Does Premiere Elements 10 run on Yosemite?

I have an iMac running on Mavericks OS. I am looking at upgrading to Yosemite but want to be sure that Premiere Elements 10 will still run on Yosemite.

Users of PSE11 & 12 have experienced problems; so PSE10 is likely affected.
It may be best to get PSE13 if you intend to upgrade your OS.
Black Friday on-line sales are worth a look as prices tend to drop during this period.

  • Does premiere elements 13 support canon mov files?

Does Premiere Elements support Canon mov files or must I convert the mov file to a different format first?  If I have to convert the mov file first, what file conversion program should I use and what file type should I convert it to?

Thanks for the additional very helpful information.
    Two concerns in your case...
    1. Canon 70D and its H.264 intra frame compression. Please refer to the following
current thread on the color fade of the exports of the Canon 70D footage
    export quality
    2. Premiere Elements 10 on a computer with a NVIDIA GeForce video card/graphics card
is bad news. The typical fix is to roll back the driver version to about May 2013. But, when the
computer operating system is Windows 8 or 8.1 64 bit, often there is not an older enough driver
version to revert to in order to get Premiere Elements 10 to display and work properly.

Also see Announcement at top of this forum about the Premiere Elements 10/NVIDIA GeForce issue.
You should not expect to run into this problem in Premiere Elements 13. But, go tryout before purchase
to assure the compatibility of the program with your computer environment and project goals.
Please review and consider and then we can discuss your situation further.
    Thank you.

  • Does Premiere Elements use a "rate curve" for pan/zoom?

Does Premiere Elements pan/zoom feature have a sort of accelerate/decelerate option, either user-selectable, or built in to the pan/zooms?
By accelerate/decelerate, I mean the pan/zoom will start very slowly, then over a period of just a second or two, accelerate to whatever constant speed it needs to move the user-defined distance in the user-defined time, and then at the end of the pan/zoom, decelerate over the last second or two, to a stop.
Makes the pan/zoom seem much more "human/organic"...as opposed to, "robot-like" if the pan/zoom does not gently accelerate/decelerate at the start and end.
    Thanks...

If you are referring to Bezier Curves and interpolation methods, yes with regard to keyframing the Motion Scale property (for Zoom) and the Motion Position property (for Pan). The Pan and Zoom Tool keyframes can also be adjusted. Keyframing of some other properties can also be adjusted.
From Premiere Elements 13/13.1 on Windows 7 or 8.1 64 bit.
Below is an example from keyframing of the Crop property.
What version of Premiere Elements do you presently have and on what computer operating system is it running? If you do not already
have Premiere Elements 13/13.1, please evaluate the tryout before purchase to determine the compatibility of the program with your
computer environment and video editing goals.
Please let me know if I have targeted your question. Any questions or need clarification, please do not hesitate to ask.
    Thank you.

  • Does Premiere Elements 4 works on Win XP Home SP3?

    Hello,
I have a question to Premiere Elements 4 on Win XP Home, SP3.
I installed Premiere Elements 4, but it does not run. If I start PE4 the purple startup screen be displayed: Application will initialized, loading compiler,..  the startup screen disappears, that's it! No program will appear.
My native language is german, so I called the german support line. They told me that Premiere Elements 4 does not work on Win XP Home SP3 (?).
I can't believe, is there no way to to run Premiere Elements 4 on Win XP Home SP3???
If there's a possibility, please tell me what I have to do.
ps: I have Apple QuickTime and MS DirectX 9 installed. My PC is an Sony PCV-RS702 Desktop with 4GB Ram.

OF COURSE Premiere Elements works on XP SP3! That's the operating system it was designed on!
The german Adobe support says NO, PE4 does not work with SP3. It's fine to read that it does.
    1) Try uninstalling and reinstalling Premiere Elements. Occasionally
the installation goes wrong, and uninstalling and reinstalling fixes it.
I do already before I write this thread, I installed it three times. I'm Microsoft Certified Professional, so I hope I do nothing wrong with the installation.
    2) Ensure that you have enough free, defragmented hard drive space.
Your computer comes with 160 gigabytes of hard drive space -- that's
relatively small for video production. But the program should be able
to run, assuming you've got at least 30 gigaybtes free and you keep the
hard drive defragmented. Over the years, hard drives can also become
full of temp files and spyware, that's why I recommend this regular
maintenance in the FAQs to the right of the program:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/390602?tstart=0
I have 35 GB free space after installation. But for the small jobs I do it's normally no problem (!?). My hard drive is defragmented.
    3) Make sure you have the most recent version of Quicktime as well as
all of the Windows updates. Apple updates Quicktime at least once a
month, and it's very easy to have an outdated version.
One month ago I format my harddrive and installed the OS new. The Updates of Windows are installed automatically by system.
I checked the QuickTime Update Function: QuickTime is up to date.
The hardware is not my problem, before I installed Win XP SP3 new, one month ago, Premiere Elements runs without problems. The only difference, that time with SP2. Maybe it is a SP3 problem, like the german Adobe Support tells?

  • Does Premiere Elements 10 have to be permanently connected to Internet in order to work?*

Does Premiere Elements 10 have to be permanently connected to Internet in order to work?

As Steve points out, there are several modules in PrE, that need to be Activated, when first used. That Activation is usually totally seamless and transparent to the user. For those initial Activations, one does need to be connected to the Internet, but once all of those modules have been Activated, the only use for an Internet connection will be to Update the program, but that function can be done manually, by downloading any Updates with another computer, with an Internet connection, then just Copying that/those Update(s), Extracting any ZIP/7Z files, and installing them.
    Good luck,

  • Does premiere elements support analog video

I have DVD's of analog videos burned from a 8mm Camcorder recorded in UDF format. Does Premiere Elements support analog video for editing?

    theodorepost
Thanks for what sounds like good news.
I see no need for you to convert those VTS_01_1.VOB files into anything else.
    Here is my suggested plan...
    a. Download and install the free 30 day tryout of Premiere Elements 12 from Adobe
    b. Put your DVD disc in the DVD burner tray. Open Premiere Elements 12 to the Expert workspace.
Click on File Menu/New/Export and set the project preset for NTSC DV Standard or Widescreen (depending on whether
your files are for standard 4:3 or widescreen 16:9)...do not forget the check mark next to "Force Selected Project Setting on
    This Project".
    c. Then back in the Expert workspace, use Add Media/"DVD Camera or Computer Drive"/Video Importer. In the Video Importer,
put a check mark next to your VTS_01_1.VOB, a check mark next to Add to Timeline, and designate at Save In location. Then click
Get Media to put the file in Project Assets and on the Timeline.
    d. Then we can gauge the situation.
Again, if possible, do not purchase the program until you have work through the tryout in order determine if Premiere Elements 12 work for your video editing/export goals and is compatible with your computer environment.
We will be watching for further developments.
    ATR
Add On...If any problems (I do not expect any) with Add Media/DVD Camera or Computer Drive), we might consider Add Media/Files and Folders/ and navigate to the VTS_01_1.VOB.

  • Does Premiere elements 10 support MOV movie clip formats?

Does  premiere elements 10 support MOV movie clip formats?

MOV is really but a wrapper, and can contain a broad range of CODEC's. Many, like PhotoJPEG, Animation, H.264, and many more will work fine, so long as one has Apple's QT Player installed, or the necessary CODEC's installed. However, if the file came from a Mac, and went to a PC, and had been Exported from FCP, or similar, there could well be one of the Apple Intermediate CODEC's inside, and most of those are NOT available on the PC. Also, if the file came from FCP, even if going to a Mac, there are CODEC's, that will only come from FCP, so one would need that program installed.
This ARTICLE will give you more detail on File Formats as "wrappers."
Please let us now what is inside that MOV wrapper, and someone can direct you.
Welcome to the forum, and good luck,

  • Does Premiere Elements 13 have SmartSound?  I can't find the button anywhere...

Does Premiere Elements 13 have SmartSound?  I can't find the button anywhere.  I am using Classroom in a Book Premiere Elements 11 to learn it as there isn't a CIB for PE13, so I know it's not ideal, but by looking up help PE13  mentions SmartSound but I still can't find it under my 'audio' panel.

    nic22
    No.
There is no SmartSound feature in Premiere Elements 12/12.1 and 13/13.1. In those versions, you have Music Score under the Audio Tab in the workspaces.
Music Score is the same in concept as SmartSound (you can change music duration without altering the music arrangement), but is not SmartSound.
There are several places in the Premiere Elements 13 Help PDF where information is correct for other versions but not Premiere Elements 13.
Using video tutorials and books written for versions different  than your own can get confusing. The principles tend to stay the same from version to version, but features
tend to get moved, deleted, changed from version to version. And, often the video tutorial does not
make a point of what version of the program is being used to demo the tutorial - assumption "same".
As a guide, if you are watching a video tutorial and the headers read
Quick and Expert - that is 11.
Quick , Guided, and Expert - that is 12.
eLive, Quick, Guided, Expert - that is 13. (but note, some users in Europe do not have eLive).
Please review the above. If any questions or need clarification, please ask.
    Thank you.

  • Can't open Premiere Elements 11 with Yosemite

Does the problem exist with and without antivirus and firewall(s) disabled?
Are you working with a pen and tablet device instead of a mouse?
What are you loading when the program disappears - the Elements Organizer 11 or the Premiere Elements 11 Editor?
If you have not already, I would go with an uninstall, free ccleaner run through, and then reinstall with antivirus and firewall(s)
    disabled.
    CCleaner - Download
Before or after the uninstall/reinstall, you might also include a deletion of the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file which may be found
Users/Owner/Libraries/Application Support/Adobe/Premiere Elements/11.0 I am not 100% on the path, but I believe it is correct. I am strictly an Elements Windows user.
Please let us know the outcome.

  • Does Premiere Elements 11 Require SonicFire Pro?

Based on the error message that you are getting, I suspect that you are trying to insert SmartSound soundtrack(s) into your Premiere Elements 11 program. Although for some reason I have never needed the following, many recent posts by people with SmartSound issues seemed to be helped by it.

  • FAQ: What OS does Photoshop Elements run on, or Will PSE run on my computer?

There are many different combinations of Photoshop Elements (PSE) and the Operating Systems (OS) it is supported on. Here is a table to help identify which versions of PSE are supported on which versions of Windows and Macintosh. By "supported", we mean that the application is designed and thoroughly tested to work on. Just because a platform is "unsupported" does not necessarily mean that it will not work. What it does mean is that you operate the application on that platform at your own risk. In most cases, a version of PSE is "unsupported" on a specific platform simply because it was released before that version of the OS.

System requirements | Adobe Premiere Elements
Regarding what versions will or will not work on certain operating systems...I would question even your Photoshop Elements FAQ reference.
What Adobe has not tested is not the same the impression that the program does not work on a certain operating system it has designated as " - ".
I have not seen a Premiere Elements document comparable to this FAQ document that you present for Photoshop Elements.
    I have found no problem installing and running Premiere Elements 4, 7, 8.0/8.0.1,  9.0/9.0.1, 10, 11, 12/12.1, 13/13.1 on Windows 7 Professional SP1 64 bit or Windows 8.1 64 bit.
The version updates, if available, should be used to give special obvious features as well as other less obvious ones.
In the case of the current version, Premiere Elements 13/13.1, Windows XP, Windows Vista, and OSX 10.7 are not supported. Interestingly, I have found that you can
download the Premiere Elements 13 tryout from Adobe to a Windows XP computer, but you cannot install it.
Also, on a comparative basis, Premiere Elements version 32 versus 64 bit application
    Windows
Premiere Elements 10, 11, 12, and 13 are 64 bit applications only when they are specifically on Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit computer.
Premiere Elements earlier then 10 are 32 bit applications whether they are run on Windows 32 bit computer or Windows 64 bit computer.
    Mac
Premiere Elements 9 was the first version to be offered for Mac as well as Windows.
Premiere Elements Mac was not available as a 64 bit application until version 11 - and with Mac 64 processor.
    Miscellaneous
Premiere Elements as a 32 bit application will block you from importing still images beyond a certain total pixel count.
Lots of other details, but let us start with these.
Please let us know if you need clarification on any of the above.

  • Why does Premiere Elements 10 crash when I select transitions.

Any time I try to select the transition tool the program crashes. Everything else seems to work just fine. I'm working in windows 7.

    MP!
Thanks for the reply. From your description, it would appear that all you have to do is click on the Transition Tab and the program freezes/crashes.
You do not even have to select a transition.
If your video card/graphics card driver version is up to date according to the web site of the manufacturer of the card, the card is not NVIDIA GeForce, and the problem is present in all projects, then
    1. Delete the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file
    Local Disk C

    Roaming
    Adobe

the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file exists. Be sure to be working with Folder Option Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives enabled so that
you can see the complete path cited.
    2. If "1" does not resolve the problem, then go for
Uninstall the usual Control Panel way

Reinstall with antivirus and firewall(s) disabled.

  • Does Premiere Elements 13 Support 4K video?

Somehow my previous question disappeared. Does this program support 4K to burn to 4K Blu Rays?

    351mustang
Both Premiere Elements 12 and 13 have project presets for the video with the resolution of 3840 x 2160 (a 4K resolution) under NTSC only. It also offers
export of the 3840 x 2160 resolution under Publish+Share/Computer/XAVC-S. There is no burn to Blu-ray with any 4K resolution.
Remember, that 4K is a resolution. And, the video codec from manufacturer to manufacturer can vary which impacts the question. The generalization is that
H.264.mp4 4K video is supported by Premiere Elements 12 and 13.
Project Presets, please see NTSC/AVCHD/QFHD choices
Export Opportunity to .mp4 file - please see Publish+Share/Computer/XAVC-S and its presets.

  • Why does Premiere Elements 9 keep crashing during basic editing?

Recently purchased Premiere Elements 9 to do some reasonably simple editing combining videos and photographs. After about 2mins to 10mins of using the software it unexpectedly crashes for no apparent reason. I have only ever had 2 or 3 layers in the video and often when I go to view a preview (but not exclusive to this) it shuts down. Sometimes its when I am manipulating text or trying to add effects. I'm using a brand new iMac and the only other programmes I am running concurrently are Safari and Photoshop although I have tried it with no other programmes running and it still happens. I've added details below of the processor and graphics card I am running to see if there are clues there. I get an error report but its a bit large to paste here although if anyone wants to take a look it would be much appreciated!

Any help or thoughts would be much appreciated.

Thank you for the clarification. Titles should not be an issue at all. You are correct, they are an intrensic part of PrE, and should cause no issues.
I think that Neale's link will be useful. A lot of that material should be X-platform, but you will see some that is Windows-specific, especially as PrE was not X-platform, until PrE 9, and some of the suggestions, while still applicable, were when the program was only on the PC. Also, I gathered up some of it, and have to admit that I am a Mac-illiterate.
Something is definitely wrong with your PrE 9.0, with your system, or with its setup. Steve Grisetti, our MOD here, uses PrE 9.0 on an iMac, that is not a powerhouse computer, and has had few issues. I'd like to hear his comments, as he is X-platform, and many of us are only PC-guys. It's not that we do not want to help, as we do, it's just that many of us do not know the ins-and-outs that might be specific to the Mac.
Now, aspects of performance, such as the nVidia, or ATI video drivers, updating QT and updating PrE are not platform-specific, and are places to look first.
Also, when PrE crashes, do you get any error messages? I can tell you where to look for OS errors and warnings on a PC, but am lost on the Mac. There has to be some process logging function in OSX, like Event Viewer in Windows. It basically logs every call to every service, program, or process, and monitors the response. When things do not go, as they should, a warning, or error message is written to Event Viewer. Some of those are just cryptic code, and meaningless to even a Windows engineer, but some will have real, useful data, and the best will have links to say the MS Web site, or maybe to a driver mfgr. with tips on what went wrong, and best of all, what to do about it. Unfortunately, I cannot even begin to tell you where to look on a Mac.
One other potential concern would be the amount of free space on your HDD's. PrE creates very large working files, and needs a lot of real estate, just to work. How much free space do you have on each of your HDD?
Sorry to just be thinking out loud here, and wish that I had some wonderful, and useful insight.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
