Does Satellite L650 support internal fax modem?

have a new satelite l650. can anyone tell me if it has internal fax modem or do i have to purchase a exteral one.
i'm in a rural area so no one seems to know.

Hi
The number PSK1EA-06L02F means that this is a Toshiba notebook which was released for Australian market. Its a Satellite L650/06L model.
I googled a little bit an didnt find any info that this unit would contain modem.
So it seems it doesnt support.
But you can check also the device manager. If modem is not listed there, then the modem is not included.

Does Satellite A500-1f4 have 3G modem (3G support)? because the sim card slot is wider than the sim card..

    Hi sadek2007,
Normally you can answer this question yourself. Therefore you have to check the specifications on the Toshiba website:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/product/Satellite-A500-1F4/1080923/
As you can see, this model isnt equipped with 3G modem.
To use 3G, you have to use an external solution on this notebook.

  • Internal Fax Modem on Beige

My Beige didn't come with an on-board/internal fax modem, but has a slot for one above the A/V personality card. Anyone know if an Apple OEM 56K modem can still be had somewhere and, if so, can it be easily installed.
I'd like to get my US Robotics X2 modem off my desktop (clutter issues) and out of that serial port. I can't get it to work with OS 10.3.9 anyway.

    Carl,
Faxing in Panther should be doable with your external serial port modem. So you might consider keeping it, if you can get it working. I have a BestData 56K serial port modem that I use for dial-up internet. When not connected to the internet I can send and receive faxes under 10.3.9, thanks to this tip on the Other World Computing, XPostFacto HOW-TO forum:
    http://forum.macsales.com/viewtopic.php?t=1767
Fax to/from Panther using External Modem
I was very surprised that it would work, I thought that all serial devices, printers and modems, would no longer have driver support under OS X, like the floppy drive. If you use Ethernet for the internet you can auto e-mail received faxes, I'm not sure if that's magic or if you have to enable PostFix manually or with PostFix Enabler.
You might get some strange behavior if you enable fax receiving and auto dial-up to connect to the internet, you can't have the modem physically do both, and the drivers competing for the modem connection can lock things up. If you don't plan to use the modem for internet, then this isn't an issue for you. I don't enable receiving all the time, only when I really need to get a fax at home, I can enable it as needed.
I have just recently installed 10.4.6 and have set up my dial-up account to connect to the internet, but haven't tried to configure the fax yet. I hope that the Panther method will still work.

  • Printing from Lion to internal fax modem at Leopard (PPC)

    Hello ,
I'am trying to print with a MacBook Air (MacBookAir3,2; Mac OS X 10.7.1) to an internal modem at a Mac Mini (PowerMac10,1; MacOS X 10.5.8) and it failed with following error message at the Mac Mini (PrinterProxy->Printer->Log & History ):
A fax number was not provided.
A fax number at Fax Information at priniting dialog at the MacBookAir was given. From the Mac Mini it is possible to send a fax. I tried it with different applications at the MBA.
Any ideas what is going wrong here?
    Peter

Yes, I heard about the dropped support for the Apple Fax Modem adapter at Lion, but I send a print job from Lion to a shared internal fax modem at a Mac Mini. I think it is a normal print job with fax supplements at Lion and the remote Leopard has to convert the print job into fax format and calling the efax program with neccessary arguments. At the log at Leopard it looks for me that the Lion printinting dialog indeed ask for fax number, prefix and start banner but never send it to the remote leopard system.
Any ideas how to check this from the shell with more detailed debugging capabilities at Lion?

  • Resting the internal fax/modem

How can i rest the internal fax modem? Some times, if we receive a fax that fails, the modem hangs! The modem is not working until i restart the mac. Can i reset the modem from terminal or finder?

No, I have not tried resetting the modem, as the
method is rather complicated. I have set up internet
access via DSL and do not want to confuse the machine
by doing PPP dialup configuration just in order to be
    able to issue AT commands.
You could try a much simpler method. Try using Z-Term. This will easily present you with a serial terminal window. When you launch Z-Term, it will hopefully find your modem. You can test this after a fresh start up. The default command for resetting the modem is "atz" (without the quotation marks). You could also try "ath0" (that's a zero at the end) to tell the modem to go back on hook. If it is the modem that is truly hung in the open state, you may not be able to communicate with it at all. This would indeed indicate that a restart of the computer would be necessary. That was one of the advantages of external modems. You could always recycle the power to reset the modem if it hung.
First: I cannot do this remote.
    Second: This is complete non-apple-ish.
Third: This cannot be done automatically.
You can work on these after you find out if it is possible at all to reset the modem without a restart.
I'd rather take my chances kill()ing off processes
which is a 10 second effort, and I can even include
these in some automatic launchd configuration that is
ran regularly and upon awake from sleep.
You may be able to find out which processes are involved in receiving a fax by comparing the running processes at different intervals. This may best be done after a reboot of the computer. Open the Terminal and enter the command "ps awxx" (without quotation marks) and hit return. This will list the running processes. Now have someone send you a fax and look at what processes are running as you go through the process of receiving the fax. Sample the running processes using the same command as the phone rings, during the incoming fax, and after the fax is received. A text editor should help you compare the various output data. This may point to what processes need to be terminated when the modem hangs.

  • Internal fax modem restoration

I experienced an electrical storm last week while online. The surge appears to have disabled the internal fax modem on my A45-150.
I tried restoration but the machine tells me it finds no internal modem and asks if I want to download one.
I tried faxing to another line but the laptop does not manifest the signals of dialing nor does the intended destination ring.
I need some guidance on restoringthe fax modem function.

I'm afraid you have a hardware failure.
You may want to add a fax modem pc card.

  • Internal fax modem not answering but sending ok

My iMac G5 internal fax modem will send a fax with no problem (how do I change the number of attempts it makes to send a fax until it gets thru successfully?) BUT, it will not answer incoming calls even though I have set the Print & Fax System Preference to Answer After 2 Rings (I tried other numbers of rings with no success)?
When I connect a telephone (in place of the modem) it will ring when a call comes in and it can be answered normally. I don't have a normal fax machine to test on this line.
This phone line can be split (with a filter on one side) so an ADSL modem can simultaneously use the line. I removed the splitter/filter so the connection is direct from the phone company to my iMac modem with no other devices on this line, but all remains the same; outgoing fax is fine, incoming calls don't get answered by the modem.
Can this be corrupt preferences, like if the Fax Prefs are stuck with the Receive Faxes on the Computer box unchecked? Can I delete the PrintAndFax.prefPane or some other file to get a fresh Pref?
    Any other ideas? Thanks, Jim

I hate to experiment on my own stuff when stuff is working, so I didn't see what would happen if I unchecked all of the following boxes, so I have to ask, you do have one or more of the Save to {folder}, Email to {email address}, or Print on printer {printer} checked, right?
Have you (or to your knowledge, anyone else) ever modified your /usr/bin/fax file to take advantage of the distinctive ring feature offered by many telephone companies? I have mine configured to only answer on my phone line's distinctive ring because I share the phone line with my home voice service. If you have a line of text in that file that reads like:
INIT="-iZ -i&FE0&D2S7=120 -i&C0-SDR=2" (or "SDR=3" or "SDR=4", etc.), that might explain why your modem isn't going off-hook, too.
I don't know if there is, and where a boolean for Receive faxes on this computer is stored -- I don't see it in my /Library/Preferences/com.apple.print.FaxPrefs.plist.
    You have a /Library/PreferencePanes/PrintAndFax.prefPane???

  • Internal fax modem

I want to send a fax from my computer (macbookpro, OSX, 10.4.11). Do I have an internal fax modem? How can I tell?
I can't connect a phone line to the computer because the normal phone cord jack doesn't fit into the port on the right side of the computer.
The OSX help says something about sending a fax via internal modem but that doesn't seem to work.
    TIA
    LauraS

I can't connect a phone line to the computer because the normal phone cord jack doesn't fit into the port on the right side of the computer.
You are lucky that you couldn't get a phone cord to fit into the ethernet port. The voltage from a phone line (48 volts when idle and 96 volts when ringing) would have destroyed the ethernet port.

  • Re: Does Satellite C660 support Windows 7 64bit?

My Toshiba Satellite Notebook C660/01C PSC0LA-01C01H came with Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit installed. I later upgraded to Windows 7 Professional 32-bit.
This supports a maximum of 4 Gb RAM.
The Celeron Dual-Core T3500 CPU supports 64-bit processing according to the Celeron and C660 specs.
Will the other hardware and firmware -- data bus and BIOS, etc. -- support 64-bit memory addressing if I install Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. CAN I even install Win7 64-bit?
    Regards,
    Hedley

If you want to get hardware details about your notebook, why you dont install an hardware diagnostic tool like Everest Home Edit or SANDRA Sisoft.
By the way; as far as I know there are different C660 Satellite series on the market and there are also Win 7 64bit drivers available on the driver page.
So tell me why an notebook manufacturer should release Win 7 64bit drivers if such system would not be compatible?
For me it does not make any sense

  • Does Satellite A210 supports S/PDIF for 5.1 sound?

    Can someone help me?
MY laptop has 2 jack connectors for sound (Satellite a210) ... one is mic in and one is headphones.
If you take a look at the attached picture ( http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=91cpoo&s=5 ) i have a DIGITAL JACK hdmi.... (i dont have a hdmi conn on my laptop)
My question is... this jack is s/pdif?
I'm asking this because I would be very happy if i can connect my 5.1 logitech Z5500 to my laptop and have a 5.1 sound.
Now i have only stereo sound.

    Hi
The screenshot which you have posted in your posting shows the audio properties of HDMI port! This has nothing to do with the headphone jack or microphone jack
Of course many or some notebooks are equipped with a headphone jack which would provide an additional SPDIF (digital) audio output but this has nothing to do with HDMI.
However, if you want to know if your notebooks headphone jack supports s/pdif then check your user manual. There should be mentioned if headphone jack provide an digital audio output too.
PS; What A210-xxx do you have exactly?
Ive got a A210 with a ATI graphic card but my notebook has not been equipped with HDMI port

  • Does Satellite X200 support surround sound like 5.1

Does my x200 20T have surround sound like 5.1 ?

You are right, it supports 2x main + 2x tweeter and 1x harman kardon subwoofer.
So it can create a kind of surround. But can I connect the laptop to a amplifier to use the real suround speakers in the living room ?
I can buy this headset with inbuilt surround speakers. The connections for the headset is USB. The real questions is: Do I get surround like 5.1 through the USB connection ?

    How to update your iPad
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4623
You don't get OTA updates on the iPad until you are already running iOS 5 consequently, the Software Update feature will not appear in the settings until you do so.
You just posted from the website that had the instructions in it. Did you read them or just scroll down to the bottom and ask the question?

  • Does Satellite A200 support T8300 penryn CPU?

    Hi,
does any one know if my Toshiba A200 psae6 with T5450 processor will support penryn T8300 ?
I want to upgrade my processor.

    Hi
Not quite sure if the BIOS would support the new CPU.
But first of all the chipset has to support a new CPU.
If chipset would not support the T8300 then you cannot use this.
But even if the chipset would support new CPU, there is a risk of overheating because the faster CPUs produce more heat dissipation which would lead to higher temperature and this can affect the notebook functionality.

  • Does Satellite M30E supports a HDD limitation?

    Hello,
I have a Satellite M30E, the original HDD was defect. So i bought a WD 250 gig.
But i can't use Space behind 130gb. (Win XP SP3).
Is it possible to download a driver or something else? I updatet the Bios to 1.7. But this takes no effect.
    Greating from Germany.

    Hello Fabian
The fact is that mobile computers are not so upgradable like desktops and you should accept it.
Maybe you can use 250 GB HDD on 4 year old desktop but as you see on the laptop it cannot work perfectly.
I have 5 year old Tecra with 80 GB HDD. It is not much but I use external 2,5 HDD for data saving. You can do the same.
