Does the new Ipod Nano (7th gen?) have a Lock?

The older ipods had Lock Buttons. How do I 'lock' or prevent my Nano (7th gen I think) from turning on when I don't want it to.

Press the sleep button on the top. Hold it down if you want to completely shut down the Nano.

  • Can any one advise me if the new ipod nano 7th gen has a sleep timer on it?

I have just be giving a new style Ipod Nano 7th gen for christmas and wanted to know if it has the facility of playing music and setting up a sleep timer alarm so that it switches itself off after either 30min or 60mins?
I have had an ipod nano 4th gen for about 4 years and it has this sleep timer facility on it which i absolutely love and use every night.
So can anyone advise me on this and if it does still have this facility on the newer model that would be great and how i would go about setting it up on my new ipod nano 7th Generation.

Thank you Chamar for replying to me, i will have a look at printing of the full manual and having a proper read throught it.
Happy New Year to you all.

  • Does the new ipod touch (5th gen) have an 8gb version?

I know it has 32gb and 64gb but is there an 8gb

There is not. According to Apple's online store there is only a 32 and 64 GB version.

  • Making new ipod nano 7th gen an exact copy of old ipod nano 5th gen?

I just purchased the new ipod nano 7th gen, I have an ipod nano 5th gen, and I'm wondering if there is a simple way of making the new nano an exact copy of the old one, e.i. all the same content, settings, etc? I read through the manual and couldn't find anything about it. Thanks for any help!

He is right that if you want to copy the content, do it through iTunes. As for the settings, some aren't identical with the 5g. For example, there is no option to edit menus or the main app icons (adding/removing) like in previous iPod nanos. I hope the put this feature back in soon.
Your best bet is to just go through the settings by hand again; there aren't that many. Sorry if this isn't the answer you were hoping for.

  • I got a new iPod nano 7th gen., but when I tried downloading a video from my iTunes library a message popped up that said: Some of the videos in your iTunes library cannot be copied to your iPod because they cannot be played on this iPod.

I got a new iPod nano 7th gen, but when i tried downloading a video from my iTunes library a message popped up that said: Soem of the videos in your iTunes library were not copied to yor iPod because they cannot be played on this iPod. What should I do?

I kept having a similar problem - 3 out of the 10 videos I had on iTunes wouldn't sync. They were in the right format and I KNEW they worked on my iPod because I'd RECORDED them on my iPod. I finally figured out what to do! Go to the movies in your iTunes library. Click on one that does not sync. Click on "Advanced" at the top of iTunes and choose "Create iPod or iPhone version". Once that's finished, be sure you delete the old version so you don't keep getting the error (or have 2 copies of the same video) and sync. This should eliminate the problem. At least it did for me!

  • Hi everyone, I was wondering if someone can help me.  I recently got my first ever Ipod.  It's the new Ipod Nano 7th Generation.  I have tried to synchronise it with Itunes but it says "Connected, Eject before Disconnecting" but nothing happens.

Hi everyone, I was wondering if someone can help me.  I recently got my first ever Ipod.  It's the new Ipod Nano 7th Generation.  I have tried to synchronise it with Itunes but it says "Connected, Eject before Disconnecting" but nothing happens.  I have tried uninstalling & re-installing Itunes but this didnt help.
    Does anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks for your help.

I think the problem is that the iPod got set to Manually manage music and videos.  It needs to be set up for automatic syncing again.  Just unchecking that Manually manage music and videos setting does not do it.
In iTunes 12, select the iPod in iTunes (using the device button), so that you see the iPod's "management" screen.  In the sidebar (along left side of screen), there are two headings (Settings and On My Device).  Under Settings, click on Music.  To the right, you see the iPod's Music screen, where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to the iPod.
Check the box at the top for Sync Music.  That turns ON automatic syncing for music.  Below that, choose the option to sync Entire music library (assuming your music library fits completely on your iPod).  Otherwise, you can choose the option to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres and make your selections below.  Then click Apply.

  • Help with Syncing new iPod Nano 7th Gen

I just bought a new IPod Nano 7th Generation.  I set it up on iTunes and was able to sync music to it but was unable to sync photos from iPhoto or Photos (the new beta photo app with Yosemite).  When I chose Sync All Photos the only choice was the Pictures folder or other folder, thus only one picture synced.  I suspect this has to do with the beta Photos app but not sure.  Also my new iPod does not show up in the iTunes list of approved devices.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks so much.

You have to shake the Nano again to get it to Shuffle to another song. If you want to shuffle the songs in your playlist, start a song from that playlist and then enable the Shuffle option from the additonal controls that you bring up on the Now Playing screen.

  • Why does my replacement iPod nano 7th gen not sync?

I've just got a replacement iPod nano 7th gen after my last one was faulty (suddenly having white screens etc) - exact same model type. I've charged it, and when I put the new replacement iPod in the computer it makes the regular sound to let me know its recognised the iPod. The iPod shows the 'connected - eject before disconnecting' sign so that part of it seems to be working.
I then go to devices looking to sync the music into my new iPod and then when I do that the 'Sync' button is grey and will not let me progress to sync. This is the problem I am having and I need help.
Let me know if you need any more information, thank you.

I am a UK resident btw If that helps.

  • Does the new ipod nano fit into the apple docking station the same as the former ipod nano?

I have an apple docking station and I know that the ipod nano is thinner but other than eprhaps being a little wobbly does it fit into the same socket as the original ipod nano?
    Thanks

You need the lightning-to-30-pin adapter. Get it from an apple store.

  • Does anyone know the battery life (how many hours)of new ipod nano 7th gen while using bluetooth?

Hoping to find out the battery life of the new nano (7th generation) while using bluetooth.  Has anyone found out how many hours the new one gets with BT?
I have the 6th generation nano, and while using bluetooth it only makes about 3 hours before being fully drained.

About 9 hours continuous runtime with BT + music playback in this review at least - http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/reviews/entry/apple-ipod-nano-seventh-generatio n/P5

  • Existing Nike+ workouts stored on the Nike website to new iPod nano 7th gen?

Will my existing workouts stored on the Nike website (recorded via Nike+ on my iPhone 4S) be downloaded/added to my new 7th gen. Nano?  I wouldn't want to have to start over re: my accumulated data... And I want to be able to see it all on my new 7th gen. Nano (when I get it).  Will it all show up there?

No they don't. I tried the same and it did not happen.

  • Does the new iPod nano come with any games?

My iPod Gen 4 has Solitaire and a couple of other games on it.  Are there any games on the new release?

You do know the 6th Generation Nano also did not have a video camera, calendars, contacts, alarms and a mic?
Sales of the 5th generation were not close to previous versions and with the release of the iPod Touch Apple took the Nano in a different direction making it smaller and lighter and more in the Shuffle family.
You can record voice memos using a headset with a microphone.
Hold onto your 5th generation and when the battery dies hope that Apple is till replacing them. It is so difficult to change the battery in the 5th Generation that 3rd party sites won't even attempt it. They will sell you the battery but it is a ***** to replace it yourself. I sold my 5th when the 6th came out as I never used the video, or the voice recorder or contacts, calendars, etc. I do miss the alarms.
