Does SEPERATE iTunes account for Apple TV (2nd Gen) make sense?

I have 3 computers in household which will home share content to Apple TV.
Each person has a seperate iTunes account with Gift Card balance which are used for individual app and other purchases
Can I create a new iTunes account to use for AppleTV so that if we want to all rent the same movie I can have a gift card on that account so it is deducted from a "community/shared" gift card instead of draining one on the individual accounts?
Can itunes content on all 3 individual accounts be shared at once to AppleTV by turning home sharing on each and logging on with account and password of the seperate account set up for appletv?

  • How do I create 2 seperate iTunes account for me and my daughter

I already have a iTunes account. Just got my daughter a  iPod...BUT I don't know how to create a seperate iTunes account for her on the same computer. I do not want her to have my play list and visa versa.

Launch iTunes with the Shift key held down and create a new library, or use separate Windows user accounts. This isn't the same as using different iTunes Store accounts.

  • I have an personal Itunes account and Ipone 5 and now work have given me a 5s do I need a seperate Itunes account for this?

I have just got a 5s from work to replace my Crapberry at last. I have an exsisting Itunes account for my personal Iphone 5. which I will keep. Is it OK to have both on the single Itunes account or should I set up a seperate Itunes for the work phone?

That's up to you, unless your employer requires differently. You can sync as many devices as you want to the same iTunes account. You can have the same content on each device or different content, again the choice is yours.
If you decide to setup a separate Apple ID/iTunes account for this phone, I recommend you also setup a different user account on your computer & use that account/iTunes for the phone. Do that, & there's no way the data can get mingled.

  • HT1689 We know have 4 iphones in the house is it better to have a seperate itunes account for each one?

We have two itunes accounts right know and it is kind of confusing. I feel like it would be easier to just start over and each of us have our own account.Any suggestions?

If you all want to share music, apps, movies, etc., then you should all log into the same apple ID in the Settings>iTunes & App Store...
But under Settings>Messages, Settings>Facetime>, and Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars, you should each log into your own individual account. That way you can keep all of those seperate.

  • How do I create a seperate itunes account for my husband

I got an iphone, so I gave my husband my nano (3rd gen) for work. I reset and renamed it, but how do I give him his own accountso that every time he plugs it in it doesnt sync with mine?

Make a new user account on your computer. Have him log into that account to sync his Nano. He should also get his own Apple ID.
How to use multiple iPhone, iPad, or iPod devices with one computer
Using More than One iDevice on the Same Computer
This applies mainly to couples who are adding another device and do not want their email, messages, etc. being duplicated on both devices. To begin read: How to use multiple iPhone, iPad, or iPod devices with one computer. You need to establish a separate Apple ID and password for whomever will use the new iDevice. See Apple - My Apple ID and Frequently asked questions about Apple ID. The easiest way is to do this on the computer using iTunes: iTunes- How to set up an Apple ID within iTunes.
On the computer create a new user account for the person with the new iDevice. This will be the user account that person will always use. He/She will no longer use the other user account. This way that person will have a separate iTunes Library
Start by transferring the new device(s) to a new account along with all your data.  Save any photo stream photos that you want to keep to your camera roll (unless they are already in the camera roll) by opening your Photos app, tap on Albums icon at the bottom. Now, tap on My Photo Stream album; tap Select; tap on the photos you want to select;, tap the share icon (box with upward facing arrow) in the lower left corner; then tap Save to Camera Roll.
If you are syncing notes with iCloud that you want to keep then you need to open each of your notes and email them to yourself. Later you can copy and paste the text into new notes created in your new account.
Tap on Settings > iCloud > Delete Account (only deletes it from this device, not from iCloud; the person keeping the current account will not be affected,) provide the password to turn off Find My Phone and choose Keep on My iDevice when prompted.  Sign in with a different Apple ID to create your new account. Choose Merge to upload your data.
Once you are on separate accounts, you can each go to icloud.com and delete the other person's data from your account.
Note: The essence of the above was created by user, randers4. I
have made substantial changes to improve readability and syntax.

  • Can not access iTunes Match from Apple TV (2nd Gen)

I select In the Main Menu => Music => Turn on iTunes Match. I select this option and the iTunes Match screen displays indicating that I must subscribe to this service using iTunes on my computer. I click OK and takes me back to the previous menu.
Under the Computers menu, my computer is recognized and I'm able to stream music and photos.
I had already subscribed and uploaded all my music to iCloud's iTunes Match.
Has any one experienced this problem? If yes, how it was resolved?

Are you logged into the Apple TV for the iTunes store using the same account as you used for iTunes Match.

  • The latest update for apple tv (2nd gen) broke ethernet dns

After the lastest update to Apple TV (Early November 2011) the DNS over ethernet no longer works properly. The apple TV ends up with an external IP address instead of the internal IP address assigned by my Linksys router. The wireless connection works fine, but the ethernet is not usable. All my other devices on my lan work fine (iPod, iPad, computers, squeezebox, etc).
How do I file a report to Apple?

Apple support had me do a software restore which fixed the problem.

  • How to stream TV Shows/Videos from iTunes library to Apple TV 2nd gen

How? I can't do it! I click on it in my library and it just doesn't show... This is the whole reason I bought this product and it is so complicated!!

I have itunes 10.0.1, homesharing enabled both in itunes and atv2, firewalls off both in router and macbook, and atv2 only occasionally will see my library. Most of the time it just says "loading library" with the pinwheel. The atv2 shows connected to network with 100% signal strength. Netflix and youtube play just fine, but it just cannot seem to stream content from the itunes library with any consistency. Most of the time my library will not show under "computers" in the atv2 menu bar. Sometimes after multiple resets my library will come up and I can play a music video or two, but inevitably upon selection of another song it's back to "loading library" and pinwheel. It's just ridiculous.

  • HT204266 Can I set up different iTunes accounts for family members?

I currently have an iPhone 4 and will be upgrading to an iPhone 5. My wife and daughters also will be getting iPhones and I was wondering how to set up seperate iTunes accounts for them and also how to prevent them form syncing their phones with the address book on our Mac. Thanks.

Separate user accounts on your Mac would be the best idea IMO.

    Hi jmb8989,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
Does your wife have an AppleID for her iCloud already?  If so, she would use the same AppleID to sign in to the iTunes store.  If not, here is the information to add or change and Apple ID:

How do I get an Apple ID?
You may already have an Apple ID, and you only need one for everything you do with Apple. If you aren't sure, visit My Apple ID and click Find your Apple ID.
If you don't have an Apple ID, you can create one at My Apple ID. You can also create one by signing up for an Apple service (such as an iTunes Store or iCloud). You should use your primary email address as your Apple ID.
You do not need to create a separate Apple ID for each Apple service. A single Apple ID can be used to access all other Apple services.
I hope this information helps ....
    Happy Holidays!

  • My dad and I have shared an iTunes account for years and I just created a new apple id but I have no Idea how to get all those purchases to this new account. Help please?

My dad and I have shared an iTunes account for years and I just created a new apple id but I have no Idea how to get all those purchases to this new account. Help please?

The old Apple ID (presumably your dads) owns those songs and your new Apple ID does not.  However, your dad can authorize your iD to use the songs by going to Store > Authorize This Computer from your iTunes menu and entering his Apple ID and password.

    No.
One of you create a new AppleID and one use the existing AppleID.
But you can still use the items in each iTunes library.
Create separate computer logins for each of you.
This will give you each your own data. Contacts, calendars, photos, etc. (and your own iTunes library).
