Does the Creative Zen Work like any other external hard dri

I am looking to buy a Creative Zen Sleek or Touch and need to know something. Do you need to use the software and drivers with it or does XP recognize it as a "removeable disk" like a flash dri've or like the ipod.

I'm guessing that WMP will work with the player irrespecti've of the firmware version.
I'm not sure where you bought your player, but in Europe they seem to have shipped with one version, whereas in the USA they seem to have shipped with another to support PlayForSure subscription downloads.
Perhaps a mod can confirm this, and whether Europe will get the PlayForSure firmware if this is the case?

Why Does the Creative ZEN freeze so mu

If Creative is going to have the negligence to deny their customers a quality product, then the the least they could do, is make an external, easily accessed reset button. Not some mysterious switch in a tiny pin hole. It seems like I must always be carrying around a safety pin, either that or constantly be scanning the ground for a sharp twig. Their advice to not stick anything sharp into the reset hole is ridiculous. What else could fit into it's Whenever I turn on the player or switch songs, I have to cross my fingers. From reading some of the posts here, it looks like this is a very common issue. If Creative is going to have the negligence to deny their customers a quality product, then the the least they could do, is include some sort of reset stick that's included with the package. After an attempt to remedy the 'frozen screen problem' with a bent staple, the only thing that changed is the sound of something rattling around inside the Zen. My experience with this MP3 player, and the other Zen I had before it, certainly was not worth the price of this product. If the customer service is as bad as the people in these forums say... then this is going to make a wonderful gift for my trash can.

I would like to know because my zen micro had the headphone problem after about 8-9 months
and I want a new Mp3 player by creative because I don't like going mainstream when it comes to Ipods.

I havent heard of it having any headphone jack issues like the micro had. I believe it was corrected on all of thier new players.

Creative Zen Vision: M 30GB Video Upload Tutor

I understand the concept of upload vids to my MP4 player but just how do I go about copying DVDs to my hard-dri've then to my device, any tutorials would be much appreciated. I only really want to put a couple of episodes of Jackass, Wildboys or Dirty Sanchez on, and maybe a couple of free music video discs I've got with a couple of Victory Records CD's I've bought previously. I've tried many online links I've managed to copy a DVD to my hard-dri've using '**bleep*' which I was reccomended to use, just don't know if I have to convert it. It is illegal in the US and many other countries CL operates in to break the encryption on a DVD, which is what the software you mentioned does. We cannot allow discussion of illegal DVD ripping on this forum, sorry.

Why does the volume spike when playing youtube videos? Even after i turned it down right before hand

Okay so this is becoming highly annoying and extremely worrisome since I value my ears more than any other sense. I keep having this issue where i plug headphones in, turn the volume down to half way or lower, put headphones on, then go to start a youtube video to listen to a song, and then as soon as the video starts BOOM the volume goes up to full blast. on several occasions now i am worried i have been close to hurting my ears, I am really starting to loose my mind over this. WHAT IS GOING ON? I try to remember to keep the headphones out of my ears before playing the video, but there are too many times where i forget, or had switched to sommething else and then go back just to be blasted by volume. Jesus Christ apple you are going to wreck peoples ears.

If you are concerned about the volume going to high when watching and listening to videos, you can change the volume limit to not go that high. Go to Settings > Music > Volume Limit and set it to the desirable volume. If you are using the YouTube app from the App Store, try out the troubleshooting steps in the second article to troubleshoot the issue further.

I was surprised when I found out that an MP3 player made by another company won't support mp3 files below 32 kb

I often listen to lectures that are at 6 kbps mp3 mono. Now I am wondering if some mp3 players won't support mono at all.

The lowest bitrate the supported converter handles is 32kb
ps.
However, I did have an application which allows me to?save a track to 6kbps mp3 mono with an audio sample rate of kbps and it not only worked on the Zen but it is surprising sounds very good through my EP-630 earphone.

Does the Creative Zen Nano Plus have a bookmark featu

I could not find the manual on the support site and I need to know if the Nano Plus supports bookmarking audio files. I routinely listen to large audio files and I need to be able to stop and start in the middle of the file.

I have an N200 which is what the Nano Plus used to be called for some markets. If I switch the player off mid song then it continues from the same point when I start the player again.

How to save video to play on Creative Zen Vision M

My (PC using) friend just bought a Creative Zen Vision M (the competitor to the video iPod). It will play MPEG1, 2, and 4SP and will play MPEG's created in an older version of iMovie (I forget which, it's been a few years). For some reason, the MPEG4 version created by iMovie HD6 is not compatible with the Zen player.
Does anyone have any ideas of how to export from iMovie HD 6 in a format that can be used by the Creative Zen Vision M?

Sorry about your ZEN Vision:M. From what you mentioned, I don't think the data is recoverable under normal means. You probably might want to take it to a technician? or someone who is familar with electronics to see if they can remove the harddisk from the ZEN Vision:M and recover the data.

Is there any legal way to get one of "creative zen vison m" players? I prefer new products... 60gb would be awesome..
Since Im fed up with Apple and got already n Touch i simply want a player with a good capacity and just to listen to music... and i pretty much liked the creative zen vision m player... more than any new product from creative... all of em are more like multimedia and not "classy"....
Furthermore I just find the product over google at customers site... if i browse all mp3players from creative I cant find the product i want.... It would be awesome if anyone knows a way to get a new one of these... and it would be kickass if it could get delieverd to EU/Austria

Creative zen vision:m will not turn

ok. so i got the creative zen vision:m mp3 player for Christmas and has been working just great until now. i plugged it into my charging accessory (http://creative.com/products/product.asp?category=3&subcategory=57&product=5050 ) yesterday and today i unplugged it and now it will not turn on. it was low on battery so i plugged it in...is that a reason for it to die
!!! i've tried the power and reset switches multiple times, as well as the combination for the maintenance menu. it still doesn't turn on. if i plug it into either the regular mp3 player to computer or mp3 player to wall power adapter all that happens is that the power led on the top blinks every few seconds. the display doesn't turn on or display that it's "charging" and when i plug it into the computer it doesn't recognize it. why isn't it working

I had same problem with my 30gb ZVM.
I had run down the battery a lot, but not to the point of the unit actually shutting itself down. So I?plugged into PC for hours;?charging icon?blinking away as usual. Thought everything OK until I disconnected and?would not turn on. The power on blue light by the switch would only flash briefly and then . . nothing. However - I then went into recovery mode - no problem - by hitting reset button as per instructions. Could see the battery icon showing no charge. Since that seemed to rejuvinate it I then exited?that mode and tried charging again. This time it took a charge and several hours later showed full battery charge. But then I made the biggest mistake ever - decided to update the firmware because of the charging problem. So I followed directions EXACTLY - downloaded new Firmware file onto PC first so it was ready to go, and then made the fatal mistake of going into Recovery mode and selecting the Update Firmware option - all as per instructions on-line and in user guide. The ZVM then immediately erased current version in player, and then said "ready for firmware update".
So I assumed - since no further instructions were given - that I had to connect unit back to PC and run the downloaded firmware file. When I did though the ZVM was no longer recognized by the software - kept telling me that no unit was connected. Unit showed in Device Manager, but not seen by WIndows Media or Creative Media Explorer. This then started the wasting of 2 days (so far) of my life trying to get firmware re-installed. Unit is now totally DOA because it has no firmware installed, and the Creative software on my PC will not update the firmware because it does not recognize a player which has no firmware installed. What were they thinking? See my post on this problem from earlier today.
From several calls into customer "service" I was told that I could have updated firmware just by running the downloaded file when the ZVM was normally connected - did not have to go into Recovery mode. That's nice to know now, and would have been critical to know 2 days ago - but why did the documentation say absolutely nothing about that? It only said this could be done through Recovery. Now I understand why so many posts about Creative are from totally frustrated users wasting their li'ves fighting with awful software and bad documentation. Great player - terrible documentation - awful software.
So my advice to you is:>?try hooking up to you PC and see if unit charges that way, instead of through charger.2> If no luck - go into Recovery mode by hitting reset button as?per?instructions. If you can get there,?select Reboot and then shut off. Hook up to charger again and see what happens.3> If still no luck - sounds like unit is still under warranty. Call Customer Service (405) 742-6622 and ask that they send UPS Call Tag to pick up unit from you to be sent back for repair. I am guessing that this player does not like to have the battery heavily discharged, somehow related?to?asoftware issue as well (surprise surpirse).
Will probably be fixed in future firmware update. Good Luck

Creative Zen Vision:M Problen, PLEASE HELP

I have had my Creative Zen Vision:M for a little over a year now. I has remained my favorite MP3 player by far in comparision to the rest of the competition. The problem I am having is that recently I went to transfer some music onto it after I hadn't done it in a while. I opened up the Creative Zen Vision:M Explorer, and to my dismay it said that the player was not connected. I have tried multiple reconnections with the wire, startup/shutdown many times even uninstalled and reinstalled the software but it always remains having the transfer files etc options faded out regardless of the player being connected or not. The Device manager has it listed without the yellow exclamation point so I know it is recognized by the computer but I am at a total loss for what to do now. Also, I have tried system restore to a time where it was working properly but to no avail it's the same thing. Any advice will be appreciated.

well im not really scared. but it won't wpork anymore. like everytime i turn it off reset it or reboot it. it would just show the recovery mode and nothign else. that worries me ebcause i can't get it to work as normal agains. =[ so yea. maybe the filmwire thingy would work.

I just bought the Creative Zen Vision:M for a trip away and noticed it didn't come with an AC Adapter. After looking at the accessories on the Creative Site, I saw the Creative Zen Power Adapter and decided to buy it. I didn't order it because I'm going away in a few days and . won't be able to charge my Vision:M and 2. won't be able to receive my package. Is there an alternati've product that I could pick up in store that would work with my Vision:M?

hmmm... goto pictures, click the picture u want,open it, click the menu button [right bottom button] then scrool down to set as background, and then press the touch pad to select, and then select it again or chose if u want it in gray scale or anything.
