Does the JavaMail license permit to repackage the jar as a OSGi bundle ?

I need to change the manifest file in mail.jar and in activation.jar for including OSGI infos, but it's not clear to me if it's legal or not, according the license. Indeed, it states
(a) you distribute Redistributable complete and unmodified and only bundled as part of Your Programs
(e) you do not remove or alter any proprietary legends or notices contained in or on the Redistributable
Obviously, I do not remove any proprietary legends, but, inevitably, the manifest file is going to change.
And, what about inserting the LICENSE.txt in the repackaged jar ?
Could any Sun's guy shed light on this matter ?

The version of JavaMail available from java.sun.com comes with a license
that prevents such modifications. However, you can get a version of mail.jar
that's covered by the CDDL license, which doesn't have these restrictions,
from the java.net maven repository. There's more information in the archives
of the javamail-interest mailing list.

I would like to use the KMS server to activate many Windows 2008 R2 server, however, Error message "0xC004F050 The software licensing service reported that the product key is invalid" is appear when adding Windows Server 2008R2 KMS Key. The Windows
Server 2008 R2 KMS key is confirmed and validated by Microsoft Telephone service.

Based on my research, we need to choose associated KMS key based on the highest product being deployed in the product grouping hierarchy.

Please type the cmd "slmgr /dlv" on KMS Host and check if it has been activated successfully.
After configure KMS host, By default these KMS client computers will query DNS and locate your KMS host and activate

I don't know if I want to sell on the iBook store, and I'd rather use iBooks Author than Text Edit or Word or Pages. I understand that complicated interactive content is what makes iBooks Author special. But if I create basic text content I could create anywhere, taking advantage of the versioning and iCloud storage iBooks Author provides, do I still own my own writing?

You own your own writing but the license would prevent you from selling it externally if it produced using iBA. You could of course freely give it away, or sell it via the iBookstore. If I were you I'd be using Pages - much friendlier to use (less bugs, more mature) and if you need the extra features you can import into iBA.

mac for MCS builds does not match the original license. If something was entered
incorrectly when you registered the PAK you need to contact

Do I need to install user licenses to RDP to the server?

I have a 2003 terminal server running an app that is accessed by only a handful of users. Users remote desktop into the server to use this app. The app is licensed for the handful of users.
The app needs to update to the latest version and does not support server 2003. I have a server 2008 r2 (virtualized on hyper-v 2012 r2 server) with the RD session host role installed.
Before installing the RD licensing role, I checked the 2003 term. server license configuration and there's non. So, it looks like licensing per user or device has not been setup. My question is, do I need to setup licensing for this scenario?

Based on your description, you have updated your server from 2003 to 2008 R2 and now need to take remote access for that server by users for running application.
Yes, you need to setup licensing for your scenario. Server 2003 license\CAL will not work with server 2008 r2 but vice versa is possible. So you need to install RD License server 2008 R2, activate the license server, upgrade\purchase the RDS CAL (Per User or
Per Device) and then configure that CAL to use by the users. You can directly contact MS Clearing house with all your license document, explain them whole scenario and they will help for your situation.

Can the license manager load the computer-based license first, instead of the user-based license?

We have several machines in the lab with computer-based licenses on them and a number of techs with user-based licenses. When a tech needs to occassionally sign in as themselves, instead of the generic service account, the license manager attaches the machine to their user account. Not a problem until they try logging in to LabVIEW from their own PC again and they get the 14 day trial period notice.
Is there a way to have the license manager look for the computer license first instead of the user license?

Hi Joe,
In the license file hosted on the license server, you may be able to manually change the "sort" tag in the file to modify the order in which VLM checks out licenses. Licenses are checked out in descending order (2, then 3, then 4, etc.). Typically, your license file is set up in a default order, but in special cases such as this, it may be beneficial to alter the order. To do this, follow these steps:
1. Open the license file with a text editor (such as Notepad)
2. Search for the "sort" tag. For instance, the "VLM_Core" entry will have a sort tag value will appear as "sort=first". Do not alter this value. VLM_Core should always be first.
3. Change the sort tag value for the named-computer license to a value that is lower than the sort tag value for the named-user license. (e.g. "sort=2" for named-computer and "sort=3" for named-user).
4. Save the file and reinstall the license.

Should the zlib license really be in licenses/common?

I'm trying to update all of my AUR PKGBUILDs with the proper license field and ran across one that uses the zlib/libpng license. The ZLIB license is currently included in the default licenses package and has a version located here: <code>/usr/share/licenses/common/ZLIB/licenses.txt</code>, but much like the BSD/MIT licenses, the zlib license should have a unique copyright line.
As per the instructions listed on the Arch Packaging Standards page, it would seem like it should need a custom license. Is that right? If so, shouldn't the zlib one be removed from the common licenses package? For reference, this is what the license looks like:

This software is provided 'as-is', without any express or implied warranty. In no event will the authors be held liable for any damages arising from the use of this software.
Permission is granted to anyone to use this software for any purpose, including commercial applications, and to alter it and redistribute it freely, subject to the following restrictions:

I am not a lawyer, but I think I understand what elasticdog is talking about. To quote Arch_Packaging_Standards,
The MIT, BSD and Python licenses are special cases and cannot be included in the 'common' licenses pkg. For the sake of the license variable, it's treated like a common license (license="BSD", license="MIT" or license="Python") but for the sake of the filesystem, it's a custom license, because each one has its own copyright line. Each MIT, BSD or Python licensed package should have its unique license stored in /usr/share/licenses/$pkgname/.
The specific statement in question is the second line of /usr/share/licenses/common/ZLIB/license.txt:
Copyright (c) <year> <copyright>
Note that the second field actually says "copyright holders", not "copyright", but for reasons I don't understand, the forum doesn't display the space and the second word. The year and copyright holders fields are meant to be filled out by the copyright holders, and will be different for essentially every package using the ZLIB license. Since this statement is part of the license, the license is different every time it is used. As the wiki says, the MIT, BSD, and Python licenses also name the copyright holder in the license itself. This can be seen by inspecting them at http://www.opensource.org/licenses/.
The other licenses in /usr/share/licenses/common do not contain explicit copyright statements as part of the license, even though several of them contain instructions or templates for creating such statements in an addendum. Hence, these licenses are the same each time they are used.
I think elasticdog is correct. ZLIB should be removed from /usr/share/licenses/common, and treated as the MIT, BSD, and Python licenses are treated. Since it's common, it doesn't need to be marked as "custom"; it can be marked as license="ZLIB".
It seems best to update the licenses package and the wiki at the same time. Is a bug report the best way to accomplish this?

Extending the evaluation license asks for current activation code. Where is it?

I am attempting to extend the evaluation period for the Vision Acquisition Software. I have obtained an activation code from NI.com to manually enter and extend the evaluation period. When I access the activation wizard through the NI License manager and select the option to manually enter the activation code, the next step asks for the current activation code. How do I find out the current activation code so that I can advance to the step for entering the new activation code?

Repair Permissions keeps repairing the same files

Whenever I repair permissions, I notice the same files are being repaired all the time. Is their a problem and how can I fix this?

Hi, Hattori.
This is not a probelm.
The list of permission repairs is quite extensive under Tiger. This is due to the Repair Disk Permissions function forcing the specific permissions it reports, which is required due to the receipts of the affected files, most of which are Dashboard widgets. Most Dashboard widgets have specific permissions — ostensibly to avoid potential security problems with widgets — and Repair Disk Permissions will always set these to ensure they are enforced, whether or not they actually need repair.
Whenever the message in Repair Disk Permissions states "We are using special permissions..." this means the permissions are being enforced, not that the permissions on that file were necessarily incorrect.
Bottom line: you can ignore these "We are using special permissions...." messages. They will repeat whenever you run Repair Disk Permissions.

What is the way to buy the other licenses?

Hi, yesterday our Studio had buy creative cloud for teams, today the paymant was completed but i can't buy other licens for the teams members. We have 3 computers, and bought the admin account, so we need other 2 licenses. When i tray to buy it from the admin account on adobe.com, it says "contact your region's number to buy other licenses". What is the way to buy the other licenses?

Keep getting the Software License Agreement

I have a payed license for using all of the Adobe CC, but although I installed everything correctly I'm keep on getting the Software License Agreement window with the accept-button on it once in a while. Although I accepted it a million times now it keeps on coming back. Not only with illustrator, but also with photoshop, AfterFX and so on.
Also sometimes I have to re-login to the cloud to use the Adobe CC. Is that normal? I was hoping this was only needed once, but once in a while I have to login again to use Adobe CC update-panel.
It's getting really annoying. Anybody got the same problem? How did you solve this?

Suddenly the computer stoped reading DVDs and the only time I can read a CD is if I restart. Quite often when I insert a CD it gets stuck and I cannot get it out until I restart and it shows up on the desktop where I can then eject it.
I have checked and double checked the finder prefs and all looks normal showing a check mark on CDs,DVDs etc. (the ones I want to show up on the desktop)
I have reset the PEAM, repaired permissions with both the disk utility on the computer and the disk utility when I start up in the Recovery Disk. I did notice that sometimes the permission repeat the same correction several times before it moves on, and sometimes it doesn’t. I have Windows installed on a partition but I keep it unmounted until it is needed for my wife’s work. The dock seems to be just fine and all the apps seems to run just fine. When I insert a photo CD iPhoto does not open but when I insert a music CD iTunes does open.
Also, most every time I open iPhoto it takes a long time(sometimes as long as 2 minutes) for it to load.
Sometimes my Mail (Mail 5.3) does not post new mail but most of the time it does.
Once and a while it seems like the computer slows way down but then it seems ok ten minutes later.
All of these ‘things’ seemed to have happen suddenly and I have not downloaded anything from the internet in some time.
Of course the warranty and extended warranty are both no longer in effect having had this computer for more than three years.
I am running Java and Adobe Player because some of the sites I go to a lot require both.

I believe that insufficient RAM may be the source of some of your problems. If you have a RAM of somewhere 4 to 8GB, you will experience smoother computing. 3GB doesn't seem right, so you might want to learn more by going to this site:

I don't know what know what's happening with your optical drive, but it seems you use your drive quite a bit. In that case, look into a lens cleaner for your machine. It's inexpensive, works quite well.

UNC Path is not valid or does not have write permissions

I've just downloaded the MVMC 3.0 SA as well as the admin guide. My environment is the following setup:
- Windows Server 2012 R2 as Hyper-V (SRV-1-011-HypV1, not domainjoined!)
- Windows Server 2012 R2 as VM SRV-1-011-HypV1 (SRV-1-030-DC01, Domaincontroller)
- Windows Server 2012 R2 as VM for Conversion with MVMC 3.0 hosted on SRV-1-011-HypV1 (SRV-1-032-File1, not domainjoined!)
- VMWare ESXi 4.1, where the source VM resides (stone001)
I've completed the wizard for converting a VM to Hyper-V and I'm Stuck at the Summary Check:
"Blocking Issue(s):
1: UNC Path '\\srv-1-011-hypv1\Converted' is not valid or does not have write permissions."
From the admin guide this is described as Issue number 2:
The machine, on which you are running the conversion, and the destination Hyper-V host are not members of the same Active Directory
domain.
Ensure that the machine on which you are running the conversion and the destination Hyper-V host are members of the same Active Directory
domain.
SRV-1-011-HypV1 and SRV-1-032-File1 are both Member of the "Workgroup" and are not domain joined. Right now, it is impossible to join the
Hyper-V host to its VM-hosted Domain due to the required system restart at the domain join, while domain is going to be shut down. How can this issue be resolved?
Further: Is there any conflict known operating MVMC from the destination Hyper-V host itself? Will the issue occur in this scenario too, as long as
the hyper-V has not joined the domain?

Hi,
in my case it worked when the Server(-VM) on which we installed the MVMC AND the target-file server were joined to the domain.
We also created a domain account, which has write-permissions to the target fileshare. We used this domain account for logon on the MVMC-machine and for running the MVMC Wizard.
