Does Premiere have anything comparable to AE's 'Levels...dual Controls'?

CS5.....I was experimenting with AE's Color Correction effects and found their "Levels...dual Controls" to be superior for the look I was going for, more so than Premiere's "ProcAmp" which I have been using.PPs "ProcAmp" worked better than PPs "Levels" for me.
I wanted to raises the black levels specifically without over darkening the rest of the image. I  always desaturate and/or shadow/highlight to fill in video that  use "ProcAmp" or "Levels...dual Controls"....but find that whatever else I add.....using a base correction of  AE's "Levels...dual Controls" works better than PP's "ProcAmp" and "Levels".
Is there any PP color correction that works as well as AE"Levels...dual Controls" on specifically marking dark areas blacker?
This is to create what I perceive as more of a film look, where the black areas are absolute black..

The effect in Ae is called "Levels Individual Controls."   The Levels effect in Pr is very much like the Individual Controls version in Ae, but without the histogram built into the plug.
You can use several of the color-correction plugs to make black "absolute black."
The "film look" is most often associated with an s-log curve you can get easily with the RGB Curves effect using the master control.

  • Does apple have anything comparable to microsoft office?

I am currently using "text edit" to write letters and things like that for my grandma and I need an easier way thats similar to the layout of "Microsoft word starter 2010" is the one i have on my HP.
    thanks so much
This computer is a Snow Leopard I mac

And if you're just writing letters and other such simple documents and don't need the vast overkill that Microsoft Office is for such use, try Apple's own Pages. It's more than adequate for what most people need. The version of Pages now available in the Mac App Store won't run on Snow Leopard, but you can still find the older version of the iWork suite, which included Pages, Numbers, and Keynote, from places such as Amazon:

  • Does Premiere have anything like FCP's Media Manager...

Which accumulates all files in a particular project into a new folder...?

Yup! File > Project Manager will let you collect, reduce, consolidate and/or transcode your project.
Until Adobe removes it from a future release just because they feel like it, or introduces a crippling bug which renders it unusable, anyway. ZING!

  • What does Apple have that compares to Adobe flash player ?

What does Apple have that compares to Adobe Flash Player, I keep getting Blocked plugged message and it tells me to download Adobe Flash Player and when I do nothing happens.  Also when I purchased my iMac it came with Leopard osx system, last year I installed the Snow Leopard 10.6.3 system and since then cannot read CD's or DVD's from PC or my husbands new iMac with Mountain Lion system.

There is no equivalent to Adobe's Flash Player. You either have it installed or not. For the reasons outlined below, Apple no longer sell Macs with Flash Player pre-installed, you have to obtain it from Adobe.
    Flash - Apple's official position:
    http://www.apple.com/hotnews/thoughts-on-flash/
    Flash v. HTML5
    http://www.streaminglearningcenter.com/articles/flash-player-cpu-hog-or-hot-tama le-it-depends-.html
Apple may have more reasons behind not installing Flash by default other than the stated reason of ensuring that users always have the most up-to-date version. Having Flash installed can cut battery runtime considerably—as much as 33 percent in our testing. With a handful of websites loaded in Safari, Flash-based ads kept the CPU running far more than seemed necessary, and the best time I recorded with Flash installed was just 4 hours. After deleting Flash, however, the MacBook Air ran for 6:02—with the exact same set of websites reloaded in Safari, and with static ads replacing the CPU-sucking Flash versions.

    And this:

You can check here:  http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/  to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS.
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/909/cpsid_90906.html
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.

  • Can someone please tell me why when I order an Itunes app. , do I always get charged twice for the same thing.  It has happened on two different occasions.  Does it have anything to do with having 2 different ipods linked to the same account?

Can someone please tell me why when  i order an app on my sons ipod, do I get charged twice for it?   When I tried do report a problem with the charge, it said that I can not get a refund on that item.   This is the second time this has happened to me.   Does it have anything to do with having more then one ipod linked to the same account?   Thanks for any help you can give me!!!

It has nothing to do with have more than one device using that account.
After you purchase it once, you redownload it on other devices by the following, not like purchasing a new app.
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If you really got charged twice for purchases the same app twice with the same account contact iTunes again by:
Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us
Make sure that they are really the same app first.

  • My husband and I have our iphones  and icloud set up. He is getting all my text messages coming through to his phone, how can i get this changed so it does not happen? does it have anything to do with icloud?

My husband and i have our iphones set up. He is getting all my text messages that are coming through to my phone, how can i elminate this problem? Does it have anything to do with out icloud?

Well, you use the different accounts such Phone Numbers, email addresses. And make sure that your iPhones have no receipient address in common, then you can avoid this issue.
I use iMessage on my iPhone, iPad, MacBook Pro, iPod touch.
Each of them has a individual address to receive messages, so they won't combine all the messages among all the devices.
Try this, if it doesn't work, tell me, I'll figure another way out.

  • HT5423 Does Apple have anything official documentation listing compliance with UN38.3, UL 2054, and UL 60950-1?

While it's nice to claim compliance in a Press Release, does Apple have anything official backing this up, like a test certificate, or at lease a Statement of Conformity listing UN38.3, UL 2054, and UL 60950-1? These aren't listed in Apple's "Important Product Information Guide."

Obviously aviation is a special use of the iPad.  You come to a forum of regular users with an attitude about Apple and it takes numerous posts before you so much as give us a hint as to your (alleged) real needs.  Perhaps if you're really interested in the information, rather than simply trying to make some sort of a point, you would ask United Airlines or American Airlines why they chose the iPad.  Naturally, you could also ask the FAA why they gave their approval.  In fact, you could always ask Apple, which apparently you never did.
On the other hand, you could simply stay here foolishly trying to make a point about Apple.

  • Does firefox have anything similar to MSN games? can't find it, and I miss the interaction from texas hold'em and hearts.

Msn games allows for multiple online players to compete in a variety of games---it looks like firefox is not supported on this[disappointed], nor does firefox have anything close to this up and running.

'''Edit: '''According to the additional information in your post, you already do have Flash and Java installed. Sorry I didn't notice that before.
'''Edit #2: '''I took a look at Hearts and you're right: Microsoft prevents you from playing in any browser other than Internet Explorer. I think you will still have to use IE to play those games.

The glass on my iPhone 5 is missing and now my camera won't focus does it have anything to do with the glass missing?! Would buying a iPhone extension lens like the ones you just clip on the phone help?

Wow seems like some physical damage to the iPhone whether this is a manufacturing defect or misuse it would need to be evaluated and determined at either an Apple Store or Service provider. And yes this is most likely causing the camera not to focus.

    Rob, others,
For CS6 (as for CS5 and CS5.5), registration with Adobe forms part of activation, so none of them can be run without Adobe having your registration number.
So they must have it, and you must be able to get it, through your Adobe ID, or if that has changed through some other information such as name, email address, or something.
You should be able to get help one of these places if needed,
Serial number and activation support (non-CC, chat open between 5AM and 7PM PST/PDT on workdays)

  • I am a writer who recently moved from the PC world and purchased a MacBook Air. I love the Air. However, I use MS Word extensively. I am use to the extensive grammar settings in Word. Does Pages have anything that robust? I can't find it. Thanks.

Does Pages have the robust grammar settings that MS Word has? I can't find them. Word identifies run-on sentences, possessives and plurals, subject-verb disagreement, passive voice, split infinitives, contractions, excessively wordy sentences, etc. Does Pages have those capablities? If not and I buy MS Word for mac, does it perform well on the Mac?

If you would like to check out what sorts of issues people have with MS Word for Mac, you can have a look a the forum run by MS for that:

  • Dirsync - does it have to be done at forest level?

    Hi,
    Scenario:
    Single Forest
    3 Domains (DomainA, DomainB, DomainC)
Each domain has a separate Azure Tenant, the key is not to have user "bleed" between tenants thus only users in DomainA are in AzureTenantA, users in DomanB in AzureTenantB etc.  As I understand it the only way to achieve this
is to install a DirSync server per domain but at Forest level and then apply filters to stop the sync'ing of the all the users within the entire Forest into the Azure tenants.
Which brings me to the question in the title of this thread, does DirSync have to be done at the forest level?
    Cheers
    Rob

    Thanks for the reply Vivian.
With a bit of testing I've got this working now.
I built a test Active Directory on-premise with a single root domain forest with two tree domains like so:
The plan is to only sync the users from DomainA into AAD.
I've installed DirSync onto the DC in DomainA and configured a service account within this domain. This service account needs adding to the Enterprise Admins group in the root forest domain.  I also had to add the account to the domain admins group
    within DomainA as well.
On configuring DirSync I hit a "constraint violation" error, this was resolved by giving delegated access with "Replication permissions" to the service account created by DirSync (usually MSOL_xxxx) to  DomainA.  This allowed
the configuration of DirSync to run.
If I now run a full sync the AAD is populated with users from DomainA, DomainB and Forest.  This isn't what I wanted.....so off to DirSync FIM Synchronization service.
In here I opened the "Active Directory Connector" within the Management Agents.  Select "Configure Connector Filter" -> "User" and add two new filters based on "UserPrincipalName" with an "Contains"
operator for the two domain I don't need (DomainB and Forest).
Forced a Sync and hey presto I have only DomainA users in AAD.
Hopefully this information will be helpful to others.

  • TS2755 Why do some of the imessages go in green, and some go in blue, when sending to the same phone number? Does it have anything to do with the cellular carrier?

Can someone please tell me why when you are sending a message to the same phone number, and they also have a I-phone, that some of the messages go in blue and you can see that it has been delivered and read, and some messages go in green and you can't see if they got the messageor if they have read the message?

SMS messages are shown in green, iMessages in blue. If the recipient is an iPhone user but doesn't have a data (WiFi or cellular) connection and you have Settings>Messages>Send as SMS enabled, that person will get your messages as SMSs until they have a data connection again.
iMessages have delivered notification (and read notification if the recipient has that feature enabled). SMS does not.
    Best of luck.
