Does "pause trigger" have a status flag?

Hi,
I am using a BNC2110 with PCI6133 multifunction DAQ card. I am reading random analog voltage pulses on one channel for now, and using the "Pause Trigger" properties (on trigger property node) so that the read task only takes in samples from the pulses, and not samples of the baseline noise between pulses.  This works ok. But is there a way of signalling when the pause trigger has actually started and stopped (at the rising and falling edges of a pulse, respectively)? I want to use these signals to index the collected data so that I know where in the data any one pulse starts and ends, and so keep all pulse data separate, but in one array.
Many thanks,
Oliver.

Hi Oliver
One thing you could do it to look for a timeout error to flag when a pause occurs. The time-out error code is -200284. If you set the timeout value to the minimum (1) you can keep checking for the timeout and set a boolean to true when a timeout occurs. So if the boolean is true you know you have a pause, if the boolean is false you know you are reading in the signal.
I have adapted the vi that you posted to do this and attached it below.
I hope this helps
Thanks

  • Status flags in TOC not setting

    Hi,
I just recently created a project with a table of contents. There are a number of click boxes and 'continue' buttons that pause the project. Sometimes, even though the project has moved on from the slide, the status flag is not set in the TOC. Sometimes it does work though. This is encountered by all users with this project.
    Suggestions?

    Hi there
I think you may be encountering the following situation.
If you have a Click Box or Button object that is left at the default action of "Continue", the playhead continues to advance and it reaches the slide end. Once it reaches the slide end, the flag is set to indicate the slide has completed.
If you change the default action from Continue to "Go to the next slide" or perhaps "Jump to slide", the playhead never really reaches the end of the slide. So Captivate doesn't consider the slide to have been "visited".
Thoughts here are to possibly stage the Buttons or Click boxes so they pause at the actual end of the slide? Then Captivate may consider the slide to have been viewed and set the flag accordingly. Perhaps try that.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Edge counting with digitial pause trigger

    Hi
I should write a program for edge counting with digital pause trigger in visual basic.  I have found an example of using pause trigger in edge counting but it is written in C#.
Steps in the program followed is:
    1) creating task
    2) creating count edge channel objecy
    3) configuring thr trigger ( where i have been strucked)
    code in c # is:
    taskname.triggers.pausetrigger.digitalleveltrigger ( source, level)
When i tried to look for trigger function and to configure it in Visual Basic, I have not found any trigger function to set/configure in the function library
    Thanks

    Hi there,
Here is the code in text format.  That's pretty much all you need.  I took the example code called CntDigEvents.vbp and added the following code before the start task function call:
        DAQmxErrChk DAQmx.DAQmxSetPauseTrigType(taskHandle, DAQmx_Val_TriggerType6_DigLvl)
        DAQmxErrChk DAQmx.DAQmxSetDigLvlPauseTrigSrc(taskHandle, "PFI0")
        DAQmxErrChk DAQmx.DAQmxSetDigLvlPauseTrigWhen(taskHandle, DAQmx_Val_Level1_High)
As for the C# code I am not familiar with C# so I don't think I can be a great help on that one.
myTask.Triggers.PauseTrigger.ConfigureDigitalLevelTrigger(triggerSourceTextBox.Text, gateLevel)  This function is the main call for the pause trigger and all it is doing is setting the properties.  triggersource should be along the lines of "PFI0" or "Ctr0" and gate level defines whether the gate level is "high" or "low)
How is the VB code going?

  • Scope does not trigger

    Hello,
I am trying to trigger a scope at a certain point. I have a test signal coming after a regular sinusoid. I want to measure the output when the test signal arrives. What happens is that when my test signal comes after 1 second the trigger works perfectly fine but when my test signal comes after 3 seconds the scope does not trigger at the point I want and keeps on triggering at unwanted points. This is a conceptual question. Could anyone please help me in that.
    Thanks,
    Krunal

    Hello Krunal,
I am not exactly sure what your external signal looks like, however I can suggest a couple things for you to look at.  First, if the absolute value of your sine wave amplitude is less than the test point you want to measure, the scope can simply level trigger at that point.  It should not matter if the signal comes in after 1 seconds or 3 seconds.  The only problem you might be seeing with this is a timeout error.  This is caused by the read function not being able to sample enough data within the default 5 seconds limit.  Adjusting the timeout would help if you are getting this error.
If your test signal value you need to trigger off of is within the absolute value of your sine wave signal it becomes more difficult because if you specify to trigger off of a rising edge 0.5V signal this point will occur many times before the ideal trigger point.  Perhaps a combination of using the trigger hold off and trigger delay might help you time the start of your acquisition a little better.  If this does not help, can you please post more detail about the sine wave, your test point you want to trigger off and the behavior you are currently seeing.

  • Physical Inventory Status Flag Not Reset after Year End Inventory Procedure

    Hi,
We are just done with the Year End Inventory Procedures, and to my surprise, a lot of Storage Bins are having their Physical Inventory status flag as ACTIVE, which they should not have.
An example bin has incorrect status-u201Ccountedu201D in the associated inventory record number . LINV status is L-cleared. LINK status is Z-counted, LINP status is Z-counted and physical inventory flag is ON in table LAGP, but status must be L-cleared and physical inventory flag should be OFF (or blank) in table LAGP.
Our users did not use LI20 to clear the empty bins or bins had no difference to post (meaning book qty & count qty are the same).
I already tried the Program RLREOLPQ and OSS Note 824904, but no its of no use in our Case.
    Any guess/hint for the problem?

I solved this with thehelp of a Zprogram writeen wrt the OSS note mentioned above in the question.

  • DAQmx: Gating Pulses with Pause Trigger

I have an NI 9401 module in a 9171 chassis and would like to gate the output of one counter with the output of another counter. Counter 1 (the signal to be gated) generates a 3 Mhz signal and Counter 0 (the gate) generates a 10 Hz signal that is externally routed to Counter 1's Gate pin. I expected this would gate Counter 1's signal to produce the 3 Mhz pulse only when Counter 0 is high, but the wiring had no affect on the output of Counter 1, it still generated a continuous 3 Mhz pulse train.  I found that some code is needed to get a counter to pay attention to the signal at its Gate pin (this post was particularly helpful) and that this can be done with the Pause Trigger property node. After setting up the node, however, I ran into this error:
Error -20124 occured at DAQmx Start Task.vi:2
Lines 4 to 7 of this port are configured for input. Cannot configure these lines for output at this time.
I'm pretty perplexed by this.  The problem seems to be coming from trying to designate PFI 5 ("CTR 1 Gate" on the 9401) as the Pause Trigger source.  If anything, I would think the error would be that lines 4 to 7 are configured for output, since those lines are grouped under CTR 1 which is configured as a CO channel to generate the 3 Mhz pulse train, and that setting line 5 as the Pause Trigger source is changing the configuration to an input.  Searching for this error in the NI forums and Google doesn't pull up any troubleshooting information.  I've tried to create a task to configure line 5 as a seperate digital input channel, but then I get the opposite error (Error -200125) saying that lines 4 to 7 are configured for output and cannot be configured to input, to make things more confusing.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.  I'm concerned that I'm missing something obvious about gating pulses or configuring CO channels since I keep reading that one of the advantages of DAQmx over DAQ Legacy is that it makes signal routing easier.  I'm using LabVIEW 2012 (32-bit) with DAQmx 9.5.5 installed.

    Hi agoncalves,
I took a quick look at your VI and I see two immediate problems:
    1.  There is not guarantee that both tasks will reserve before either one starts.  This explains your error and why it seems confusing.  The 9401 is nibble configurable but you can't change the direction while the device is in use (why the reserves are important).  The module powers up with both nibbles set to input.  Your first task drives an output so it switches direction on one of them.  When your task is committed (started) it locks in that configuration.  The second task then tries to also drive an output but on the other nibble which is input and cannot be switched because the first task is running.  The solution is to use the error wire to force the execution order (or use a flat sequence structure).
    2.  You'll run into problems with your gating signal unless you wire it into a separate input (and put both pulse trains on the same nibble).  You can change that by setting the channel property CO.Pulse.Term.  That's if you want to route your signal through some external circuitry and back in.  If you are using the signal directly, you could just use it internally.  Such as /cDAQ1Mod1/ctr0InternalOutput

  • Stacked sequence does not trigger

I am reviewing Pull-down Menu.vi in Labview BasicsII: Development Coarse Manual. When I go through Exercise 2-7, I never get the dialog boxes. I have the Get Menu Selection wired to the stacked sequence where it connects to the box containing the question mark. When I choose "Test 2" or any of the menu choices, it does not trigger the frames.
I ran the program in solutions on the disk, and this program runs correctly, showing the dialog boxes.
I have had this problem before. I connect a wire to a stacked sequence where it shows the question mark. But the stacked sequence ignores the information coming to it.

First, I think you're refering to a case structure and not a sequence structure.
Second, you are probably not defining your cases properly. You can use probes to examine exactly what data you're sending to the case structure selector terminal (that's the question mark). If you are using strings, the strings have to much exactly to the strings in the case definition. If they don't match, the default case will execute. If, after using a probe to see what data you are sending the case structure, and after making sure you defined the cases correctly, you still don't see what's wrong, you should post your VI.
I realize saying this is a bit unnecessary, because you already started, but...
To learn more about LabVIEW, I suggest you try searching this site and google for LabVIEW tutorials. Here and here are a couple you can start with. You can also contact your local NI office and join one of their courses.
In addition, I suggest you read the LabVIEW style guide and the LabVIEW user manual (Help>>Search the LabVIEW Bookshelf).

  • HT1695 what does hsdpa indicates on the status bar on my IPhone 4s?

what does hsdpa indicates on the status bar on my IPhone 4s?

It's a type of cellular network that is supported by the iPhone.
High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) is an enhanced 3G (third generation) mobile telephony communications protocol in the High-Speed Packet Access (HSPA) family, also dubbed 3.5G, 3G+ or turbo 3G, which allows networks based on Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) to have higher data transfer speeds and capacity. Current HSDPA deployments support down-link speeds of up to 42 Mbit/s. Further speed increases are available with HSPA+, which provides speeds of up to 337 Mbit/s with Release 11 of the 3GPP standards.[1]

  • Trigger Input Occurred status in MAX

We are configuring a new closed loop stepper setup with PCI 7344 and the "Trigger Input occurred" led in MAX is turning red after a search for encoder index. The "Encoder Index found" led is green.
What does mean "Trigger Input occurred" and what kind of misconfiguration can cause it?
    Tanks.

    Hello TulioB,
Thank you for using our discussion forum. Trigger inputs, or high-speed captures, capture the precise position of the motion system when an external trigger signal occurs. You can enable or disable the trigger inputs from the Advanced tab under 1-D Interactive in Measurement and Automation Explorer. The trigger configuration can be selected on the Breakpoint and Trigger tab under Axis Settings. Trigger Input Occurred Led being red will not have any effect on the motion of your stepper motor. I hope this helps you out. Have a great day!

  • Clearing Table of Content status flags on file launch??

I have a trainin course with the Table of Contents feature (Captivate 4), which displays what screens the user has viewed by displaying green status flags. Our customer may have a workstation set up as a “training station”. It appears as though the status flags in the TOC is cumulative. In other words, of one student comes in, completes the training, and then another student comes in behind him to use the training, all the status flags from the previous training session are still visible. So, my question is…Is there any way to control the status flags without each user having to manually clear them using the clear button? Possibly with a variable of some sort? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

  • Status Flag not appearing if branching

I have a CP project with branching after a question slide (slide 14).  If the user gets the question wrong, they follow an alternate path to slide 15 to review the correct answer.  Then they hit slide 16.  If they get the question right, they skip slide 15 and hit slide 16.  The user who gets the question right will never see slide 15, thus making the TOC think they didn't see all the slides.  The TOC will not mark the module as complete with a status flag.  Help?

    Hello,
TOC can help users by marking slides as seen. But you have to be aware that only slides that are completely viewed will get the status flag. It is also great for self paced learning, for navigation. From your question I understand that you want it to take over the role of a LMS: completion of a course is normally reported by the LMS. Even there a branching in a course will cause problems if you want to have a Completed status reported. For a LMS you could indicate which % of slides have to be watched.
What do you really want to achieve with the TOC? Perhaps it could be realized with some variables and advanced actions.
