Does south africa itunes sell music?

Does the iTunes store in south Africa sell music?

Thanks, I have loaded all my CD's on but there are items like EP's which are not available in CD's stores here which I would like to purchase from the UK or US store.  I was looking at getting John Mayer's Born & Raised, it is available from Amazon but it does not come with the extra's (photos, lyrics etc) that you get from iTunes. That's why I was wondering why we couldn't purchase music from here.  But thanks your info answered my question.

ok so my sister just came back from college and when she was looking at the top 100 songs the prices came up as 8.000Kr - i'm pretty sure thats like South African but anyways how do i change this because to the US stuffs?

Go to the bottom of the iTunes Store main page (in iTunes) and look for the pulldown and change it to the US as represented by the US flag icon.

You have to be in a country to use its store - you will need to be in the US and have a US billing address on your account to be able to use the US store (that applies to buying and redownloading).
You can use iTunes Match in South Africa, do you not have a backup copy of all of your US iTunes purchases so that you can subscribe to it and upload those that aren't in the South African store to it ?

I had the same issue this morning downloading a pre-order of Alanis, Flavors of Entanglement . I noticed that the only thing that had changed fro me was that I had some song credits for purchasing ticketmaster tickets over the past few weeks. When I went ahead and spent my remaining credits... it downloaded with no prompting or trouble. Maybe the credits issues hangs it up?

  • HT204411 Why are games & music not available for purchase from AppStore & iTunes for south Africa?

I get a cannot connect to ITunes error when trying to access iTunes store.  Also I cannot doWnload certain games from AppStore.  After searching I found out that these options are not available in South Africa.  What would the reason be that certain countries don't have access to these options?

Hey ascott57. This is also disinformation. I have personally spoken to the head approver of games in the FPB in South Africa. The rating charge is only applicable for DISC-based games that are sold in stores, so that parents can identify the games for an age group and also for stores to know when not to sell a game. When a game is sold on a mobile system, it is automatically exempt from this rating system, as the selling platform has automatic parental guidance systems built-in.
There is NO reason why developers are not allowed to publish games to South Africa on the iTunes App Store or Mac App Store. This is Apple not having a section, so developers cannot even target that category, because it simply doesn't even exist.
I registered as a games developer for iOS and when I found out that if I develop games for iOS, I can't even publish it to my own country, I let my developer registration lapse on purpose in protest.

  • When will South Africa be getting further stores in iTunes such as music?

I live in South Africa and as a standard, we only get iTunes U, Podcasts and the App Store. I would like to know if and when SA might be getting it's own iTunes store for music, TV Shows ect. It becomes incredibly frustrating when I want to look at music that I need to change my country to the USA in my account. This causes problems as I have to change it back when ever I wish to download an app for my iPhone.

This is a user to user help forum only so no one here can answer this question.
This has more to do with those who own distribution rights for music that can be sold/distrubuted in South Africa.

  • HT2731 Can you download music in South Africa using iTunes?

Can you download music in South Africa using iTunes?

    You can now!
Recently Music, Movies was added to the iTunes Store. Soon Games will be added (we are hopeful) and then most likely commercial books.

  • When will music be available in the iTunes Store in South Africa?

I live in South Africa and I don't have a billing address in another country. I would really like to be able to buy music from the iTunes Store.
At the moment the only thing that I would like to buy in the iTunes Store is music. I can't, so it makes the store unusable for me.
I realise that there are a number of legal issues regarding this at the moment, but is there a plan to find a workaround for this in future? When will we be able to buy music from the iTunes Store in South Africa?
    Is the answer: Never?
(Is there a loophole/workaround already available that I am not aware of?)

There is no way to know when unless Apple announces.
You can buy your music from another source, Amazon for example.

  • Itunes south africa

When is iTunes going to be fully open in South Africa???
Come on Apple, I have been asking for the last 6years already, the iTunes SA store is terrible.  I want to rent movies, episodes, music, etc.  Its so frustrating having state of the art tech that isnt fully supported or operational in SA.
Please dont give me the "legal response" again, surely by now you have negotiated with the SA publication board on opening the iTunes store completely.  Yes, local businesses will probably close overnight like the CD stores, etc, but the majority in SA have spoken.  We are tired of not having all the features you offer your US, EK and EU consumers.
Please open up iTunes properly in South Africa, please, please, it only adds to your increased market shareprice if you do.  And please please, please, have support for Passbook in South Africa.  Businesses in South Africa need to get out of the "brick and mortar" mindset.  You defintely need a South African "Steve Jobs" at your Apple corporate offices here to engage the policy-makers (or policy-blockers) to implement a proper iTunes in SA.
    Thank you.

I have been asking for the last 6years already
And the answer remains the same as it has for the last six years.
Please dont give me the "legal response" again, surely by now you have negotiated with the SA publication board on opening the iTunes store completely.
Well, you're going to get it anyway. The SA publication board is not the only entity involved, if they even are. Whoever holds the rights to music, movies, etc. for SA have to be willing to allow Apple to sell them there. Apple also has to be able to set up a suitable infrastructure, sort out any legal and copyright issues, and many other factors. Apparently they have not been able to do so, as has been the case in many other countries, not just yours, including countries with populations and hence markets that far outstrip that of your country.
It does not good to complain here. If you want to complain to someone, complain to the record companies, movie distributors and book publishers in your country.

  • Lack of music/apps in South Africa

I know this topic has been discussed before, yet there never seems to be a satisfactory answer.
    http://www.thyon.com/blog-entry/items/apples-lack-of-games-music-movies-tv-in-so uth-africa.html
The lack of availability of music, games and other apps on the iTunes store in South Africa makes no sense. Does anyone know the correct channels an individual would have to follow to make this aware to the higher ups at Apple? I know it wouldn't be difficult at all to get a large number of South Africans behind this change. Having music available for purchase on the iTunes store would be massive here, and this lack of availability does not seem to be caused by South African laws, but rather a lack of action from Apple. This issue seems to have been ongoing for years now.
I don't think wanting to spend money to purchase music and games legally should be such a problem for Apple to remedy.
Any ideas as to how we could tackle this would be awesome!

Its not worth for Music at all.
You cant shuffle / play the next song / forward the song until you tap the screen to unlock the auto lock. (obviously we can set the autolock off)
Music in Play, iPhone is in standby (screen off by autolock or whatever), how do u forward the song ? Nothing provided
You cant jump to next song....Unnnhhh
    Way outs most welcome...
Even in lock mode, double click the home button - you'll get a volume control, a pause/play button and a reverse and forward button.
All explained in the iPhone manual.

  • Why is the ITunes Store in South Africa so limited

why is the ITunes Store in South Africa so limited

Apple can only sell content where the rights-holders grant them licenses to sell it (and in some cases a country's laws also limit things). If there is a particular item that is not currently available that you would like to be able to download then you try requesting that it be added, but unless the rights-holder agrees to it then Apple won't be able to sell it there : http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunes.html
For music you could check to see if its available on other music purchase downloads sites that you have access to (or if it's available as a CD then you could buy that and copy it via your computer's iTunes).
For ebooks there are other ebook apps/stores where it might be available e.g. Amazon/Kindle, Nook, Kobo etc

  • ITunes Store South Africa

Hi all. South Africa is quickly joining the rest of the world with it's addiction to Apple products. Our iTunes store only allows App purchases, no music, no movies. There may be a rights issue with Music. But I really want to set something up for video, so I can install more Apple TVs and allow clients to buy movies.
    What can I do?
    Regards

Unfortunately there's nothing you can do, at least as regards the iTunes Store. Apple has apparently not been able to negotiate rights to sell videos and movies in your country, so you'll have to look for other sources for videos and movies and hope that they're in a format that can either be played directly on the Apple TV or converted appropriately (very unlikely, since all other download stores I've seen that sell movies have copy protection not compatible with Apple's products, but you can look).
    Regards.

  • Can anyone explain why iTunes in South Africa is limited to App Store

In the South African store it appears we are restricted from purchasing anything other than AppStore items, for example:
All the iTunes store content is not available : i.e. no music, movies, ebooks, etc.
Also for the iPhone we cannot get access to any of the iPhone games advertised on Apple.com
Can anyone provide some clarity on why Apple has chosen to restrict this content in countries like South Africa, we have a number of other legal online ways to purchase music, movies, etc. online so it appears very strange that Apple have implemented this restriction.

Apple is limited by what the rights holders will allow them to sell. If they can not come to favorable terms with the people who own the distribution rights for the music, movies, television shows, they won't be able to set up an iTunes Store in that country. And, rights holders may not be the same in one country to the another.
You can be fairly certain that, as a profit making company, Apple would be more than happy to take your money if they could do so.
    Best of luck.
