Does Solaris fit my needs?

Hello people. I decided to move to Solaris 10, but just wanted to ask you a couple of questions. The first question is the Solaris 10 the right system for me? What i want to do with it? Well, i planned to install Sol10, and to do the web serving (but not via Internet, just Local Area Network (stupid I know)). What precisely I want to do? I want to set up a dynamic web site (like PHP nuke), and to host content like music, video and films on my computer (that will run on sol10 and ofc apache), so that my sister on other comp. and my neighbours can easily add some files, our family photos etc... So the question that i want to ask, is can I do it with Solaris 10? (I know...stupid question, because the Sol10 is the most advanced system on the planet). Is that what I want too hard to realise with Solaris 10 (i mean, must I type for hours in shell, and do that crazy stuff). So to summarize, if i was splutter. I want to install on my PC Solaris 10, and to set up the web server (apache) that will have one MySql database, PHP support and I think nothing more. Is this (apache, and php support) included in standard Installation of Solaris 10?
Second question is how should I set up the network? In the install How to i found this

I do not have any experience with Solaris and other versions of Unix`s and Linux`s. I have DHCP on windows, but my IP is fixed (always 192.168.0.1, and it says that is Manually Configured, but Windows do it all alone, but my sister that access to my network have Dynamic Ip, in this range (192.168.) and it says Assigned by the DHCP. My major problem is how to set up the network, because I don`t know much about networks, and about Solaris. Thank you very much for you answers and support

Samba is what you are looking for. It is built in and you will have to follow the sun docs on how to set it up. It is not the easiest thing in the world but it will be a good lesson in frustration, I mean learning experience for you.
Your friends can then access shared directories on the server allowing them to upload/download html, pictures, and whatever else you need.

If you connect yourMacBook using a MiniDVI/HDMI adapter you will need to use external speakers for audio since the pre-2010 MacBooks will only send video through the MiniDVI or MiniDisplay Port . The MiniDVI/HDMI doesn't carry audio and there's no audio plugs on the TV to work with HDMI since it's expecting audio with the HDMI.
If your TV has a DVI input plug you can use a MiniDisplayPort/DVI adapter. Then a DVI cable to the DVI input plug on the TV. The TV will have RCA audio plugs for use with the DVI. Plus DVI gives a sharper image than HDMI.

You need a Firewire 800 to 400 adapter or cable or a external USB 2/3 drive (self powered) it can default to the old USB the G5 uses 1 or 2.

My airport card does NOT fit!

I've been searching and searching for my answer in the forums, so my apologies if the answer is already out there...
Problem:
I have a PowerMac G4 (firewire 800 - Mirrored Driver Doors).
I just bought an Original Airport Card that had said IN THE DESCRIPTION that the card would fit my specific computer.
However, when I received it, I found it does not fit!
I've looked at the computer manual and have seen exactly where the airport card should slide into.
BUT seems that the bracket that the card should slip into, is too small. I've now done search after search for which card that I REALLY do need, but all results say that this "original airport card" IS the one that I need. One result did say that I needed an adapter. But I dont see how an adapter would help me if the bracket is too small even for the card.
I am baffled and extremely frustrated.
Can someone be CLEAR about exactly what I need?

If it has a FW800 port on the back, it will use Airport Extreme
If it does not have a FW800 port (i.e., FW400 only), it will use regular Airport. When the original Airport cards were made and speced, the FW800 MDD G4 models had not yet been produced.

Does Solaris 8 have a boot manager?

I would like to install Solaris 8 in a separate partition on a machine that already has Windows 98 in one partition, then be able to boot either Windows or Solaris. Does Solaris 8 have a dual boot manager, like lilo for Linux? I didn't see any mention of this in the installation docs.

WinNT / Solaris 8 dual boot - I have two drives on a Dell OptiPlex. WinNT is on the first drive and want to run Solaris from the second drive. After multiple successful interactive installs from the Solaris CD 1 of 2, I am still not able to boot to Solaris. I have tried Partition Magic v4.01 and System Commander as well as Solaris 8's boot manager. These attempts have resulted either in partitions that could not be managed by FDISK, WinNT Disk Admin, or Partition Manager or a corrupted boot sector.
I would like to have WinNT on the first HD (Disk 0) and Solaris 8 on the second HD (Disk 1). At this point I'd prefer to use WinNT's BOOT.INI file to point the boot sector to Solaris 8 on Disk 1, but regardless prefer not to have any Solaris partitions or its boot manager, if its is needed, on Disk 0.
Any help with this straightforward configuration is appreciated?

Photo does not fit in the screen

I watched that video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KJMi5l9Ru-g and tried this to do the parallax scrolling with the image this on my page. Unfortunately, my photo does not fit in the whle screen, even if I take a . jpg image 3000 px wide. ( look here ) I have no idea how I can get the photo to fit in the whole screen.

I got rid of the stroke and the fill.
I filled with a .jpg image 3000 px wide.
For the future parallax scrolling I need to set up the photo in vertical tile. And this is, how it shows on the screen.
I still have no idea, what I made wrong. Thanks for your help

Getting "Table %TEMPLATE does not fit into window" error

Hello,
I am trying to print a form to an old EPSON DFX-9000 dot matrix printer and am getting the error message Table %TEMPLATE does not fit into window".
This only happens when I go to that printer. I can print fine to a laser printer.
I have tried creating a new device type and copying over the format from the laser printer, playing with the format, changing formats, ect.
I have adjusted the size of the window that my template cannot allegedly fit into but still no luck. I have checked the height and width of the template and the window many, many times and still get the same error.
Has anyone seen this before? Please help. Thanks.

You need to see the width and height of the Page Format which you have set in Form Attributes of your smartforms.
What ever you create should be within this width and height .
So accordingly adjust the width and height of your windows and components within them

Some menus can take 15 minutes or more - No Audio, No Animation and a very simple one as "Brushed Metal" - will take very little time

Some video codecs need to be re-encoded first then encoded in iDVD - this can be problematic for iDVD and most often gives a poor result.
So what video/audio/photo material did You use and how did You edit it and got it into iDVD ?

Hi, I have a little bit unusual (at least for me) problem. I have old video from camera (maybe 20 years) on my HDD and I would like to edit it. Problem is the audio does not fit with video - when somebody talks it is apparently delayed. Can you give me a hint how to fix it in FCPX? I tried to detach audio and move just audio line but it is not possible.

I tried it again from the beginning and now I can move audio to the right. I would just need to move video to the right, so audio stays still.. I need to delay audio so one option is to delete part of beginning of audio track or somehow move video to the right but it is not possible, i guess video track in the beginning cannot be empty....

How often does your CF instance need to restart?

I'm considering CF as an application solution for a critical
department..and not having much experience with it , was wondering
how often does the CF service need to be restarted ? hourly, daily,
weekly, monthly?????

It definitely depends on how you code and set up the site.
I've worked at a few places where the only time we restarted the CF
servers (or services) were when we actually switched servers. Other
places we had scheduled maintenance windows and did the restarts
then, sometimes they were needed while other times it was just for
the sake of doing it.
You should also take into consideration the OS reboots, for
Win2k3 or 2k8 you'll sometimes need to install critical patches
which need to restart to take effect. I don't know about UNIX or
Solaris and the others.

Hi Gurus,
When i am trying to create an "Individual Account" in UI, I am getting the error "BP Category 1 does not fit the data in category 2".
If i try to create a "group" then it says "BP Category 3 does not fit the data in category 2".
It allows me to create only "Corporate Account" i..e. Category 2.
What should i do to create "Individual Account" and "Group". (Category1 & Category 3).
Individual Account (Category 1) - "BP Category 1 does not fit the data in category 2".
Corporate Account (Category 2) - Able to create only Corporate Account
Group (Category 3) - "BP Category 3 does not fit the data in category 2".

Hope this SAP Note : 1232459, Solves your problem.
You might have created a custom configuration for corporate accounts.
Unfortunately in case of custom configurations exist, they are selected with higher priority.
So in this case the configuration for corporate accounts is also shown for individual accounts,
this causes error.
In order to solve this problem, create a custom configuration for individual account also,
i.e for view BP_HEAD/AccountDetails. Object type BP_ACCOUNT and object subtype INDIVIDUAL.
Please make sure that the custom configuration includes the fields firstname and lastname for
persons instead of name1 and name2 which are only allowed for corporate accounts.
I hope the above information resolves your problem.

CRM 2007 IC : error "BP category 2 does not fit the data in category 1"

When I am trying to save the data on the Bupacreate page it gives the error as follows.
"BP category 2 does not fit the data in category 1".
Can anyone suggest what is causing this error to happen and how this error can be corrected.

Hi,
This error usually occrus when you try to set field in without specifing bptype ie person, group etc. In our scenario we were trying to set field in Person which was not present in group. but since do_prepare_output method is same in both, that feild was getting set for group as well. When we placed restriction this error got removed.
