Does PNY GTX 750ti on HP p7-1227c need BIOS update?Chris

I have an HP p7-1227c  BIOS 7.04 and a PNY GeForce GTX 750ti OC 2048MB video card
This is Not the MSI card with the legacy BIOD downgrade switch.
Apparently a version 8 BIOS will enable UEFI which is needed.  Is there a way to do this without having to update to Windows 8?
Chris

Chris, welcome to the forum.
I believe that the card requires UEFI in the motherboard.  HP didn't begin using UEFI until mid-October, 2012.  I suggest contacting PNY's Tech Support to see if they have a VBIOS update that will allow the card to work with your BIOS.  There may even be a work-around for the problem, but they would be the ones to know.  I don't believe that Win 8 would help with the problem.

  • Why does an internet video site tell me I need to update my flash player when it is already updated?

    Hello.
Have been watching some videos on some popular streaming websites like MegaVideo and I am getting a message saying this:
"You need a newer Flash player version to use this player. Please click here and update your Flash player to the latest version or open the following link manually:
    http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/"
However I am updated my flash players to the lastest version. I even went to the about page to see that it actually updated. I even can see the spinning F.
I have tried everything else I can think of. Please help.
Browser: Firefox 9.01 (NOTE: I think my Flash Player was working before I updated to Firefox 9)

Anything either info I need to let you guys know?
EDIT: Even tried it on IE9 and still get the same message.

Opps. Sorry about that. Windows 7 64-Bit. And its only any on site that has Megavideo streamed, everywhere else works fine like youtube and such. When I get home from work I will see about taking a screenshot of the video and message. Was going to do that but forgot.

    Hi,
This machine has been tested with 2 graphic cards - the NVIDIA® GeForce™ GT 620 and AMD Radeon™ HD 7570.
This does not support a GTX series since it can handle only GDDR3 memory interface. Considering this, if you need to use the GTX series, you will need to upgrade the motherboard and will have to contact a local 3rd party service center for the same(since we do not support motherboard upgrades)
    Hope that clears your query.

  • Gtx 750ti and h8-1114

I bought myself a EVGA gtx 750ti for my h8-1114. The HP came with a gt 520 card, and it seemed fully compatible and I got it into the PC properly.
But I get the beep problem and i can't open any BIOS menu.
Some people have said that the 750ti is just not compatible with this HP? Do the BIOS have to be updated? I wouldn't want this card to go to waste: do I have to buy a new and updated motherboard?
The reasons why the 750ti isn't working is confusing me, could I get some help?
I uninstalled the gt 520's driver before doing the card swap, and right as I type this Im using the same HP because I reverted back to the gt 520 and reinstalled the driver.
Any tips on what to do with this 750ti if nothing can work Just save it for when I possibly build a pc?
    Thanks for any responses

For the card you bought, I do not find a solution.  The 700 series cards will not work with that motherboard.  It seems I read the 600 series would work, it one of them might be OK with you, I will do further research for you.

  • Issues with GTX 750Ti

Couple weeks ago I bought MSI GTX 750Ti Gaming Series and it is amazing, but when nVidia release the new Beta driver I started to install it but just when the graphic driver almost was install i have got black screen and my computer freeze. The only thing I could do is hard reset. I tried few times more but nothing different. So I plug my monitor to the on board video on started again but now everything seems ok the beta driver was installed ok. So what cause the problem and is it from the driver or the problem is in my computer.

Probably a problem with your pc or a combination of the driver being beta and not working well with your individual setup. Does the driver now work or does the problem presist?
Well, it works now but like i said i install it properly when I plug my monitor in the Intel onboard video not in my video card and then the instalation was ok

  • Will a HP Pavillion 500-569 support a gtx 750ti or gtx 970 mini

Hello. Will this computer(HP Pavilion 500-569) support a geforce gtx 750ti or a geforce gtx 970 mini if they fit into the case? If so will I need to do anything additional(other then put a new power supply with reccommened wattage etc) before/after I install it? I have read about some issues with UEFI and other factors on other graphics cards on HP and other computers not supporting certain cards and I want to be 100% sure. Thank you so much
    http://www.futureshop.ca/en-ca/product/hewlett-packard-hp-pavilion-500-intel-core-i5-4590-1tb-hdd-8g...

    Hi,
The HP Pavilion 500-569 only has a 300 watt power supply. The NVIDIA 750ti should work if it's not a model that requires an auxiliary six (6) PCI-E power connector.
The NVIDIA GTX 970 will require that a bigger power supply be installed in your PC.  The Corsair CX600 would be a very good choice for a power supply.
Open up your PC and do some measuring in parallel with the PCI-E x16 slot to see how long of a video card will fit. The slot adjacent to the PCI-E x16 slot needs to be vacant. Look carefully at the motherboard and makes sure that components on the motherboard don't interfere with the installation of the video card.  Review this posted article.

  • P6-2133W not recognizing EVGA GeForce GTX 750ti video card

    Hello,
I currently have a stock HP P6-2133W desktop, and I wanted to update the graphics.   I purchased an EVGA GeForce GTX 750ti video card ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487025 ), but I could never get video to display through the card.
I disabled the onboard video through Windows Device Manager, but I couldn't find any setting in BIOS to explicitly use PCIE instead of the integrated video, and EVGA's driver installation utility reports that it could not detect a compatible device.   The fan on the card spins, so it seems to be properly installed, and I tried re-seating it into the PCIE slot several times over the course of my troubleshooting.
Through all of my digging around online, I found a few mentions of UEFI BIOS.   Unfortunately, I'm at work, so my computer is not handy at the moment, but  I do remember that my motherboard was AAHD3-HB, and I had v. 7.16 of its BIOS (AMI, I think?), and the HP utilities did not indicate that there were any sort of updates available.
I'm not very familiar with UEFI, so, I guess my main questions are: is my BIOS incompatible with this particular video card?  If so, is there a way to install a UEFI BIOS on my motherboard that would support this card?
I liked the idea of the 750TI, because it seemed to offer pretty decent performance without requiring a new Power Supply, so if this card is simply incompatible with my computer, then do you know of a comparable card that would work for my computer?
I appreciate any and all help with this.

    Hello @BCAstronaut,
I understand that you are having issues getting your HP Pavilion p6-2133w Desktop PC to recognise your new EVGA GeForce GTX 750 Ti Graphics Card. I believe the reason you are experiencing this issue is the the break in the downward compatibility on the PCIe slots was broken at around the Gen 2.1 mark and you are trying to put a Gen 3.0 card in a Gen 1.0 slot. This in essence makes your computer incompatible with the graphics card you have chosen to use.  I am providing you an article on the overclock.net website titled The final answer to the controversial PCIe x16 version compatibility., where the author explains what I described and goes into how he made the determination. I would advise you review the article if you have any questions concerning the issue you are facing.
I hope I have answered your question to your satisfaction. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • Trouble installing Asus GTX 750ti Graphics card on i7

    Pavilion i7 [email protected] (2011)
Trying to upgrade from GeForce 545 graphics card to new ASUS Geforce GTX 750Ti.
Hi  - After fitting the new card I get a blank screen after the initial blue setup screen. I have already read various detailed threads on exactly this but am not sure what to do.
I have  few options from what I can figure out.
    1. One thread tells me how to go into the setup menu and 'disable secure boot'  - others tell me this won't work (??)
    2. Another very detailed thread says I must update the BIOS to a version 8 . I just did an update via HP support but it is still version 7 - the automated system doesn't let me install a newer version - not even sure if i should or how to(??)
    3. This is from another thread ;-
'HP usually stops producing BIOS updates after one year from the model's initial release date which for your PC is May 2012.  You need a version 8 BIOS in other to get the EVGA 750 TI to work.  If you search the forum you will find many posts where many of the NVIDIA GTX 750 models have failed to owrk in PCs running a legacy BIOS ( not version 8).
The below NVIDIA GTX 750 models should work as these models will work in PCs that have a legacy BIOS or a UEFI BIOS.
MSI NVIDIA GTX N750 TI and the MSI GTX N750 TF'
This suggests I simply give up on the ASUS card and get one of the cards listed above.
I'm not sure what to do and would really appreciate some advise. I don't feel confident messing about too much with the machine and would like a simple solution even if it costs a bit more. If I knew 100% these other cards would work I'd just exchange the ASUS.
    thanks

    Hi,
Interesting quotes, probably some from me.
Here is another thought for you.  "Not every graphics card will work in every PC" Even graphics cards that work in one particular PC may not in fact work in a similar model or the exact same model.
Look for a NVIDIA 660 or 670 and a power supply to match the recommendation by the graphics card manufacturer.
BTW - You will probably not see a version 8 BIOS for the Pavilion models with the i7-2600 processor.

  • Can a p6-2330 run a gtx 750ti?

I have a HP p6-2330 with a MSI MS7778 board and I'm about to upgrade to the A10-5800K, and I was wanting to upgrade my video card (EVGA GT 610) to a EVGA GTX 750Ti. I have 22GB of RAM. I have been slowly but surely adding to my Steam library, and one of my favorites is Skyrim, which runs fine, but I'd love better graphics for it. Will the GTX 750Ti work with the MS7778 Jasmine board? I have been researching this for a while and I have seen many people saying different things, like BIOS won't accept the GPU, and some saying it booted up with flying colors and no BIOS hacking needed (which I don't want to have to do because I don't have the skill). If anyone can help, it would be very helpful!

    Hi,
Your PC has a version 8 BIOS so most of the newer graphics cards should work. However, your PC only has a 300 watt power supply.  The NVIDIA GTX 750 is an excellent card for use with a 300 watt power supply.
If you want to use a higher performing graphics card then review this posted article.  You will also need to install a bigger power supply that is sized to meet the graphics card manufacturer's recommendations.
The motherboard in your PC only has a four pin (4) ATX auxiliary power connector. If you are thinking of a high wattage graphics card then be careful as the motherboard in your PC is a consumer level board that is not designed for high wattage graphics cards. Most of the better enthusiast level motherboards have an eight (8) pin ATX auxiliary power connector.  I don't have a "rule-of-thumb" for what the upper wattage limit should be with a motherboard that only has a four (4) ATX auxiliary power connector as PC configurations will vary.  Another consideration is that the PCI-E x16 slot in your PC only only generation 2 which will limit the performance of higher end graphics cards.  You will have to check with the graphics card manufacturer and make sure that the graphics card that you are considering is downward compatible with PCI-E generation 2. Some graphics card specifications state compatibility with generation 2 and others don't say anything.  Do some research before you buy.

  • Can't use MSI GEFORCE GTX 750Ti with my P7-1240

I purchased MSI GTX 750 Ti with a legacy Bios switch. However I am not able to get the darn thing to boot up after the splash screen. I get three tones and the screen goes black. I have found a similar problem on another forum http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Hardware/Unable-to-boot-with-new-graphics-card/m-p/3930544/highlight/true#M80840     They mention that there is a window 8 bios update for the board in the p7-1240, but when you go to the HP drivers page there is not a bios update listed. Does anyone have any information with this? My current version is 7.07.

You have a "Chicago" motherboard and the link that you referenced has the "Joshua" motherboard.  Apples and oranges. Look at the Zotac graphics cards as they are listed as being compatible back to PCI-E 1.1.  Be sure to match it with a appropriate size power supply (300+ watts). The reality is that there is no guarantee that any particular graphics card will work in any particular PC even if the graphics card works in other PCs or even the same or similar model PCs. Know what the return policy is before you buy.
