  • Does Oracle Support Running Oracle 10 Database on VMware ?

    hi experts,
I have 10g Enterprise on a Windows 64-bit Enterprise platform.
I know this is a recurring question - whether or not Oracle really supports customers that run Oracle databases in a VMWare environment.
I found a document on My Oracle Support/metalink that is dated 2007. It says VMWare is not supported.
But I think the situation may have changed since 2007.
So can anyone point me to a document that shows whether Oracle does/does not support running Oracle databases on VMware - not Oracle's VMware product but VMWare, inc. ?
Thanks for any current information. John

    1) Oracle has their own virtualization solution;

    3) Oracle will provide you with support as long as you can reproduce the problem in a non-VM environment.
That last means - it is up to you to prove that the problem is not related to VMWare environment.I have never seen any scenario where Oracle demands you to prove that the problem is not related to VMware.
If its their suggested solution does not work, and they think i should, they want you to migrate it to a physical machine and test there, however this has never happend, at least not for us. We have around 100 databases in VMware, and the common talk (even from Oracle people that visits us) is that the document is only there IF THERE BY SOME CHANCE IN THE WORLD WOULD COME TO A PROBLEM FOR A COMPANY, WHERE VMWARE IS THE PROBLEM, AND ORACLE CANT HELP, they have to have a get-out clause in terms of support against VMware.

  • Does SAP support Solaris 10 ZFS filesystem when using DB2 V9.5 FP4?

    Hi,
I'm installing NW7 (BI usage). SAPINST has failed in the step "ABAP LOAD due to the DB2 error message
"Unsupported file system type zfs for Direct I/O". It appears my Unix Admin must have decided to set these filesystems as ZFS on this new server.
I  have several questions requiring your expertise.
    1) Does SAP support ZFS filesystems on Solaris 10 (SPARC hardware)? I can not find any reference in SDN or Service Market Place? Any reference will be much appreciated.
    2) How can I confirm my sapdata fielsystems are ZFS?
    3) What actions do you recommend for me to resolve the SAPINST errors? Do I follow the note "Note 995050 - DB6: NO FILE SYSTEM CACHING for Tablespaces" to disable "Direct I/O" for all DB2 tablespaces? I have seen Markus Doehr's forum Link:[ thread|Re: DB2 on Solaris x64 - ZFS as filesystem possible?; but it does not state exactly how he overcame the error.
    regards
    Benny

    Hi Frank,
    Thanks for your input.
I have also found  the command "zfs list" that would display any ZFS filesystems.
We have also gone back to UFS as the ZFS deployment schedule does not meet this particular SAP BW implementation timeline.
Has any one come across any SAP statement that states NW7 can be deployed with ZFS for DB2 database on Solaris SPARC platform. If not, I'll open an OSS message.
    regards

  • Does SAP support open tender process for Vendor selection

    Hi all,
Does SAP Support Open tendering process for Vendor Selection.
I men in my clients scenario. For vendor selection process for any material starts with advertisement of tender  in newspaper. Vendor replies back with his quotation. After receiving technical and commercial quotation, the organization go for technical bidding and those who qualify in technical bidding they contest for commercial bidding. After commercial bidding, comparative statement is prepared and then purchase committee approves the vendor. The problem is that any no. of vendors from any where can give their reply to the tender as it is a government organization. So, how to map this process in SAP as we are not directly sending RFQ to the vendor, instead he reply back with quotation directly once he sees the advertisement in newspaper.
I want you all to suggest me whether to keep this process in SAP or out of SAP. waiting for your response.
    Regards,
    Amit

    Hi Ravi,
Thanks for your response. My problem is that the organization advertise its tender in newspaper of all india circulation and seeing that tender vendor reply back with quotation. They don't identify who all are the vendors to whom RFQ is send. only when reply of vendor comes with quotation client comes to know about the vendors submitting quotation. Normally one vendor is selected for one material and 20 to 25 vendors give their quotation. Is it feasible to bring those 25 vendors in SAP if only one will be selected. Because in any way, for any processing we need to create vendor in SAP. So do we need to create 25 vendors, though we know we require only one finally. Can you please clarify this issue. If you want I can mail you the whole process map.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Amit

  • Does SAP support incremental/delta backups?  if so which note describes it

I'm just about to test incremental/delta backups on udb 9.5 fp1.  Now to my question:
    Does SAP support incrmental/delta backups?
Is there a note, I couldnt get a hit on OSS
Are there any gotcha's?  such as do I need to move read only tables to a new talbespace?
Any info on this is greatly appreciated.
    Anke

    Hi Anke,
You can specify whether you want to perform a full, incremental or incremental delta backup and the frequency via DB13 or the planning calender in DBACOCKPIT.
SAP Note 1269697 DB6: Backup Performance
should be of use to you and please also see our administration guide available at our main page
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/db6 under Administration. Specifically check the guide
"Data Recovery and High Availability Guide and Reference" mentioned in Chapter 8.3.5 Advanced Backup Techniques
There is not a specific SAP note relating to incremental/delta backups but they can be scheduled via DB13 and so, they are supported.
    Regards,
    Paul

  • Does SAP Support the "XML Process Definition Language" (XPDL)

Does SAP support XPDL. IF not what is the alternative standard that they support?
    regards,
    Thomas

As far as I know there isn't any support for XML process description language. they only alternative is OMG BPDL, which is still under work.
Many people tend to compare XPDL to BPEL, although it is not so right. I think that this link http://kswenson.wordpress.com/2006/05/26/bpmn-xpdl-and-bpel/ explain it.

  • Does SAP support JVM 1.5.0 for the SAPgui 6.40 Rev 6 for the Mac?

On Tuesday evening, Apple released a software update for Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Release 4 for Mac OS X v10.4.5 or later. When you install the update, it will change the default version of Java virtual machine from Java 1.4.2 to Java 1.5.0. Apple also posted instructions for changing the default back to Java 1.4.2 at <http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303526>.
When I launch SAPgui 6.40 Rev 4 or SAPgui 6.40 Rev 6 for the Mac, they both now use JVM 1.5.0. Does SAP support that, or should I follow Apple's instructions for changing the default JVM back to 1.4.2?
Here is the information from the "About SAPgui" boxes.
SAPGUI for Java 6.40 rev 4
    (Version ID 064000040400)
    Build: Thu Sep 1 02:10:41 MEST 2005 on uw1059
Java VM: Apple Computer, Inc. Version 1.5.0_06-64
OS: Mac OS X(ppc) Version 10.4.6
APGUI for Java 6.40 rev 6
    (Version ID 064000040600)
    Build: Wed Dec 21 13:01:37 MET 2005 on uw1059
Java VM: Apple Computer, Inc. Version 1.5.0_06-64
OS: Mac OS X(ppc) Version 10.4.6

    Hello,
as indicated in the system requirements of SAP GUI for Java 6.40, JRE 1.4.2 is the only supported Java version on any of the platforms including Mac OS X.
Current Mac versions of SAP GUI for Java 6.40 unfortunately do not block usage of JRE 5.0 after installing Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Release 4, which causes latter to become the Java default.
We have discovered this recently and starting with the next revision of SAP GUI for Java 6.40 we will make sure that it uses JRE 1.4.2 independent from the Java default.
Until then, it is required to change the Java default back to 1.4.2 like described in http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303526 in order to avoid unpredictable issues.
It is planend to support JRE 5.0 with the upcoming SAP GUI for Java 7.00 on all platforms including Mac OS X.
    Best regards

  • Does Sap Supports Linux

    Dear Masters..
Please Let me Know Does Sap Supports Linux OS other than XP
    Zubair

    Hi Mohamed
    From the SAP Portal:-
The application supports the Microsoft SQL Server database. Additional system requirements are Microsoft Windows Server (2003 R2, 2003 SP1), Microsoft Windows Business Server (2003 R2, 2003 SP1) and Microsoft Windows XP SP2 (standalone installations only) as well as Microsoft Windows XP SP2 Professional (workstation platforms). The application also supports Microsoft Office (2003 SP1, 2007 und XP SP2). Further Windows operating systems will be supported in the future. The open architecture of SAP Business One will integrate with SAP Business Suite, as well as other independent software vendors, allowing companies to realize the extensive benefits of SAP from the largest division to the smallest subsidiary.
So it seems that Linux is not an option at present

  • Does SAP Support  Adobe Acrobat 8.1.4 ?????

    Hello Colleagues,
I just want to now which all versions of Adobe SAP supports and in particular if  Adobe Acrobat 8.1.4
    is supported.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Kavitha.

Captivate 4 is sold als a separate product, but you can also find it in the eLearning Suite, which contains also Acrobat 9 Pro (but also Flash CS4, Dreamweaver CS4, Photoshop CS4, Soundbooth CS4...etc). Acrobat Reader (version 9 for the moment) is indeed completely free. Why do you ask this question: thinking about integrating Captivate in pdf-documents?

  • Does Safari support/run ActiveX controls?

I need to have Remote Access to my work from my iPad.  There is a box that pops up stating "This portion of the Remote Web Workplace requires the Microsoft Remote Desktop ActiveX Control.  Your browser's security settings may be preventing you from downloading ActiveX controls."
    Anyway to do this??

The iPad does not support Windows only ActiveX. There are apps that allow you to remotely access your PC such as SplashTop Remote. Check it out in the app store.
