Does the original iPad case fit the new iPad (2012)

Hello Folks..Does the original iPad case fit the new iPad? I am looking for a case but haven't been happy with the choices so far...Has anyone tried the original iPad case on the new iPad? if so, how is it?
Thanks!!

Here's the thicknesses: iPad 1 - 0.5", iPad 2 - 0.34", iPad 3 - 0.37"
So an iPad 3 would fit loosley in an iPad 1 case. However, the iPad 1 doesn't have a camera, so no camera hole in the case. The iPad 3 camera opening in the case may need to be somewhat larger than the iPad 2 camera hole. Unless it's form fitting, I think most iPad 2 cases may fit the iPad 3, but it may be tight.
For my iPad 2, I bought an Adesso case/keyboard model WKB-2000CD http://www.adesso.com/en/component/content/article/49-coming-soon/455-wkb-2000cd .html Works great & looks good. The keyboard is easier to use than Apple's on-screen keyboard. Do a Google search using the model number to get the best price. About the same price as Apple's covers & it covers the whole iPad. Although the new iPad  is slightly thicker, it should fit this case.
 Cheers, Tom

It appears that it only fits the new iPad. Here is the description page. Go down to the lower left corner where it talks about compatibility.

  • Will an iPad case fit the new iPad Air 2

Will an iPad case fit the new iPad Air 2? I found a charging case for an iPad but it doesn't specifically say for iPad Air 2.

No, it will be too large.

  • Will the standard iPad case fit the the iPad Air or is there a specific type case for the iPad Air?

Will the standard iPad case fit the the iPad Air or is there a specific type case for the iPad Air?

The air is different dimensions from other iPads, so look for cases made specifically for it. I know that Targus has some, so does Zagg and i'm sure other manufacturers do as well.

  • Will the iPhone 5 cases fit the iPod Touch 5?

Will an iPhone 5 case fit the iPod Touch 5?

Yes, Actually it fit really well and the dimension difference is technical not physical so the iPhone case hugs the iPod comfortably and there is not rattle or movement whatsoever.
I " don't think so" like others.. I've done this and own one!

  • Will the iPhone 5C case fit the iPhone 5S?

I'm planning on buying the iPhone 5S, but I love the 5C. I was just wondering what the dimensions for each Apple case were and whether they'd fit each phone or not. Thanks!

In theory yes ,in practice depends on how good a job the case manufacturer has done their design
The dimensions of all iP5 are similar

  • Will the griffin survivor case for ipad 2 fit the new ipad?

Just wondering if the version for ipad2 fits the new ipad?

Yes, but the charge cable is the only device that fits this case. It won't accept the hdmi or camera sd accessories. That is until I modified the hard inner case to accept those. The silicone black outer case is not cut, but will push away to accept those wider connectors. You do lose some of the pop of the display with the plastic film, which is also a fingerprint magnet, and tapping in the corners is fussy.

  • Do the iPad 2 Cases fit the Retina iPad?

Would the snap on and silicone cases fit the Retina Display iPad

Yours does - but a lot more (particularly hard cases) don't.
To the OP: if you have a hard case, be extra caotious when applying  an iPad 2 hard case. You may end up having to use a knife to get the case off. If, after applying two corners, you see it won't fit, do NOT try to fit the third corner!

  • Will iPad3 cases fit the new iPad4 (besides the obviously smaller lightning connector)?

Just wondering if there are any physical differences between the devices (size, thickness, button/jack/speaker placement, etc.) that would prevent me from using an iPad 3 case on a new iPad 4 (aside from the smaller lightening connector)?
Thank you for your replies and assistance :-)

Yes, the iPad 3 case will fit the iPad 4.

  • Does iphone 5 cases fit the 5s

Does iphone 5 cases fit the new iphone 5s

It works great. I put my iPhone 5 version Lifeproof fre case on my new 5S and everything lines up. The camera hole lines up and the flash hole is just barely big enough for the new dual flash. I took a flashlight to the front of the 5S and all the sensors on the front of the device by the front camera are in the same place as the 5. I took some test pictures and they are fine, no vignetting. No fingerprint sensor functionality but I assume that is what Lifeproof is working on with the 5S case.

  • Upgrading from an iPad1 (os 5.5.1) to iPad Air.  I want to still use the original, but want to transfer my iPad 1 stuff to my new iPad.  Do I restore (doesn't that also restore the old os?) or set up as new?

I'm ipgrading from an iPad1 (os 5.5.1) to a new iPad Air.  I want to still use the original, but want to transfer my iPad 1 stuff to my new iPad.  Do I restore (doesn't that also restore the old os?) or set up as new?
Also, every time I get a new device and transfer stuff from the old, I wind up with no folders.  How can I avoid that this time?
    Thanks in advance!

Make a backup of your old iPAd to itunes or iCloud.
Then restore from that backup when setting up the new iPad Air.
The restore will put your data onto the new iPad.  (The Os will remain at 7).
Folder structure is a little iffy. Since backups don't restore Apps, only data, you would still need to re-download the Apps to the new Air and as such would need to create the folders for them.

Note: For devices without a camera, Camera Roll is called Saved Photos.
Contacts* and Contact Favorites (regularly sync contacts to a computer or cloud service such as iCloud to back them up).

    Microsoft Exchange account configurations.
    Call history.
Messages (iMessage and carrier SMS or MMS pictures and videos).
Voicemail token. (This is not the voicemail password, but is used for validation when connecting. This is only restored to a phone with the same phone number on the SIM card).
    Voice memos.
Network settings (saved Wi-Fi hotspots, VPN settings, network preferences).
Keychain (this includes email account passwords, Wi-Fi passwords, and passwords you enter into websites and some other applications. If you encrypt the backup, you can transfer the keychain information to the new device. With an unencrypted backup, you can restore the keychain only to the same iOS device. If you are restoring to a new device with an unencrypted backup, you will need to enter these passwords again.)
App Store Application data (except the Application itself, its tmp and Caches folder).
Application settings, preferences, and data, including documents.
    In-app purchases.
    Game Center account.
    Wallpapers.
Location service preferences for apps and websites you have allowed to use your location.
    Home screen arrangement.
Installed Profiles. When restoring a backup to a different device, installed configuration profiles are not restored (such as accounts, restrictions, or anything which can be specified through an installed profile.) Any accounts or settings that are not associated with an installed profile will still be restored.
Map bookmarks, recent searches, and the current location displayed in Maps.
Nike + iPod saved workouts and settings.
Paired Bluetooth devices (which can only be used if restored to the same phone that did the backup).
