Does Qosmio X300-13O support quad-core?

Well title says it all; does the X300-13O support quad and is it at all possible to upgrade the CPU?
Found this CPU which uses the same socket as the current CPU.

This depends on the chipset and BIOS.
The notebook supports the Mobile Intel(R) PM45 Express Chipset.
Check this Intel page:
http://www.intel.com/products/notebook/chipsets/pm45/pm45-overview.htm
Here you can see that only *Intel Core2 Duo* processor is supported

  • What chipset does Qosmio X300-14U support?

    Hello
Does anybody khow exacltly what chipset is in the Qosmio x300 14u please?

    Hi
As far as I know the Qosmio X300-14U belongs to the PQX31E series and it has been equipped with the CORE2 EXTREME QX9300 (2.53GHZ) 1066MHZ CPU and with the MCP79-SLI chipset!
The MCP79-SLI is a new mobile nVidia chipset.
I found some important specs of NVIDIA MCP79 Chipset:
    1066MHz FSB Speed
    800MHz DDR2 Memory Support
    1333MHz DDR3 Memory Support
    3 Gbps SATA/eSATA
NVIDIA DriveCache (similar to Intel Turbo Memory)
    Gigabit Ethernet controller
    HD Audio
    TPM 1.2 Security
    20 PCIe 2.0 lanes

  • Qosmio X300-13O - Is HDD getting slower?

    My Device is: Qosmio X300-13O, with 600GB (two harddisks 300GB & 300GB).
Hello, for the past two years I have put/copy/cut/paste hundreds of GBytes (because of my line of work). Some one told me that with time the harddisk speed _well become slower_ (speically that I use eSata cable with my external harddisks; the speed is around 50 to 60 MB per Second )
*1. Is that right or not?*
If I want to buy internal harddisk, *2. Is there speed for it or all harddisks is the same?*
One more thing; If I used the harddisk which the windows on for this use, *3.does it effect it?*
Sorry to take your time, & if any one knows anything about this, PLEASE tell me. REGARDS

    Hi DaYiM_1,
The HDD isnt getting slower after months or years of usage but Windows is getting slower due a lot of installed and uninstalled programs. With other words: HDDs are not getting slower, but Windows. Therefore its recommendable to reinstall Windows from time to time.
    > 2. Is there speed for it or all harddisks is the same?
HDDs have different speeds, like 5400rpm and 7200rpm. Latter are faster but need more power and produces more heat. Normally 5400rpm should be enough for most applications.
    > 3.does it effect it?
To be honest I dont know what you mean exactly. As I wrote, HDDs are not getting slower but Windows.

  • Does K8D Master-FT support Dual core Opteron?

    Hi,
Does K8D Master-FT support dual core Opteron? I saw the latest BIOS was released at 2003/12/11 and said to support for all series of AMD Opteron(up to 248, SC, 2.2GHz/1M).
    Thx, Xuekun

Sorry I only looked after his question.
The entire K8D-Master3 series has support for it: >>Link<<

  • RAID 0 on Qosmio X300-13O

I have got Qosmio x300-13O and I would like to make raid 0, but in BIOS aren't any options to make raid.
    How I can do that?

    Hi
I think this depends on software but I think you will need to install firstly the OS and then the RAID software and then you could make some changes.
I searched also for some tips and someone posted this:
Go to disk management (My computer -> right click -> Manage)
There you will see both HDD. Click right on the square where disk 0 and disk 1 is listed and convert in dynamical data medium.
Then you can build a RAID with both HDDs.

  • Qosmio X300-13O - Black screen on startup

Hi, I have a problem with my Qosmio X300-13O.
When I turn on the computer the screen is black, I can hear the windows starting up but I can't see a thing. I've figured that when I remove the battery and plug in the power cable the computer works fine. So my question is: Is it a batterys fault or computer fault?
How can I fix it (working without battery doesn't count)?
I'l add that i still have a warranty (I bought my X300 on may this year).

    Hi buddy,
Have you tried an external monitor on the notebook? Maybe the internal display is faulty and so you can work with an external monitor.
However, for me it sounds like a hardware issue and I think the internal display should be replaced but an authorized service provider (technician) can check this and exchange the hardware.
If your notebook is under warranty, the repair should be for free! :)

  • Does iMovie take advantage of quad core processing?

Subject line says it all. I just ordered a new quad-core iMac and I'm hoping I'll see a speed bump in Final Cut Express and iMovie, and not just Final Cut Studio...
    Anyone know for sure?

actual version of iLife is single-core only.

  • Labview 2011 executable does not run on AMD Quad Core

I have recently bought a brand new Toshiba Satellite with AMD Quad Core- A8-4500M 1.9GHz processor and Windows 7 OS. It does not run any labview executables. It runs on all my Intel machines without any problem. This is the first AMD ever bought (and the last). I need help in resolving this problem.
When I run an exe on the AMD, under Task Manager\Processes, I do see *.exe process running, but the Memory usage goes up and tops off at 100% and then it returns to 0. It's like a saw tooth waveform of memory usage, as if it's looking for some missing files. I have cleaned up the computer twice now and even a simple Add Two Numbers.exe does not work on this AMD.
    Any clue, anyone? please?

I believe you are running into the problem described in this KB.

  • Qosmio X300-13O Screen cuts out

I was chilling at my desktop today when suddenly my screen turned black. I couldnt see anything, but when i held a flashlight up against the screen i saw that there still was life in the computer, i was still on the desktop, but the light was just very, very weak. After some time it turns back to normal, but after some more time it happens again.
Sometimes it fixes itself, sometimes it doesnt. When it doesnt i got no other choice but to turn off my computer and wait 10-15 min, to turn it on again. Then it works normally again. Allthough, shortly after startup, the same problem comes back.
Basically, everything is normal, after some time (5-10 minutes) screen ALMOST turns completely black, if u hold a light up to ur screen you can barely see what you're doing/whats happening. 30 sec - 3 minutes after your screen turns black, it goes back to normal.
This problem goes over and over and over. It's a real pain.
Its really hard to describe, and yes i have set the light to max. i dont have "weak" light on any power supply option. It's always on max.
    Help me?

    Hi,
Sounds like the Backlight has a problem, possibly the FL Inverter or LCD. I would send it to an Authorized Service Center for repair.

  • Quad Core support for P965 Neo-f

I noticed that on the main MSI website doesn't say that P965 Neo-F.
But prior getting the MB from a shop in Singapore, the shop seller phoned a Singapore MSI Representative and he confirmed that The Mobo will support Quad Core.
So i end up getting the mobo. Can anyone confirm on this or the SG MSI staff has given incorrect information?

The problem is that I there might not be a lot of people who have actually tried to make a Quad Core CPU work on that motherboard.  I believe that most people who decide to go for a Quad Core will probably just buy a mainboard that officially support that kind of CPU (and avoid the Neo-f).  Calling MSI Support to ask if it is possible even though the product description does not mention it, is usually not the "standard" procedure.
That is why I do not believe you will find a clear answer to your question in a user forum like this, because nobody has really tried it in practice.  You might be one of the first person trying to put such a combination to work.  I am sure many people will be interested in reading about your experiences...
Again, I doubt that you will get a clear answer to your question, unless you find someone who has actually tried this kind of setup. Until then you have to rely on what MSI Support told you and hope that this statement is a true one.

  • Quad Core Support P965 neo-f

Im just wondering if there will be a bios update for this motherboard P965 neo-f that will support quad core processors. On this site they have a list for some of the motherboards that will support Intel's Kentsfield http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.aspx?i=2848. P965 neo-f isn't there. Thx in advance

  • Quad core processors support in w550s model

Are there any plans to support quad core processors in w550s model and when to expect it if such plans exist?

The ThinkPad W550s is a model that uses low voltage processors, which means dual core processors only. For quad cores you need to look at either the W540 or W541.

  • Qosmio X300 - Crashes while playing Call of Duty

    Hey,
I bought Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 couple days ago and when I play the game for like 30-60 min, my screen turns black, and my sound freezes; starting to sound like a chainsaw.
I've downloaded the latest graphic driver, but it didnt help. Anyone have a clue of what I can do?
I run a Qosmio X300 32bit Vista Intel Core 2 Duo Cpu T9600 @ 2,80 GHZ, 4GB RAM the game runs fine, but its starting to get annoying to turn off and on my computer every half an our to play the game.
    Any help would be appreticated.
    Regards Blood$urge ;)

Could you please update me on this issue (X300-15G)? I have same issue here.
Nvidia crashed Nwn2 with the supported out of date driver, so updated to a newer version 195.62, but the gpu went above 100C and laptop auto switched off to prevent damage.
So then I used a large fan in my room directed on the laptop, I had to wear sweater as to not to catch flu, not joking, but this way the game never crashed (tested through about 24 hours including 8-hour non-stop) and laptop never switched off. I dont want to do this though. and I know that unsuported drivers are to be used on one's own risk, but I thought I bought a gaming computer, so you see I need to do something to play...
Older driver crashed nwn2, crashed civ4 if I set antialias, showed texture artifacts in homm4 etc, so you see supported driver is useless for playing - at least older - games on win7 x64. It is extremely out of date.
I will try a full recovery from scratch someday (actually I donot think it will fix anything regarding mentioned games), but until then please inform me if there is a better fix.
Btw, In my oppininon it is not fair from toshiba that it does not release up-to-date nvidia drivers for X300 series, since supposedly this is a gaming laptop.

  • Newly bought Xperia C3, responding slowly for a quad core processor phone.

My Xperia C3 is just a week old sincebI bought it and my very 1st Sony phone. Doing simple task is so annoying because of phones slow response to command wether doing browsing to text messaging, i would have to wait for the right screen to come up, or even from stadby mode to making a call, or txt, it responds so slow.. Totally different from other brand of quad core processor I've tried. My phone memory or sd card memory is is not even 1/4 full. Why is this behaving like this?
Could someone Sony-brilliant user or support personnel help me on this please. Kindly help me make my Sony experience a better one.

My Samsung Galaxy S1, which is still fully functional up to now, does not even have a quad core processor, but its not slow like this C3. Same with Lumia 520 & 630.. So I don't know why would a new phone behave like this... Really annoying

I am thinking of swapping out the processor in my T400 Type 2764-CTO, I would like to purchase a intel Q9000 to put in the place of my P8600. I know they are both the same socket but I am wondering if there are any other issues within the motherboard o BIOS that will not accept this processor. Any help would be appreciated?

this is a user to user support site. Lenovo never really releases these sort of CPU compatibility list, apart from what it is in the hardware manual.
But i can tell you that the quad core that you want to put in will not work. The only laptop of that class to support quad core is W700.
