No it doesn't. You need to purchase it from Microsoft.

Those chat images only work with iOS based devices.  If they're being sent to someone without an iOS device, it will go through as an ASCII character.

  • Snow Leopard already installed on Macbook Pros?

I know this may seem like a stupid question but cut me some slack, I've never had a mac before.
I just bought a brand new MacBook Pro today. It came with a disc "Mac OS X Snow Leopard". Is this disc already installed on my computer or do I have to insert it and install it? It also came with two grey discs entitled "Applications Install DVD" and "Mac OS X install DVD". Are these also already installed? Thanks!

It's confusing. The disc just says "Mac OS X Snow Leopard". It doesn't say what version it is. It does say 1. Instal such and such, however I'm a PC user and usually the discs that come with the computer are already installed, they are just backup incase your computer has some sort of problem.
Actually I did just see on the front of the "Everything Mac" handbook it says, "10.5.7 Leopard" but, not knowing a mac, I wouldn't know if that was any different.
Do I have to install those grey discs as well?

  • The iMovie 11 update I just bought from the App Store will not install on Macbook Pro

I have a Macbook Pro and I have iLife 09, I updated all the other iLife 09 apps to iLife 11 (iPhoto, Garage Band) . So I bought the update for iMovie yesterday and it seems to downloaded fine but when I click the install button it doesn't do anything. Can you guys point me in the right direction to get this installed
    Thanks

You have a corrupted old system. At the very least you need to repair the hard drive and permissions before trying to install Mountain Lion. However, this my not be sufficient. You may need to reinstall your old system before trying to install Mountain Lion.
Of course it would be more useful were you to provide the full information on the error message and what OS X version you currently have installed. Also check that you can install Mountain Lion on your model:
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
    iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
    Xserve (Early 2009)

  • What is the "best" internal hard drive compatible with macbook pro 13.3" product number: MD101LL/A  that does not damage OS?

I'm looking for an upgrade in space ( 750gb - 1 TB) and performance on the hard drive, but I have read in many forums that many "compatible" hard drives may damage the OS. I plan on installing bootcampt with Windows 7 and the latest Mac OS. I'm wondering if anyone has updated their HD and if they've experienced any problems with it, or if anyone has any suggestions. Thank you for your advice in advance!

I'm wondering if anyone has had any particular experience with the Seagate 1TB solid state hybrid drive (found here: http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Solid-Hybrid-2-5-Inch-ST1000LM014/dp/B00B99JUBQ). It boasts SSD-like speeds at a fraction of the cost, and its right around my budget, but perhaps its too good to be true?
I have two of those Seagate SSHDs, using one as the internal drive in my primary MBP.  Boot and shutoff times are dramatically less than before (using 7200 rpm HGST HDDs).  In other respects, I have no complaints regarding the drive performance.  I can recommend them based on my limited experience (~3 months).  The $99 price does look very attractive.
Note that when you install a HDD of larger capacity in a MBP, it should be reflected in your backup strategy.  Do you have a backup drive to accommodate the additional data that you will be able to store on the new internal HDD?
    Ciao.

  • Why does the hard drive keep crashing on 2009 MacBook Pro?

We are now on the third hard drive, the second in 5 months.  The problem started after I dropped book on it, but no repairmen have suggested that has anything to do with it.

drop your books on it and you can crash your armature heads in the HD, ....HD are fragile.
I assume the first one died of age.....second from the book drop.......and the third?
    endlightend
Hard drives don't fail often, but they do occasionally
They fail, and often, and new ones fail a LOT more than older ones (sounds silly, but logical)
Hard Drive Warning (all makes and models)
Ironically but logical, new hard drives are far more fragile than one that has been working for several months or a couple years. So beware in your thinking that a new hard drive translates into “extremely reliable”!
Hard drives suffer from high rates of what has been termed "infant mortality". Essentially this means new drives are highly prone to failing in the first few months of usage. This is because of very minor manufacturing defects or HD platter balancing, or head and armature geometry being less than perfect; and this is not immediately obvious and can quickly manifest itself once the drive is put to work.
Hard drives that survive the first few months of use without failing are likely to remain healthy for a number of years.
Generally HD are highly prone to death or corruption for a few months, then work fine for a few years, then spike in mortality starting at 3-4 years and certainly should be considered end-of-life at 5-7+ years.
The implication of this is that you should not trust a new hard drive completely (really never completely!) until it has been working perfectly for several months.
Given the second law of thermodynamics, any and all current mfg. HD will, under perfect storage conditions tend themselves to depolarization and a point will be reached, even if the HD mechanism is perfect, that the ferromagnetic read/write surface of the platter inside the HD will entropy to the point of no return for data extraction. HD life varies, but barring mechanical failure, 3-8 years typically.

I am installing a new iMac with Snow Leopard.

Does the QT MPEG2 Playback Component install & work with QT X ?
I cannot get "muxed" MPEG2 content (e.g., VOB) file to load in QT X but both QT 7 Pro (with usual audio limitations) and MPEG Streamclip still function normally under Snow Leopard. (Since I don't normally use QT X, I had to actually run a quick test to see what would happen and haven't really performed any real tests. So take my comments with a grain of salt at this time.)
