Does performing a DAQmx Clear Task on a PCI-4474
card change the state
of the IEPE current? If the IEPE current was on, does it remain
on even though the task as been cleared? If the IEPE current
remains on, then I assume I don't have to wait for the IEPE current to
settle if I make a new Task and start a new measurement--is this
correct?

DAQmx Clear Task should not turn off IEPE current. You will have to explicity set IEPE current to On (for that channel) whenever you use any of the AI channels on your 4474 in order to keep the IEPE On because the IEPE for all channels in the AI subsystem will be set to the default state (Off) unless explicitly configured. That said, if you clear a task that had IEPE On, and then initialize a new task and set IEPE On, the IEPE will be uninterrupted and there should be no need to wait for the IEPE to settle. Other components of your measurement system might need time to settle if their state was changed between tasks (DUT, sensor, AC coupling, etc.)

Stand-Alone application with LabView 7.0 getting error can't find DAQmx clear task.vi

I have attempted to create a stand alone vi with the Build Application or Shared Library(dll) in LabVeiw 7.0
When I put it on another PC to test it I get the error "can't find DAQmx clear task.vi"
the other PC has Labview 7.0 and DAQmx 8.1 also.
I believe my problem is in the source tab where you are supposed to add support and dynamic vi's I have search the forums and Ni's data base and have not found a solution.

When you run the executable on the other computer is when you get this error? Do you have the exact same versions of LabVIEW and DAQmx on both computers? Does the dialog allow you to navigate to the DAQmx clear task.vi? If so, you can find these VIs in C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 7.0\vi.lib\DAQmx\configure\task.llb. Does the executable work on the development machine (the machine it was compiled on)?

Tools > Options > Tabs - is the last preference there check-marked??

Firefox updated now my browser service email does not open completely when I tried its suggestion could not change the default? Any ideas to help me?

I can not get my browser email to open up. It is through mediacom and they say they do not support firefox yet it always worked till today after I cleared all my history earlier today. I have tried to do the steps it says but no way to add my correct mail server name in. I am not really all that good on hte computer on some things and this is driving me nuts. Any help would be appreciated.

When you cleared your history, did you select Cookies and/or Active Logins and clear those? That could explain why you are not automatically logged in.
I have not used the Zimbra mail server. However, generally speaking, when you are using webmail, you usually do not need to enter a mail server name. Usually you just have to login.
Where does the site stop working for you. Can you log in and get to the next page, or does it require you to keep trying to log in? Can you view the Inbox? Can you open individual messages? Et cetera.

Is there any way to have a clear or transparent dock. Or to change the dock at all I would love to see that!

It is exasperating that the iPhone dock cannot be adjusted in any way. I would love to see a transparency slider or a few style choices. C'mon apple. This makes sense!

Does anyone know how to unlock a computer that my kids changed the admin username on and they can't remember what they put

i am trying to unlock my son's computer that we bought from a school supply store. one of my kids changed the administrator user name but they can't remember what the changed it to. the computer is stuck on the login in screen and the password is blank. please help

If you have the OS X installation discs for this computer, then I suggest you erase the hard drive and install a fresh copy of OS X so you can set up an admin account only accessible to you. Create separate managed user accounts for each of your children.
This will prevent your children from making any changes to the accounts of their siblings since you will retain the only authority to make such changes. This would be accomplished through the Parental Controls options of Accounts in System Preferences.

Clear Task Error

Hi,
i use DAQmx Create Channel.vi's to create 3 Channels: one of them as differential- so i have 2 (later maybe 3) tasks. Problem is, when i start my VI, i get error how some task resources are reserved, but i use Clear task?!?
Here is my application.
p.s.: Why not DAQmx Assistent Express? Because i need to change the sampling rate online.

I slightly modified your VI (attached). Now it should work but with your card you're not able to change the sample rate of these measurements seperatly.

How do I change the underlying query for the task board (and backlog board) on TFS Preview

All,
We work with multi-area projects, each area representing a significant component within the project with its own release/iteration cycle. i.e. Several areas may be active at once, each with different iterations.
When we look at the task board these take no account of the area being worked on. What I need to do is to be able to change the query behind these boards to point to a particular release/iteration for a particular area.
Unfortunately there is no drop down selection on these pages to see this automatically so I need to be able to change the underlying query that populates these boards to get the the area and release/iteration that I need.... but I can't find where these
are.
Using multiple areas is actually highly frustrating with TFS Preview as it doesn't seem geared up at all to make it easy to switch between them... are we doing something wrong?
I think I can do this by changing the current iteration - but I can't work out how to do this either once an iteration for a particular area has started.
Can anybody help?

It is not possible to modify the query behind the task board. If I understand you correctly, you would like to filter the task board by area path.
In TFS 2012 we have repurposed the area path field to be the field that determines the team you are working on. We are continuously improving our product and being able to filter your task is one of the improvements that we are thinking of.

If, however, you want to change the size of the display of the menubar, meaning make the icons and text larger, there is no way to do that directly other than to change the resolution of the screen.
You can change the as-viewed size of that temporarily by using either -
• Mouse zoom - if you have a Magic Mouse (Apple wireless mouse), hold down the Control key and use the scroll up and scroll down finger gestures on the mouse.
• Zoom - go to System Preferences > Universal Access > Seeing and turn on Zoom. You can also use the noted keyboard shortcut to enable/disable this Zoom feature.

Several DAQmx Channels with Start and Clear Task VI's

Hi,
I'm trying to read in several DAQmx channels in a while loop. When I just place the channels within the while loop and connect them directly to the read VI's, everything is fine. But I read in the help, that this will slow down my system, because it's opening and closing the task each cycle. So I used Start Task and Clear Task VI's to open and clear them before and after the loop. But now it's only reading one of my channels in, although I wired all of them in exactly the same manner. Anyone has an idea, what I did wrong?

You would have seen the error if you had wired up and error indicator.
You cannot run multiple tasks of the same type (i.e. an analog input) at the same time. What you read about stopping and closing tasks is correct but it was the only way your program could work. What you don't realize is that you can have multiple channels with a single task. If you used a physical channel constant, it would be something like 'dev1/ai0:2' if you had consecutive channels or 'dev1/ai0, dev1/ai2' for non-consecutive. Global channels are done in a similar fashion. You would have 'FSR1, FSR2, Knee Angle', etc.

I am trying to read voltages from pressure transducers and LVDTs in two separate While Loops. But when running the program there is an error regarding DAQmx Start Task.vi. So I was wondering if multiple instances of DAQmx Start task results in error. I have attached the vi.

Thank you for the reply. New to Labview so I didn't know that we had to search using the error code, I tried searching using text though. Will do that from the next time, thanks.
I do not have the problem with the write tasks but only with the read tasks. Right now I have one start task for all the input from the pressure transducers and LVDTs and three start tasks for the three analogue outputs and the program seems to run fine.

Possible reason(s):
Requested operation could not be performed, because the specified digital lines are either reserved or the device is not present in NI-DAQmx.
It is possible that these lines are reserved by another task, the device is being used through the Traditional NI-DAQ interface, or the device is being reset. You might also get the error if the specified resource is currently in use by LabVIEW network variables bound to the DAQ Channel, or if the DAQ Channel is being used in any OPC Client software.
If you are using these lines with another task, wait for the task to complete. If you are using the device through the Traditional NI-DAQ interface, and you want to use it with NI-DAQmx, reset (initialize) the device using the Traditional NI-DAQ interface. If you are resetting the device, wait for the reset to finish.

Thank you both for your input. I slightly changed my code to Merritt_Coil_calibration (updated code attached) and the first error went away, but now I have a different one which is:
Error -200429 occurred at DAQmx Write (Digital U32 1Chan 1Samp).vi:1
Possible reason(s):
Value passed to the Task/Channels In control is an empty string (or I/O control).
The value must refer to a valid task or valid channels.
As far as what DAQ device I am using, it is the NI USB 6009. I am only using digital port 0. During different pieces of my code I send different values to port 0. I am using this to drive some stepper motors. I thus send square waves on the different pins on port 0. I do not know if this is exactly what you were asking.
Whatever the case, I was wondering if anyone knows why this error occurs and how I could fix it.

Trouble building an installer with NI-DAQmx and tasks

I am having trouble getting an installer that includes my tasks for NI-DAQmx. I select the configuration wizard from the hardware tab, it shows my tasks with checkboxes but i cannot 'check' the task I want, it says "the item cannot be checked because it depends on other items whose software has not been installed". The drop down menu for the 'scales' can be shown and checked but that doesn't include the tasks when i try to install the 'package'.

that was the problem... but raises another issue.
My DAQ device NI-USB 6008 was not connected to my "development workstation" but was on the "distribution workstation". When I connected the USB DAQ device to my development workstation I was able to check the checkbox and it was included in the configuration file and when I installed the application on the development workstation, it worked as expected.
Does this mean that any time I make a change to the "Task" i'm going to have to have the DAQ device (the UB 6008) attached to my development workstation for the installer build to work?... that seems cumbersome... and since I'm going to be developing my App to run on 4 different workstations each with it's own USB 6008, am I going to have to configure the appln 4 ways (4 tasks) - 1 for each workstation?

Hi Quint,
This can because of database fragmentation. I would recommend you to re-index the databases and perform a de-fragmentation and can check the behavior.
On the other hand when you receive this message, you can try an IISRESET and check. Additionally you can use refer to following link for de-fragmenting queries.
