Does SAPlpd pass data to my printer driver?

I am now using SAPGOF device type and trying to print data to my printer. I use "F:Printing on Front End Computer" on my Spool Administration setting.
I expect the SAPlpd is sending data (SAPGOF data) to my printer driver, then the printer driver will be doing something before it sends the data to Windows Spooler to print.
Is my understanding above correct?
Someone told me actually SAPlpd will not use printer driver in this case, but the SAPGOF data is sent directly to the Microsoft Windows Print Manager. So the printer driver will not receive the SAPGOF data.
Is the above statement correct?
How to verify it?
Please advice.
Thanks and best regards

Hi,
SAPlpd is a transfer program for print output using a Microsoft Windows operating system. Generally, we use 'Remote printing with windows os'. In this case host spool system (Microsoft Windows spooler) and the spool system (application server with a spool work process) are on different hosts with remote printing using Microsoft Windows, the SAP spool system requires an external process that transfers the output requests from the SAP spool server to the Microsoft Windows spooler. This process is provided by the SAPlpd transfer program.
SAPlpd doesn't know the underlying printer h/w including driver itself. It just transfers the data from SAP system to Windows OS spooler. Then windows host spooler will send the data to printer driver.
Please reward with points, if it is helpful.
Thanks,
Mohan

  • Why does my Acrobat Pro 9 PDF print driver either lock up or become confused as to where it should store a file when printing a document from within the Firefox browser?

I use Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.4.5 for creating .pdf files on a Windows XP SP3 platform. Firefox 6.0.2 is my browser of choice. This question only applies to the .pdf printing process. All other printer drivers work fine with this version of Firefox.
In attempt to save paper, I choose to print most documents in an electronic .pdf format using the PDF print driver and save them to my USB drive. Before upgrading my Firefox version to 6.0.2 this process seemed to work fine but after upgrading the .pdf print process seems to be experiencing problems. This particular printing process will cause Firefox to lock up when the distiller tries to print the file to what I believe is a temporary folder under the Adobe folder. When it does this I am sometimes able to force it to complete the process but frequently it will only produce a log not a .pdf file. On other occasions the distiller will just lock up mid print without producing any kind of error message. In both cases I will frequently have to use Windows Task Manager to break out of the process which then shuts down the Firefox browser. I don't seem to have any problems when I use Internet Explorer to perform the same function. As far as I am aware I am running the most current drivers as Adobe automatically pushes down updates to me as they become available. Any ideas how I can overcome this issue or is it inherent to the new version of Firefox?

The PDF file itself does not control the "print as image" preference, which should always be turned OFF unless there's a specific need to rasterize the entire page, and is turned off by default in all Acrobat and Adobe Reader installations.
What's the filetype for the ultralight font and what export setting* are you using in ID? If you're exporting to earlier than PDF1.7, OpenType fonts will be converted and may experience some small changes in shape if their hint definitions aren't done right.
*As a side note, bear in mind that InDesign does not use any part of Acrobat when exporting PDFs, so questions specific to that stage in the process should be posted to the InDesign forums.

    Hello All,

The problem is that web applications do not share the same session by

  • Mac does not transfer data from external hard drive when first set up and isn't listed on migration assistant

I've just had a new hard drive in my MacBook, luckily I had backed up everything on my external hard drive.
I've just got home and my MacBook set up as a new one and asked me if I wanted to transfer my old data from an external device. I clicked this option, and a box appeared with me to choose my device so I plugged it in and nothing. It was not listed so I couldn't continue. I clicked go back to continue without transferring any data and tried to use migration assistant. I plugged in my external HD again and it was recognised on the desktop with me being able to open it and see my old document, folders and iTunes etc.
I went on to migration assistant and that came up with much the same choice as the first time so I chose the option again to transfer information from my "other device" again there was an empty box so I cannot choose my device.
I then thought maybe I would need to install snow leopard again as when I got the computer back it was only running leopard and when I previously backed up my mac it was running snow leopard.
So I've now got in my snow leopard disk and put in my password to install leopard and it's not installing!
I'm very frustrated and now it's too late to call apple!
Any help would be appreciated. I don't want to go back to the store again as its 30 miles away!
    Thankyou
    Vicki

Thanks for the quick reply, Kappy.  I did use Carbon Copy Cloner.  When I returned the cloned data to the new hard drive I tried starting the computer and I got the logo and the spinning gear.  It did not go any further.  I also tried starting in safe mode and it would not go to safe mode.  I have other bootable volumes on the external drive that I cloned the data to.  When I tried migration assistant it would not list the volume that I cloned from the failed hard drive.  I can see the users desk top, documents, pictures from the cloned drive.

  • SSRS Bing Maps - Does it passes data over the internet

    Hi,
I am planning to display sensitive data related to clients on SSRS Maps for location based reporting.  I would like to know if SSRS maps (Bing Maps) internally makes API calls to external servers for location based data. Does SSRS maps send data, used
to render bubbles/markers on the map, across the network to external servers?
Thanks for your help and time in advance.
    Cheers!
    A**LE

Yes, yes it does. It'll send your personal credit card information, and shoot your dog as well.
No. Of course not. The bing maps are little more than images rendered at the appropriate co-ordinates on which you overlay data. You are responsible for positioning and providing that data.

  • What goes into a printer driver?

A printer driver is like a translator, enabling your PC to talk to your printer and do things like print, scan and fax.  Printers and PC's use different command languages and communication protocols and they are different for every printer model and computer operating system.
A printer driver is specific to the exact model of printer, its command language, its printing mechanism (inks, nozzle arrangement for inkjets, formatting protocols for lasers) and its features (like automatic duplexing, multiple paper trays, etc.). Many printers have variations within a range.  For example, the HP PhotoSmart 4200 has 11 different models within the range.   Each of these models requires a variation of the basic driver and are tested separately.
Aside from printer models, printer drivers are specific to the operating system they run within.  XP, Vista and Windows 7 use different drivers for the same printer.  Printer drivers also have specific features depending on how the printer is connected (USB, wireless, Ethernet, etc.).
So, what does it take to make a printer driver?  It depends.  For a printer models similar to one another, it may be a quick modification of an existing driver.  If the printer has a completely new printing mechanism (inks, nozzles, etc.) it may take over a year to create a new driver.  If there is a new computer operating system, it is often a significant effort to re-write existing drivers. But writing the driver is neither the hardest nor the most time consuming part of the process, it’s testing it.
Each printer model number has to be tested separately and with a huge variety of applications, from MS Word to commonly used freeware.  There are literally rooms full of printer models running on computers with a new operating system printing from dozens of different applications.  This process takes a long time and is very labor intensive.  If a defect is found, it has to be fixed and the entire testing process re-started.  It often takes longer and costs more money to test a printer driver than to create one.
In the case of a major operating system upgrade like Windows 7, HP has to take a close look at a number of considerations to choose for which HP printers to create new drivers.  It costs HP many thousands of dollars and many months to update and test a driver for a new operating system.  HP has been busy creating and publishing printer drivers in preparation for the introduction of Windows 7.  HP and Microsoft partnered to include drivers in the Windows 7 operating system for the majority of HP imaging and printing products introduced in recent years.
Here is a list of printer drivers currently available for Windows 7.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

    What are drivers?
Drivers are small software program that help control devices attached to your computer because drivers enable your operating system and other software to communicate with various hardware devices, controllers, and other peripherals. In other words, drivers work as instruction manuals that provide software with the information with regard to controlling and communicating with different hardware devices.
    Why do we need drivers?
Drivers help computers identify and run installed hardware. A device driver is a code that an operating system uses to control disk devices, display adapters, input devices such as a mouse or trackball, modems, fax machines, printers, and other hardware. Without drivers, computers will not be able to distinguish between a sound card and a modem. Most computer devices and peripherals need drivers to run, which means that computer accessories, such as printers, scanners and digital cameras also need drivers to function. This is what all computer hardware and accessories that are purchased come with drivers stored in either a floppy disk or a CD. A computer automatically loads the drivers when these disks are inserted in their respective drives.
Like any other software, drivers are upgraded and updated by the manufacturers to remove bugs, add extra functionality to the hardware or to improve the performance of the device. Unless you update your drivers regularly you may face problems ranging from the relatively minor, such as having hardware that seems to perform poorly, to the more major problems such as hardware failure, hardware conflicts and complete system crashes.
Choosing and installing the correct device drivers for a given hardware is often a key component of computer system configuration.
    Where you can get Drivers?
Drivers can also be downloaded from the websites of hardware manufacturers. You can download the most recent or updated drivers for your hardware. You can do this by navigating through each manufacturer’s website and searching for the page that allows you to download drivers for their products. However, there are some software (ex.  driver robot) that automatically scans your computer, looks for the drivers you need, and automatically installs them to your computer. These kinds of software are very easy to use and they can ensure that you will have the most up-to-date driver for your devices.

  • I have an Apple Macbook and will be backing up the entire system to an external hard drive utilizing the Time Machine application. when I am doing this, will the data on the external drive that I am using be erased?

I have an Apple Macbook and will be backing up the entire system in order to upgrade to a newer OS. I will be using an external hard drive to do this and there is already data on it. To complete the backup, i will be using the Time Machine application. Does this application wipe out all of the existing data on the external hard drive, or will it create a new "folder" for the backup?
    thank you

No, but as steve359 states you should use a dedicated hard drive for backups. It you need a temporary backup then you can use the drive provided it has sufficient space for all your data on the hard drive.
When Time Machine finds that the drive has data on it already it may decide to erase the drive before continuing, which is another reason to use a dedicated drive.

That sounds like the GEAR drivers that iTunes uses for burning and importing aren't going in properly. (or there's damaged GEAR drivers for an old install stuck on the PC.
Perhaps manually uninstalling and reinstalling the GEAR drivers can get you past this. There's instructions for that on the GEAR wiki:

  • Viewset does not have data passed from GenIL

    Hi All,
We have a custom component in which data is not getting passed from a ViewSet to the Overview page. The details of the issue are given below:
There is a detail view zsoEF and a table view zsoChild. These 2 views are housed in a viewset zsoVS. This view set has an event Eh_OnBack which requires the data from views zsoEF and zsoChild to be passed to overview view zsoOV.
We recently upgraded to CRM 7.0. After the upgrade, the values entered on the views zsoEF and zsoChild are processed in the ZGenIL. The context nodes and the custom controllers are filled correctly with the screen values and some auto added data based on validations..
When we click on the Back button, then Eh_OnBack does not have data in the Custom Controller. I am not able to pin point the reason for this missing data in the Back event. From the way i understand, when we do data binding in the views, we don't have to do that in ViewSet. Has there been any change in this design in CRM 7.0?
I would like to know if there is any workaround for this issue.
    Thanks,
    Rini

    Hi Rini,
Did you try to bind the context nodes with the component controller. Can give it a try whether it resolves the problem. Any way it is difficult to say anything as we don't have an idea what exactly you did in the component. Lets take it forward. In the mean time have a look in the below link.

  • Does using Group Policy Preferences to deploy printers require the print driver to be pre-installed?

I'm trying to prepare our school system for Windows 7 (we currently use XP).  I would like to use the new Group Policy Preferences method of deploying printers.  I pushed out the XP client side extensions through WSUS.  In my test environment, I added the shared printer in group policy preferences.  My XP machine had the printers show up automatically, but my Windows 7 machine did not.  I realized that I had previously connected a printer of the same type to my XP machine before and the drivers were already installed.  To test this theory, I manually connected the shared printers to the Windows 7 machine, deleted them, then logged off and back on.  Now the printers are showing up from group policy.  My question is does using group policy preferences to deploy printers require the print driver to be pre-installed?  If not, then what am I doing wrong?  If so, is there a way to work around this?  Thanks for your help.
EDIT:  To clarify, I am using the share method in GPP.  This is the error message I get in the event log:
The user 'PRINTERNAME' preference item in the 'win7 printer test {946461A1-27F8-406F-A0B3-0A1A05AF34F6}' Group Policy object did not apply because it failed with error code '0x80070bcb The specified printer driver was not found on the system and needs to be downloaded.' This error was suppressed.

This link have a description of resolution:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc725938.aspx
    Open the GPMC.
Open the GPO where the printer connections are deployed, and navigate to Computer Configuration, Policies, Administrative Templates, Control
    Panel, and thenPrinters.
    Note
The Point and Print Restrictions setting can also be found under User Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Control Panel\Printers.
This policy is ignored by Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, but is enforced by earlier editions of Windows including Windows XP with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, and Windows Server 2008. We recommend that you change
this policy setting in both locations so that all down-level clients have a consistent experience.
Right-click Point and Print Restrictions, and then click Properties.
    Click Enabled.
    Clear the following check boxes:
Users can only point and print to these servers
Users can only point and print to machines in their forest
In the When installing drivers for a new connection box, select Do not show warning or elevation prompt.
Scroll down, and in the When updating drivers for an existing connection box, select Show warning only.
    Click OK.

  • Validation "is a valid date" does not pass but Apex proceeding anyway

    Hi,
I have a simple date-item which I validate first against "not null", then for "is a valid date", then that the date is not in the future.
In debug mode the first validation passes, the second ( is a valid date ) does not pass, but the validation process proceeds anyway...!? Then the third validation "date not in the future" produces ad DB-Error because it is not a valid date.
Why does the validation proceed even if the validation does not pass...?
    Version 2.2.0
    Juergen

    Juergen,
"In debug mode the first validation passes, the second ( is a valid date ) does not pass, but the validation process proceeds anyway...!?"
Do you mean that the third validation is firing even though the second is failing? This behaviour is correct. All validations fire (regardless of any having already failed) unless they have specific conditions set on them to make them act differently.
If you don't want the third validation to fire if the second has failed then you will need to put a condition on the 3rd validation to prevent this. Alternatively you could bundle all you validations into one of type "PL/SQL returning Error Text" then have some IF...THEN...ELSE logic in your PL/SQL to return the relevant validatoin text depending on what the problem is (i.e. Date is null, date is invalid or date is in the future).

Does ODBC encrypts data while passing through the network?

ODBC uses the underlying Oracle networking components to transmit data. By default, these components do not encrypt data, although they can be made to do so-- see the "SSL Encryption" thread from a few days ago.

  • Envelope Data Merge using Word keeps complainging about my print driver

I'm merging an address list with an envelope to print in Word. I've done this before and not had a problem. However, since I'm using oddball size envelopes (not one of the presets like US Letter), I keep getting this error message when I send it to print: "Paper Size Error: The paper size selected in the printer driver software does not match the paper size IN the printer tray."
    I'm using a HP 5940 Deskjet.
I've tried creating a custom size and saving it to the envelope template in Word. However, everytime I go back to Page Setup, it reverts to default size settings.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks

Since Word is not an Apple product, I suggest you head toward the Microsoft Office:Mac forums found at http://www.microsoft.com/mac/community/community.aspx?pid=newsgroups
That group is dedicated to user questions about MS Office:Mac applications. You'll find more answers in that forum rather than an Apple forum dealing the Mac/Windows compatibility.
