Does the 2011 iMac have a built in dvd burner?

I recently bought a third party dvd creator and was told that my iMac already has a built in dvd burner

Yes your 2011 iMac has a optical drive.  Look on the right side of it.

Forget the Apple external optical drive.
It is the same one they used to install in iMacs.
It is still a cheap unit, not great on longevity, prone to premature failure and it is waay overpriced!

  • Does the  21inch iMac have video-in?

I'm going off to college soon, and seeing as I already have an iPad, I want to get iMac for work while in my dorm and also would like to use it as a monitor to plug my ps3 into. Does the 21in iMac have a video-in port so I could do this? Would I have to buy extra adaptors?

You can just buy something like this. But it looks like it's for the 27" only.

Does the new imac come with a cd/dvd player/burner?

It's $80.00. You can buy other externals for less, I think, but only the Apple one will work with Boot Camp Assistant for installing Windows and any other applications that will only work with an "internal" optical drive.
If this isn't important for you, then explore less expensive alternatives. Check out OWC for example.

  • Why does my 2011 iMac have a garbled grey screen after booting?

I recently purchased a Mid-2011 27" iMac, and notice that upon each boot, the typical grey Apple screen becomes garbled for a moment, then transitions into my desktop.  So far, nothing seems to be wrong other than the momentary garble (which lasts a few seconds), and all my applications (to include games) run just fine, even after long periods.
This seems like this is mostly an inconvienence.  It should be noted, this only occurred not long after restoring my Snow Leopard install from my 2008 iMac.  I didn't think this would have anything to do with the problem since it didn't arise immediately afterwards.

I have a similar 10.9 startup  glitch as posted here

I could not find any other person complaining about it until I foound this thread.  but I have a mac pro early 2008, and never ever experianced this before 10.9.

This is the only new MBP you can purchase with an integral DVD drive at this time:

A retina MBP will require an external DVD drive.

iMac G5 - you are at the end of the line, though you may be able to upgrade your RAM, or hard drive.
iMac CoreSolo, CoreDuo - you can upgrade to 1 GB of RAM or 2 GB of RAM and get up to 10.6.8.
iMac Core2Duo - you can upgrade to 2 GB of RAM or more and get up to 10.7.2.
Go to Apple menu -> About This Mac to determine which Mac model you have.
Here's what you have to watch out for on 10.6 to 10.6.8.
Here's what you need to watch out for on 10.7 to 10.7.2.
Some stores may not have 10.6 installer CD available, or may not have 10.7 Flash drive available.  For those you have to make the purchase from elsewhere,
and bring it in to the store with you.  http://www.apple.com/retail has phone numbers for all their stores, and extension 5 often will get you a real person at the store, though if yuo don't get it, you might try a different extension.

  • Does the new iMac coming in December have a dvd drive? If not can you use the Apple USB SuperDrive?

Does the new iMac coming in December have a dvd drive? If not can you use the Apple USB SuperDrive?

The soon to be released new iMacs don't have a DVD drive. I don't believe that Apple have updated their site to say their USB drive will work, but the expectation is that it will.
I watched the keynote and when Phil Schiller was presenting the new models I think he mentioned something about it working and he had one on the desk next to the iMac.
I'm going to check the keynote if it's still up and I'll update my post if I'm wrong.

  • Does the ipad mini have built in wifi

I'm hoping to buy an ipad mini soon. But i want to use it for home and on the go. And i was wondering does the ipad mini have built in wifi? And if it does how do i turn it on. Is it like the iPhone and it gives you an option to turn on personal hotspot or what? Thanks

All iPad's have wifi capability. You do the wifi setup by using the Settings app.
You can pay extra for an iPad that has 3/4G cellular. Your iPad uses wifi when available. If not available it switches to cellular. You have to pay extra for the iPad's data plan with your chosen carrier.
If you have an iPhone, you can use it as a hotspot instead of using cellular.

  • Does the iPad come with a built-in dictionary?

Does the iPad come with a built-in dictionary? I sure can't find it! I like the built-in dictionary on my iMac. Why does not the iPad have one?

So, the iMac dictionary also give us translation, because we have activated a second language in System Preferences...there is apparently no way to get this function with built in Apple apps on the iPad, I assume, from your reply...
    Thank you!

  • Does the Macbook Pro have a program to run Windows? If not, what is the best program to do so?

Does the Macbook Pro have a program to run Windows built in? If not, what is the best program to do so. Purchasing a new Mac.

No. The Mac does not have anything to run Windows
You must install either virtualizrion software or use BootCamp to create a partition for Windows. Once you have done that then you must install Windows.

  • Does my macbook air have a built in virus scan?  how can I access and use it? also any recommendations of what software if this is not avail ?

does my macbook air have a built in virus scan?  how can I access and use it? also any recommendations of what software if this is not avail ?

Contrary to what Geeks on Hugs is telling you, Mac OS X does indeed have a basic malware scanner. It is not a feature that is directly accessible to the user, and works a bit differently than every other malware scanner out there. Gatekeeper, which has been mentioned here, is entirely separate, and provides a different method for helping to protect you against malware.
The anti-malware scanner in Mac OS X is called XProtect. When you download an application (or any other kind of executable code), it is automatically "quarantined," so that when you open it you're asked if you really want to do that. I'm sure you're very familiar with this aspect of Mac OS X if you have ever downloaded any apps from outside the App Store. What you don't know, though, is that each time you try to open a new app, that app is checked by XProtect. If it is identified as malware, you will not be allowed to open it, and will be warned that it's malware.
At this time, there is no known malware that can infect a properly up-to-date Mac. All current malware will be blocked by one or more methods.
For more information, see my Mac Malware Guide.
