Does Tiger support 4TB drives?
I bought a 4TB Western Digital MyBook external drive for use with a server running Tiger. According to WD's website, it should be supported on any Mac OS from 10.4.10 and up. However, neither this server nor another 10.4.11 machine I tried it on recognize the drive, instead prompting me to initialize it on insertion. In Disk Utility, it shows up as 2TB with no volumes.
But the drive is in fact pre-formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled), and is 4TB, which I verified by connecting it to another machine running 10.6.2. Clearly WD's specs are wrong, but.. is it simply impossible to get any flavor of Tiger to recognize a 4TB drive?
First, the My Books have had far less than glowing reviews for Macs...

Maximum volume size and file size (Mac OS X 10.4 or later), close to 8 EB (1,3)

I think the problem might be the Interface though, what does it use?
I've also read of several having problems with 2TB size Drives.
Oh, and were the drives maybe Formatted using GUID Partition scheme, that'd prevent any PPC Mac from using them, APM Partition will work for PPC or IntelMacs.

Hello i am using TimeMachine to back-up entire Mac image (data + system) on an usb-local drive. I would like (on top of it) add a specific plan to back up some files on a remote network drive. Does TimeMachine support multiple back-up plans ? How ?
Time Machine is capable of backing up to multiple locations, and can be used to back up to both a local hard drive and a networked drive (provided that that drive is in or connected to a Time Capsule or another Mac that is sharing it over the network). The catch, though, is that you can't specify different things to back up to different destinations. Whatever you exclude from Time Machine backups is excluded from ALL backups, and whatever is included is included on all.
So, get a large enough drive that you can back up everything you want in all locations, or use something else for maintaining the network backup.
More information on these topics can be found here:
How do I set up Time Machine to a shared drive on another Mac?
How do I set up Time Machine to a Time Capsule or Airport Extreme?
"Rotating" Time Machine backup disks -
Since updating OS to Mountain Lion from leopard, I get the following error message when trying to backup with time machine on external drive. "Could not complete backup to media share. The network backup disk does not support the required AFP features." What are AFP features and how do I get Time Machine to backup to my current external backup?
This means that your NAS does not support the required encryption. Update your NAS to the latest firmware or ditch it and buy a Time Capsule (they are the most reliable when using TM).

First question - is Oracle Heterogeneous Services are licensed for standard edition ? I cant find this information, and my database - is SE 11.2.0.3.0 - 64bit.
If its ok and HS are licensed for SE, then please see details of my problem:

[oracle@aris_sv_db log]$To see which ODBC function DG4ODBC is looking for and unixODBC isn't supporting it would be best to get an ODBC trace file. But as your unixODBC driver (unixODBC-2.2.11-10.el5) is outdated and these old drivers had a lot of issues when being used on 64bit operating systems (for example wrong sizeofint etc). So best would be to update the unixODBC Driver manager to release 2.3.x. More details can be found on the web site: www.unicodbc.org

I have an older airport express. My airport utilities states that it does not support this base station. I am try ing to use the airport express in conjunction with a base station to air play my itunes library in another room. I have mountain lion on my Imac (purchased new in SEP of last year. My Imac was the last issued with an internal dvd drive.
Unfortunately, Apple discontinued support of the older AirPort base stations with the introduction of Lion and Mountain Lion.

[ODBC Driver Manager] Driver does not support this function
HI every body
In Win Server 2008 R2 , I tried to retrieve data from my ODBC Driver
by Report Builder , my connection test is successful , but after any retrieve data by SQL Statement I encounter with this Error :
IM0001: [Microsoft] [ODBC Driver Manager] Driver does not support this function
I use Win Server 2008 R2 , and my ODBC Driver installed on :
%SystemRoot%\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe
Can anyone help me to solve this problem, its realy urgent for me ,
PLEASE HELP ………………..ODBC Driver name is PMSDK (32 bit) and installed by Primavera software
I use SQL Report Builder to connect the driver and try SQL Statement in it
Report Builder may be executing an ODBC function to retrieve meta data, and that function is not supported by the PMSDK driver. Are you using the latest version of the PMSDK driver? You might try turning on ODBC tracing to find out the problem
function.

I configured MySQL in TestStand and making a query in TestStand like this:
Command :=> "SELECT * FROM crc_table ; " or "SELECT CRC_Value FROM crc_table ; " returns the total number of records without any errors.
But when I add the "where" clause
"SELECT crc_table.CRC_Value FROM crc_table where crc_table.File_ID= Locals.File_ID and crc_table.Version_ID = Locals.Version_ID and crc_table.Link_ID = Locals.Link_ID; "
I get the error as:
Error, The following SQL command failed: 'SELECT crc_table.CRC_Value FROM crc_table where crc_table.File_ID= Locals.File_ID and crc_table.Version_ID = Locals.Version_ID and crc_table.Link_ID = Locals.Link_ID; ...' Native error code -2147217887 0x80040e21 Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers: ODBC driver does not support the requested properties. [Error Code: -10, User-defined error code.]
I tried the same syntax in MySQL Query Browser and got the correct result:
SELECT crc_table.CRC_Value FROM crc_table where crc_table.File_ID= "FID1" and crc_table.Version_ID = "VID1" and crc_table.Link_ID = "L1";
I would appreciate your help.
Thank you,
VidulaVidula,
I am not completely sure if this is the cause of the error but it is something that will cause problems if it is not fixed. In your SQL statement you must properly concatenate your strings with your variables. In the statement you posted you were simply putting the variable names in the string, not actually pulling their values. To do so properly your query should look something like this:
"SELECT crc_table.CRC_Value FROM crc_table where crc_table.File_ID='"+Locals.File_ID+"' and crc_table.Version_ID = '"+ Locals.Version_ID+"' and crc_table.Link_ID = '"+Locals.Link_ID+"' ;"
This way we are using the values of the variables in conjunction with the text strings. In this case the usage of single quotes (') casts the variables as strings so you may need to change this character sequence, but from the second example you gave I think that your variables are of type string so this should work fine.

JDBC driver does not support XA - Exception
JDBC driver does not support XA
cannot participate in a two-phase commit
To Force participation set EnableTwoPhaseCommit property on the corresponding JDBCTxDataSource property to true
1) What is a JDBCTxDataSource - what does the TX mean?
2) I have two data sources and according to BEA Weblogic docs, setting the property on both won't solve the problem. I tried.
3) When I try to change the data pools to use XA drivers, I get the following error on server startup:
java.sql.SQLException: Pool connect failed: java.lang.Exception: WebLogic Pool Driver doesn't support XA driver, Please change your config file to use a Non-XA driverJDBC driver does not support XA
cannot participate in a two-phase commit
To Force participation set EnableTwoPhaseCommit
property on the corresponding JDBCTxDataSource
property to true
So use an XA driver.
TX usually means "transaction".
1) What is a JDBCTxDataSource - what does the TX mean?

Which version of WebLogic? I've made XA work for both 8.1 and 9.1.

JDBC/RMI driver does not support BLOB data type
WLS 5.1 JDBC/RMI driver does not support BLOB data type. It is said in the Weblogic e-doc.
I am using DataSource for database connections, meaning JDBC/RMI driver is actually producing
database connections. I need several columns of BLOB types in my Oracle tables.
Should I use the "JTS" driver instead in order to have the BLOB types supported ?
Thanks for help.
[att1.html]The error java.rmi.UnmarshalException seems to indicate you are somehow accessing the data-source over RMI, this seems odd. Are you running TopLink on a client and trying to connect to a WebLogic DataSource on the server?
Maybe try connecting directly to the DataSource without going through TopLink and see if you encounter the same issue.
You could also look at the TopLink WebLogic Examples and see how their configuration is different than your own. -
JDBC driver does not support XA
Hello,
we have the following problem when using oracle OCI jDriver from

(full message is attached as rtf file). We are not using TxDataSource
pools, just normal connection pools. This error only happens once in a
while. I would appreciate any help.
thanks

JDBC driver does not support XA, hence cannot be a participant in two-phase
Hi
I have a question, we enabled "One Phase Commit", even though we are getting "javax.transaction.xa.XAException: JDBC driver does not support XA, hence cannot be a participant in two-phase commit. To force this participation, set the GlobalTransactionsProtocol attribute to LoggingLastResource (recommended) or EmulateTwoPhaseCommit for the Data Source =nested exception is: javax.transaction.xa.XAException: JDBC driver does not support XA, hence cannot be a participant in two-phase commit. To force this participation, set the GlobalTransactionsProtocol attribute to LoggingLastResource (recommended) or EmulateTwoPhaseCommit for the Data Source". Why is that?
Thanks
Edited by: user7256072 on Apr 10, 2012 12:35 PMIs there more than one resource participating in the transaction?
If this is the case, and the resources are for example a database and JMS, you can emulate XA
by using the logging last resource setting on a non-XA driver.
An example of the above is presented here: http://middlewaremagic.com/weblogic/?p=7716 (the section my first JavaEE6 application)
Here a stateless EJB is used that has an insertPerson method that uses a datasource and JMS in a transaction. -
JDBC driver does not support XA,,hence cannot be a participant in two-phas
Error committing transaction:; nested exception is: javax.transaction.xa.XAException: JDBC driver does not support XA, hence cannot be a participant in two-phase commit. To force this participation, set the GlobalTransactionsProtocol attribute to LoggingLastResource (recommended) or EmulateTwoPhaseCommit for the Data Source = SOADataSource
i have enabled the LoggingLastResource option still it is not working showing the same error.
i have a doubt in this case my datasource is of type XA then is there any need to enable any of the above option(LoggingLastResource (recommended) or EmulateTwoPhaseCommit).
please do reply it has hampered many of the tasks.Open a support case. You can't even create an XA LLR datasource.
