Does the Mackie Onyx 400f work with Logic on OS 10.6?

It's in the subject header. I want to switch to Mac(Book Pro), and probably change from Cubase to Logic -- has anyone tried using the Mackie with this setup? Or just the 400f with 10.6 for that matter? Given that the drivers aren't up-to-date I'm wondering whether it's worth trying to swap the Mackie already...
Many thanks for any help!

Kind of.
Mackie only supports the 400F on Tiger officially but it does work with Snow Leopard. There is a lot of info on Mackie's forums about rolling back the drivers in SL but I did not need to do that and I would recommend doing a clean install of SL rather than an upgrade.
One of the other big issues on Mackie's forum is the stability of long sessions. Some users claim that if they leave iTunes running through the 400F for several hours or even overnight that the audio eventually become grainy and bit crushed. I'm not sold on this test as an adequate measure of the 400Fs compatibility with SL and I've never experienced it with Logic. The workaround, however, is to reset the 400F by switching the sample rate.
The issue I've struggled with most with the 400F and Logic (note: I'm still on 7.2.3) is inconsistent placement of audio on Tiger and a G5 Tower. Basically, the sample offset of recorded audio would vary between sessions so I had to measure the sample offset at the beginning of each session. I've since upgraded to an Intel MacBook and SL and I do less recording of audio and more midi work so I haven't really noticed or cared about this issue. I might be a non-issue at this point.
I hope this is helpful.

  • Has anyone figured out how to make the Yamaha 01V96i mixer work with Logic 9.1.8

Has anyone figured out how to make the Yamaha 01V96i mixer work with Logic 9.1.8 as a control surface ?

    In YAMAHA01v96i:
Go to DIO/SETUP select Generic DAW. Go to MIDI settings page and set the desired port (personally I use Number 1), Select the same audio frequency you use in your DAW (I use 44.1KhZ)...at this point You should save a scene in you 01V96i to avoid to repeat all the procedure again.
Open studio manager, go to patch and set the input port from 17 to 32 respectively to USB1-USB16 (this will give you the return from you DAW to the 01v96i
Save again the scene overwriting the old one.
    in LOGIC
Click on preferences, select Audio then select 01v96i, then click on control surface and select Mackie design Baby HUI and in the midi session set the same port that you've been setting on the Yamaha 01V96i (Port 1 if you follow this example).
    That's more or less it.
    It worked for me...so far

Does the Apple remote control work with MacBook Pro with retina? If yes, how can I sync it?
    Thanks!

It should. First, turn on BlueTooth on the computer. In BT preferences be sure to check the option to look for all devices. Your remote should be picked up and a notice asking if you want to Pair it with the computer. Select Yes. Once it is paired it can be used to control your computer.

  • Does the Magsafe Airline Adapter works with cars

Please I need to know if it is possible that the Magsafe Airline Adaptor works with cars also??? Because i am afraid to buy one and i cant benefit from it. thanks

Looking at the reviews of this product someone wrote: +This product works well in planes, but WHY didn't they design it to work in a car too. When buying this with my new Macbook Pro, not mention was made of its inabilty to deal with a 12v car charge! Only in the small print of its own page is that mentioned!
Disappointed!+
I must agree. It sure would be great to be able to charge my PB directly from the car auxiliary power port. Does anyone know why this is a problem? Does the charger need more than 12 volts to work? At MacWorld the other day I asked a guy working the Kensington booth why they don't have one and he said it was because the Magsafe connector is Apple proprietary and Apple won't allow them to license it.

  • Does the new AIM Triton work with Ichat?

    Hi,
Does anyone know if the new AIM Triton works with Ichat AV? I know the Beta version was not working but don't know about the new triton release.
Also, has anyone tried video/audio communication between Trillian and Ichat? Does it work? Is it better than AIM?
    Thanks,
    Stefano

I have been working with the Triton on a PC and after much research (frustration), I have found this stated on the AIM support site:
    http://www.aim.com/helpfaq/startingout/getstarted.adp?aolp=#six
Q: Is AIM Triton compatible with AIM 5.9, AOL 9.0 and iChat?
A: : AIM Triton works seamlessly with AIM 5.9, AOL 9.0 and iChat. You can send and receive instant messages with your buddies using any of these clients. Certain features may not work across all clients at this time. Voice Chat with more than two people only works with other Triton users. Video Chat will work only between two Triton users at this time.
So after reading around, I believe the 5.9 will video to the iChat 3's but I haven't had the time to try. Other posts suggest this to be true. Including many by Ralph.

  • Will the Tascam FW-1884 work with Logic Pro X?

    Hello,
I notice that the new Logic is 64 bit only and yet the Tascam FW-1884 is specifically listed as a supported control surface.
Tascam has not released 64 bit drivers for this device!  Can anyone shed any light on this?  Will it work only as a control surface and not an audio interface?  Is the documentation in error?  Anyone have this working with Logic Pro X?
    Thanks,
    Lyford Rome

    Lyford,
Again, in regards to hardware... it is not about LPX compatibility.. It is about compatibility with the OS X version and it's CoreAudio... Once you 'get' that point then everything else makes sense...
Tascam are notorious about leaving owners of "End of Line" products 'high and dry' when OS X is updated... and as you have found... the 1884 is not compatible with Mountain Lion 10.8.4 and likely will never be so... because Tascam will not be releasing Mountain Lion drivers for it.. so, it is not something you can use with LPX, which requires Mountain Lion 10.8.4 as a minimum requirement.
As an aside, Apple have acknowledged they make an error in simply using the LP9 Hardware compatibility chart for LPX (as LP9 could be used with earlier OS X versions for which there were drivers for the 1884 for example) and have said they will be issuing an updated version "in the near future"......

  • Does the Citrix ICA client work with Safari for Windows XP?

I really like safari for XP so far. However, I use the Citrix ICA client software to remotely access programs from a server at work. I tried following instructions on the Citrix knowledge base site for installing the client for Firefox, etc. since they did not have any info on Safari for windows. Please help, or I will be stuck using Explorer. Thanks.

The Citrix ICA client doesn't work with Safari on a Mac. Given the number of bugs and other problems with the Safari 3 Beta for Windows, I'd guess that the chances of Citrix working with this release are slim to none. However, the Citrix ICA client works well with Firefox 2.0, in case you're interested in trying it.

Hi IIIaass. If you have problem with older routers, Apple recommends you update the router firmware.
