Does ThinkPad Yoga S1 support 5Ghz Wifi service?

Hello Everone?
I bought my Yoga S1 in May 2014 . It working nicely under the environmet of 802.11n  support Wireless router.
Yoga S1 features 802.11.ac. That is  why I bought new wireless router which supprot  802.11ac  (2.4Ghz, 5.0Ghz)
But, my yoga S1 does not catch 5Ghz wifi service, even can not see any signal about 5Ghz frequency, only catch 2.4Ghz antenna.
Other gardgets such as iphone, iPad has no problem catching ans using 5Ghz wifi over my new 802.11ac  wireless router.
Please give me some hints why this happens to my Yoga S1.
Thanks a lot.

Hello and welcome,
Not all TP Yogas have 5GHz capable wifi cards.  There are several configurations available.
Can you go to device manager and determine which wifi card you have?  Or provide the laptop model number?

  • Does MacBook Early 2008 support 5GHz wifi?

    Hi everybody,
I just want to purchase the new AirPort Express dual band to improve wifi domestic network, but I don't know if my MacBook is using 2,4 or 5 GHz....
    TNX

I don't think this model does.  Only 2.4GHz is supported I think.

  • IPhone 4 iOS 6 Update Doesn't Support 5GHz WiFi?

After upgrading to iOS 6 on my GSM iPhone 4, I've discovered that I can longer access my Apple Time Capsule (Airport Extreme). I do not have the grayed-out wifi option, but rather I can only see wifi base stations in the 2.4Hz spectrum. My Time Capsule is set for 5GHz only to eliminate interference from the large number of wifi access points in the surrounding area. Fortunately i have a Motorola witeless Cable Modem so i am able to access wifi in the 2.4GHz spectrum directly. However, using the AirPort App, I am able to see my Time Capsule, which should not be the case since it should only be visible to devices that can see 5GHz. This is based on my own previous attempts to reset the Time Capsule after setting it to 5GHz only and discovering none of my devices at that time were 5GHz capable.
The iPhone 4 was actively accessing the 5GHz Time Capsule prior to my upgrade to iOS 6. Does the fact that the AirPort App can see the Time Capsule, but can't see the 5GHz network hosted there suggest anything about the settings that may need to be adjusted following the upgrade to iOS 6?
I've read that the grayed-out WiFi option has resulted in some iPhone 4S being replaced under warranty, but obviously my phone is considerably out of warranty at this point. So I am concerned that this is a software fix coming in the next update. While the majority of Wifi access spots are still 2.4GHz, more are moving to the 5GHz spectrum, and I would hate to lose that functionality just to gain a few unspectacular features under iOS 6.
Anybody else have this specific problem, as I have searched and found nothing. most problems seem to affect only the 4S?

    I don't understand your question: the iPhone 4 doesn't -- and never has -- support 5ghz wifi. See http://www.apple.com/iphone/iphone-4/specs.html

  • Does the iphone 4s use 5ghz wifi

I wan't to use my 5ghz wifi on my iPhone 4S but it can't see the SSID for my 5ghz network. The specs page for the iPhone 4S states it uses:
    802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi (802.11n 2.4GHz and 5GHz).
Does anyone know why this isn't working?
BTW - My iPad works just fine on the 5ghz network.

    No. Sorry.

  • Does Thinkpad 8 20BQ000KXS support UHS-I microSD cards?

Does it make sense to buy a fast UHS-I micro SD card to Thinkpad Tablet 8? Will that make a difference against a standard Class10 SD cards? (meaning, if the SD Card controller in the device supports the fast UHS-I cards)

As stated above, with 20MB/s when the card can odo 80MB/s, it means the intergrated SD card reader on the Thinkpad 8  does NOT take advantage of UHS-I cards! That's a real pity! Thus the original question reformulated:how could we get a real support of UHS-I cards?Driver update? OS update? On windows 10?Or is there any hardware limitation?

  • Does BI Publisher 11g Support Restful Web Services as Data Set

    Hi,
Could you tell me if BI Publisher 11g supports the REST API or is SOAP based API required for web services defined as data sets.
    Thanks in advance,

There are External API's which only do JSON outputs. Can this be integrated into a Report? If not, Is there a Enhacement to Add RESTful returning JSON or XML for a Dataset?

  • How does LinkSys WRT54G v7 support RTSP streaming service?

    Hello,
I'm using LinkSys WRT54G v7 and I can see RTSP videos using VLC player from m.youtube.com. Strangely, I cannot play videos if other AP such as DLINK is used instead of LinkSys.
I analyzed the packets and found out that RTSP server(youtube) sends RTP packets to client's ports which are acquired at RTSP SETUP procedures. Then the packets from server cannot reach the client because UDP hole is not punched at the AP.
But, when I use LinkSys, the RTP packets can traverse the NAT.
Here goes my question. Does LinkSys provide the NAT traversal of the RTSP streaming service? Then, why can't I find any feature list about this from the LinkSys product information? Any explanation about this?
Thank you in advance for your help!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    1. None of the NAT helpers in Linksys firmware are documented anywhere.
    2. Possibly, they have added a helper for RTP.
    3. It could also be that the VLC player forwards the port using UPnP.

  • MBA (late 2010) support 5GHz wireless network?

Yes, I have a 5GHz 802.11n network consisting of three airport base stations at home and the new MBA connects and roams seamlessly among them.

  • TVSU not showing latest drivers for Thinkpad Yoga or updating to the latest software

    I'm using Windows 8.1 x64 with a Thinkpad Yoga
I have TVSU (ThinkVantage Software Update) version 5.03.0010 which it updated itself to from a previous version.
However, on the support page for the Thinkpad Yoga:
    http://support.lenovo.com/au/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-yoga-series-laptops/thinkpad-...
The latest version of TVSU is shown to be 5.06.0020
The current version of TVSU I am using is not updating my Intel graphics driver to the latest shown on the the website above (The latest version on the site is 10.18.10.3855 10/17/2014 whereas TVSU only updated mine to 10.18.10.3383 an older version which isn't available on the website).
I prefer to do everything through automated updates and I have run into errors manually updating. Any ideas why this is happening and what I can do to fix it?
    Solved!

This is normal.  All drivers must go through quality certification before showing up on SU. Typically a 2 month delay from the version posted on the support page.
The absolute newest version would be found on www.intel.com. The support site has the absolute newest version.

  • Thinkpad Yoga wakes up on its own after going to sleep blaming lid if wifi was enabled

Recently I've noticed that my Thinkpad Yoga (20CD00B1US) keeps waking up on its own.
    powercfg lastwake returns
    Wake History Count - 1
    Wake History [0]
    Wake Source Count - 1
    Wake Source [0]
    Type: Device
    Instance Path: ACPI\PNP0C0D\2&daba3ff&2
    Friendly Name:
    Description: ACPI Lid
    Manufacturer: (Standard system devices)
It happens either if lid was kept open and I used power button to put it to sleep or if I just close the lid. As soon as I do that I can see red LED goes on and off slowly so I know it is sleeping. However within 5 minutes or less, I see that red LED on top of "i" constantly lit.
    If I do powercfg -devicequery wake_armed , I get
    Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260
That is really odd. I have WPA2 (PSK) wireless network, and I'm confident other devices are not that smart to send any WOL packets (or whatever it is called for wireless). Also I have AMT and other stuff disabled in BIOS. Intel Smart Connect has Remote Wake set to OFF, Keep Data Fresh is OFF as well. The problem goes away if I turn flight mode (turn off wifi) before sending PC to sleep.
Does anybody else experience similar behavior and what can I do to prevent waking it up without flipping wifi switch? It is so strange that the lid is at blame while the problem is somehow related to wireless adapter.
P.S. Installed BIOS version is 1.05 (not the latest 1.06). All essential updates are installed.
    Solved!

You may wish to check the WNIC's properties in Device Manager to see if Allow this device to wake the computer under Power Management is selected. If so, deselect to see if your issue is resolved.

  • Does the iPhone 4S support the 5GHz band?

While the iPhone 4 supported 803.11(n), it did so only on the 2.4GHz band.  I can't find any information about this for the 4S.  Does anyone know if it supports the 5Ghz band?
Sorry....I asked too quickly.  The answer is NO.  See http://www.apple.com/iphone/specs.html

  • Does iPhone5 support 5GHz band/channels

Does iPhone5 support 5GHz band/channels? If it does not support that I cannot use it. My neighbors all interfere on the 2.4GHz channels so I need to use the 5GHz channels to use WiFi on my phone. Home WiFi is getting too popular.

No problem. Enjoy it! It's a great piece of tech! Thanks for the points

  • Need help with warranty service on ThinkPad Yoga

Sorry for the seemingly angry headline but I am quite irritated at this point. Around three weeks ago I lost one of the rubber feet off my Thinkpad Yoga 2. After looking on Amazon, the Lenovo store and on Ebay I tried to ask here for advice around two weeks ago but I still have not received an answer (I don't know if this forum is run by Lenovo mods or by a Lenovo "community" of some sorts). I saw a similar question for missing feet on the S1 but the OP had not received an answer either.
Yesterday another rubber foot came off so now both rubber feet on the back are missing thereby also partly blocking the air intake (I will glue it back on!). I therefore decided to call Lenovo to get some new ones. They put me through to IBM customer service which told me that it is not possible to buy rubber feet separately so in order to get two new rubber feet I have to buy a new base cover for the mere price of €80.50 which is just taking the piss out of people, especially when my laptop is 6 months old and still under warranty.
The rubber foot which came off yesterday was so badly glued that it was almost a joke! Since I bought a laptop which has **bleep**ty rubber feet I have to buy a new bottom cover for €80 in order to solve the problem? If that is not taking the piss out of your customers than please tell me what is?

    Does IPad 1 support 5GHz 802.11n..???! or just 802.11a for 5GHz band.
    Thanks

Yes it does support both 2.4 and 5 GHz. The specs N and to meet N you have to have both. If you look at the specs for the fourth generation (the latest one) iPod Touch it says "802.11n 2.4GHz only".
