Does Photoshop Elements 11 install automatically to a Windows 8-64 bit computer?

I am considering purchasing a new computer with Windows 8 operating at 64-Bits. Does PSE11 install automatically to the 32-Bit Compatibility Mode and thereafter operate seamlessly? My photo catalog is in excess of 10,000 shots and want to make sure I will not have any issues when moving the new edition to the new computer.

Photoshop elements 7 won't activate on windows 7 after my computer crashed

i had photoshop elements 7 installed on my windows 7 computer and everything worked fine.
then my computer crashed and i had to reinstall windows 7. but when i tried entering my serial number now, it wouldn't accept it, even though on my account it says that the serial number is correct and working.
customer service told me i had to ask you guys on forum.

Actually I found the problem after searching through the forum list - it was the solution to reset the organizer's online-services state.

Is there a known problem with this feature? I definitely am leery of ordering prints through the organizer field again.
Yes, it's been a known problem in the Organizer since at least PSE 6 (2007), with an Adobe tech note describing the problem and the workaround:

Like most bugs in the Organizer, Adobe has explicitly chosen not to fix it.
The problem appears to occur when an upload to a service is interrupted or fails. The workaround, deleting those files, seems pretty reliable.

Why does Photoshop Elements 10 print dark and red, and not match the computer screen?

I switched from Photoshop Elements 7 to Photoshop Elements 10. I cannot get a print of a photo that matches the screen. Photos are dark and red. I cannot edit the photos because I do not know what will print out. I have switched back to Photoshop 7 and my photos print fine, just as they have been edited. I have spent hours on the Chat line with Adobe. They have yet to help me resolve this problem. Does anyone else have this problem or know what to do? Adobe sure doesn't. I feel I have wasted money and am afraid to ever upgrade again.

If you are using Photoshop Elements Editor for printing then make sure you have handled the color management of PSE correctly.
There are two different scenario available in PSE to handle color management.
Scenario 1 (When printer manages color). If you're known and familiar to your printer profile, the type of paper you are using and if you have any other customization done for your printer profile then in this case please select Printer Manages Color in Color Handling drop down under color management of PSE.
To achieve this, follow these following steps.
1. Launch Print dialog.
2. Click on "More Options..." button.
3. Now select Color management.
4. Here you can see the Color Handling drop down. Please select Printer Manages Color.
Note:- Use this scenario when you are sure a about your printer profile and settings.
Scenario 2 (When Photoshop Elements handle color). In case you want PSE to handle all color management then please select Photoshop Elements Manages Color in Color Handling drop down. Then select the same printer profile as Image space.
Note:- If you are using this option, make sure the color management of your Printer is off.

Adobe PhotoShop works OK on Windows XP. I can install on Windows 7 - 64 bit
but it won't open.

Adobe doesn't support Photoshop Elements 6.0 on Windows 7, so you may face issues while using it on Windows 7.
By the way, are you getting any error message on launch ?

einen Tag nach meiner Bestellung war das Päckchen schon da, und auf der Verpackung steht extra hervorgehoben, daß Premiere Elements nur mit 64 bit läuft, obwohl ich das vorher bei den Voraussetzungen etwas anders verstanden habe. Wenn das aber so ist, dann ist es für mich leider nicht nutzbar. Im Internet steht folgendes bei dem Artikel:

Ich weiß nur, daß bei mir 64 bit nicht möglich ist, weil dann bestimmte Soft- oder Hardware nicht mehr läuft. Und ich wollte nicht alles neu kaufen.

Brooks lansing if you create a new Administrator account does the same issue occur? If so then it is likely that there is a file permission failure and file permissions have been set for the existing Users instead of the groups they belong to.
Have you removed and reinstalled Photoshop Elements 11? This may reset the file permissions to the correct state to allow it to work under new accounts.

If I were doing this I would probably have the two versions of Photoshop Elements on the same computer and convert the Elements Organizer 10 catalog in Elements Organizer 12. (See Elements Organizer 12, File Menu/Manage Catalogs/Catalog Manager/Convert. But, best ask the experts in the Adobe Photoshop Elements Forum.

Yes, Photoshop runs on all editions of Windows 7 as far as I know.
And the Photoshop EULA does give you the option to install and activate the software on a second machine. Once you no longer need the XP system, assuming it's still functional, just deactivate the Adobe software on it and you'll be able to have the same flexibility again in the future.

A side note: Windows Home Premium may do all you need for now, but keep in mind there is a Windows Anytime Upgrade you can buy in the future that will allow you to move up to a higher edition of Windows 7 later if you should feel you need more features.

Unless you're also installing PRE (bundle) or the PRE trial (PSE only version), you're fine, since PSE is always 32 bits.

The "restore disk" is built into the Mac. See About Recovery.
Need more specifics about what error messages you got while installing Adobe Flash.
However, you can almost avoid Flash altogether by setting YouTube to play the HTML5 version instead.
Click the Try something new! link at the bottom of the YouTube page.
I don't know about the sound issue. Might be hardware as you think. Try other headphones to check.

Does Photoshop Elements 11 organize pix by categories like the old Album Starter Edition 3.0?

I'm aware that Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.0 is not supported by Adobe anymore. I have thousands of photos organized on it using its "Category" function. Does Photoshop Elements 11 have a similar function? (I'm in the midst of also switching to a new computer and my old one can't load the info on the PS 11 program available on this site.) I'm extremely concerned I not lose the ability to retrieve my pix by the categories I've already assigned them, when I switch to PS 11 on my new computer.
