Does the new Garageband open files in older versions?

Maybe a dumb question, but I couldn't find assurance anywhere that upgrading to GarageBand 10.0.2 allows backward compatibility. If so, maybe Apple should tout this in all the ads, notices and promotion....

Do we know why Apple neglected to mention this anywhere in their new feature lists, promotions, pop ups, ads, email blasts and message boards for GB?
Apple rarely publishes the reasons for such decisions, but it isusually expected that new releases of an application will be able to open the documents and data of the previous version. Apple will put a warning into the release notes if that is not possible.

    No.
I find it extremely frustrating that Apple does not care for such an obvious bug affecting one of the basic funcionalities of AirPlay. Unless, of course, if there's something I don't know - but I've done some research and it seems that plenty of people have same issue and no solution is settled.

  • What does the error message "Opening file in iCloud(state=5) mean?

I have been ushing iCloud to backup my data for Ascendo DataVault for my iPhone 5 (iOS 7.0.4) and original iPad (iOS 5.1.1) very successfully for some time.  Both devices are synchronized with my PC using Wi-Fi.  The DataVault data on my PC is also synchronized on my wife's iPhone 5 (iOS 7.0.4) and iPad Mini (iOS 7.0.4).  Recently, every attempt to synchronize my iPhone or iPad with my iCloud results in the error message "Opening file in iCloud(state=5)," but my wife's iPhone and iPad continue to synchronize with her iCloud without any problems.  What does this error message mean, and is there a cure for the problem?

    OK found a solution!
    It is really lame!
NEVER add a reminder in iCal dragging them into the Week or Day view!!!
Change to Month view and then drag the reminder on the desired day!
You can now change to Week or Day view and move the reminder to the selected hours.
Please help share this solution and click like to get Apple to finally fix this issue, which is clearly on their side.
    Thank you

  • Opening files from older versions of Keynote to newer versions

Grad student here trying to access her notes. I just updated my Keynote to version 6.2.2 from 5.1 (or so). I had tons of notes from previous classes on my Macbook I can't access because they "are not the right Keynote format."  I searched the web for solutions and tried the one with converting the .key to a .zip doc and back, and that didn't help. Anyone have any solutions?

Play safe and continue to use version 5 to open version 5 files. Unless you have deleted it, version 5 is in the iWork 09 folder in applications.
There are many issues with trying to open older file types in version 6, if they open at all.

  • Opening Files in older version of the Labview

    hi,
i was working in the labview 8.2 demo version, in that i have developed some of the applications.

The files i have developed in the demo version of 8.2 is not opening in 8.0.
    Please provide some suggestions ASAP,
because of this we are investing lot of time in rebuilting the application again.
    Regards,
    Raghu

Yes, you can have both versions installed on the same computer.
(I am curious. Why did you get version 8.0. Why didn't you get the registered version of 8.20 instead? )

open the editor pane, click the Track tab at the upper left of it; it's now called Pitch Correction

installing GBv10 doesn't delete the old version, its in a folder in your Applications folder

Thanks for this mha007 - I can now open FF with a new profile. Can I copy my settings from the old profile or will this bring over the same problem, maybe a corrupt file. If it would bring the same problem, is there any way I can check which file is corrupt, apart from taking them over one by one?

  • Why does the new version not have back-up disc in the library file? And how do I fix it?

Why does the new version of i-tunes not have back-up to disc in the library file? And how do I fix it?

Fast backup for iTunes library  (Windows)
Grab SyncToy  2.1, a free tool from MS. This can be used to copy your entire iTunes library (& other important data folders) onto another hard drive or network share. You can then use SyncToy periodically to synchronise or echo your library to the backup. A preview will show which files need to be updated giving you a chance to spot unexpected changes and during the run only the new or updated files will be copied saving lots of time.
If your media is all organised below the main iTunes folder then you should also be able to open the backup library on any system running the same version of iTunes, regardless of the drive letter or path it appears on.

  • It is very difficult to import audio files from extern drives (NAS) into the new garageband

it is very difficult to import audio files from extern drives (NAS) into the new garageband.

Are you trying to open an audio file in GarageBand or a GarageBand project?
To open an audio file drag it from your NAS to a real-instrument track in GarageBand.
If you are trying to open a GarageBand project - can you open the same project, if you copy it to your system drive?
    Trying Google translate -

  • Why does the new operating system not delete the moved files from their original location - it seems like an enormous waste of space, time and effort to clean up every file once you've moved it

Why does the new operating system not delete the moved files from their original locations - it seems like an enormous waste of space, time and effort to clean up every file once you've moved it - also, when transferring large amounts of files it becomes a very large problem remembering which files were transferred and which not.

You're going to need to be more specific, as I'm not quite sure I understand what you're talking about.
If you're referring to copying from an external hard drive or flash drive, and you want to actually move files rather than copy them, you can hold down the option key to force it to do a "move" rather than a "copy." This is not new behavior, though... the Mac OS has worked this way as long as I can recall (and I've been using it since 1984).
If you're having a problem with trying to move files from one place to another on a single drive causing them to be copied instead, that is likely because of some permissions issue preventing you from actually being able to move them.

  • I just bought 15' Mac book pro. as i work a lot on Garageband. I even downloaded all the drummers and loops to update the new Garageband 10.0.1 now my problem is that all my past work which i did on older version on GB, has missing sounds in it.

now my problem is that all my past work which i did on older version on GB, has missing sounds in it. so here are my questions
    1. DO i have to install JAMPACKS on my new Macbook pro?
    2. Are JAMPACKS still compatable with the new GB?
    3. There is an UPDATE on the new GB on Appstore and once i click it, it goes to billing no detail is provided what this update is for so help!
    thanks

See: This document explains what the in-App purchase is about.

Do you still have your old Mac?
How did you migrate from the old Mac to the new Mac? Did you transfer your old software and documents using Setup Assistant? Then your old GarageBand '11 version should have been migrated, and all your instruments.
if you did  not migrate GarageBand '11, copy your old Instruments Library and Loop Library over from the old mac. Copy the following folders to a thumbsdrive and merge the missing dontents into the corresponding folders on your new mac:  (from the system library - the top level library folder on your Macintosh HD):
    /Library/Application Support/GarageBand/
    /Library/Audio/Apple Loops/
And if you would like to continue to use GarageBand '11 for access to missing features, copy also /Applications/GarageBand over, but to a subfolder of Applications. I recommend, to install the old GarageBand as well. It can be used in parallel to GB 10.0, and will come in handy, if your old projects are having problems.

    2. Are JAMPACKS still compatable with the new GB?
The JamPacks are nice to have, a terrific collection of instruments and loops, but if you did not have them previously, that will not help with your missing instruments. You can instll them by buying Mainstage 3. They work well with GarageBand 10.0

  • Why does the folder "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Elements" open automatically when I start my PC?

Why does the folder "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Elements" open automatically when I start my PC? How do I adjust settings to stop this from happening?

    Hi,
This folder is probably treated as a program to run at startup.
So you will have to look at the places where such programs are referenced.
For instance, you may have a shortcut to that folder in your Start Menu > Startup.
Or it may be in the Registry.
Click on Start >  Execute, the type msconfig and click OK.
This will show you in the Startup tab all the programs launched at startup.

  • Does the new version of DVDSP open iDVD6 projects????

Does the new version of DVDSP open iDVD6 projects???
I tried to open an iDVD project in DVDSP 4 (because I liked the iDVD template I had used for that project)...
but I couldn't do it. If I upgrade to the latest version of DVDSP... can I do it then?
    Thanks,
    Erik Nanstiel

You are limited to importing iDVD 3 and 4 projects with DVDSP 3 or 4. And since they didn't update DVDSP in Final Cut Studio 2, it seems this limitation will be around for a while.
