Does the MBP use MXM?

MXM is a system which allows you to change the video card in a notebook. I know it voids the warrenty, but does anyone know if the MBP uses the technology? The iMac has been using it since 2005 no one has tried changing the video card in any of the Macs because custom video card wouldn't work with Mac OSX because it only has driver support for the video cards that Apple used or has used in any of its Macs. It would work through Boot Camp, though.

Okay, thanks that's what I thought. It was proven that the iMac has the MXM technology, though. Apple even released driver updates for the MXM technology:

  • Does the iPhone use a lot of data?

I'm planning to get an iPhone from AT&T, and here's how I want it:
AT&T Family Plan (550 minutes) with 2 lines
    Messaging 1000
2 GB data package for iPhone
The second line won't have the messaging or the data plan and will most likely have a basic phone.
But here's what I'm kind of concerned about: how much data does the iPhone use on average? Will 2 GB be enough?
Also, as a subtopic, how does the messaging 1000 plan work? Does it mean that I can send 1000 texts/pics and also receive 1000 texts/pics, or is it 500 each? What about for 2 GB data? How does that work?
This last question may be a stupid question, but will the two lines share the same phone number, or will each get a different number?

You can use this to estimate your data usage,
    AT&T Data Usage Calculator: http://www.att.com/standalone/data-calculator/index.html
"Wi-Fi usage doesn't count against the data included in your plan"

  • Does the MBP Late 2006 output 1080p @ 24 Hz?

I'm planning to hook up my MBP Late 2006 model to a Panasonic plasmascreen.
Since the tv supports 1080p/24p Im wondering if the MBP can output 1080p @ 24 Hz? Im planning to use a DVI-I -> HDMI cable.
    Thanks in advance

I just read that DVI does not support Deep Color:
    (From Wikipedia)
Features specific to HDMI (such as remote-control, audio transport, xvYCC, and deep-color) are not usable in devices that only support DVI signalling. However, many devices can output HDMI over a DVI output (e.g., ATI 3000-series and NVIDIA GTX 200-series video cards),[2] and some multimedia displays may accept HDMI (including audio) over a DVI input. In general, exact capabilities vary from product to product.
Can the MBP output HDMI over the DVI output?

  • Help needed in doing the scenario using BAPI.

    Hi...
Please help me out in doing the below sceanrio.
Input is the material number or name.
we have to check whether the material is available or not, and if it is available we have to find out the cost of that material. If the materila is not available we have to get the suppliers to get that material.
    This is the scenario.
which type of BAPI we have to use for doing the above scenario.
Please help in doing this sceanrio.
    Regards,
    Leela

    Hi,
Use to this BAPI BAPI_MATERIAL_EXISTENCECHECK and provide the material no as the input. you can check whether that material exists or not.
Also if you want to check the details of a particular material you can use BAPI_MATERIAL_GET_ALL (For costing you can find the details in Valuation data) and also BAPI_MATERIAL_GET_DETAIL

  • Does the adapter use power when there's no phone connected?

    Hi all,
I was wondering: Does the Apple poweradapter consume electricity, when there's no iPhone (or iPad etc.) connected to it?
I leave my adapters and cables in a poweroutlet all the time, which I can turn off but I was just curious about this. I read different things all over the internet, so I thought it would be best to ask my question here.
I have the original Apple 10W adapters, with the lightning usb cable, iPhone 5 and iPad 4. I live in The Netherlands by the way, if that makes any difference.
    Thanks!
    Stefan

Wall adapters do use a very small amount ... but it is miniscule, and not worth considering.   Though I suppose there would be an unacceptable loss in 'green' eyes if there were 10,000 of them connected.

  • Does the ODM using PL/SQL require the JVM?

Does the database need to have the the Java Virtual Machine running in order to use the ODM PL/SQL calls?
Is it true that $20k/cpu is required to use ODM?

Using ODM PL/SQL api does not require JVM installed in the database.
In 10.1 release, the installation of ODM product which included Java api and PL/SQL api requires JVM to be installed in the database. In 10.2 release, this requirement is no longer existed.

  • Does the 5s use the same case as the 5?

    Does anyone know if the 5s uses the same cases as the 5?  Just trying to get a head start.:-}

The 5 and the 5S have essentially the same physical configurations in termns of size, so yes, in most instances a case designed for the 5 should work on the 5s.

  • How well does the MBP work for gameplay?

Now I know what you're thinking. If I'm solely looking for a gaming computer than I should get a computer solely for gaming, but this is not the case. I would just simply like to play World of Warcraft occasionally. The game is pretty intensive. I'm willing to upgrade the ram to 8gb, but that won't really drastically change the gameplay. How good is the gamecard that comes with it or should I upgrade it? If I can even upgrade it. What's the fps? All that stuff. Thanks in advance.

    Hi Jesse,
I'm thinking you might have posted this question in the wrong forum. This is the MacBook Air forum, in your title you ask about the MBP and in your question you ask about going to 8GB of RAM. The MacBook Air does not support upgrading the RAM, maximum of 4GB. In addition the MacBook Air is commonly abreviated as MBA.
If there's been a mix up and you're legitimately asking about the Air, here's my impressions of it -
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/15682909#15682909
For what it's worth, the GPU in the 13" MBP is identical to the one in the 11" & 13" MBA. Although the 11" MBA allocates slightly less system RAM.
World of Warcraft, as you know, can run reliably on some pretty old machines. It definitely runs just fine on the Intel HD 3000, in the fair-to-good category. I can't say I was thrilled with the performance in a 25-man Firelands raid last week but it's acceptable.

  • If I charge my iPod Touch with an unplugged MacBook Pro, does the MBP discharge more quickly?

    It's just a doubt.

It simply would not be smart to charge your iPod from your MacBook Pro when the MBP is unplugged from the main power source. It will quickly discharge your battery - yes, VISIBLY (whatever that may mean) - possibly putting your MBP into deep hibernation mode since the battery will be quickly drained.

  • What does the setting 'use system proxy setting' mean?

I am using a proxy server that requires my email address which I need to change. I can't figure out how to change the proxy server settings. Under preferences, network, settings, the checked box is 'use system proxy settings' -- I don't know what this means or how to see what the proxy setting is and possibly change it.
    Thank you

If the default "Use system proxy settings" is selected then Firefox will try to query the OS to find which settings to use.<br />
If you want to use a specific proxy in Firefox then you can select use "Manual proxy configuration" and enter the URL and port number that you want to use.

  • Which mouse-side does the user use?

    Dear friends,
I need to know which mouse-side the user uses.
For example: A right-hand user uses the left-mouse button as primary.

    I need that to know.
How to do that in an applet?
    The applet has full-rights.

java.awt.MouseEvent refers to the buttons as BUTTON1, BUTTON2 and BUTTON3. It also has a notion of NOBUTTON. There is no hint anywhere of a mouse button being physically left, right or middle.
I would imagine the user (of whatever handedness) can set up the hardware (mouse, trackball etc)/OS/Desktop Manager they are using so that the primary button is whichever suites them. I had always assumed this is what MouseEvent refers to as BUTTON1.
So you detect the primary button as getButton()==BUTTON1, but you can't ever know if it's physically left. (Or indeed if an actual mouse generated the event).
