I pre-ordered my iPhone 5 and it showed that my present data plan with AT&T will be continued as is. My iPhone will be sent to my home address and I want to know if it will ship with a SIM card already installed or will I have to get one from an AT&T store?

OK I think I can help you on this one, I think there is a missconception on the terminology, if the iPhone is from AT&T it does have a SIM card tray, you will find it on the left side of the iPhone. All you need is the key insert it in the little hole and it pops out.
If the iPhone 4 is from Verizon it DOES NOT have a sim card tray.
What the sales person told your sister is accurate, the iPhone does not have a slot for an SD card which is an "storage" card mainly used to store all sorts of data such as pictures, videos and more.
Locally the iphone has lots of storage capacity so your sister wont have the necesity of ever expanding her cellphone memory for the very reason of that she has the best cellular device in the market which is an IPHONE!
I don't think she will ever fill up her iphone's memory.

If the iPhone is officially unlocked, then it should work with any compatible carrier anywhere. You will not get any support from Apple in Egypt for a US-sold iPhone, though.
