Does the latest ipod classic have wifi

Hello everyone, I need to know if the latest ipod classic has wifi capabilities. I know that all previous generations do not come with it, the ipod touch I know it does. But Im interested in purchasing the latest ipod classic, on the apple website when checking the tech specs nowhere does it say it does. And is the latest generation called 7th Generation? Let me know please, thanks.

iPod Classic's main advantage is its 36 hour battery life. Having minimal wireless contact is what makes this possible, so if you're fine with syncing you iPod classic to your laptop/Mac whenever you want tunes then by all means purchase the iPod Classic, if not then the 32 GB or 64GB iPod touch I your best bet.

  • Does the latest Ipod Classic use the same charging pins as the earlier versions?

Does the latest Ipod Classic use the same charging pin positons as the earlier versions as I want to use it in my Audi where my 5th gen Nano will play but not charge as the pin configuration for charging changed from that of the earlier models.

If your 5th gen nano doesn't change, then a new iPod Classic will not either.
The "change" was that older iPods used firewire to charge the iPod. But that's 12volts (the same voltage as a car's battery). Then along came charging by USB, which is 5volts. So car manufacturers who were on the ball, introduced electronics to drop the 12v car battery voltage to 5v and put that 5v on the appropriate USB pins. (I would hope, that by now, every car manufacturer has sorted this out, but of course that doesn't help anyone with an older model car.)
The incredibly obvious - to anyone with technical knowledge - was that one day, Apple would stop the 12v charging method on newer models of iPod. But somehow, a lot of manufacturers of devices that charge iPods failed to see this. (It really was incredibly obvious, believe me!)
It wasn't just car manufacturers who were caught out by this, so were Docking Station devices. I know of one make, where the manufacturer recalled the ones still in shops so that they could re-work them to charge using the 5v USB pins.
In my car, made around 2006, I had an external device fitted so that I could plug my iPod into the car stereo through the Dock Connector. But hey, guess what? That device will charge my iPod Classic, but not my iPod Touch.
A long-ish answer, but hopefully it not only answers the question, but tells you why too.

  • Does the new ipod touch have the same camera optics as the iphone 4S?

Does the new iPod Touch have the same camera optics as the iPhone 4S?

Thank you for your reply. But once again if you can clarify please: Let's say I want to purchase the new white iPod Touch (introduced October 2011), will it have the 8 MP camera and improved optics? I'm wondering because I love to take photos and use photo-sharing apps, and I've read so many great reviews on the outstanding camera of the iPhone 4S - but I can't afford the iPhone just yet (also because of my current phone contract) so I was wondering if the newest iPod Touch camera is the same as iPhone 4S. I have the iPod Touch 4th gen, the one introduced Sept 2010, and as you may know that camera isn't the best. I just want to take better photos to share.
    Thank you.

  • What is the batterry spc in the latest iPod classic?

    Hi All,
I'm new to the forums due to the fact I cab't find the info on ipod battery anywhere on the entire interweb!
Basically, have a new ipod classic (1 month old), going travelling and bought a power adapter, there are 2 usb ports on the power adapter, one for 500mah and the other for 1200mah. Anyone have any idea which one I should use?
    Any help appreciated!

"The "other" category is for files that are not covered by the other listed categories. It is normally for about 1/4 to 1 GB. If larger that indicates that the "other" included corrupted files.  Usually restoring from backup eliminated the corrupted files. However, sometimes restoring to factory settings/new iPod is required.
    To restore from backup see:

To restore to factory settings/new iPod see:

  • Does the latest ipod nano work with icloud?

    Hey guys!
I've recieved a new ipod nano (seventh generation), brand spankin new. Got it all set up with itunes and have music added and everything.
I also have a ipod touch (third generation) with tons of music NOT in my itunes library. But I do have that music stored on the icloud.
I'm becoming frustrated. How can I go about adding music from my ipod touch, to my new ipod nano?
Home sharing is on. I manually manage my own music..
I'm just unclear how to get something as simple as playlists and songs from one to the other.
    Someone please help!

The iPod nano can't interface directly with either Apple's servers or the iPod touch. You need to put the content in a computer's iTunes library and then sync the iPod nano with that library.

  • Does the early iPod Touch have a battery problem?

I read in one of the computer magazines that Apple is replace a certain model iPhone because of a faulty battery that is not holding charge. I have an iPod Touch with the serial number C3********4K4 which is not holding charge. Are some iPhones with faulty batteries being replaced and would this hold true for an iPod from the same issue?
    <Edited by Host>

No, only a one model iPhone with one batch of batteries have a problem.

  • Why does the 8GB iPod only have a 6.39GB capacity

Why do they call my iPod an 8GB when it only has a 6.39GB capacity?

Because the iOS takes up most of the difference. What the iOS uses is not available to the user. Also see:

  • Does the 7th generation iPod classic have a glass screen

does the 7th gen.... ipod  classic have a glass screen an what the average life span with normal everday useage,,,,

It is a glass display and the average lifespan depends on a number of factors such as how often it is used and under what conditions, etc.  I would say 2 - 3 years overall is a very good number for these types of devices, but many users recieve many more years of use than that.

  • Is there anyway the latest firmware could have enabled my restriction passcode as I have never enabled it myself this has happened to my ipad2  and new iPod 4 g

Is there anyway the latest firmware could have enabled my restriction  pass code this has happened to my ipad2 and new iPod 4g,I have not set these codes but I ALLWAYS use the same 4digit numbers  and when I enter these I tells me I have made 4 attempts, what is the correct way to resolve this, does it mean a reset or restore, wonder if this has been a problem with other users as I mentioned I have never set these codes because I have no need to as I am the only user on my iPad and iPod.

I have seen other users report this very same issue after an update. Unfortunately, if you don't have the passcode to unlock restrictions, you have to restore the device as new in order to gain access again. If you restore from a backup - the passcode will still be in that backup and you will end up right where you started.
But in your case, you were not using a passcode, so I am hoping that you have a backup that predates the backup from when you updated the device. If you have multiple backups, you can restore from an older backup that should not contain that passcode and then you should be OK.
Do you backup with iTunes? If you do - go to Edit>Preferences>Devices and see if there is any older backup in that window - other than the one from when you updated the iPad iOS.
Have you restarted or reset the iPad since you updated? It's worth a shot to try. I don't think it will change this situation, but they are both easy and harmless to do.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • Does anyone know when do the latest iPod Touch ship out in the US?

I pre-ordered the latest iPod touch (blue) and it's been close to a month now. Still no word from Apple on when they're going to release it for shipping here in the US. Does anyone know when in October is it going to be released?

I know the pain of waiting. I waited 2 months for a liquid-cooled PowerMac G5 after they were introduced. They had issues with leaks.
I read there are quality control issues with the new iPhone 5. Some new units out of the box have nick and scratches in them. They are probably trying to rectify that for iPods too, and that may be slowing production.
