Does SIRI on iPhone5 locate places in Canada now?

I live in Canada, and Siri doesn't locate places in Canada.

Yeah, it has a hard time with igloos.
Have you checked your settings, e.g., settings >location services > scroll down to Siri and turn it on.

  • Siri can't find places in canada

When I ask Siri to find places, for example restaurants,it tells me it can't find places in Canada- is this just a setting issue?

No it isn't a settings thing.  Currently Siri can only find locations and businesses in the US.  Apple have stated that maps and local search support will be available in additional countries in 2012. Have a look here http://www.apple.com/iphone/features/siri-faq.html

  • How come siri doesn't find places, restaurants or maps in canada  .

how come siri doesn't find places, restaurants or maps in canada .I am so angry that apple says that siri does all of that but forgets to say USA only !!!!

It is dissappointing that Siri location services are available in only a few countries. However, Apple never said that it was available everywhere. It is a beta service and they never even had a trace of Siri on the Apple Canada website. They even removed it from the video clips and everything. I consider myself lucky we can use it at all (reminders/calender dates/texts/websearches etc.) we have to wait patiently for our Country to be added. It will probably take a little while due to having 2 national languages.

  • SIRI directions and locations NOT available in CANADA??? ***!!!

Hello Apple??? Canada is not a third world country, there actually is civilization up here. I bought the 4S SPECIFICALLY for the location/direction available thru SIRI. So when I tried finding a Starbuck's - "Sorry, I can't look for places in Canada" I sure hope this is temporary! Not just Starbuck's, but directions, weather information, many commands. Disappointing iPhone

wilmat09, I believe you are missing the point of most of the frustrated complaints on this page. Siri may well be in beta stage, but it was used by Apple as main selling point for people around the world to by the 4S, and aside from small print here and there in obscure places, it was not mentioned in any of the publicities or in any of the keynotes that it was in beta. Also, why not simply generate the response that Siri can ONLY provide locations in the US ? I am using my 4S in Belgium and at first I thought the issue was due to Belgium being a small country, probably not significant enough for the first wave of implementation ... later I experienced same issue in France and UK and am now reading that basically the only country where it works is US.
I have been an apple product fan and user since 1980 (Apple II), and will remain one of the millions of "unpaid apple advocates" , but in the 31 years of using and buying Apple products, I have NEVER known Apple to roll out their main product sales argument (in this case Siri) in beta so clumsily.
In addition, when going through the customer survey I received after purchasing the 4S, I found some very generic (4 in total) questions with tick boxes to reply to, and no possibility at all to provide real meaningful feedback (also a first in my experience with Apple), and after sending a formal e-mail message to the Apple customer service with my frustrations have never received a reply.
Not sure if it is a co-incidence or if it is just me imagining things, but customer satisfaction orientation seems to have taken a turn for the worse with the roll-out of the 4S ... which more or less co-incides with losing Steve Jobs ... I hope this is not going to be the way of the future for Apple.

  • How does Siri know where my office is

Ok I just got my iPhone 4s and I can't work out how to get Siri to remind me to do something when I get to the office.
How does Siri know when I'm at the office
How does Siri know I'm at home
How does Siri know I am at a particular place.
I know how to get Siri to do a reminder by using time, but the adverts say "office" so how does it know
Any help appreciated for a new 4s user :-)

Put your office location in your contacts by itself with a label of office or work. Or associate it as office or work like you do with wife and kids and such.

  • IPhone maps favourites does not open the location

    Hello ,
I have problem with iPhone maps i hope some one can help me.
I have saved many places at favourites under different names. Now when I select one of these location the maps does not go to location , its like only searching by the saved name as its the location name.
Is there a way to get them back ?
or I can get the coordinates from these favourite ?
    thank you

    Sinuosalice,
If you open an email with an attachment in Mail, there should be a rectangle with a dashed line border and an arrow pointing down. This means you can download it - to do that, just tap it.
Instead, if it's already downloaded, there will be a bar on the screen with the name of the attachment, icon for the type of file, size, and an arrow (>) on the right. Tap the bar to open the attachment.
    Hope this helps,
    O.C.

  • How do I get Siri to recognize locations other than home work or other?

Currently, Siri only recognizes locations in my contact that are named work, or home. When I add a custom label, like apartment, and Add a new address with that label, Siri will not recognize that label. Siri will not respond to the question remind me to check my email when I get to my apartment. However, Siri will respond to the question remind me to check my email when I get home. Does anyone know how to get Siri to recognize custom labels?
    Thank you.

  • Get Siri to set location reminders (using multiple reminder lists)

I found a way to get Siri to set location reminders using multiple reminder lists (but you can just use one list too):
First make additional lists in the reminder app: click list button (the lines on the left) > edit > create new list > done. Make as many as you want. I have grocery, home, personal, business, family.
Let's say you want a reminder to pick up apples when you get to the apple store. You must add the location in your contacts to your name in contacts.
    Do the following:
In maps app find the location with search.
Tap the blue arrow > Add to contacts > Add to existing contact
Choose your name in contacts. It will be added under your address for home or work so you will need to edit it:
    Click Edit.
Click on the small label on the left of the new address - it will just say "address"
Scroll to bottom of page and click on Create custom label
Enter the location name like "Apple Store". Click Done.
Important Note: You will need to delete the url it adds under your home url section and maybe other things it messes up with the new contact info instead of yours - so check all the fields each time you do this.
To make a location based reminder using a specific list you must open that list yourself - Siri will not open it for you.
    Example:
Open grocery list yourself in the reminders app
Tell Siri something like: "remind me to pick up apples" (Do not mention the location yet - if you do it will not work)
Siri will ask: "When should I remind you?"
Say: "When I get to the apple store"
Siri will say she will remind you and you will see the location reminder in the grocery list.
This is how it works for me but if you know an easier way let me know! This is beta so I'm sure it will get easier.

I have one thing to add.  You don't have to open the list manually.  Tell Siri:  "Add to my <listname> list".  For example, if you have a list named "Work", tell Siri:  "Add to my work list".  Siri will reply, "What should I add to your 'Personal' list?
and you can continue from there.
There is a syntax for doing all this in one sentence, but I find it only works about half the time. Too many fields for Siri to parse in her current Beta stage

  • Siri Gym/School Location Fail

I believe there is a little goof in the Siri design for locations. You are able to get directions and set reminders to locations associated with your contact on iCloud, so you can add your Home and Work address (correctly labeled) and you're good to go. You can also add other locations separate from your account such as Supermarket or Bank and Siri will recognize those contacts.
HOWEVER, the problem is that like Home and Work two other categories are given special privilege: Gym and School. So even though there is a string for Siri to recognize "Siri, can I get directions to the gym?" Even if you have a custom labeled address in your contacts listed as "Gym" or "gym" - Siri isn't able to make that connection.
So again to simplify: Home, Work, School and Gym are supposed to be easily setable addresses in your own iCloud contact for Siri to recognize. However it locks up on "Gym" and "School" for some reason.
This just seems like a goof on Apple's side - someone in programming Siri forgot to cross their t's and dot their i's. But there is a work around, you can add these locations but when you talk to Siri you have to put the emphasis on "my" as in: "Siri, can i get directions to my gym." It should be able to find the contact, but if you say "the gym" or "gym" it will say you have no yet set your gym address yet - even if you have.

I agree it takes awhile, I noticed that as well. But even after waiting, I (I say I), couldn't get Siri to work for the Company field. Thanks for noting!
Yes, but if Siri offered me the list of grocery stores to select from (In the same way it presents list if it can't pick an item with certainty) I'd be happy with that rather than having to make contacts manually (by using maps ironicallly) for all the places I most want to have location based reminders for. Like "When I arrive at Costco (Sams Club, BJs) remind me to pickup beef jerky".

  • Can I get Siri to search for places in new zealand

Can I set up Siri to search for places in nz when using maps

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Does sslink use web location of content?

    Hi,
When users contribute to our dynamic websites using Site Studio contributor, I've noticed that the link created begins with ssLINK/. I have read the Technical Reference Guide for Site Studio and on http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/doc.1111/e10615/c04_links.htm#SSTRF158 under *4.4 Using Server-Side Script Links* it states that "The ssLINK script link is used to create a server-side link to a piece of data, native document, or a data file. The target object is referenced by the dDocName.". I realise it states "native document" but wanted to confirm that any link using ssLINK/ doesn't use the web location of the content item being linked to?
If it does use the web location of the content item then turning off/unistalling ibr I assume will cause any new links containing ssLINK created post turning off/uninstallation to break?
    Thanks
    Andrew

hello, you have two extension present in your profile (DownloadTerms 1.0 & WhiteSmoke New 10.16.2.509) that could be considered malware.

  • TS4079 Why does Siri say "I'm really sorry about this but I can't take any requests right now Please try again in a little while" ? Is she broke? How do I reset? Thanks

Why does Siri say "I'm really sorry about this but I can't take any requests right now Please try again later"?
I haven't had any trouble up to this morning. Is there a reset?
    Thanks for your help.

Thanks James, I just tried Siri again and it worked fine on two tests.
Does this Problem happen often? I have had my Iphone5 for about two weeks and this is the first time I have
had the problem. My 3gs used Siri to dial phone numbers or use the address book to dial and I never had a problem with it.
Thanks for posting the system status page.
