Does the black screen still happen in Tiger?

Has anybody who suffers from the black screen after wake-up problem upgraded to Tiger, and noticed any difference? Has it been solved?
I remember in much earlier threads that this problem seemed to be with Panther users of Jaguar weren't getting the issue. It certainly started for me after I upgraded to Panther...

In my Powerbook, now it happens to me every day. The sad story is that I used to suffer this with 10.2 and 10.3 and, I do not remember well, the problem disappeared with one of the updates of 10.3. The problem appeared again with 10.4, randomly, with some good days. I decided, 5 days ago, to make an erase and install of 10.4 (from 10.2 I have been always doing updates and keeping all my preferences). The problem now is worst than ever. My fresh 10.4.2 has never waked-up, always the black screen. My last resort, after trying lots of things, has been to put the energy saver settings of my PB to never sleep, and everytime I take the PB on the go I shut down it first. I am thinking about coming back to 10.3.9.

It means your database is corrupted and that iPhoto has lost the link between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the actual file.
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

okay so just as i was typing this the problem resolved itself, but when i went to charge my ipod i noticed ot stayed on the black screen with the apple for a good 10 minutes, so i pressed buttons furiously (!!) and the screen went white and then back on to the screen with apple again. this contiinued for a good 4 tries then eventually went on to my lock screen (which is the very beautiful dom howard not that you know who that is and i dont even know any of you so i dont know why im typing all of this out but i really enjoy typing it's an incredibly exciting past time of mine but unfortunately i havent used capital letters) just wondering if it will happen again

Did you try to reset by holding the sleep and home button until the Apple logo comes back again?
Does it work with headphones plugged in? If yes, did you try to play music in headphone mode, then unplug during playback and start playing music again after that?
If you toggle the volume, can you see the slider moving up or down?

Have you tried another cable?
Another charging source? Does iTunes see the iPod when you connect to your computer?
Look at the dock connector on the iPod. Look for abnormalities like bent or corroded contacts, foreign material and cracked or broken plastic.

I am trying to reinstall winows 7 on my iMac and it will not install. I am using the latest drivers ( v4.0) but I still get the black screen. I have made sure that the auto install and the drivers are at the root level on my USB flash drive.

I am reinstalling W7 on my iMac and keep getting the black screen. I had installed W7 before when using Snow Leapord but W7 doesn't want to install with the latest drivers (v4.0). W7 was working with Lion but I had to uninstall W7 and now I cannot reinstall.

My iPad has been on a black screen for 2 weeks. All it does when I try to reboot is make the black screen backlighted.

Make an appointment at your local apple store and have them check it out. If the screen or guts inside area dead it's beyond a user fix.

On the black screen you can see the pointer, the pointer moves when asked, the pointer gets dark/light with the appropriate keys pressed. Tried turning on/off; also with shift key pressed. Anyone else getting the BLACK screen of death after Kitkat 4.4 update?

Ever since the update, my phone is wacked, like everyone elses. I got my Samsung Galaxy S4 a month ago. Beautiful, loved it. Update happens: I want to pitch this thing as far as I can throw it.
The phone rings. I go to answer it but all I have is a BLACK SCREEN which is LOCKED. I have the lock on the screen, but if the screen is black, you can't see it - and you can't answer the phone! One day, I got a message, and could not get to that. Why? the BLACK SCREEN OF DEATH.
Someone told me to turn off Samsung Watch On and that has helped with some of the issues. But I still get the screen occasionally, and my battery life is GONE.
How do we get rid of this update? Should I just call Verizon and get a new phone with the OLD software? I hate this. I feel like I was the victim of bait and switch.

My (hopefully temporary) solution was to turn off my "Lock Screen" ... to do this, go to Settings, My Device, Lock Screen ... and select None.
The only issue is that you would no longer have any security for your phone and would be vulnerable to someone stealing your phone and having full access to whatever is on your phone that does not require a separate id and password. Dangerous, yes ... but, for me right now, it's better than not having any access to my own phone!
The Android update simply sucks ... some heads should roll for allowing such a crappy update to get (no pun intended) rolled out.
