Does the PIXMA IP8720 use an "USB 3" cable?

The IP8720 does not ship with an USB cable. The marketing highlights that the printer has "Hi-speed" USB. Is this the same as "USB 3"? Or will it accept a standard USB cable.

  • Does the iphone 6 use the same car charger as the iphone 5

does the iphone 6 use the same car charger as the iphone 5

My setup in my car is this: I have a 3-foot USB to USB extension coming out of my factory USP port in my vehicle, and attached to the end is a short Apple lightning cable. I ran this combo through the console and up and out by the steering column - with a Bracketron holder that clips into my vent. Worked great with my iPhone 5. I tried it with my iPhone 6 and after about 30 seconds of being plugged in (while driving) it said the accessory was not compatible. I unplugged and tried multiple times ... no dice. Today I went into my local Apple store and discussed it with genius. He said the iPhone 6 phones have an special chip inside of them that will detect third-party charging devices (in my case it was the USB extension). They did this because of some instances of fires with non-Apple lightning cables. I purchased a 6-foot Apple lightning cable, and replaced the old setup and it works fine now.

  • What kind of technology does the internal microphone use?

Does the internal mic use USB, Bluetooth, or analog technology. (Rosetta Stone voice recorder/analyzer is crashing app)

I am having the same problem with Rosetta Stone voice recorder/analyzer activity. RS told me to wait before going to the next window in the exercise but this did not help. I had the same experience with an older Mac laptop. I will follow up with Apple under warranty.

  • Can the Pixma iP8720 print on 230 gsm 61 lb paper?

Can the Pixma iP8720 printer feed & print 230gsm/61 lb 8.5x11 paper without rejecting or jamming? Been using this paper to print photo covers for soft cover photo books on an Epson WF 30. I need a better printer and I'm 99% committed to buying this Canon Pixma iP8720 if it can print on this heavy paper. Thanks, Russ

Hi brassman, The PIXMA iP8720 can use plain paper that is 17 to 28 lb (64 to 105 g /m2) (except for Canon genuine paper), and non-Canon genuine specialty paper that is up to 53 lb (200 g /m2).  We do not recommend using paper that is lighter or heavier than these paper weights in the printer, as they may jam or do damage to the printer. For printers that can handle up to 61 lb paper, we recommend our Professional Photo InkJet Printers.  These printers can handle up to 93 lb (350 g / m2) when using the manual feed tray of the printer. Hope this helps!

  • How much space on the hard/flash drive does the Operating System use on the macbook

I Would like to buy a MacBook but the actual space on the flash hard drive is quite minimal. How much of this small space does the operating system use?

In order for Yosemite needs to have at least 10 GB of free space for the use of OS X and the things it does. If you have less then that the performance with start to degrade until eventually OS X will freeze up.
If you think you will be getting close to that you might want to consider getting and external disk drive where you can store some of your file such as music, videos movies and photos.

Why does the Java API use int if short or even byte would be sufficient?
Example: The DAY_OF_WEEK field in Calendar uses int.

One of the point is, on the benchmark tests on Java performance, int does far better than short and byte data types.

"How does UCCX manage it’s database connections – a connection pool manager / single connection / single connection for each call"
Does anyone actually know ?  Is it documented anywhere?
Based on how the steps work I'd guess that the UCCX engine makes a new single DB connection each time the DB step reaches out the DB for a read/write. I assume it would do this independently for every instance of a script running.  Hence the importance of the DB release step I'm guessing.
I know in the DB subsystem you can configure the maximum number of DB connections to be used but this doesn't imply how they are used.
I'm not a DB guy, but I think the concern stems from the potential load on a DB server with the constant opening and closing of the DB connections.  I'm assuming that if it used a connection pool the UCCX engine would open, and keep open, a group of DB connections to be used by the UCCX engine. This would lessen the load on the DB server I'm assuming.
Is there any fundamental difference with UCCX 8 and the DB access ?  It obviously not ODBC anymore.  It JDBC right ? But again how does the UCCX engine use the DB connection?

To my knowledge, this is not documented; however, at least through 7.0 the MIVR subsystem will open a pool of ODBC connections equal to the maximum you defined and keep them open. If you set it to 50, you will see 50 open connections on the SQL server. Each script that is triggered will attach to one of the available connections as soon as you use a DB-related step and keep it until you use a DB Release step. Once that script instance releases it, the connection is available for another script.
The behavior should not change with 8.0 as it is the same MIVR subsystem that is doing the work. My first CCX 8.0 project that needs database integration is still about 30 days away so I can't guarantee that though.

At the past,i use the designer 6i rel4 on the 8.1.7 a long
time, while i upgrade the database to 9i,i can not use designer.
I have installed 9i client on the client. All of the process
seems Ok.But when i execute the designer, after enter the
Login, the designer will be closed immediately.
Does the designer not use on 9i?
    Thanks.

I've been facing the same problem. We installed Oracle Designer
    6i R4 (Repository version=6.5.52.2) on Oracle 9i
While creating the repository, some of Designer views failed
    (CI_ROOT_APPLICATION_SYSTEMS, CI_CONTAINER_ELEMENTS,...)
Both views, have CONSTRAINTS name as one of their columns.
Oracle 9i, does not accept that name in creating the view. We
renamed the column to CONSTRAINTS1 to let the process go on.
Afterwards, designer is not connecting properly, compaining
that "CDR-20043 - Non-versioned repository has no workarea or
    insufficient privileges"
Does Oracle Designer 6i R4 works on Oracle 9i ?????
    Please help!
