Thanks!

  • How to use ICC profiles and soft proofing profiles?

    Hi,
I got an Epson Stylus Pro 3880 and Epson Hot Press paper which, upon investigation, received great profeesional reviews and, having never printed digitally before, I don't know how to use profiles for soft proofing or printing.
I don't know where to go in Aperture or what to do. My driver is up to date and I downloaded the paper profile - not sure where it ended up. What's next?
So far as I know, soft proofing is about calibrating the monitor to the paper - am I correct?
    Thanks guys,
    Raphael

    Raphael,
A good reply is going to require a full-size keyboard, which I don't have access to just now.  Here are some starter pages:
    http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tutorials/soft-proofing.htm
    http://www.luminous-landscape.com/tutorials/soft-proofing.shtml (a bit grumpy and out-dated)
Fwiw, I print to Epson Hot Press using a 3880.  Imho, it's a _great_ printer, and that combination of printer and paper produced state-of-the-art results.  (Not suitable in all cases, but if that is a look you like, the only thing that I've seen that surpasses it is the Epson 9900, and without looking at prints side by side you can not tell them apart.)
Your profile ended up wherever you have told your browser to save downloaded files.  The Epson site should provide instructions on where to move the file.  Once it is in the right Finder folder, when you next Aperture it should show in your list of profiles.
Keep in mind, though, that soft-proofing is useless without a well (read: hardware-calibrated) calibrated display.

  • ICC profile for Aperture books?

    All-
I've looked around Apple's web site and have not been able to find an ICC profile for soft-proofing a book. Does anyone know of a source for such a thing?
    Thanks,
    Andreas

Having watched an Apple video detailing the benefits that Aperture offers in terms of on-screen colour proofing I found it strange that there is no profile for Apple's book printing partner in Europe (or the US).
Wouldn't it be useful for Apple to include a profile for the own printing partner 'in the box' so that users can on-screen colour proof their book before sending. After all, this is supposed to be one of Aperture's main features. I can't understand why they don't. At least they could expand on the reasoning behind this.

  • No paper appears for Soft Proofing in Snow Leopard and R1900 Epson printer...?

No papers appear for Soft Proofing a photo when using Epson R1900 printer and in Snow Leopard.
Print driver 6.62 is installed. Soft Profing papers are listed when an image is open in Preview but
can't print from Preview. None appear when a photo is open in Photoshop. Paper profiles
are listed in Color Sync Folder in Library but they don't appear for Soft Proofing when in PS.
How can I get profiles for Soft Proofing? They did appear when my printer was in Tiger & a Power Mac...?

I can't really tell which drivers you are using right now. It sounds like the best course of action for you is to uninstall all of the Epson printer drivers and reinstall them one at a time. You will need to go into the Library/Caches folder and delete the Epson folder. Also go into the Library/Printers folder and delete the Epson folder. In the PPDs folder, delete the .gz files for your printers, too. If you are using the Gutenprint driver, you will need to uninstall that first. You can download the uninstaller at the following URL:
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/gimp-print/files/Uninstaller%20-%20Mac%20OS%20X% 20ONLY/1.2.6/gutenprint-uninstaller-1.2.6.dmg/download
Click on the file it downloads and uninstall Gutenprint.
Once all the drivers have been uninstalled, install the latest drivers for each of your printers one at a time and make sure each works before installing to the next one.
    Hope this helps, Syd

  • Photoshop Elements 12 does not support the color space

I recently installed Photoshop 12 on my computer after a reformat. I was previously using Elements 10. i am not getting this error when trying to import photos from my camera. Photoshop Elements does not support the color space. I am using a Nikon D3200 camera to download from. I never had this problem with Elements 10 using the same camera. How do I fix this?

It turns out that this problem went away after the program crashed.  Everything seems to be working well now.

  • ICC profiles for HP Photosmart 7520 from other manufacturers

    Hi
I am looking for ICC profiles from other manufacturers for a HP Photosmart 7520. I have been searching days now and have found nothing for my printer.
Where can I find other manufacturers ICC profiles if they are available? OR if there are none profided, why?
    TIA
    Alex

    Hi asdiaz,
I understand you have a Photosmart 7520 that you're wanting different ICC profiles for. I will do my best to guide you in this.
This isn't something that we support, but in doing a bit of research I was able to find a link to Adobe ICC Profile, and this International Color Consortium page that has a few different suggestions.
Hopefully these pages will get you in the right direction! Have a good one!

  • Icc profiles for HP photopapers

I have a Photosmart D7260 printer with HP Advanced and HP Premium Plus photopaper but the prints are always too dark.  I'm trying to get better colour rendition in prints and I'm exploring letting Photoshop Elements 8 control print output, but I need to download the icc profiles for these papers. I can't find them on the HP site.  Please avoid overly technical answers please.

  • ICC profile for windows

    Hi
I have bought at screen calibrator and have created an icc profile for windows.
I have Adobe photoshop elements and Lightroom, how do i get the colors to be be same in these 2 programs and even same as other program like windows previewer

    Hello,
    The link should help.
If you check in your printing preferences and see if under Color Management you have an option of Application Managed Colors.  If so an ICC profile should exist for your printer and you can follow the steps in the link below to set up your driver and Adobe.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&docname=c00294110
If this doesn't work updating your printer driver may help.

  • ICC profiles for Photosmart Premium C410a

I have a Photosmart Premium C410a and previously had a C309 series.  I am using Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit).  I am trying to print from Photoshop Lightroom 3 using the managed by application setting which requires ICC profiles for the printer. When I access the "Choose Profiles" window no ICC profiles appear for the C410, but the profiles I used for the old C309 do appear.
How do I find the ICC profiles for the C410 and load them onto my computer?
    Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the links ... it is a start in right direction, except they say to selct printer & paper profile ... and that is the issue - there are none.
The issue for me is that when I select Print within photoshop ... I get the color management options ...
    http://i771.photobucket.com/albums/xx351/Tafflad/Computer/setingsfortestprint.jpg
You can see the option on right for "Color Handling"  it is set to "printer manages color"
Ideally I should be setting this to "Photoshop manages color"  and under "printer Profile"  choose the correct printer/paper combination ...   i.e. something like  HP-C410 glossy  or HP-C410 matte
There are no ICC color profiles there for HP.
I have downloaded and installed the full HP driver package for the printer.  (for PC W7)
Hence my question (and the original posters) do HP have ICC profiles available .... epson produce them for their printers for example.

  • ICC profile for images

I have a basic question about color profiles.
I set the color profile Adobe RGB (1998) for PS by default.
I work on images mostly and my question ist how to save JPG and other files, if with added ICC Adobe RGB (1998) or not?
    For example:
My edited image will be published on the web. Has added color profile influence on displayed colors on the websites? Or will the computer screens display sRGB by default and the added color profile does not affect displayed colors?
And for lab should be Adobe RGB (1998) OK, but I should inform me by lab staff, is not it?
    Thank you for explanation.

Yes, absolutely the color space influences web display - SOMETIMES.  Internet Explorer ALWAYS assumes the color space is sRGB (the windows default for non-color-managed applications), while other browsers such as Safari will honor an embedded color profile.  Thus an image tagged with a color space other than sRGB will be INCONSISTENT between different browsers, and inconsistent is not what you want.
Specifically, an Adobe RGB image will look dull and lifeless in Internet Explorer, with particularly muted reds.
Do you *know* why you want to use Adobe RGB in the first place?
If you're not sure, and if your primary output is web publishing, I might suggest setting your preferred working space to sRGB, as that is the one and only color profile that will yield the greatest consistency across all web browsers.  Working with sRGB space, by default, gives you more chance of being correct if you happen to use File - Save As instead of File - Save For Web & Devices.
I also suggest checking the checkboxes that warn you if you're opening/pasting an image that isn't in your preferred color space.  That helps prevent mistakes.

  • Where do I find the ICC profile for my new Canon Pro-100 printer?

I  downloaded ICC profiles for several different papers, but for optimum color management, do I not also need a ICC profile for the printer itself? Very new to this......I have my ColorMunki and I use Photoshop and Lightroom. Trying to get everything coordinated properly...........
    Thanks for the help,
    Laura Mowrey

If you downloaded ICC profiles for papers they should be for the Pro-100. The paper vendor prints a known pattern of colors using a Pro-100 and then uses a device to analyze the print. The ICC profile contains the correction info that adjusts the printer to make the prints look like the known color pattern.
The Color Munki will calibrate your monitor to make sure that the colors you see are correct.
I suggest you calibrate the monitor to,D50 at 80-90 lumens/m^2.

  • Where can I download ICC profile for Canon paper?

    Hi,
I bought a new MacBookPro and suddenly the ICC profiles that used to be in my Canon Pixma Pro 10 are missing.  I'm specifically looking for: Canon luster, platinum, museum etching.  Can anyone point me to the right direction please?  Thanks.

I am having a similar problem.  I had previously printed on my new Canon Pixma Pro 10 to Canon Photo Paper Pro Luster from my MacBook Pro retina running 10.10.3.  I upgraded to Lightroom 6.  Now I do not have the ICC profile for the luster paper available under Color Management in LR6.  I downloaded and reinstalled the print driver but that didn't give me the profile.  All of the ICC profile downloads that I can find are for other vendors' papers.  The link in ssprengel's post takes me to the driver download page but it doesn't give me the Canon paper ICC profiles. Help.

  • HP c7180 ICC Profiles for printing in Lightroom 2.0

How do I find ICC profiles for  the various HP photo papers and then import them into Lightroom 2.0.

OK so I've done some testing now using the Lab 33 x 33 x 33 image.
Photoshop seems washed out when printing on photo paper pro but is far more accurate than in lightroom.
I also did an experiment and in Colour matching picked Vendor matching and in the Colour Options printed one with None selected and one with Driver matching selected - the one with Driver matching was much closer to the image on screen.
I also deiscovered that there is a bug in Lightroom which causes Colour matching options to be grayed out. I guess this is something I should be telling Adobe about.
