I was surprised when I found out that an MP3 player made by another company won't support mp3 files below 32 kb
ps.
I often listen to lectures that are at 6 kbps mp3 mono. Now I am wondering if some mp3 players won't support mono at all.

The lowest bitrate the supported converter handles is 32kb
ps.
However, I did have an application which allows me to?save a track to 6kbps mp3 mono with an audio sample rate of kbps and it not only worked on the Zen but it is surprising sounds very good through my EP-630 earphone.

Does the Creative Zen Work like any other external hard dri

I am looking to buy a Creative Zen Sleek or Touch and need to know something. Do you need to use the software and drivers with it or does XP recognize it as a "removeable disk" like a flash dri've or like the ipod.

I'm guessing that WMP will work with the player irrespecti've of the firmware version.
I'm not sure where you bought your player, but in Europe they seem to have shipped with one version, whereas in the USA they seem to have shipped with another to support PlayForSure subscription downloads.
Perhaps a mod can confirm this, and whether Europe will get the PlayForSure firmware if this is the case?

Why Does the Creative ZEN freeze so mu

If Creative is going to have the negligence to deny their customers a quality product, then the the least they could do, is make an external, easily accessed reset button. Not some mysterious switch in a tiny pin hole. It seems like I must always be carrying around a safety pin, either that or constantly be scanning the ground for a sharp twig. Their advice to not stick anything sharp into the reset hole is ridiculous. What else could fit into it's Whenever I turn on the player or switch songs, I have to cross my fingers. From reading some of the posts here, it looks like this is a very common issue. If Creative is going to have the negligence to deny their customers a quality product, then the the least they could do, is include some sort of reset stick that's included with the package. After an attempt to remedy the 'frozen screen problem' with a bent staple, the only thing that changed is the sound of something rattling around inside the Zen. My experience with this MP3 player, and the other Zen I had before it, certainly was not worth the price of this product. If the customer service is as bad as the people in these forums say... then this is going to make a wonderful gift for my trash can.

I could not find the manual on the support site and I need to know if the Nano Plus supports bookmarking audio files. I routinely listen to large audio files and I need to be able to stop and start in the middle of the file.

I have an N200 which is what the Nano Plus used to be called for some markets. If I switch the player off mid song then it continues from the same point when I start the player again.

Hi! I am new to all these MP3 players (I am still stuck in the CD player era) but I have been wanting to upgrade to a new, high tech player. After researching for a LONG time (I have considered the Creative Zen micro, Creative Zen Micro photo, Ipod mini, Ipod Nano, 4th gen Ipod, Cowan Iaudio, Olympus M:Robe500i, and Archos Gimini 402) I have concluded with the Creative products, that unlike the Ipods, have more features for the same price or lower. I briefly thought about the IAudio and the Archos since they play movies but decided that they were too expensi've. Plus, it having a removable battery was enticing since do not li've int he United States and I wouldn't have to be sending things in for repair or replacement of battery.
Now, I was very pumped about the Zen Micro but have since learned that there are a few defects.
the Creative Zen micro, from what I gathered, has a problem that the player stops working and only boots up to the Creative logo. I think I understand that this comes from something disconnecting from the HD inside. ANOTHER problem seems to be the earphone jack breaking and being pushed in.
I want to know if this is fixed in any of the versions of the Zen Micros. I think I heard that the 5GB ones are the ones that do this. If anything, i would get the 6 GB version and would like to know if the 6GB Zen Micros do this. It is at Best Buy for $50 plus tax ($60+ total).
I am also considering ordering the Zen Micro Photo (though it costs $40 bucks more just for color) form Best Buy ($202 total). Does the Zen Micro Photo fix the problems of the past players? Does it have any new defects?

ANY HELP would be appreciated. I am a very cautious buyer and I do not want to hassle with stuff. I li've in the Dominican republic and I do NOT want to go shipping stuff overseas to get it fixed. That is why I am buying a Zen product, since it has removable Batteries and I don't have to send it in to get replaced. I do not want to spend 00 bucks and 3 months of waiting for things.

Not sure about being pushed in, but the solder connection on some Micros was too weak and easily broken.

No-one knows for sure if it was fixed. Creative Support didn't confirm or deny it had been fixed on the board here. Others have had emails from Creative saying that it has been fixed in newer players.

People say the sound quality isn't as great as past players, and there is some slight noise when the backlight is turned on. Aside from not being able to view photos and listen to music at the same time. Search back for reviews by other folks.

The Sleek seems to be a great player. I don't recall seeing any common issues with it.

It doesn't have a removable battery.
It has the MTP/PFS firmware that means you can only use it to copy audio files with Win XP.
It has the USB mass storage function that means you can copy data files to it with Win 98/Me/2000 and XP.
Also, on any defect, what seems to be the percentage? I know creative has not acknowledged any defects but there obviously are, since things happen to the same product, the same way, the same place.

Hello, I recently bought a Zune and then found out it wasn't compatible with my OS, XP Pro x64. I installed the software on my laptop, but it was just too troublesome to set everything up and exchange music, videos, etc. between the two machines. So I've decided to return the Zune and get a Zen instead. I'd really like to buy the ZEN 8GB, but it does not state whether or not the x64 edition is supported. The ZEN V Plus states that the software does support the OS, so if I have to get that one, I don't mind. Thanks.

As soon as I tried to instal the included software from the CD, a dialogue box appeared stating, "The windows operating system running on this computer is not supported by this product." I have done everything the technical assistance group has suggested with the samed result including a clean install. I did load it on my 32 bit laptop. It works fine. ONe of the problems I have found is that the correspondance goes to a different person each time and they are not reading the dialogue. I have found a way to make it work (well somewhat) with my 64 bitg machine. Oddly enough thed software for my zen V load on fine but the software is incampatable with the Zen 8GB unit. I think that there are softwarfe problems and CT is not really dealing with them.

if u wanna change the skin of your touch you ll have to brake the warranty patch that is over a screw and with it end your warranty time.

Let's face it. THe creative zen touch needs something to protect it. I found Creative's skin as protecti've but not truly portable. THe other one from vaja just costs too much. I think we should start a petition for iSkin to create a skin.

Does the 6600GT-VTD128 support video capture?

I recently purchased an MSI 6600GT-VTD128 video card. The product information seems to suggest that the card has video input capabilities, and there is an adapter that plugs into the card that has a number of connections, one of which is labeled S-Video in. However, I haven't been able to get any video capture to work.
Does the card actually support this functionality? If not, what are the video input connections for? If so, is there some documentation as to how to set it up?
So far, I tried installing the video capture drivers that come with the card. I checked the manual. I checked the MSI web site FAQs. And I searched the forums.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Richard. Yes I do have a breakout cable like that. Actually, I described it in my original message. So, I am guessing from your message that you believe that the card should have the capability to capture video.
In my original message, I asked if there was any documentation on setting up the card for video capture. The manual does not describe the procedure, nor does the MSI web site.
There are drivers on the CD that claim to be for video capture, but they had no effect when I installed them. In fact, there appears to be no way to tell whether the drivers were actually installed successfully.
If anyone out there has successfully used this card for video capture, please let me know.
