Does this sound right to every one?

Ok I ordered my Ipod touch 16Gig the day after Christmas and this is what the shipping log looks like at Fedex.com Does the shipping places look right or am I worring about nothing?
And if I am in the wrong section of the forums I am sorry I am new here

Yes, your iPod is shipping from the factory in China. When I ordered my Touch the day it was announced, I spend a lot of time looking at FedEx tracking. This looks exactly right.

I have added photos from iPhoto into Photo Stream and enabled my iCloud but I can't see any uploaded photos. Does this sound right?

Enable PhotoStream in iCloud first, then add the photos to PhotoStream in iCloud. Of course, you will need PhotoStream also enabled on your other devices also in order to view them.

I go back to the store where purchased, I'm told card was activated, and to just wait 24 hours because Apple's networks are probably busy.

A brief and probably non-helpful answer: I know of no way to eliminate your large amount of duplicates other than by repetitive, tedious manual effort.

I hope you're right, but I don't think there is a simpler way.

  • Does this sound right?

Hey guys, I currently get 38-39Mbps on my 38/10 package, I opted to upgrade to the 76/20 package, im only estimated:
    54.8Mb download
    15.7Mb upload
I am only 482.803 m From my cab, do these speeds sound about right? Or do you think I will be getting more and how much more?
What kind of speeds do you guys think?

    Mines probbable a bit weird?
    149m from cab
    60mb / 16.65 up
    Previous stats 38.5 / 8.5
I am hoping they may be able to do a profile reset as i had a glitch of an hour without connection to cab, i had ot manually reconnect.  Engineer that visited twice before said i should get well over 100mb on this line on his magic contraption .

  • Does this sound right?  Battery question

I unplugged my phone from charging all night, sent and received 14 texts, had a 5 minute phone call, checked the weather app, total time elapsed 50 minutes...and my phone was at 95%.  I have done everything that people have suggested to save battery life, but that seems like my battery doesn't last as long as my Blackberry Curve did.  If it matters I have a white 16 GB phone.
    Tks!

Do you have LTE turned off since you state you don't live in a LTE area? In all honesty, you're comparing a more complicated device to an older BB Curve and it's battery life...which is not the thing to do. You can not expect the same battery life (in general that is) to your BB because it's really not going to happen. The 5% drop you experienced may not be bad at all if you had what amounted to 50 minutes of use...what does it say under usage for usage and standby? You don't have to over do it to the degree you mentioned (limiting yourself to only texting and a few phone calls)...the battery isn't going to drain THAT fast, but if you're concerned or what you really want to do is more intensive acts that will help the battery drain much quicker (streaming for example) then yes, you will need to have a way to charge on standby....just in case. That could be taking your charger to work with you...or having a car charger to re-juice while traveling...not necessarily what you may have been expecting, especially coming from a BB but not something completely unheard of from most LTE devices or most current smartphones.
My own personal battery life so far is better than I expected but I am coming from the iPhone 4s so I am used to iPhone battery life. Also, maybe restoring my iPhone 5 from my 4s backup helped with the settings all being in great places automatically...I'm not sure. I don't check it every hour or anything to be able to tell you the % left (I don't have that turned on in settings...I turn it on briefly when curious but I have never left it on...no particular reason other than having the number sitting in the corner annoyed me lol), but I have used my 5 in the same manner that I have my 4s and I have not needed any additional day charges. I have gone well over 24 hours before charging was needed (when the 20% warning popped up) on most days....the shortest timeframe before having to charge again was 17 hours...and that was after spending several hours in the waiting room at the car dealership so I played long sessions of games while listening to music and responding to texts and FB messages whenever they popped up. And even after all of that, when I plugged the phone up I still had not received the 20% warning (it was at 23% when I plugged it up). I also took some pictures and 2 short videos...and checked emails...sent texts throughout the day and used FB/Twitter/Instagram throughout the day...and made some phone calls. I do live in a LTE area if that matters although the 5 is my first 4G phone. I stayed away from 4G initially because it was not in my area and because I saw the dreadful battery lives of friends with 4G Android devices (granted, there are currently Androids with better battery life). I went with the 5 concerned about the battery life because of 4G (which I have no problem turning off if the drain became too much since ultimately, I don't care all that much about it. It's nice but 3G isn't so slow that it makes use unbearable...try remembering dial-up internet and maybe you'll appreciate it a little more lol). At any rate, those are my current experiences with the iPhone 5....to me the experience feels successful, but to others the battery life I listed may seem terrible. Just thought I'd share to give you an idea of what I am experiencing...hopefully you'll see others real-use info and it will help you determine what may be "normal"....and help you figure out if you are having a battery issue that may need to be looked in to.

  • Trial to full boxed version...does this sound right?

I am currently using the trial version of Aperture and purchased a box version of it new. I called Apple support to see how to go about upgrading to the purchased version and he told me to NOT just enter the serial number that came with the box version, but to put in the disk and just install over the trial. This dosen't make sense to me, as the trial is the current 1.5.3 version and the box is 1.5. I would be going backwards in versions.
Anybody upgrade from trial to box? Can the serial number only be used with the software disk that comes with it?
    Thanks for any help!
15.4", 2.16 MacBook Pro Intel Core Duo 2   Mac OS X (10.4.3)   2 GB RAM

I would expect you could just enter the serial # and it would work fine.
The 'fly in the ointment' is probably upgrading via software update. I say this because software update uses a few things to determine what you're running, and among them are the package (.pkg) files in /Library/Receipts. If you start with the trial version, your package file is probably called ApertureTrial.pkg. If you start with the boxed copy of Aperture, your package file is called Aperture.pkg. If for some reason Apple releases an update for the "boxed copy" version that is different to or not available for the trial version, it's likely Software Update will not work.
If it were me I would delete Aperture from /Applications, delete ApertureTrial.pkg (and any ApertureXXXUpdate.pkg files) from /Library/Receipts, install 1.5 from your media, and then run Software Update to get it to 1.5.3. Once you fire it up all should be as you left it, as your preference files will still be there, etc. Takes maybe an extra 10 minutes at the start but long term it will stop you from getting in situations where everyone is confused as you're in an "outlier" configuration.

I just got off chat with Verizon about ordering FiOS TV and 3 x DVRs. They told me the high capacity DVR is still not available in my area (Plano, TX). Is anyone in my area using the new hi-capacity DVR ???

It is available in Plano because we got ours. After receiving the email that we could upgrade we went into the store and exchanged ours out.

  • 3.6MB for one song?? Does this sound correct?

I have just downloaded iTunes and I have downloaded one song. At the bottom of iTunes it is telling me that the song is 1 song, 3.6minutes, 3.6 MB. Does this sound like the correct MB size for one song?? I dont want to start downloading more songs if my settings are incorrect. If this is incorrect setting, how do I change it to get smaller MB per song??
    Thanks!

*If this is incorrect setting, how do I change it to get smaller MB per song??*
Sorry, purchased content is only available at 128 kbbs (for regular content) or 256 kbbs per second (for iTunes plus content).

  • Does this sound like a logic board problem?  Blue screen

I have a G4 1.33GHz iBook 14". Recently it has started having problems with freezing and booting. It will boot normally, but a few seconds or minutes into use, if freezes, and only a force shutdown with the power button will work. Then, when it restarts, it may run fine, or may freeze up. Sometimes when it boots, the apple logo shows up, then the spinning wheel, then a light blue screen. And then, nothing.
I have tried all the usual stuff, including starting with the 10.4 DVD and running disk utility. Also Onyx and version 3.03 of Disk Warrior. It wouldn't boot from the Disk Warrior CD usually, and the one time it did, if froze up.
SO, I ended up booting it in Firewire Target Disk mode, and reformatting (zero'd out) using my MacBook. Then, reinstalled the 10.4 and upgraded to 10.4.7 using Software Update. It worked fine for about two hours, and then started freezing and blue screening again.
Does this sound like a logic board thing? It just occurred to me that I haven't tried all this stuff with my additional 1 Gb stick of RAM out. It hasn't caused any problems before, but I suppose it might affect this, no?
Sorry for the long post, but I want to try to diagnose and fix BEFORE it goes off to Apple to be returned with a "we can't demonstrate the problem" message and a bill.
    Thanks
    Roger

I took out the 1 Gb stick and it did the same thing. About half the time it boots, works for a little while then freezes up. The rest of the time it won't boot past the spinning wheel then the blue screen. Same deal with the OSX DVD and the DiskWarrior CD.
Frustrating. I may have to send it in.

  • Does this sound like a dead Time Capsule?

Came home this aft to no WIFI.  Checked and the light was off on my Time Capsule (first generation) but otherwise intenret connectios seemed OK.
Powered the TC off/on; green light came on momentarily, changed to orange for about 30 seconds, then went off again.  Repeated the cycle several times with no difference.
I have noticed recently that the hard-drive in my TC was getting noisy but everything appeared to be working until a few hours ago.
I recall there were issues with the early Time Capsules and sudden death.  Does this sound like that situation?
Welcome advice on whether current generation Time Capsules are more reliable or would a better course be to replace it with a generic router and seprate backup disk?
    Thanks ..donald

Apple treated me well on this.  My TC was 15 months out of warranty when I took it to the Genius Bar.  About the only question asked was "do you have Apple Care on another product?", following which a replacement TC was produced, some paperwork signed and I was on my way.
    Only a couple of reservations:
The replacement TC, according to the Genius, is new "service stock" (not a refurnished unit) but the same model as my original TC; i.e. First Generation.  This leaves me guessing it will have about a 2-yaer lifespan as well, so I I should plan on upgrading well in advance.  I'll be listening carefully for strange noises and watching how hot it gets.
The second reservation is about security of the information on the TC; al the Time Machine backups plus a little bot of other stuff.  The old TC was boxed for return to Apple and I have to trust Apple that it will be securly destroyed.  Trust is a big thing.

Hi i received the nano 7th gen for Christmas and I only seem to get 5 hours of battery life. I use the Bluetooth and Nike app so I expect more drain on the battery.  But I got more time out of running with my iPhone. Does this sound normal? I thought I should get close to 30 hrs of just play time alone.
ALso, my wife got me the Belkin armband to run with the nano but I sweat through the band resulting in the back of the iPod to get wet. Surely this is not good. Anyone have a recommendation for an armband that keeps moisture away from the pod?

iPod Nano are small and they don't use Wi-Fi access so you get less power time on a Nano. As for iPhone, since you got apps, Wi-Fi + 3G access, and everything else, they give you more time so you can keep using. Nanos are ment to listen to music, listen to radio, view your photos, watch videos (without Wi-Fi) and since you got BlueTooth on the nano, it counts as wireless access so it drains your battery faster.

  • Does this sound like a bad logic board?

    Howdy everyone,
Tried searching and troubleshooting but I'm at a lost for answers so maybe someone who has experienced the same thing could chime in.
Our 2009 MBP started experiencing random beach balls a couple months back that gradually developed into full-blown lockups. Eventually the system refused to boot up so I figured it might be a hard drive problem.
I tested and verified the hard drive by:
    1) using disk Disk Utility to verify and repair the drive (completed without any issues and S.M.A.R.T. is 'verified')
    2) by installing the hard drive internally on a 2008 MB to see if it worked (booted up and worked just fine)
    3) hooking up the drive to the MBP via USB enclosure and booting up as an external disk (again also worked fine)
Next I figured it would be the hard drive ribbon cable so I ordered and tried two different ribbon cables, one from an Amazon reseller and one from iFixit.  I get the same result with both cables.  The drive is recognized in Disk Utility but the system refuses to boot and gets stuck at the logo page with the spinning progress indicator.  Booting in verbose mode revealed nonstop disk0s2 i/o errors.
I've ruled out the hard drive and the ribbon cable at this point so is there anything else that could be the culprit or does it sound like the logic board?
Thanks in advance for any input you could provide.

    Hi Neurotic
You maybe in luck, that 24" with the NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT is rare and unlike most other iMac's can be refitted and with a new graphic's chip. Unfortunately the iMac is very difficult to open and work on, plus you may need an Authorized Apple Service Provider to locate and order the proper graphic's chip.
For a service provider in the US see > http://www.apple.com/buy/locator/service/
For service provider elsewhere see > http://www.apple.com/uk/buy/locator/

  • Does this sound like I need a new hard drive for iPod?

I have an 15GB 3rd generation iPod (4 buttons across top) and now i'm having some major issues. I have to restore constantly and even after a successful restore (which takes about 6-8 tries to keep the restore from freezing) it'll update songs on iTunes if I relaunch the Finder and only if I do that. The hard drive has a clicking noise whenever it's trying to connect to my computer. I'm assuming the clicking is a bad hard drive. Does that sound like it could be the case?

Thanks. I've tried partitioning and erasing the hard drive a couple times. Once in a while it succeeds in erasing the data and then I can attempt a restore but usually the iPod causes Disk Utility to freeze and I have to force quit or manually disconnect my iPod. After I successfully erased the data my restore attempts are usually unsuccessful anyway. The clicking still occurs and I usually have to try restoring about 3-6 times with various iPod Updaters before I get one that will restore completely. Even after that I can't re-connect my iPod to the computer without having to relaunch the finder.
I might have to look into an iPod Video or Nano

  • Does this look right? (see photo)

look at the connection piece for the power charger. The two end parts (and other places) are black. Does this mean I need to go to the Apple store to get this replaced somehow?
in the past, I have experienced burning myself when I touched the charger...
it currently smells really weird. it has a smell of metal (but stronger) along with the smell of something rotting.
the computer has trouble charging. The charger itself works on my mom's Macbook2008, but not on mine. It works only about 33% of the time, and it is becoming annoying. Even when it is charging, one touch to the charger and I need to spend at least 5 min trying to get it charging again.
This is a early2011 MBP. Are there similar problems out there on other MBP's of the same type?

I would take that computer to an Apple Store or reseller to get it diagnosed just because of security, and it's dangerous to have the MagSafe in that status, more when you have problems charging the MacBook
