Does the single user license Leopard allow installation on two Macs?

Does the single user license Leopard OS 10.5 allow installation on two Macs - say my G5 desktop I use at home and the Macbook Pro I take on the road?

Thanks everyone. I don't intend to risk at that… seriously, the problem is many software licenses allow for installation on two computers (one "at home" and the other "at work", for instance) - at least all my recent purchases, mostly music production software such as Finale, Logic, Line 6 stuff and Live. That's why I thought Apple might have been a little more generous at that…
I appreciated everyone's help at clarifying that.

  • TS1717 why does the "end user license agreement" come up everytime I open itunes.

this issue has just started recently. it never happened before.

This is sometimes caused by a problem with the iTunesPrefs.xml file, normally found at C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Local\Apple Computer\iTunes\iTunesPrefs.xml. Try dragging this to the desktop and trying again. Alternatively the problem may be that you have McAfee AV and it is causing the problem. See Why does iTunes delete my itunesprefs.xml? for details.

  • Single User License Questions

    Hello,
Firstly, since there is no general forum for iWork as a whole (rather than its individual packages), I have posted it here.
    Anyway, back on track.
I am a British MSc student wanting to purchase iWork Single-User at the discounted education price - as MS office for Mac has no UK education discount and seems to crash an awful lot, and Open/Neo Office is, in my opinion, the worlds most counter productive and clumsy software package out there (I hate it!), I have opted for iWork. After trying the demo I really like it! Very slick.
However, I have noticed that there are two packs available for iWork. Single-User and Family Pack, and have become a little confused about how the licensing for iWork pans out.
I want to install iWork on both my 27" iMac "Ratchet" and on my 13" Alu' Notebook "Clank" (yes those are the actual computer names in System Preferences), so I can work on a document with Clank when out and about, upload it to my iDisk, then work on it again with Ratchet when I get home. I am the only user of these two machines, not even a guest account. Will the Single-User license of iWork install and run without running into problems? Or does single user mean one Mac and one Mac only? If its the latter then it looks like I'll have to make do with OpenOffice until I can afford MS Office 2008/11 and just hope it doesn't crash when I click "save" (which did happen very frequently with MSO2008)
    Thanks in advance!
    Ben

Well that just burst my bubble quite dramatically.
In the education store its £35 for the single user which is a hefty 1/2 price discount, but its still £87 for the family pack, no discount to speak of. £87 is only £12 short of Office 2008, so it looks like I'm waiting until next payday before I can afford it, or I dust off the credit card."
    Thanks for the quick answer

It seems silly having two single user disks and for a little extra I get 5 installs and one less disk.
How is me saying I'll wait until next pay day or making a personal observation considered a rant? I'm puzzled how you came to that conclusion
yes I was snippy in reply to Allan Eckert's suggestion of OpenOffice and I apologise, but a rant? Come on mate, how is any of what I said a rant?

  • Single user license of Snow Leopard on 2 machines then a family user straight to Lion?

I bought a single user license of Snow Leopard and installed it onto an external harddrive so I could boot my machine and check my applications such as Vectorworks 12.5 still work with the new OS.
Now I've done that on both Macs I have at home (MacBookPro 2.4 Intel Core 2 Duo and MacMini 1.83 Intel Core Duo), and now installed Snow Leopard properly on the MacMini (i.e. not booting off the external hard disk).
What I am wondering is that rather than purchase a 2nd user license of Snow leopard, if I was going to upgrade straight to Lion anyway, could I install my single license Snow Leopard on each machine, then upgrade both to Lion on a proper family user license given I'm not actually going to be using Snow Leopard if I upgrade to Lion?
    thanks.

Yes the licence for SL states it can be installed and used on one machine. So if you remove it from the MBP (which you will if you run Lion on it) then there is no reason you can't use it on the Mac Mini.
And just for clarification there is no more Singel User or Family Pack or Family License for Lion. The license allows you to install and run it on as many systems as you own or control. So should you get a Lion compatible system in the future you can use the copy of Lion you now have on it also.
    regards

  • I made changes in the single user mode - now my MacBook Pro does not boot anymore.

    Hello apple support community,
I made changes in the single user mode and my MacBook Pro does now not boot anymore. It displays a grey bar and the "work in progress" wheel. My intention was to change my admin password following these steps:
    http://www.macyourself.com/2009/08/03/how-to-reset-your-mac-os-x-password-withou t-an-installer-disc/
however, I have to admit that there was a typo sneaking in - oops!
Any idea how I can undo changes made in the single user mode?
Thanks in advance for your support - I hope I don't sound to nooby

I would like to purchase Contribute. We currently do not have any of the creative suites or Contribute. How much does it cost to just get the single user for Adobe Contribute CS5? And how do I purchase that?

I think it's just a little over $200 if you don't have an older version to upgrade. Around $100 if you do.
You can get it at www.adobe.com/products/contribute.html.
Click the "buy" button (top right of the page) then select "full" next to where it says "I want to buy". Add it to your cart (at that point you should get the exact price).

  • How does the Concurrent Access License (CAL) work.

Description from Google: How does the Concurrent Access License (CAL) work? Xcelsius Engage Server CALs allow for concurrent live data updates inside Xcelsius dashboards. Every time an end-user triggers a Web service inside an Xcelsius dashboard to retrieve live data, a CAL is consumed for a period of 5 minutes. For that period, in a five CAL deployment for example, there will be only four CALs left for consumption. A five CAL deployment could support up to 25 users and additional CALs can be added to support a larger deployment.
    My question is as follows:
How a five CAL deployment could support up to 25 users and what does it mean. In the first line it is saying that each CAL for a web service is consumed for a period of 5 minutes and how come it can support 25 users concurrently. Did it mean 25 web service connections inside a swf flash file or 25 different users to access a single web service through swf flash.

The "Set cost controls" concurrent program is used in R12 to mass update the cost control fields on item costs.
The cost control region is found by going to Cost management >Item costs > Item Costs
The concurrent program lets you specify which items /costs should be updated by using various parameters such as cost type, item range, category range etc.
And you can specify the source for the new cost control data and the new value for the fields.
    Hope this answers your question,

  • Single User License

Does anyone know if Apple allows a copy of iWork to be installed on a single user's desktop and laptop (when not used at the same time...like Adobe) or is the Family Pack what is needed to be able to install it on more than one machine?

    From the license agreement:
"*iWork Single User License*. This License allows you to install and use one copy of the Apple Software (whether trial or full version) on a single Apple-labeled computer at a time. This License does not allow the Apple Software to exist on more than one computer at a time, and you may not make the Apple Software available over a network where it could be used by multiple computers at the same time. You may make one copy of the Apple Software in machine-readable form for backup purposes only; provided that the backup copy must include all copyright or other proprietary notices contained on the original. "
In other words, you're only allowed to have the software on one computer at a time.

  • Where can I download Acrobat Extended version 9 for use with a single user license?

    Hello,
I am helping a client who has previously purchases a single user license of Acrobat Extended version 9. It shows up under 'My Products' for his Adobe ID account and provides the serial. However, no version of Acrobat I have been able to find on the Adobe.com website or from people asking the same question on these forums will accept his Serial #.
Has adobe made these single user serial #'s invalid due to their change in licensing format, or I am just now finding the correct version to go with this serial? Please assist, I would hate to have to tell this client they have to re-pay for a product they already have purchased simply because you have changed your licensing format.
    Thanks,
    JC

JC you will want to utilize the installation media you received at the time of purchase.  If you choose the download option at the time purchase then the download would be available under your account at http://www.adobe.com/.  You can find more details at Find a download link on Adobe.com.

  • FrameMaker server vs single user licensing requirements for WebWorks Automap?

    Hi guys,
Does anyone happen to know if a FrameMaker server license is required to support a WebWorks Automap HTML generation process?  Or is a single-user license acceptable (so long as only one user is accessing the machine).  My understanding is that WebWorks simply opens and closes FrameMaker files and does not use any FrameMaker functions to produce its content.  I've checked with WebWorks on this, but ultimately it's any potential Adobe licensing restriction that I'm concerned with.
We're currently using unstructured Frame, so much of our content could only be generated by having FrameMaker and WebWorks installed on the same workstation or VM.
    Thanks in advance.

If you're actually running FM on a Windows server platform, then there's a high probability that the EULA demands you use the FrameMaker Publishing Server (FPS) instead. However, if you're just accessing existing FM files and not triggering FM via Webworks to do anything, then I don't see how a FPS license would be required.
There's a bit of info on the differences in the licenses at: FAQ | FrameMaker Publishing Server 12
However, I can't seem to find any more recent versions of the EULAs than the FM11 and FPS10 ones listed here: Licenses and terms of use | Adobe

Nothing to do with the download; you need to open Adobe Reader once after the install is complete, and accept the EULA.

  • I get a message saying: "Before proceeding you must first launch Adobe Acrobat and accept the End User License Agreement". HELP!!

Hi i have an iMac with  10.9.3 and when i tried to open a PDF link or a PDF document in Safari 7.0.4  this message appears: "Before proceeding you must first launch Adobe Acrobat and accept the End User License Agreement".  What can i do to solve this?

Back up all data before making any changes.
Please take each of the following steps until the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, and the problem is just that you can't print or save PDF's displayed in Safari, you may be able to do so by moving the cursor to the the bottom edge of the page, somewhere near the middle. A black toolbar should appear under the cursor. Click the printer or disk icon.
    Step 2
There should be a setting in the preferences of the Adobe application such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected.
    Step 3
If you get a message such as ""Adobe Reader blocked for this website," then from the Safari menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
    and check the box marked
    Allow Plug-ins
    Then click
    Manage Website Settings...
and make any required changes to the security settings for the Adobe PDF plugin.
    Step 4
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens by pressing command-V, then press return.
From the folder that opens, move to the Trash any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari.
    Step 5
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others—I don't have a complete list. Don't remove Silverlight if you use the "Netflix" video-streaming service.
    Step 6
Do as in Step 4 with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari.

  • Why can't I open PDF files on my iMac. I installed Adobe Reader and accepted the end user license, as instructed then quit the application and relaunched it and I still can't view the PDF document. The screen comes out black. Please advice. Thanks

Why can I view PDF files from the Web on my iMac even after I installed Adobe Reader and accepted the end user license agreement.I then quit the application relaunched it, as instructed snd still the PDF document comes out blank or black. Please advice. Thanks

Are you saying that Adobe Reader or Preview can't read PDF file that you download? Or, are you saying that you can't display PDF files in your Safari broweer? If the latter, then delete any AdobePDFViewer plugins you find in /Library/Internet Plug-ins/ and restart. That should allow Safari to display PDFs in its window. BTW, that's the worst place to view them. Better to download them and use Adobe Reader or Preview.
