Does the iPod Touch have to remain in recovery mode throughout the entire restoration process?

My iPod Touch left recovery mode while i was restoring it, does this mean that i have to start the whole restoration process over again? If so, then I just wasted hours trying to restore my disabled iPod Touch.

Problems like yours happens since downgrading the iOS is not supported by Apple.

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

Once the Device is asking to be Restored with iTunes... it is too late to save anything... and you must continue with the Recovery...

Take your time... Pay particular attention to Steps 3 and 4.

My ipod touch 4 put itself into recovery mode and when i plugged it in it asked me restore it, i clicked restore and it extracted the software then crashed, leaving it with no software. i then gave it to my nearest apple store and the guy said it cant be fixed telling me it was a hardware problem. Google "DFU mode", put it in that mode and Restore it in iTunes.
And stay away from jailbreaking.

I have an iPod Touch stuck in recovery mode. It has a picture of a usb cord pointing to the iTunes symbol. When I plug it into a computer it says "iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode. You must restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes." So i did. After it had finished it came up with that message again! Also I've tried using DFU mode and it didn't work. Suggestions?

Maybe:
Restore loop (being prompted to restore again after a restore successfully completes)

First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely. Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again.

I suggest try getting it back to your stock iOS and forget about jailbreaking.

I've done the basics (i.e multiple computer restarts, switching USB ports, fresh install of itunes. I've checked the forums and everything I've found has involved things that I have been unable to do involving the itunes restore. Please save my ipod from a hammer.

You can try 2 things:
Restart your iPod by - Holding the Power and Home buttons until you see the Apple logo.
Put your iPod in DFU and restore - Hold the Power and Home until the screen goes black, wait about 2 seconds, release the power button but keep holding the home for 15 seconds, then on iTunes, Restore and Update.

If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.
