Apps for Mac do not work on iOS devices such as the iPad and apps for iOS devices do not work on Macs. The apps are developed for two different operating systems. If the developer makes an app for both OSs, then you will have to buy them seperately through the respective app stores.

Hi, sorry to butt in...new to this forum and trying to figure out how I reply to certain people who are quite knowledgeable about iPads...I see King P. seems to know a lot of iPad stuff. Can you or anyone help?? I am now having problems transfering .mp4 movie files from PC to iPad (the iPad used to take mp4's...didn't do transfers for a while and now running into a problem of them not taking them). File types I'm converting - .mkv to a mp4. I've now purchased Aiseesoft iPad Transfer (converts and then is meant to transfer right to iPad) - problem is I've now updated iTunes/iPad and Aiseesoft "temporarily" is not able to do that transfer for me. Aiseesoft does give an option to convert to m4v files - should I try that? Should I also try to reset my iPad. When adding mp4 to iTunes library it doesn't even move over (the plus sign appears but it sort of hangs and doesn't do anything???).

The problem is that your Office 2010 package is a Windows application, and Windows softare doesn't run natively under MacOS. As a result, you can't simply download it or install it on your MacBook Air.
You can set up your MacBook Air to run Windows as well as MacOS, using either Boot Camp (where you pick whether to run Windows or MacOS each time the system starts, but you can't run both at the same time) or using a 'virtual' Windows installation (where you use software such as VMware to create a virtual Windows machine which you run as a window inside MacOS), but in either case you'll need a licence for Windows, plus the virtualisation software if you want to go that route. In other words, it's not simple, though in either case your Office software would be usable.
Some software houses are prepared to cross-licence software in this sort of instance - they'll allow a copy for one platform to lapse and charge a relatively low amount for new copy, on the basis that the user has already paid full price, but Microsoft generally don't seem generally cooperative in that instance.

Open Keychain Access in Utilities, use Keychain First Aid under the Keychain Menu item, then either check the Password under that item, change it, or delete it and start over. See if there are duplicates, should be one for Incoming & one for Outgoing.

If Keychain First Aid finds an issue that it cannot repair, or if you do not know your keychain password, you may need to reset your keychain.

I have my itunes account on a windows laptop and before iCloud I used to sync with the laptop. If I now buy a mac laptop and install itunes will I be able to sync it with my songs on iCloud? If I were to buy a second ipad for my wife could I also just sync it to my existing icloud account?

iCloud is a sync service for calendars contacts et al, it has nothing to do with iTunes, anything stored in the cloud as part of iTunes match doesn't use your iCloud storage.
Any music you have stored in iTunes match will have been re-encoded to AAC, providing you don't delete the music in your iTunes library on your computer they won't be changed to AAC, but if you download them from iTunes match to another mac/PC/iPhone/iPad/iPod, they will be downloaded as AAC.

Having problems synching my iPad with my mac

I have one of the original iPads, bought about 18 months ago. I originally synched it with an old PC, which is no longer in use. I have a new-ish MacBook Air, which is where I would now like to synch to for my photos, itunes etc.
I have just tried to synch my ipad to the Macbook, and although it did do it i.e. it transferred photos from my MacBook to my iPad, it DIDN'T transfer all of the purchased content that was new on my iPad i.e. some apps that I had downloaded from the app store, and many books that I had purchased from the amazon Kindle app. or, if it did download them, I can't see them......
Basically, I would like my iPad to recognise the MacBook as being the new place to automatically synch with, and to have all downloaded apps and content held on both sites. How can I achieve this? I am also a bit confused by the 'Cloud' concept - is this somethign I should be using to share content between the devices?? I also have an iPhone, and I haven't even started the process of synching this yet......
Any advice would be appreciated.....

It sounds like you are heading in the right direction. You did authorize the new computer in iTunes>Store>Authorize this computer?
Amazon books are stored on Amazon's servers and you cannot transfer them into iTunes. You can log into your Amazon.com account and got to Manage Digital Content and you will see all of your purchased books in there.
As far as Apps that did not transfer, the first question I would have is did you buy these apps with another ID that you are currently using in iTunes on the Mac? Are the apps in your iTunes library and if so, did you select them to sync to the iPad? If the apps are not in iTunes did you transfer the purchases into iTunes? If you didn't, I am guessing that iTunes erased the apps from the iPad and you didn't mention that.
Connect the iPad to the Mac, launch iTunes, click on the iPad name on the left, click on the Apps Tab, click on all of the apps that you want to sync, make sure that the sync apps heading is checked and then click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes.
If you haven't transferred all of your purchased content into iTunes, you might find this discussion to be helpful.

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)
    •    Launch Settings app
    •    Tap on Wi-Fi
    •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

Help - I have tried the restore but it didn't put back my photos it just started to sync the ones that had overwrote my old ones!!!

I took the orginal photos on my iphone over the past couple of years and bit by bit i uploaded them onto my sony lap top in albums... Nothing to do with itunes...
A few months ago as my laptop didn't seem as reliable so i uploaded all the pics onto my ipad from my laptop, it was today where i thought i will upload more from my phone onto the mac then onto my ipad but insted it overwrote all the pics on my ipad.
I had tried to do the back up and it didnt work the photos were lost.
Then my ipad later today was driving me insane and wouldnt delete any of the pics so i just restrored it back to factory settings.
My laptop has had issues so i have in restored all that to.
I will now in the future just upload from my phone straight to my mac and not mess about wanting pics on my ipad.
I appricate your help but i am pretty sure i have lost all of my photos... My kids 1st day at school the lot...

However they all show to be connected with their corresponding bars and the ip's are all fine. Earlier today it started flucuating on and off about every 5 min making work impossible and now it seems to be completely broken (im currently on my iphone connected though its own internet) Does anyone know how or ehy this happened and how i can fix this? And to know if this originates from the router or something else entirely. Thank you!

Hi - some clarifications would help narrow down some symptoms - just what has been turning off? - has the light been solid green but the modem isn't providing wi-fi? - or is the light flashing yellow with no internet? - which can mean several things - does the light go out completey? - so if you can report on exactly what is happenening and when, maybe someone can help you - we also need to know if there any error messages along the way - we also need the types of devices involved and how they are attached - kind of like a nework map - the more info that you provide, the more answers you will get.

Read my instructions and King Penguin's instructions. This was posted for a PC laptop user but it works the same way on a Mac - the instructions to turn off auto sync will be slightly different on the Mac - iTunes>Preferences>Devices>Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing automatically.
