Does SOA Suite 11g include OSB?

What's the difference between OSB and ESB.
ESB is a component of SOA Suite and it can connect to different services.
OSB has more functions such as dynamic routing and Message Enrichment. If I just buy SOA suite, can I use OSB? Or I must buy OSB if I want to use it in my application which contains SOA components.

I think with SOA suite 11g license, you may use OSB. No need to purchase it seprately. You may refer -

  • Does license for SOA Suite 11g include application server

I am looking through the SOA 11g release information and it does not appear to include a license for the WebLogic server. Can anyone confirm that I need to license the appropriate WebLogic 11g base to run SOA Suite 11g on separately. I wish I could find a definitive statement about this on the Oracle web site or in documentation.

Good point. There used to be some (licensing) clarity in the sense that Oracle's middleware applications (i.e. things higher in the middleware food chain) required the underlying Oracle stack and thus the embedded license scenario.
Perhaps (and somewhat ironically) the situation gets more cloudy now that OFM is really and truly "hot pluggable" (i.e. in the sense you can run on other vendor or OSS containers for instance).
Architecturally, I respect Oracle's Hot Pluggable stance and think it's the right thing to do, but practically-speaking I always advise use of Oracle's container etc. because that is naturally where the development and most intense QA and support occurs. This is not to say that Oracle doesn't support other hosting options well, only that the laws of physics (still) apply.

  • SOA suit 11g uses both ESB and OSB(ALSB)

Hi, I am newbie to SOA suit 11g. Can somebody please explain the use of ESB and OSB(ALSB) both in SOA 11g.In SOA 11g ESB is being used only for mediation.Even OSB(ALSB) has same capability. Then why both needs to be used? Can't we use one of these?
    ~Pradeep

    hello Pradeep,
there is quite some literature on this hot topic - actually it's one of the most frequently asked question from people who are using OSB and Soa Suite.
if you google "OSB vs Mediator" you will find some useful links:

  • Configure OSB 11g to use the same domain as SOA Suite 11g

    Hi,
A quick question on OSB Installation and extend the weblogic domain created for soa for OSB also. Please guide me what i am following is the correct path.
I followed the soa 11g and osb 11g installation doc from Eric Elzinga blog also checked oracle doc. Am quite confused about the directory structure to cofigure SOA Suite 11g and OSB 11g.
After SOA suite install , I Configure Oracle SOA Suite by following the below path
Run: middleware/wlserver_10.3/common/bin/config.exe (followed the blog ON OSB 11g Installation from Eric Elzinga).
I have seen another path to configure soa suite from oracle doc
    SOA_ORACLE_HOME\common\bin\config.cmd
    eg: E:\oraclehome\11g\middleware\Oracle_SOA1\common\bin\config.cmd
    both directory str are correct?
After OSB installation , to configure OSB , I choose to reuse the SOA Suite domain to extend it with the Oracle Service Bus components. so in that case , is it the right directory structure I am following is
    <Middleware_Home>\oracle_common\common\bin\config.bat.
    eg: E:\oraclehome\11g\middleware\oracle_common\common\bin\config.bat
    Thanks in advance
    jk

Eventually you configure the weblogic domain always (either it is for SOA or OSB or BPM or all), so you should use middleware/wlserver_10.3/common/bin/config.exe

  • SOA Suite 10g and SOA Suite 11g? what are the major changes in these two?

    Hi Experts,
I am keen in knowing about Soa Suite 11g. SOA Suite 10g and SOA Suite 11g, BPEL changes? what are the major changes in these two product/tool wise? Is now OSB is part of Soa Suite 11g? it would be helpful for us to know what are the major changes and updates or modifications came in 11g.
    Please share this valuable information.
Is there still any version is in progress from Oracle, which is yet to be officially launched from oracle?

what are the major changes in these two product/tool wise? Few major changes to enlist are that SOA suite 10g was using Oracle Application Server (OC4J) however 11g is on Weblogic and 11g is based on SCA. B2B is now part of SOA suite itself and OSB can share a domain with SOA. You may refer below link to know few more -
    http://blogs.oracle.com/soabpm/2010/03/11gr1_patchset_2_111130_soa_fe.html
Is now OSB is part of Soa Suite 11g? OSB has a separate installer but can share a domain with SOA and SOA-direct binding is also supported now. Refer below link to know more about new features in OSB 11g -
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/relnotes.1111/e10132/osb.htm#CJACHEHJ
Is there still any version is in progress from Oracle, which is yet to be officially launched from oracle? No major release is planned. Patches for 11g R1 may come.

  • Does the AS2 adpater is included by default in the SOA suite 11g or BAM

    Hi,
I wanted to know that does the AS2 adpater comes by default with the SOA Suite 11g package or with BAM or we do need to have a seperate licensing for the adapter.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Jignesh

    Hello Jignesh,
Oracle B2B (part of Oracle SOA suite 11g) supports AS2 exchange protocol. I don't think you need a separate license for that but still it would be better to confirm it once with your local Oracle Sales representative.
For Oracle B2B related info, please refer -

  • "Oracle BPM  Suite 11g" and "Oracle SOA Suite 11g" components

    Dear Friends,
I am very confusing about the "Oracle BPM suite 11g" and "Oracle SOA Suite 11g" and would like your help on explanation as the following :
I have learn that In order to use "Oracle BPM Suite 11g" require to have "Oracle SOA Suite 11g" components to install first. Does it means that :
    1) When we buy "Oracle BPM Suite 11g" , we automatically get the "Oracle SOA Suite 11g" components as well ?
    2) IS it correct that these " these Oracle SOA Suite 11g components" are included :
    (a) Oracle BAM
    (b) Oracle Business Rules
    (c) Oracle BPEL Manager
    (d) Oracle Service Bus
    (e) Oracle Complex Event Processing
    3) Do we have a right to use all of these components listed in (2) ?
    4) Then the answers in (3) is "YES", then Is it correct when the customer buy the "Oracle BPM Suite 11g" , they no need to buy "Oracle SOA 11g" any more when they would like to implements that applications based on SOA in the future (without using BPM) ?
    5) What IF , the customer would like to start with "Oracle SOA Suite 11g" product and decide to buy only Oracle SOA Suite 11g first ; then later on in the future they would like to implement BPM projects in the future. Can you upgrade "Oracle SOA Suite 11g" to include "Oracle BPM Sutie 11g" and pay only the price different ?
I hope you can help providing the answers to these questions. THank you very much in advance.
    Best Regards
    Pearapon S.

This is a question best answered by your Oracle reseller or Oracle account manager to give you all the details but I hope this brief answer helps:
    - The Unified Business Process Management Suite (BPM Suite 11g) includes: BPM Studio, BPM Composer, BPMN Service Engine and Workflow Extensions, BPM Process Spaces, and BPM Process Analytics.
    - BPM Suite 11g requires the licensing of SOA Suite 11g for Oracle Middleware which requires a license for WebLogic Suite.
    - You can license SOA Suite 11g now and license BPM Suite 11g later.
Since the products are layered, I don't see this cutting into SOA sales at all. My personal view is that BPM on top of SOA is brilliant since it provides easy integration between human and automated tasks, builds on many of the SOA concepts that are key for a successful BPM implementation (functional, not the Oracle product), and uses the same IDE. The synergies extend past easy use of services; the same business rules and human workflow components are used between both products.

  • Oracle SOA Suite 11g VS BPEL PM 11g

    Hello,
What is the difference between SOA Suite 11g and BPEL Process Manager 11g?
I understand BPEL PM is a component of SOA Suite 11g.
What capabilities does SOA Suite offer more than BPEL Process Manager 11g?
When does a customer choose BPEL PM 11g over SOA Suite 11g? I assume BPEL PM 11g will be less in terms of cost.
    Thanks,
    Ram

    Ram,
What is the difference between SOA Suite 11g and BPEL Process Manager 11g?BPEL Process Manager 11g is a standalone product and it is part of SOA Suite 11g as well. SOA Suite 11g is actually a group of products and it includes -
    Oracle BPEL Process Manager
    Oracle Service Bus
    Mediator
    Oracle Business Activity Monitoring
    Oracle Web Services Manager
    Oracle Business Rules
    Oracle Human Workflow
    Oracle Event Processing
    JDeveloper and ADF
    Adapters
    Oracle Entitlements Server Basic
    Oracle B2B
So you cannot compare SOA Suite with BPEL.
What capabilities does SOA Suite offer more than BPEL Process Manager 11g?Oracle BPEL Process Manager enables enterprises to model, deploy, and manage BPEL (Business Process Execution Language) processes. It includes a BPEL business process modeler, a scalable BPEL run-time engine, an extensible WSDL binding framework, and a monitoring console. So use of BPEL is limited till business process implementation only whereas SOA Suite offers complete middleware SOA solution.
When does a customer choose BPEL PM 11g over SOA Suite 11g? I assume BPEL PM 11g will be less in terms of cost.Yes, if you want to implement BPEL processes only then you can buy only BPEL Process Manager 11g but if you are looking for to implement a complete middleware SOA solution then licensing SOA Suite 11g will be the better option.

  • Oracle SOA Suite 11g vs jdevstudio11.11

In reviewing the SOA Order Booking Quikstart Guide it requires that you download and configure Oracle SOA Suite. Prior to starting this Guide, I had already downloaded the Oracle SOA Suite 11g Technology Preview which included two downloads (JDeveloper and the update to the design and runtime). I followed the install instructions from the same site.
    1) Having completed these two downloads and installs do I still need to install and configure the Oracle SOA Suite to run the SOA Order Quickstart Guide?
    2) My understanding was that the Oracle SOA Suite 11g Technology Preview included the Oracle SOA Suite, is this correct? If not correct, do I need to also install the Oracle SOA Suite (my downloaded version is soa_windows_x86_101310_disk1.zip)?
    3) When configuring the SOA Suite, per the guide, it states that I should go to http://loalhost:8888 but I do not get a connection. If I still need to install the Oracle Suite then I expect that this will solve this issue (per questions above) but if it already is isntalled with the SOA Suite 11g Technology Preview then I confused as to how to get this location to show up? I can get the SOA Console to show up but I don't know if this is the same?

The SOA Orderbooking Quickstart is for SOA Suite 10.1.3.x. If you want to run this sample, you do have to install SOA Suite 10.1.3.x. This is the current released version of SOA Suite.
The Technology Preview 3 is SOA Suite 11g. This version is in a pre-beta/preview status right now. It has the SOA Suite with the JDeveloper. This version has its own tutorials/samples.
In reply to your specific questions:
    1) the two downloads for the TP3 do not apply to the 10.1.3.1 SOA Orderbooking Quickstart.
    2) The 11g TP3 does include the 11g SOA Suite and you do not need to install the 10.1.3.1 zip to run the preview.
    3) When you run the SOA Suite 10.1.3.1, the default port is 8888. When you run the 11g SOA Suite inside JDev, the default port is 8988.

  • Problems servicing EJB requests on SOA server. SOA Suite 11g.

    Hi all
I recently installed SOA Suite 11g on my Windows 7 machine for a project that will be employing SOA, BPM and EJB services. I created a new SOA domain with an admin server and a managed SOA server. When creating the domain, I specified BPM Suite, SOA Suite, Enterprise manager, WSM Policy Manager and JRF to be included as per project requirements.
SOA and BPM project have been deployed to and are working fine on the SOA server, but I observed the following odd behaviour when I tried to deploy and use a Java EJB service: -
    1. Via the admin console, I successfully deployed my EJB ear to the managed SOA server and can see it in the JNDI tree of the server.
    2. When I try to invoke the EJB from a remote client, the service is successfully located via JNDI and a request is sent, but it is as though the service then simply swallows the request and does nothing with it. No output is returned from the EJB service and none of the logging from the EJB service appears in the logs. No errors are reported on the console or in any of the Weblogic logs that I have looked through.
    3. I tried deploying the ear to the admin server instead and invoking it with the same client. This time it works absolutely fine.
    4. When messing around with setDomainEnv.cmd, I accidentally removed jrf.jar from the classpath. When the SOA server subsequently started, this caused lots of errors while deploying the SOA components, but my EJB service worked with no problems on the SOA server. When I correcteed the classpath and restarted, the original problem returned.
It seems as though a conflict is occurring, which I am pretty baffled by. I would be very grateful for any advice or suggestions on this issue.
    Many thanks
    Jon

    Hi Jon
I don't know the root cause of this issue. But try this and see if it works. Undeploy this EJB EAR application from weblogic admin console. Then Login into EM Console. And in EM Console, expand weblogic domain and select your soa server under this folder and right click and try to Deploy your EAR. And then access the EJB.
We have some BPM Applications where we have one Workflow project that we deploy from EM Console. This BPM App also have lots of EJB projects. We deploy all of them as single EAR from em console under weblogic domain. So far we have not faced any issues.
    Thanks

  • Oracle SOA Suite 11g (BPEL Process) Dependency with Database

    Folks,
Oracle SOA Suite 11g requires a relational DB like Oracle, SQL Server to maintain the Metadata for the SOA & Related Components.
Can you plz let me know with your experience - what should happen to a running BPEL Process if the database (SOAINFRA) is down? Being very specific -
1, Does/Should end-point become inaccessible? Or Does service remains accessible but throws service remote-fault execption?
2, What happens to a process which is in running state?
My experience in these scenarios is not encouraging; we have notices the following -- during the time when our SOAINFRA database is down, the in-process (running) instances are left in a running state. These instances do not complete or move forward even when the Database is back. These instances do not provide any information in the Enterprise Manager.
Also, if DB is down WSDL's are still accesssible, is this right way?
If this is how SOA does work then I would doubt for its merit……...your thought plz????
    Thanks & Regards
    Shyam Kumar

I am not posting here because I'm smart but because your questions look interesting.
during the time when our SOAINFRA database is down, the in-process (running) instances are left in a running stateYou know that BPEL is a state-full product and it needs database support for persisting the process of state so if database goes down it is an expected behavior that processes may stuck in the same state where they were when DB went down. I don't see anything wrong with it.
These instances do not complete or move forward even when the Database is back.Instances should auto/manually recoverable. If this is not the case then you may raise a SR with support.
These instances do not provide any information in the Enterprise Manager. What information you could not find? Can you be more clear on this?
Also, if DB is down WSDL's are still accesssible, is this right way?Yes, again it's expected because design time data also gets stored in DB only and hence if DB goes down, any design time data may not be accessible.
If this is how SOA does work then I would doubt for its merit……...your thought plz????Why so? Alternative of DB is physical memory and that I don't think is perfect for long running BPEL processes and their heavy design time data. Moreover, it will create problems in terms of auditing, support and maintenance. If your requirement is such that it does not need any long running BPEL processes and even auditing is not required and use case is simple routing and transformation with no DB dependency then you may go for OSB which is a stateless product. BPEL is generally used for long running processes and hence DB is the best option, in my opinion at least.

  • How to deal with any UDDI in SOA Suite 11g?

    Hi folks,
I have spent quite some time trying to understand how Oracle is dealing with the UDDI aspects in the Soa Suite 11g.
Back to Oracle AS 10g, I remember, even though i had never used it, that the UDDI repository was a out of the box capability with a very nice Web UI to browse the services The Aqualogic Service Bus seems to have features to consume/publish web services in any UDDI, but no real embedded UDDI in its core.
Since 11g, obviously the way to go is to adopt Oracle Service Registry. There is a seamless integration with JDeveloper 11g (i.e create a UDDI connection to publish/consume/search web services).
My company is keen to go on a open source UDDI and I came to the conclusion that any of those (i.e jUDDIv3.02, OpenUDDI) are actually able to work properly with JDeveloper 11.1.1.2. I got XSD exception or other cabalistic errors that definitely show that JDeveloper 11g can only deal with Oracle Service Registry. I heard that the Soa Suite 11g could only deal with UDDI v2 and v3. CentraSite does fit those requirements but does not work too.
Why is that ? How can I set up my SOA initiative without having the choice on the UDDI ? Does this have changed since PS2 ? I have tried to look up on Metalink and I got a hit on jUDDI but it does clearly state that jUDDI works well now with JDeveloper.
Any answer on that would be highly appreciated.
    Kind regards,

    Hi,
DVM cache policy is lazy load. there is no option to preload the cache with server startup currently. However this would be affecting only the first request the susequent requests are serviced from cache.
    HTH..
appologies for reaching on this late.
    regards,

  • Configure .p7b(PKCS #7 Certificates) in SOA Suite 11g - Enterprise Manager

    Hi,
currently configured .jks file in em - weblogic domain - security - security provider configuration which is used by owsm policy to validate my incoming signed soap message.
(incoming message is signed with the same jks file). so it is working fine.
Now I got .p7b(PKCS #7 Certificates) file from customer, so I need to replace this with my existing .jks file. How can I do this?
    Appreciate your quick inputs.
    Thanks

customer site is invoking my soa suite application, public portion of the certificate which I got from them I configured at my end(.p7b converted in to jks). with the private key (which I do not have with me) the customer site is signing the soap request and hitting my soa suite.
Getting following error in my soa suite side(soa_server1-diagnosis):
X509 Certificate will not be advertised due to underlying exception "oracle.wsm.security.SecurityException: WSM-00057 : The certificate, abc.org, is not retrieved. The following aliases are found in the keystore:- [defnet.org, klmca.org, abc.org, ]".
while converting in to jks I gave alias, I do not know what value should I give. I found
subject: CN=abc.org... in .p7b file, used the same name as alias.
converted .p7b file in to .cer as suggested by anuj, .p7b file contains 3 certificates,so imported 3 times in to same key store file like this
keytool -import -alias abc.org -file xyz.public.cer -keystore xyz-keystore.jks
keytool -import -alias klmca.org -file klmca.public.cer -keystore xyz-keystore.jks
keytool -import -alias defnet.org -file defnet.public.cer -keystore xyz-keystore.jks
Where I am doing wrong here?
Can I configure directly .p7b(PKCS #7 Certificates) file in enterprise manager (soa suite 11g ps3.). I converted in to jks file and configured but it is not working.
Please suggest. This is urgent. Appreciate your quick help.
