trying to decide whether to upgrade... does anyone know how photoshop cs3 works on lion? I really need the other cloud compatability to sync all my devices easily but would hat to lose my photoshop as I havent yet spent the money to move to cs5...

Does Photoshop CS4 work in Lion?

I would but you can't in Lion. The application was set to run in Rosetta because one of my most used plugins didn't work in 64bit mode, hence the CS5 version running in 64bit and CS4 running in Rosetta. The only way to start/stop Rosetta functionality was to open the actual .app file in Finder, then "Get Info" and select the checkbox that turned on Rosetta. Now that I've upgraded to Lion there isn't a way to turn off that functionality which to my understanding forced CS4 to run in 32bit mode. So I can't fix the problem and I have upgraded to CS5, as well as uninstalling/reinstalling CS4 (theoretically eliminating the Rosetta prerequisite) to no avail.
I'd say that Adobe/Apple should at least acknowledge that this isn't meant to happen and help me figure out how to resolve this as a matter of course to keep their 2-level down products working properly.
Lastly I have no idea how to go back to 10.6, I can't seem to figure out how to go about that in time machine. Thoughts?

Does InDesign CS3 work on Mac OS X Lion?

I have installed the Adobe CS3 Design Premium (from original package discs) on my iMac but I am unable to open the applications (with an exception of PS) and get "the application has unexpectedly quit" notification. I was able to use all applications with no problem in my old mac laptop a few years ago. Does anyone know whether this is a compatibility issue with Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 and if Adobe offers any solutions? The Customer Service says this is a technical issue (so they cannot help) and suggests that I seek help here but I had no luck so far. I already confirmed on another forum that this is not an installation issue and was suggested to seek help in program-specific forums. Thanks!

You won't get any kind of official statement that CS3 works on Lion, but Rick says he has it running, so there is potential. The problem you face is there was no testing or program modification for CS3 in order to run on Lion, so you're on your own (with any help you might find here from someone who is successfully doing what you want to do). Your problems are most likely due to some other software you also have installed.
As to why Windows has better OS backward compatibility than Mac, that's a difference in corporate philosophy -- Microsoft has a larger enterprise-scale customer base and they want programs to continue to run, and they're more likely to vote with their wallets.

Windows 7, 64 bit, Home Premium was clean installed. I had no difficulty reinstalling Dreamweaver CS3, but when I try to open a file I get a message that says." A problem has caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." Apparently none is. So my question is, does Dreamweaver CS3 work with the 64 bit version of Windows 7? If not, does CS4 work or would I be wasting money by upgrading?

I just installed it and ran it fine. I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
Make sure it is a clean install from a fresh "boot". I ran into problems the first time when I tried to install it right after I installed another program. I simply uninstalled it.....which took a long long time, but after it was removed and I rebooted, everything went fine.

After upgrading to Lion, I was experiencing significant problems with my MacBook Pro waking from sleep. It would present me with the screen asking for my password and as soon as I typed into the field the screen would blank. Almost like a badly done game.
In an effort to address this, I re-installed VMWare Fusion. The problem has not presented itself since, and it was happening on almost every wake-from-sleep.
Take this as what it is -- a one-time anecdotal report. But if you're experiencing issues after upgrading to Lion and you have Fusion, try just re-installing Fusion. It doesn't take long and it doesn't impact your VMs (I'd shut them down before the re-install, but that's probably not a requirement).

Since En'rage does so many things the conflicting reports probably have to do with whether the program is being used just for mail, just for the calendar, or for both. For what its worth, I'm not happy with the 2011 version's performance in Lion. I've gone back to Mail and began using BusyCal

I am translating some short text in Photoshop to several Asian languages. I noticed just with the Thai language, that I get a series of X's with boxes instead of Thai characters. The characters are fine in other applications, including Flash CS3. Other than taking a screenshot in another app and pasting into Photoshop, does anyone know of a workaround? Should I install a particular Thai font that is supported by Photoshop? I am running Photoshop CS3 Extended on Windows XP. Thanks for any help.

Funny thing is you can tell their sales pitch was loosely translated. I gave it a try anyway. The instruction PDF was in Thai, their website was in Thai. But I felt brave anyway, seeing as I googled this application title and didn't see anything negative written about it. Then I go to the application icon in the system tray. As you can see from my screenshot, it ain't exactly user-friendly.
Bottom line... it didn't work. Anyone out there have a solution? I've searched everywhere... Am I the only one with this problem?
