Does the external trigger of the 5152 count as a second channel?

Hi everyone,
The PXI-5152 digitizer is listed as providing a 2GS/s sampling rate (TIS) for one channel only.  My question is whether or not the External Trigger channel counts as a "second channel" when used during data acquisition.  If so, does this cause the maximum acheivable sampling rate to drop to 1GS/s for my data channel (CH 0)?
My experience has been that this is the case, but I lack a smoking gun which explicitly states this.  When I use the external trigger to control data acquisition on Channel 0, I'm only ever able to acheive 1GS/s.  Am I making a mistake?
I was hoping that the trigger port would act as a simple comparator.  If not, does this imply that the external trigger channel is being sampled at 1GS/s?
Many thanks,
Jimmy

Hi Jimmy,
The External Trigger is not digitized and therefore is not a second channel. It is appropriate to consider it like a comparator.  It can be used as an analog trigger source for the TIS acquisition on channel 0 to achieve 1 channel at 2 GS/s.  I am not sure why you are only achieving 1 GS/s.
I recommend starting with an example program such as "Configured Acquisition".  You can navigate to this example through the Example Finder, or by using your Start Menu and navigating to All Programs>>National Instruments>>NI-SCOPE>>Examples.  Select your preferred programming environment such as LabVIEW and locate Configured Acquisition.
Once you have the example open try the following settings to achieve 2GS/s on ch0 triggered from the external trigger input. Set the sampling rate to 2GS/s, the channel to 0, check "TIS Enabled", and ensure that Enforce Realtime is also checked.  Set the trigger type to Edge, and the trigger source to the External Trigger.

  • How does the hit counter work?

    hi
a while ago i made a web site with a hit counter on it
i wrote the hit counter using php and a flat text file to store the number of hits
i experienced a number of problems
    1. if someone visited the site more than once, the hit counter would go up each time they visited. this is not really desired as i really only want to know how many unique hits i get
    2. web bots and web crawlers would also make the counter go up
does the hit counter that iweb generates suffer from this problem?
how does it work - from total hits or only unique hits?
does anyone know it web crawlers effect the counter?
    thanks!

It is a hit counter and will register even when you visit the website.
I found this annoying, so I ditched the iWeb hit counter and went to Bravenet and downloaded a visit counter instead. You can customise your design and can have a visit counter instead of a hit counter and you can also set it to ignore your own hits - so if you want to visit your site to see how it looks it won't register your hit. The hit counter will register each time and for every page, whereas a visit counter will just register the visit to the first page and then thats it. If you use Bravenet it will give you stats too.
I am sure you can get hit counters and visit counters from lots of other sources though.

  • Why does the keyboard come up a second time on the ipad

Why does the keyboard come up a second time on the ipad

Try these basic things and see if the keyboard goes away for good.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Quit the Kindle App and restart. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by e tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus (-) sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. • When does the tick count start

I see that the tick counter rolls over at 2^32 ms, that's 49 days.  So if the counter started when Labview or the VI starts, I would never care about the rollover.
So when does it start?  Can I control when it starts?     I need a resolution less than 1 sec, so the second timers don't help me.
Also do other funtions or VIs continue to operate when a Wait (ms) function is running?

The tick count does not begin when you open LabVIEW or the VI. The on-line help says that the base time is undefined. There is however, no problem with you taking the tick count when you first start the VI and using that later in the VI. It's also untrue that the other time functions in LabVIEW only have 1 second resolution. They have the same millisecond resolution as tick count. If you have code in parallel with the Wait (ms) function, they will exeucte in parallel.
Also, in the future, post questions of this nature to the LabVIEW board. This board is for the NI counter/timer boards.

  • Do you need an additional slot for the RBS and does the RBS count as an additional hard drive in the Sharepoint 2013 Server farm?

    Hello Community
If you have a clustered Sharepoint 2013 Server farm running RAID 10, on a
clustered WS2012 R2 server that has 10 hard drive slots:
            (4) drives being part of the Sharepoint 2013 Server farm
            (1) drive for the Web App Server
            (5) are for hot swap if any of the production hard drives fail
        The question(s) is:
            - If the server only has 10 slots for hard drives are you still allowed to add a
NAS/RBS drive and does the NAS/RBS drive get clustered also, or does this scenario require
reducing the RAID level down to RAID 5 to allow for NAS/RBS hard drive?
            - Does the NAS/RBS hard drive need a hard drive for hot swap?
            - Does the NAS/RBS drive have to have Sharepoint 2013 Server or WS2012 R2 running on it?
            - Does the Web App Server have Sharepoint 2013 running or just WS2012 R2 running on it?
        Thank you
        Shabeaut

RAID 10 requires a minimum of 4 hard drives. The LUN for RBS must be attached to the SQL Server, not SharePoint server, as a local drive. You just need to be running the minimum required OS for the version of SQL Server you're using.
Do you mean Office Web Apps by "Web App Server"? If so, that cannot have SharePoint installed on it. Otherwise, if you're just referring to it as another SharePoint server, yes it would have SharePoint installed on it.

  • Why does the connection drop every other second when streaming from iplayer through safari to apple tv?

I am trying to listen to iplayer radio through apple TV from my macbook air. When I switch back to just using the macbook the stream is consistent and works well but when I switch to airplay mode the sound stream literally drops in and out every other second. Ha! I have just gone into iTunes and I have the same issue!?
I have checked for software updates on both apple devices and restarted my router but still I have the same issue.
This is really annoying as this is the main reason I got apple TV! Can anyone help??

This may sound stupid, but I'm gonna throw it out there anyway. Is it possible, that if I have enough junk on my desktop it might disrupt the signal? It seems odd, but it kind of looks like my signal is strong and relatively steady now that I've cleaned my desktop. I do tend to get very cluttered. I use a lot of reference images and save text clippings to use later... it just piles up very quickly.
So, I wonder if all that extra effort my system has to do keeping up with the junk might have something to do with the drop outs?

  • [Question] PCI-6220: digital level at the pause of a continuous impuls train with external trigger

    Hallo,
I'm trying to use a PCI-6220 card to generate a continuous impuls train which will be paused at an external trigger. I've used the example code in the example library to generate the impuls train. The idle state of the impuls train is set to be high. But I figure that die digital level at the pause is sometimes high and sometimes low. I suppose that the level stays at the exact time when the pause begins?
Is my assumption correct? Is there any way to let the impuls always pause at the idle state, like it will then be paused after a full impuls is finished? Any tips or links will help. Thanks in advance.
    Wei

Yes your assumption is right. The output is latched to the last set value.
If you are generating the pulse through the counter,  setting the Idle state in Create Virtual Channel.vi   doesnt help?

    tamar2010,
The VirtualBench Function Generator does not support generation triggering.  You can export a trigger with the Function Generator, but you you cannot import a trigger and start generation from it.  Please refer to page 6 of the spec doc for more information:

  • How to externally trigger the execution of TestStand with a start and abort button through a digital interface?

    Hello,
I'm Currently evaluating TestStand as an alternative for an in-house developed Test Sequencer.
To start our own Test Sequencer we use a small box, connected to a DIO board. The box has a start button and an abort button. The box also has a pass, a fail and a running led.
The interface with this box is made via some digital lines of a PCI-DIO-96.
In our own Test Sequencer we have groups named Init, Run, Abort, Exit.
The Init group is executed at startup (only once). It is used to initialize all the HW and SW. -> I guess this is the Pre UUT Loop callback in TestStand.
The Exit group is only executed once at the end of the day when the application is terminated. It is used to free all the used hardware and cleanup all the resources. This probably is the Post UUT Loop Callback in TS.
When a product needs to be tested, the operator presses the "start" button which triggers our own Test Sequencer and the run and abort group are being executed (first the run group, afterwards the abort group).
When the product is being tested the "running led" of the little box lights up to indicate to the operator that the application is running. (only when the run and abort group are running)
The Run group has all the functional tests in it. (MainSequence)
The abort group is used to put everything back in it's original state after the test on this single product is done. (Post UUT)
When executing the tests and something goes wrong (operator gets stuck in a clamper, ...) the operator can still press the abort button and then the execution immediately jumps from the currently executing step in the run group to the first step of the abort group. So, when something goes wrong, immediately the abort group is called.
At the end of the run and abort group, if no errors occured, the "pass led" lights up. If one or more steps went wrong the "fail" led lights up.
This setup can also be used to test multiple product in parallel. At that time all the different parallel testers have such a small box which contains a "start" and "abort" button and a pass, fail and running led. (it is possible that they are all connected to the same PCI-DIO-96 board. )
    My question:
Is it possible to do something similar like this in Teststand? If yes, is there an example available that shows me how to do this in TestStand? (externally trigger the execution of TestStand)
Typically, in the Init group (Pre UUT Loop) the digital interface box gets initialised.
In the Close group (Post UUT Loop) the digital interface box is taken out of scope.
Note: The PCI-DIO-96 board to which the digital interface box is connected will also be used in the rest of the developed application (MainSequence, ...)
What's really important for me is that I can create a process model that all the application developers in our organisation can use. I really don't want any of the application developers (limited software experience) to mess around in all the features of TestStand.
For them it's important that they just add the function DigitalInterfaceBoxInit () in the Pre UUT Loop Callback and the DigitalInterfaceBoxClose () in the Post UUT Loop Callback, and then everything works!
It is important that the appliation developers do not have to create any global variables, other functions, synchronisations, parallel sequences, ... in TestStand. All this needs to be done with a simple call to the DigitalInterfaceBoxInit function.
Thanks in advance for all the help!

    Dennis-
Your application sounds very well suited to TestStand's abilities. I am also quite impressed with your knowledge of how TestStand's architecture is arranged when you are still just considering whether or not to use it.
I think that TestStand would work really well for you in this application. Like you mentioned it will provide you with a form of standardization for your application developers to work from. It also provides the flexibility for you to add your custom routines in many different places. TestStand also makes parallel and batch testing much easier in TS 2.0 so that you could develop one test for your product and execute different instances of it in parallel to test multiple products at once.
As for your specific question about how to c
ontrol TestStand using a DIO board. I think this is very feasible and should not be too difficult. Since TestStand provides you the ability to create a custom operator interface your operator interface could monitor the status of your DIO board and launch/abort executions based on the read values. Usually the executions are launched/aborted when a button on the GUI is pressed however, I do not see any thing different about basing the action on a DI signal vs a mouse click. I am sure your application is more involved than this high level description but from the sounds of it I think it is very possible to do with TestStand.
Based on my experience of building test systems with TestStand and your description of the application, I would feel very confident in using TestStand to achieve all the goals you mentioned. If you have further detailed questions on how one of your features might be implemented, feel free to contact one of our Application Engineers or email us at www.ni.com/ask
and we would be glad to help you.

  • Does de-authorising reduce the authorisation count?

I have heard rumour that de-authorising previously authorised PC/devices doesn't actually reduce the activation count for ADE.
    I this true?
I got a bit carried away when I 1st started and authorised 3 PCs at home and my bebook reader. My bebook reader had to be returned due to fault - unfortunately I didn't de-authorise it before it  - adobe support tells me that there's nothing I can do about that (so that's one activation gone) and when the replacement reader turns up another activation will be used - that will be five in total - so if de-authorising does nothing to the count I'm left with one authorisation till the end of time - I've asked suppoort about this and haven't had an answer - I'm a little wary of buying more ADE books if the authorisations run out (due to pc failure or reader failure or uprades of either) and being stuck with a library I can't access.
I've checked around the forums and it looks like exceeding the authorisation count is not an uncommon problem and there appears little progress on fixing the problem on Adobe's part.
I am still waiting for a reply to the last post.
Following is my discussion with support -
Ok I understand that I can't de-activate the reader now it has been returned but assuming I keep using digital editions for years to
come, as PCs die or need the hard-drive replaced/reformated and the breakdown usually occurs without warning (ie I don't get the ch
ance to de-activate the PC) won't I eventually run out of activations? (I've already lost one to the returned ebook, one on the PC I
download with and one to the new reader when it arrives)
Under those circumstances do I have to then create a new accounbt and lose access to all my previously purchased ebooks?
I would have thought the record of authorisations would be held by adobe and therefore able to be removed/reset by adobe.
I'm just trying to understand the authorisation process before I invest too much in digital edition ebooks.
The number of authorisations is something else I'm little confused about I read in one place that I could have 6 PCs AND 5 ebooks de
vices but I think I reade on the adbode site that it is only 5 PCs or devices in total.
Thanks for your assistance with these queries

Hi, I'm new to digital editions and I tried installing and authorizing three PCs and one ebook reader while learning how to use digi

My ebook reader has a fault and I'm returning it and expect to recieve a new unit soon. My question is how do I go about deactivatin

g something I will run out of activations at some point.
I suppose if I could de-authorize everything and start again that would be great - assuming I don't lose the rights to the books I h
    ave already purchased.

    >I have heard rumour that de-authorising previously authorised  PC/devices doesn't actually reduce the activation count for ADE.
    >I  this true?
Yes, you only want to deauthorize when getting rid of a machine (as a step remove your personal information), or when directed to by a competent tech support person.
If you run out of activations you will need to contact tech support by going to http://www.adobe.com/support/digitaleditions and clicking on 'Submit a web case'

AFAIK any mounted volume, regardless of OS, should appear there. I would think that, if it appears in the Boot Picker/Startup Manager it would also appear and could be booted to from Snow's Startup Disk. I can't test this myself, since I don't have Yos.
