Does the iMac have an AUDIO IN aside from the built-in mic?
Also, are any special cables needed?
    Thanks,

    Hi
You should be able to check by going to about this mac from the Apple menu. Then click the more info button and then the system report button. Next, click on audio tab to the left. If you don't have an entry for built in input then you probably don't have line-in in your mac. As already mentioned though you should be able to defiantly find out with the model and year.
    Hope this helps

  • Does the iMac have the ability to view a second video input?

Basically can a VGA input show on an iMac? I have a desktop that I'd still need for certain work related software packages. I'd rather not have a a second monitor on my desk.
    Thanks.

I make videos for professional presentations with the iMac 20", 1 Gb memory. Works great. I sync music to the videos in Logic Express. I also have made a lot of home videos which I have burned to dvds.
As for the workflow you mention, there is no need to export to dvd-format. You can just burn you iMovie project as files on a dvd, which will give the convenience of storing on dvd without compression. This is how I make my iMovie backups.
The new iMac has 512Mb RAM soldered in, and only one memory slot. Although an additional 1Gb RAM would be sufficient, I would order 2Gb. Otherwise you will have to remove the 1Gb when upgrading to 2Gb. Unfortunately, the extra RAM is expensive, so you might want to add 3rd party ram afterwards.
Also, for video work, I would choose the largest disc. But of course, by burning your projects to dvd, you can manage with the default disc.
All the neccesary software is included. You can create the movies in iMove, add music from iTunes, create your own music in GarageBand, create DVDs in iDVD (including a lot of cool menu templates).
If you later want to advance to more complex applications, the iMac will be able to run them as well.
If you want to record voice-over and music, you will need a microphone and a sound-interface.
    Good luck!

  • I have a G5 apple mac does the G5 have i built wifi or do i have to buy a wifi adapter

I need help connecting my G5 to the internet does it have in built WI-FI or do i have to buy a adaptor to save me buying wires and such

Under the Apple select About this Mac, then More Info... a list will appear. Under Network look for Airport Card. If you have one there it will be listed. This your wi-fi card.
The G5 I am typing this on had one when we bought it but that is so long ago I don't recall if it was an add-on or already there.
One thing though is that we couldn't get on wirelessly until we ordered an antenna from our local Apple dealer. Once we did that then we could "see" the wi-fi network.

  • Does the KT4V have a built-in thermistor?

Hey guys, I'm just wondering whether or not the MSI KT4V have a built-in temperature sensor (thermistor) on-board the motherboard itself? And what is that black chip in the middle of the CPU socket? Perhaps a moderator can answer this? If you know the answer to this, then please tell me.  :]
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Yes, all boards have at least 1 to measure the system temps.
It's located between the IO-chip and AGP-slot on most boards.

  • Does the iMac have a blog reader? What reader do you use?

I have an iMac with OS 10.8.4. Before I upgraded to this OS there was a way to get blog feeds in the Mail Reader which seems to have disappeared. I did find an RSS reader of some kind soon after I upgraded (back in May) and added 2 blogs to it but now I can't find it. Not even sure if it was already on the Mac or a plug in I installed because I had done a little research into blog readers back then.
Today I decided I want to finally choose a blog reader and get organized about my blog reading. I don't know yet if I prefer one on my computer or on the web, but I'd like to know all my options. I'm looking at Feedly and a few others I read about in a couple of articles online. And I'm reading through Help on my computer, but not finding anything about an integrated reader, other than maybe the Reading List in Safari which doesn't actually automatically pull articles but only lets me manually save pages to read later.
Please let me know if there is a reader on the Mac. And if you have an online reader you love, please tell me what you love about it. Thank you!

Ah! That's what I was referring to Rudegar. I guess I closed it and that's why it wasn't showing up in my dock or giving me pop up messages anymore. But I found it just now.
Unfortunately, it just seems to be a list of recent articles. I like the way I can categorize my blogs in Feedly.
I'd love to hear other suggestions to consider. Thank you!

  • Does the iPhone have a built in loudspeaker?

Like the Sony Walkman 995? I dont mean so you have to plug in headphones, I mean an actual loudspeaker so you can hit play put it on the toilet seat and boogie away whilst in the shower, albeit to a limited quality I appreciate.

The 3G's speaker is a marked improvement to the 1st gen's offering. I've gone through both and the 3G is definitely louder.
In short, yes, it has a loudspeaker, but even with the improvement it's still not as loud say the Blackberry Bold or Sony Walkman phones.

Depends which iMac exactly and your network setup, you can go into System Preferences and under the Sharing pane you can enable internet sharing from ethernet (or whereever you get your internet from) to Wi-Fi.

Yes it does. The phone call is spam.
If you contact your phone carrier, they may be able to block the caller.

  • Does anyone know if the iMacs have CD-Rom or DVD drives?

Thinking of getting an iMac. Does anyone know if the iMacs have CD-Rom or DVD drives?

No, the new models do not.
Look at the specifications on the Apple wen site.

  • 2.3 year old iMac (27inch) Hard Drive failing. Does the drive have its own warranty?

My imac that is 2.3 years old is now having the S.M.A.R.T system saying the drive is "failing".  Does the drive have its own warranty? That's not very old for a failure and most HD manufactures have a 3 year minimum.  Now I wish I had bought the extended warranty period.  Shish.

    No.

  • How can I tell what video card and how much video memory does my iMac have?

How or where can I find out: which video card does my iMac have and how much video memory does it have? I've tried looking in System profiler, but I did not see it there. Thank you.

Once you open System Profiler there should be a line called "memory" which is the RAM (vs. hard drive size which is not what is called memory), e.g., Memory: 1.5 GB
For video click on the line Graphics/Displays and look at the chipset line, e.g., Chipset Model: GeForce2 TwinView
Kappy's instructions are handy for checking the original configuration of your computer, but that may have been changed at some time, especially if you bought it secondhand.
