  • CS5 Student & Teacher Editions & Commercial use (in Australia)

specifically student editions not educational version.
I know that in CS4, commercial use is only valid in the USA.
It looks like the older "education version" is no more in CS5 and is replaced? by "Student & Teacher Edition".
I have read in the FAQ from the USA Adobe website that this is allowed for commercial use:
    http://www.adobe.com/education/students/studentteacheredition/faq.html
I have also seen the UK Adobe site that it is allowed for commercial use:
    http://www.adobe.com/uk/education/students/studentteacheredition/faq.html
the image is broken on this link. is this just a template that has been copied over from the USA website? or is this the official thing?
I am from Australia and the FAQ has not been updated and still shows information for CS4.
clicking on FAQ from this link on the australian site of Adobe links to the CS4 FAQ:
    http://www.adobe.com/ap/education/solutions/students/studentteacheredition/
    which is this link: http://www.adobe.com/ap/education/students/studentedition/faq.html
though after some digging I have found the Australian link to the new FAQ but it also has a broken image and im not exactly sure if its the read thing or just a template again:
    http://www.adobe.com/ap/education/students/studentteacheredition/faq.html
    they all state:
Can a student or teacher use the Adobe Student and Teacher Edition software for commercial use?
Yes. Those who purchase this product can use it for personal as well as commercial use.
I havent found anything about "only in north america" stuff.
anyway, i would assume that any purchase of CS4 now would have a free upgrade to CS5, right?
If i purchase CS4 student edition (which here in australia isnt allowed for commercial use) and then get a free upgrade to CS5 (student & teacher edition (i would assume this would be the version CS4 student edition would get for the free upgrade? and assuming that commercial use of CS5 is now allowed in Australia for Student & Teacher Edition) would that mean that I can now use my CS4 student edition that was originally not allowed for commercial use then now be allowed for commercial use when upgraded to CS5 student & teacher edition?
I hope that makes sense and doesnt confuse too much.
I also posted up a thread about my eligibility if im a student that has finished classes and waiting to just graduate now. I was wondering if I may still be considered an eligible student to purchase.

Hi, I think I have found an answer to this but I would still like to have it confirmed by someone from Adobe (please).
    I found a post at http://www.hellophoto.co.nz/showthread.php?3223-Lightroom-3-is-now-out&p=32387#post32387
Where someone in the forum says they contacted Adobe NZ about this:
I asked Adobe about the answer to the question about commercial useage - this was the reply I got
This has caused some confusion as we have recently
changed the policy around this. You are correct that it used to just be
in the US however in CS5 we have changed this to be the case for all
    regions.
In NZ Student and Teacher licenses can be used
for commercial use both during study and after students or teachers have
finished/left. I.e. a teacher can do freelance work on the side and
still be eligible for the student and teacher pricing.
When the next version of CS is released students
who have finished their studies or teachers who have left the institute
can upgrade to a commercial version at the upgrade price.
We do not require them to upgrade so if they wish
they can stay on CS5 indefinitely, when they do decide to upgrade they
will need to purchase a commercial license. We have tiered upgrade
pricing though so it works out cheaper for them if they do upgrade
    straight away.
The main condition for Student and teacher is
that it is installed on a private computer so cannot be installed at an
institute (school, uni or poly). Instead, educational institutions must
    purchase the Education version.
Student and teacher licenses are for home use on
private computers for educational or commercial purposes for that one
person. There is no serial number in the box and verification is
    required.
Educational licenses are for use on an education
institute’s (schools, unis or polys) computers, this is for educational
use only and does not include commercial use. Single teachers should not be purchasing this type of license, the only people who should be buying educational licenses are educational institutions.
I teach Photoshop and Illustrator at a Uni in Australia and would really like to be able to tell students if they can use the Student and Teacher editions for commercial use - If the above is true I think this is a very clever move by Adobe but it would be really good if they made it a bit clearer.

  • Can I use Web Premium CS5 ( student / teacher edition) for charity / voluntary purposes?

    Hello All,
Can I use Dreamweaver CS5 for voluntary work as it is non commercial, I have the Student / Teacher edition. If the answer is no I have also got the full version of
Dreamweaver CS4, so would I have to uninistall Web Premium CS5, student / teacher edition, to use this to prevent any problems?

  • I've heard 2 things:  1)that you can only register the cs5 Student Teacher edition once  2) that you can register the cs5 Student Teacher edition to up to 2 devices. Which one is true?

I need to transfer my Adobe Cs5 software (Student Teacher edition) and license from my old Mac Book Pro to a newer Mac Air. I've heard 2 things:
1)that you can only register the cs5 Student Teacher edition once
2)that you can register the cs5 Student Teacher edition to up to 2 devices
Which one is true? How do I transfer the software and software license?

Regardless of what heard you can do registration-wise, which you only need to do once, you are allowed to have two activated installations.  There is no limit to how many times you might activate an installation, but you can only maintain two activated installations at a time.  So if you have two machines you can have the software installed and activated on both.  If you get a new (third) machine tyhen you would have to deactivate one of the other two machines' installations in order to activate/use the sfotware on the newest one.

  • What's the difference between CS5 and CS5 Student & Teacher Edition?

    Hi,
I've been browsing the education shop for Photoshop, and noticed that there's both a Photoshop CS5 Extended and CS5 Extended Student and Teacher Edition. Also there's a £45 difference between the two. Is there any difference at all in the program itself, or does the Student & Teacher Edition just have the added restriction of not being able to resell it? Surely there must be something to have a £45 difference.
    Thanks in advance.

    Same exact program.
    Student teacher version onc
e you buy it, you own it and it cannot be transfered to someone else.
Also, from reading other posts, you cannot upgrade. But that may vary depending on country?
You also have to provide proof that you are a teacher or a student.

  • Photoshop CS5 Student Teacher Edition

  • Can I install CS5 student teacher edition without using the disk on my 2nd computer as I do not have a disk drive

I have CS5 student and teacher edition. I have a CD. I want to install it onto my mac book pro (2nd computer), can I do this without using the disk.

Thanks very much, well I'm still struggling.
The link kind of worked [took a couple of hours ] but then I wasn't able to fully install it, it said it was partially installed and I didn't know where to go from there. A red disk appeared on my desk top, I clicked it and another window appeared but then I couldn't do anything with it. It said I had to access the download manager but I don't know what a download manager is, it certainly isn't where my documents download to.
My original CD is for student teacher edition which I still fall under, I have a serial number for that edition.
If you are able to shed any further light on this I would be very grateful.

  • Web Premium CS5 Student/Teacher Edition - Cannot Register :(

I have a serious problem with a copy of  Student/Teacher Web Premium CS5 that I purchased in March 2011...
I am mother to 3 college students, we have 5 Macs in our house (27" iMac, 23" iMac and 3 MBPs).  We need all 4 of these registration activations to keep peace in our home.
I purchased and activated a copy of Student/Teacher Web Premium CS5 on July 2, 2010. On March 24, 2011 I purchased an additional Student/Teacher Web Premium which failed to register. I understand why the registration attempt failed in March. I attempted to register again on July 15th and it has continued to fail.
I've had a trouble ticket open with Adobe support since last Friday (15-July). I have isolated the problem, explained the fix, but the offshore support group has shown no interest in providing a solution for my problem outside the realm of their canned responsibilities. They are very disengaged - one guy offered me a cup of coffee while I waited on hold... how do you answer a stupid question like that ???
Meanwhile, a system error in Adobe's licensing database has triggered my new purchase to wait until March 24 2012 before I can activate. This just blows-the brains out of the employees at the offshore company, causing them to read me passages from their training manuals each time I mention it.
Does anyone know of a US BASED escalation path for support issues ?
I have some VERY EXPENSIVE software in a box that's been sitting unused on a shelf for 4 months
I'm starting to question my decision to "Do The Right Thing" and register the software all under one account...
Perhaps in the future I should create a new account with a unique email address every time I purchase a product ?
    Thanks in advance -
    - Jane

As a follow-up, I sent an email to [email protected] as recommended. Awaiting reply
A silly side note, after waiting 4 months to re-install (per Adobe Support's instructions, back in March) I received the following conclusion from the off-shore support group :
We apologize for the inconveniece. We did not realise that you have already
purchased the application. We were under the impression that you wanted
to apply for one. Unfortunately, the application you purchased on March
2011 will not be approved and moreover the request has to be made within
    the 30 days of time.
Therefore, you need to place a new order because this one will not be
accepted. Also since it has already over 30 days since, you bought the
    product it cannot be returned.
Did you catch that? My license request has been denied because it has been more that 3 months since I purchased the software - even though I was instructed to wait 4 months before attempting to re-register.
    UN-believable !

  • Does Office 2004 Student Teacher edition work well with our new MBP?

    Hello All,
I have an older copy of MS Office 2004 for Mac: Student/teacher. Does it run well on our new MBP's?
I also run iWork 09' but need Office for work. I have read online that the newest MS Office is not that good.
    Thanks

Hi,Office 2004 is designed for PowerPC processors, so you have to use Rossetta to have it work with the new mbp, as it is based on Intel processors, and the performance may not be very satisfactory.
Office 2008 is a Universal application and runs well on Intel Macs.

  • Question about CS5 Student & Teacher Edition

Currently, CS5 is available at an 80% discount for the S&T edition. I was wondering if I were to buy and install it on my current computer, would I still be able to reinstall on a future computer? I'm not quite sure how licences work, or if it's a one computer download. Thanks.

Adobe's educational licenses have never been upgradeable. Typically they're sold at a great discount. You probaboy can buy new full educational licenses at educational discounts, if you qualify as a student or educator.
Adobe's recent, perpetual license upgrades - such as, to Photoshop CS6 - have accepted a student license as a qualifying product. Not the suite license since that is a completely different product, but student versions of Photoshop.
That acted as the affordable entry point, for people who might manage a commercial upgrade, but not an initial commercial-price purchase at many hundreds of dollars. Otherwise these people were never realistically going to become commercial software users, so were never going to contribute any real revenue to Adobe going forward within the perpetual license model.
The Cloud offerings can now be considered as the affordable entry point instead, IMO, given that they don't involve any large lump-sum purchase at the start. You can be up and running, for the expenditure of your first monthly payment only. Even a year's commitment is much cheaper than buying a perpetual license, and comparable to buying a commercial upgrade under the perpetual license model.
So, a person who does not possess any commercial license for the software, only an academic one, is only disadvantaged in that they fail to get this discounted membership.
But AFAICT this discounted membership is given on the strength of having in the past shelled out a lot of money buying a perpetual license. Someone who has not done that, IMO should not feel aggrieved at missing out on this particular discount.
It is specifically not aimed at them. I read it as a goodwill gesture / incentive / sop to other people, who have got to this point much more expensively, than this hypothetical student will have done.

  • Lightroom 4 - Registering Student & Teacher Edition

I need to register and obtain a password for Adobe Photoshop Lightroon 4 - Student Teacher Edition for my step-son (DOB: 23 Nov 1995), however the instructions given with the software are not clear to me about how I should do this.  I have an electronic copy of his Student Card.  Any help with this would be appreciated.

Hi Jim, Thanks for the information about registering Lightroom 4: student edition.  I did eventually manage to work it out myself, however the information provided by Adobe was very confusing. Regards

Packaged with the student/teacher edition is a little yellow card.  On that card there's a web site referred to.  When you go to that website you will be asked to provide certain information to verify that you qualify for the student/teacher edition and discount.  When that is verified you'll be asked to enter the code included with your Lightroom package.  It looks like a standard serial number.  After that number has been verified, along with all of the other information you are asked to provide, you will receive an e-mail with your serial number that you use to activate Lightroom.

  • CS5.5 Premium Design Student/teacher edition

Ok, I have a problem and i'm not sure what to do,
I already brought the cs5.5 for school uses, however,
i am unable to provide adobe the proof that i'm still in
school and my 30 days is about be up,
so what can i do to switch from student to commerical use?

This is addressed to anyone who wants to help.  (Hi Bob, you seem to be on this forum a lot.)
    Here's my sad story:
I bought the Creative Suite 5 Design Premium Teacher/Student version last year from a guy with a good sales reputation stats on EBay.  He wrote that he's a trainer for the Navy and when he tried to register it, found out that his service to his country as a teacher-trainer didn't qualify him for the discounted version.
I bought it and when I started back in school last week, I got a message from Identit-e that it was already registered.
Trying to give the seller the benefit of the doubt, I wrote Identit-e back and asked if the registration was successful or whether it was aborted because the guy found out he's not eligible.
They wrote me back and said that his registration was rejected because he was ineligible.  AND, that the software has been registered and I can't register it.  --Say what?!
I called them on their logic and they wrote back they won't respond anymore.  Case closed.
So, being as Adobe told me the other night I'd have to take the issue up with Identit-e, and Identit-e has responded how it has -- I seem to be screwed here.  I don't have money to blow like this -- I'm unemployed and trying to retrain myself and get employed again by going back to community college.
I'd like to keep a high opinion of Adobe and that it does have some caring customer service in addition to great products.
WHY would they associate themselves with such a shameful, loser verification company??
Can anyone out there help me?!  ADOBE?!?
    Thank you.
    Veronica
