Does Premiere Elements 4 works on Win XP Home SP3?

Hello,
I have a question to Premiere Elements 4 on Win XP Home, SP3.
I installed Premiere Elements 4, but it does not run. If I start PE4 the purple startup screen be displayed: Application will initialized, loading compiler,..  the startup screen disappears, that's it! No program will appear.
My native language is german, so I called the german support line. They told me that Premiere Elements 4 does not work on Win XP Home SP3 (?).
I can't believe, is there no way to to run Premiere Elements 4 on Win XP Home SP3???
If there's a possibility, please tell me what I have to do.
ps: I have Apple QuickTime and MS DirectX 9 installed. My PC is an Sony PCV-RS702 Desktop with 4GB Ram.

OF COURSE Premiere Elements works on XP SP3! That's the operating system it was designed on!
The german Adobe support says NO, PE4 does not work with SP3. It's fine to read that it does.
1) Try uninstalling and reinstalling Premiere Elements. Occasionally
the installation goes wrong, and uninstalling and reinstalling fixes it.
I do already before I write this thread, I installed it three times. I'm Microsoft Certified Professional, so I hope I do nothing wrong with the installation.
2) Ensure that you have enough free, defragmented hard drive space.
Your computer comes with 160 gigabytes of hard drive space -- that's
relatively small for video production. But the program should be able
to run, assuming you've got at least 30 gigaybtes free and you keep the
hard drive defragmented. Over the years, hard drives can also become
full of temp files and spyware, that's why I recommend this regular
maintenance in the FAQs to the right of the program:
http://forums.adobe.com/thread/390602?tstart=0
I have 35 GB free space after installation. But for the small jobs I do it's normally no problem (!?). My hard drive is defragmented.
3) Make sure you have the most recent version of Quicktime as well as
all of the Windows updates. Apple updates Quicktime at least once a
month, and it's very easy to have an outdated version.
One month ago I format my harddrive and installed the OS new. The Updates of Windows are installed automatically by system.
I checked the QuickTime Update Function: QuickTime is up to date.
The hardware is not my problem, before I installed Win XP SP3 new, one month ago, Premiere Elements runs without problems. The only difference, that time with SP2. Maybe it is a SP3 problem, like the german Adobe Support tells?

So does Photoshop Elements 13 require Win 7 or will it work with XP64 bit

I looked at hamrick.com again and it seems to skip over the LS4500AF scanner. I queried him a few years ago and he indicated that the LS4500AF was an odd scanner needing a odd driver. It is SCSI also which in itself is another step. I would pay someone to rewrite the 32 bit driver but it would be more cost effective to keep a XP32 bit machine for the LS4500AF which I will probably do. I have been using XP64 bit for 10+ years and am really keen on it but with PSE 13 going to Win7 I will have to also.
It takes me 3 or more months to get back to get my quality back up each time I change any hardware or software like an OS,  editor or computer. Fortunately my computer is good so I will not have to change it. And Summer is coming and that is my slow season time so aside from the several $s I should be fine come Fall.

  • Does Premiere Elements 10 have to be permanently connected to Internet in order to work?*

Does Premiere Elements 10 have to be permanently connected to Internet in order to work?

As Steve points out, there are several modules in PrE, that need to be Activated, when first used. That Activation is usually totally seamless and transparent to the user. For those initial Activations, one does need to be connected to the Internet, but once all of those modules have been Activated, the only use for an Internet connection will be to Update the program, but that function can be done manually, by downloading any Updates with another computer, with an Internet connection, then just Copying that/those Update(s), Extracting any ZIP/7Z files, and installing them.
    Good luck,

  • Does premiere elements 13 support canon mov files?

Does Premiere Elements support Canon mov files or must I convert the mov file to a different format first?  If I have to convert the mov file first, what file conversion program should I use and what file type should I convert it to?

Thanks for the additional very helpful information.
    Two concerns in your case...
    1. Canon 70D and its H.264 intra frame compression. Please refer to the following
current thread on the color fade of the exports of the Canon 70D footage
    export quality
    2. Premiere Elements 10 on a computer with a NVIDIA GeForce video card/graphics card
is bad news. The typical fix is to roll back the driver version to about May 2013. But, when the
computer operating system is Windows 8 or 8.1 64 bit, often there is not an older enough driver
version to revert to in order to get Premiere Elements 10 to display and work properly.

Also see Announcement at top of this forum about the Premiere Elements 10/NVIDIA GeForce issue.
You should not expect to run into this problem in Premiere Elements 13. But, go tryout before purchase
to assure the compatibility of the program with your computer environment and project goals.
Please review and consider and then we can discuss your situation further.
    Thank you.

  • Does premiere elements support analog video

I have DVD's of analog videos burned from a 8mm Camcorder recorded in UDF format. Does Premiere Elements support analog video for editing?

    theodorepost
Thanks for what sounds like good news.
I see no need for you to convert those VTS_01_1.VOB files into anything else.
    Here is my suggested plan...
    a. Download and install the free 30 day tryout of Premiere Elements 12 from Adobe
    b. Put your DVD disc in the DVD burner tray. Open Premiere Elements 12 to the Expert workspace.
Click on File Menu/New/Export and set the project preset for NTSC DV Standard or Widescreen (depending on whether
your files are for standard 4:3 or widescreen 16:9)...do not forget the check mark next to "Force Selected Project Setting on
    This Project".
    c. Then back in the Expert workspace, use Add Media/"DVD Camera or Computer Drive"/Video Importer. In the Video Importer,
put a check mark next to your VTS_01_1.VOB, a check mark next to Add to Timeline, and designate at Save In location. Then click
Get Media to put the file in Project Assets and on the Timeline.
    d. Then we can gauge the situation.
Again, if possible, do not purchase the program until you have work through the tryout in order determine if Premiere Elements 12 work for your video editing/export goals and is compatible with your computer environment.
We will be watching for further developments.
    ATR
Add On...If any problems (I do not expect any) with Add Media/DVD Camera or Computer Drive), we might consider Add Media/Files and Folders/ and navigate to the VTS_01_1.VOB.

  • Does Premiere elements 10 support MOV movie clip formats?

Does  premiere elements 10 support MOV movie clip formats?

MOV is really but a wrapper, and can contain a broad range of CODEC's. Many, like PhotoJPEG, Animation, H.264, and many more will work fine, so long as one has Apple's QT Player installed, or the necessary CODEC's installed. However, if the file came from a Mac, and went to a PC, and had been Exported from FCP, or similar, there could well be one of the Apple Intermediate CODEC's inside, and most of those are NOT available on the PC. Also, if the file came from FCP, even if going to a Mac, there are CODEC's, that will only come from FCP, so one would need that program installed.
This ARTICLE will give you more detail on File Formats as "wrappers."
Please let us now what is inside that MOV wrapper, and someone can direct you.

  • Does Premiere Elements use a "rate curve" for pan/zoom?

Does Premiere Elements pan/zoom feature have a sort of accelerate/decelerate option, either user-selectable, or built in to the pan/zooms?
By accelerate/decelerate, I mean the pan/zoom will start very slowly, then over a period of just a second or two, accelerate to whatever constant speed it needs to move the user-defined distance in the user-defined time, and then at the end of the pan/zoom, decelerate over the last second or two, to a stop.
Makes the pan/zoom seem much more "human/organic"...as opposed to, "robot-like" if the pan/zoom does not gently accelerate/decelerate at the start and end.
    Thanks...

If you are referring to Bezier Curves and interpolation methods, yes with regard to keyframing the Motion Scale property (for Zoom) and the Motion Position property (for Pan). The Pan and Zoom Tool keyframes can also be adjusted. Keyframing of some other properties can also be adjusted.
From Premiere Elements 13/13.1 on Windows 7 or 8.1 64 bit.
Below is an example from keyframing of the Crop property.
What version of Premiere Elements do you presently have and on what computer operating system is it running? If you do not already
have Premiere Elements 13/13.1, please evaluate the tryout before purchase to determine the compatibility of the program with your
computer environment and video editing goals.
Please let me know if I have targeted your question. Any questions or need clarification, please do not hesitate to ask.
    Thank you.

  • How does Internet access work once I leave home?

Do I need to subscribe to a wireless broadband deal- such as BT's Openzone- in order to access the Internet on my macBook when I'm away from home ... or can I depend on dialling my ISP via a phone socket? How does Internet access work once I leave home?

BT Openzone looks a lot like T-Mobile wireless here in the States. I've got a T-Mobile account and password. When I go into a location that has TM, I open up my MacBook and look under my AirPort menu icon to select the TM network. Then I enter my account name and password and go.
Of course TM isn't everywhere, just as BT's service isn't. When I'm in a location that doesn't have it, how I connect depends on what does exist. I always travel with an ethernet cable because many hotels don't have wireless but do have ethernet connections. I've not had to resort to modem service is more than 5 years.

  • Does Premiere Elements 13 have SmartSound?  I can't find the button anywhere...

Does Premiere Elements 13 have SmartSound?  I can't find the button anywhere.  I am using Classroom in a Book Premiere Elements 11 to learn it as there isn't a CIB for PE13, so I know it's not ideal, but by looking up help PE13  mentions SmartSound but I still can't find it under my 'audio' panel.

    nic22
    No.
There is no SmartSound feature in Premiere Elements 12/12.1 and 13/13.1. In those versions, you have Music Score under the Audio Tab in the workspaces.
Music Score is the same in concept as SmartSound (you can change music duration without altering the music arrangement), but is not SmartSound.
There are several places in the Premiere Elements 13 Help PDF where information is correct for other versions but not Premiere Elements 13.
Using video tutorials and books written for versions different  than your own can get confusing. The principles tend to stay the same from version to version, but features
tend to get moved, deleted, changed from version to version. And, often the video tutorial does not
make a point of what version of the program is being used to demo the tutorial - assumption "same".
As a guide, if you are watching a video tutorial and the headers read
Quick and Expert - that is 11.
Quick , Guided, and Expert - that is 12.
eLive, Quick, Guided, Expert - that is 13. (but note, some users in Europe do not have eLive).
Please review the above. If any questions or need clarification, please ask.
    Thank you.

  • Does Premiere Elements support DVCPRO-HD? How do I ingest and work with HD-footage from HVX-200?

    Hi there,
I work with Premiere Elements 11 on a windows PC, and I try to ingest HD-footage from Panasonic HVX-200 Camcorder. Premiere Elements only recognizes thumbnails, but not the footage itself? What do I have to do? Or does Elements only support SD-footage? Do I have to install DVCPRO-HD Codec? Where do I get it then?
Thanks for your help!, yours Mike

    Welcome to the forum.
PrE does support HD material, just not all of it.
With DVCPRO HD on P2 media, I am not sure that you will be able to work directly with the media files from your Panasonic in PrE. This is the list of supported formats: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/premiereelements/using/WSeffff8bffc802084-1665492e133c9c19956- 8000.html#WS300DE01D-F057-4639-96D1-F99EEE163C24
PrPro can Import and edit DVCPRO HD on P2 media. The Panasonic P2, along with its metadata is supported: http://www.adobe.com/products/premiere/extend.html

  • Does Premiere Elements 8 work with Organizer 10

My operating system  is 64 bit Windows 7. My computer exceeds the system requirements for Premiere Elements 8 (PRE 8)and Photoshiop Elements 10 (PSE 10).
Here is the background to my question. I offer this in case some may question why I don't upgrade to both PSE 10 & PRE 10.
I originally installed the bundle purchase of Premiere Elements 8 and Photoshop Elements 8. Both have worked fine for a long time, including successfully using Premiere to edit AVCHD files taken with my Canon  HS S200. Recently I began to encounter a printing issue in Photoshop Elements 8 that was not resolved by that Forum. I have concluded that the way forward with Photoshop Elements is not to upgrade but to delete my images and PSE8. completely from my computer Then I will install PSE 10. and restore from my PSE 8 back up.  I don't propose to also install PRE 10 on the grounds that if it isn't broken don't try to fix it.
The Adobe document on uninstalling PSE 8 advises the removal of two folders. One is C:\Program Files\Adobe \Photoshop Elements 8.0 and the other is C:\Program Files\Adobe\Elements Organizer 8.0.
I have never used Organizer with PRE 8.
I assume that the installation of PSE 10 will create a folder C:\Program Files\Adobe\Elements Organizer 10.
Do the above procedures, including the installation of Organizer 10 in place of Organizer 8 have any implications for the continued successful operation of PRE 8?

    Thanks for responding.
Yes, I understand your being more than a bit surprised that I'm thinking of deleting. It was a last attempt to resolve a PSE 8 issue that has no impact on my PRE 8.
If I understand your reply I take it that a normal upgrade from 8 to 10 doesn't remove 8. It is simply installed into a separate folder. Is that correct?
I never use PRE 8 with Organizer 8 so I'm not too concerned with it not communicating with Organizer 10. The fact you mention that reminds me how little I really know about PRE & PSE. Is there some important advantage I'm failing to see whereby PSE 8 & PRE 8 can both comminicate with the same Organizer?
    Thank you.

  • Why does Premiere Elements 10 crash when I select transitions.

Any time I try to select the transition tool the program crashes. Everything else seems to work just fine. I'm working in windows 7.

    MP!
Thanks for the reply. From your description, it would appear that all you have to do is click on the Transition Tab and the program freezes/crashes.
You do not even have to select a transition.
If your video card/graphics card driver version is up to date according to the web site of the manufacturer of the card, the card is not NVIDIA GeForce, and the problem is present in all projects, then
    1. Delete the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file
    Local Disk C
    Users
    Owner
    AppData
    Roaming
    Adobe
    Premiere Elements
    10.0
and in the 10.0 Folder is the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file that you delete. If that does not work, then delete the whole 10.0 Folder in which
the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file exists. Be sure to be working with Folder Option Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives enabled so that
you can see the complete path cited.
    2. If "1" does not resolve the problem, then go for
Uninstall the usual Control Panel way
free ccleaner run through (regular and registry parts)
CCleaner - PC Optimization and Cleaning - Free Download
Reinstall with antivirus and firewall(s) disabled.
Any questions or need clarification on the above, please let us know.
