  • Does Playbook support Microsoft office?

Does Playbook come with Microsoft office? If not, does it support it?

Well said. Most of the things you can't do are acttions that you're not going to do on the PB anyway. Docs to Go does most of what you'll ever want to do on the PB. The complicated stuff you'll be doing on your desktop or lapton with a keyboard and mouse and 23" monitor. After we get the Android emulator maybe a Windows emulator should be on the list. Apple finally did it, why not BB.

  • Does this support EAP? LEAP? PEAP? Web Authentication?

I am trying to access my college network at Baruch, and its not letting me get pass the authentication. Safari just freezes. Is the iPAD EAP compliant? The iPhone works fine. If its not, is Apple working on a fix?
Honestly for a an app to promote keynotes, logging into a clients network before a presentation, I see huge problems with this. What if the client uses web authentication to have to access Wifi. Is there a fix around this?
    Thanks

i assume eap types are supported just like on an iphone. if you manually configure to connect to a wireless network are wpa/2 enterprise choices listed? if so that implies eap support.
i believe i saw other complaints about web auth not working. i assume that's an issue with ipad safari not being able to interpret the web auth page coming from the wireless access point/controller.
i'm unclear on what your trying to connect to. a wlan using web auth or leap/peap/etc? they are usually not used together.

I'd like to connect this new iPhone up to my WiFi and retain the same security (WPA2) I'm using with my other clients.

But does it support WPS (WiFi Protected Setup)?  And if so, can you tell me how to set up the iphone to join the transaction?  Thanks.

    Hello Everone?
I bought my Yoga S1 in May 2014 . It working nicely under the environmet of 802.11n  support Wireless router.
Yoga S1 features 802.11.ac. That is  why I bought new wireless router which supprot  802.11ac  (2.4Ghz, 5.0Ghz)
But, my yoga S1 does not catch 5Ghz wifi service, even can not see any signal about 5Ghz frequency, only catch 2.4Ghz antenna.
Other gardgets such as iphone, iPad has no problem catching ans using 5Ghz wifi over my new 802.11ac  wireless router.
Please give me some hints why this happens to my Yoga S1.
    Thanks a lot.

    Hello and welcome,
Not all TP Yogas have 5GHz capable wifi cards.  There are several configurations available.
Can you go to device manager and determine which wifi card you have?  Or provide the laptop model number?

What is the better Connection on Apple TV v2, Ethernet or Wifi 802.11n????
Does not support with ethernet gigabit?

If you have stable wifi with good connectivity it should work fine - in reality many people struggle with wifi.
I was plagued by interference issues with wifi whenever the microwave was used and would always use ethernet now as my first preference for stability.
As the house is not wired for ethernet several years ago I tried mains powerline network adapters that are made by many companies.
I use these from Devolo currently:
    http://www.devolo.co.uk/consumer/81_dlan-500-avmini_starter-kit_product-pictures _8.html?l=en
They are excellent and you can create a wired network in minutes without running long lengths of cable.
As with wifi they never achieve the highest rated speeds and are dependent on the wiring quality but are more than adequate for HD streaming to multiple AppleTVs.
Many other manufacturers produce these eg Belkin, Netgear etc as well as lesser known brands.

  • My iMac does not find my wifi printer or my Chromecast.

My iMac does not find my wifi printer or my Chromecast. I was able to ping the chrome cast and printer and I'm able to connect to these devices with my windows computer, iPhone and iPad. I have OS X 10.9.2. I'm able to print by setting up the printer using the IP address that was assigned by my router instead of letting my iMac do the finding. It seems that the iMac either does not like the info that is receiving or something is blocking the signal (other than the firewall, which is off). Could someone have an idea what the issue might be?

    Hi MikeMart0923,
If you are having issues adding or connecting to your WiFi printer from your iMac, you may find the following articles helpful (apologies if you have already seen them):

  • My iPad first gen (iOS5.1.1) won't connect to my home WiFi suddenly. It's worked fine for years but just stopped. All other devices do connect to the WiFi. Now, the iPad does connect to the WiFi at my workplace. Ideas on this?

My iPad (first generation iOS5.1.1.1) quit connecting to my home WiFi recently after years of being able to. All other devices in my home connect fine. I have taken every step I can find to try and remedy things including restoring my iPad to factory settings. Still nothing - when it tries to connect to my network it just spins. I took my iPad to work and it connected to the WiFi there just fine. Came back home, no good. After talking with my local Mac supplier they've suggested that maybe my router is the cause. I've unplugged it several times for lengths of up to an hour but that still isn't getting things working again. Any ideas?

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • HP Deskjet 3055A does not connect to WIFI with security

I am trying to configure a Deskjet 3055A on my DD-WRT router.  I am a highly skilled networking engineer so I know 100% what I am doing.
Firstly, DD-WRT does not support WPS conenction, because these are highly insecure.  This means my only method of connecting the pritner to my home network is to connect it to my PC and use the installation utility (dowloaded from your drivers page)  I am using version 28.8.
My router supports both 2.4 and 5GHz and I know the printer is only 2.4GHz.  I completely disabled the 5GHz network for the purpose of connecting the printer even though it should not have any effect.
I have also rebooted my router, and reset the printers wireless network using its in-built control panel.
Anyway, after a shameful 2 hours troubleshooting, I managed to find out that the printer WILL NOT CONNECT to the WIFI network if any security is applied against it.  It works 100% fine with open security however, this is completely unnacceptable.
I have tried both WPA Personal and also WPA2 Personal, both with the same effect.
For the sake of trying, I also added the printer to my open WIFI network and tried to manually edit the WIFI setting through the printers web interface however, whenever I try and access the Wireless setup wizard, I simply get an error saying "Internal System Error" - eventually I managed to get around this other bug that has been there for years (see http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-Networking-and-Wireless/Internal-System-Error-prevents-access-t...
After going through the printers web interface WIFI setup, the issue is still the same and it will not connect.
HP, we were about to order 2500 of these printers for our remote site users.  If you do not come up with a quick solution/bug fix, consider the business lost!
    Regards
    Ian

After much playing I managed to find a fix for this!
For all users who are unable to find a fix using the other methods, here's what to do.
Change your local network to open security but note down your WIFI setting for your typical setup.
Connect the printer to the open network using the HP software (using a USB cable)
Go to the printer's URL, but ensure you connect using HTTPS - if you get an internal system error, keep refreshing until it works (WHAT A JOKE!!!!)
Click on "Network" on the top, then click on "Advanced" on the left.
Enter the network settings as they should be when secured.
At the bottom, tick "In an infrastructure network, use 802.11b/g behaviour(assuming your netwoek supports g, otherwise use the b only option), then click apply.
Turn your wireless security back on, on your router and then the printer should connect!
I really am baffled as to why this isn't automatically enabled, if the printer doesn't work with wireless security on a Wireless N network, then have this as the default!
HP - feel free to thank me in this post!

  • IPhone 4 iOS 6 Update Doesn't Support 5GHz WiFi?

After upgrading to iOS 6 on my GSM iPhone 4, I've discovered that I can longer access my Apple Time Capsule (Airport Extreme). I do not have the grayed-out wifi option, but rather I can only see wifi base stations in the 2.4Hz spectrum. My Time Capsule is set for 5GHz only to eliminate interference from the large number of wifi access points in the surrounding area. Fortunately i have a Motorola witeless Cable Modem so i am able to access wifi in the 2.4GHz spectrum directly. However, using the AirPort App, I am able to see my Time Capsule, which should not be the case since it should only be visible to devices that can see 5GHz. This is based on my own previous attempts to reset the Time Capsule after setting it to 5GHz only and discovering none of my devices at that time were 5GHz capable.
The iPhone 4 was actively accessing the 5GHz Time Capsule prior to my upgrade to iOS 6. Does the fact that the AirPort App can see the Time Capsule, but can't see the 5GHz network hosted there suggest anything about the settings that may need to be adjusted following the upgrade to iOS 6?
I've read that the grayed-out WiFi option has resulted in some iPhone 4S being replaced under warranty, but obviously my phone is considerably out of warranty at this point. So I am concerned that this is a software fix coming in the next update. While the majority of Wifi access spots are still 2.4GHz, more are moving to the 5GHz spectrum, and I would hate to lose that functionality just to gain a few unspectacular features under iOS 6.
Anybody else have this specific problem, as I have searched and found nothing. most problems seem to affect only the 4S?

    I don't understand your question: the iPhone 4 doesn't -- and never has -- support 5ghz wifi. See http://www.apple.com/iphone/iphone-4/specs.html

  • Does Siri support multiple languages

I live and work in a multilingual environment. As a result, I often have to send SMS and emails in English, French, Italian or Portuguese. With the keyboard, I am used to switch language with the globe key next to the spacebar. With Siri however I am not sure how this can work. When it does eventually support the above languages, will I be able to use different languages without changing the whole telephone setting? Can one say "send email to my wife: buongiorno amore"? It would be a real letdown if the coolest feature of iOS 5 were unusable to me...
    Thanks

Yes, exactly. I am using Siri in English since she gets better along with the rather easy synthax (compared to German). Unfortunately you cannot switch directly when writing a message. For example, if you tell her to "write a message to my wife", you may immediately dictate what you want to say but only in English. If I want to write her in German instead, I will have to tap once on the message area. She then instantly changes to German (or any other language that was used as keyboard before) which also affects Siri's voice recognition. But one tap is reasonable.

  • I would like to sign-up for an  e-card web site.  However, I am not able to hear the music on the web-site.  It says that Apple does not support MIDI music.  Why is it Apple does not support MIDI music and what can I do about it?

I recently had wanted to sign-up for an e-card web-site.  However, when I clicked on the web-page, I am NOT ABLE TO HEAR ANY MUSIC.  The message shown is that Apple does not support MIDI music.
What other software can I download in order for me to listen to the music on this web-page?

Please don't tell my wife this, she's been working with MIDI on her Mac(s) since the turn of the century...
The statement from that web site is completely incorrect. What they probably meant was that their software doesn't support Mac. IMHO this is a sign of either ignorance or lack of concern on the part of the site creators. Back in the dark ages a lot of PC apps didn't support Mac but not these days.
Get into your Mac Help window and search MIDI. There's plenty of info there on how your Mac supports MIDI.
