does time capsule Model A1409 support 802.11
ThankS!

All AirPort routers and Time Capsules have always supported 802.11 wireless standards.

  • Using time capsule model A1409 and trying to use it as only backup. Already have Verizon wireless router. Do not know which cable port to use in back of time capsule. And also it is asking for password. Have tried all of mine and it will not work.

Want to us my time capsule model A1409  as only backup. 2 TB hard drive.
Already have Verizon wireless router. Do not want to use Time capsule as router, only back up for iMac.
Do not know which cable port to use in back of time capsule to Ethernet port back of my iMac.
And also it is asking for password for the server John Garland's Time Capsule so Time machine can access it..
Have tried all of passwords can think of and none work.
Held the reset button for one second on back of capsule and do not see if anything happened.
    What a conundrum.
Appreciate any help to get this working.
    Thanks,
    John R

I have a 2TB Timecapsule and really only use it for Time Machine backups. But the Wi-Fi side is used to sync my iPad at times.
    Mine is wiredup thus;
Eth cable from iMac to modem (not the WAN port should you have one),  then eth cable from modem to T/Cap in the WAN port (bottom port with an O sign above it)
I believe when its connected up you may have to set up a wireless network. Follow the instructions to set up Wi-Fi and Network
and then give it a password. The WiFi icon should appear in the menu bar where you can switch it on or off.
Its been sometime since I set it with the help of Apple Techs so I might be a bit rusty.

  • Time capsule model A1409 Internet Connection Issues

I have a time capsule model A1409 (for use as router and backup) and am attempting to connect it to a Time Warner modem.  Currently my router is a Netgear and it works fine as a wireless and wired router.  When I change it out to the time capsule, airport tells me there is no network connection.  Any ideas to troubleshoot this issue?

If you want to connect the Time Capsule to the Time Warner modem, the Time Capsule will have to be reset back to factory default settings and then configured again.
To perform the reset on the Time Capsule, make sure that it is powered on for a few minutes, then hold in the reset button on the back of the Time Capsule for 10 seconds and release. Allow a full minute for the Time Capsule to restart to a slow, blinking amber light. Then, power off the Time Capsule.
Be sure to power off the Time Warner modem for at least 15-20 minutes before you connect the Time Capsule to the modem. A longer power down period would be better if possible.
Then, you can follow the instructions in the Time Caspule Setup Guide to connect the Time Capsule to the modem and get the network up and running. You can use the same device name, wireless name and passwords for the Time Capsule that you used before if you wish, or change things up.

  • I upgraded from a 1st generation to the 4th generation Time capsule Model A1409.  Since then I am getting interference on my wireless transmitter that sends signals from my Pay TV box to another TV downstairs.  Is it the dual frequency and how do I stop i

I upgraded from a 1st generation to a 4th generation time capsule (model A4109) and since then my pay TV wireless transmitter has pulsating interference.  This is obviously due to the new dual band  frequency of the TC.  Is there any way I can set it to one band and what will that do?

Go in and manually set the wireless channel for 2.4ghz or 5ghz (whichever your av sender is).. try different channels.

  • AirPort Time Capsule Model A1470 Shuts Down

    Hello!
I purchased an AirPort Time Capsule last week for more than $300 to replace Model A1409, which suddenly shut down and never came on again.
The new AirPort Time Capsule (Model A1470) shuts down at least 4 times a day every day.  I unplug it and plug it back in and it reconnects.  This happens at random times when I'm using the computer and when I'm not.  Sometimes it happens when we're watching a movie on the TV and after I get it up and running again I need to enter all of the password infromation on the television again.
    This is a 2TB Model A1470.
Having reliable wifi is a must because I am a work-at-home online educator and have 40-hours per week of office hours with continuous IM access to my students.
Should I return it or is there something I missed?

When you say shuts down.. what does that actually mean??
The new AirPort Time Capsule (Model A1470) shuts down at least 4 times a day every day.
Does the LED in the TC turn off??
    Does it blink amber??
Can you connect a computer to it by ethernet and still get internet??
The requirement to re-enter info like password on the TV seems rather strange.
If the TC just stays Green and the effects are in the network and not apparently on the TC itself.. please try a full factory reset of the TC.
Please rename it.. Call the base station TCgen5.
Please set a different wireless name to both bands.. TC24ghz and TC5ghz.
Even set fixed channel for 2.4ghz and you can also try 5ghz although I doubt it will accept the value.
Make sure you use WPA2 Personal security with a suitable password, 8-20 characters pure alphanumeric.
If you get no improvement then yes you should return it as it seems to be faulty.

  • Is time capsule A1254 still supported in 10.9 mavericks airport utility?

is this time capsule model suported with 10.9 mavericks? like will it backup wirelessly with time machine? will it work with usb drives, will it show usb printers connected wirelessly. etc

You are not understanding my answer.
    Your question was
will it show usb printers connected wirelessly. etc
Previous versions of AirPort Utility in Leopard, Snow Leopard, etc operating systems showed that a printer was connected to the USB port on the Time Capsule if that was the case.
The version of AirPort Utility in Mavericks does not display whether you have a printer connected to the Time Capsule or not.
If you want to see whether or not a printer is connected to the Time Capsule when you are using Mavericks, you can do so by looking at Printing & Scanning in System Preferences.
Printing is supported at the USB port of the Time Capsule in all models and all versions of the operating system. The only thing that changed in Mavericks was you must now look in System Preferences > Printing and Scanning to see if a printer is currently installed on the system.
A USB printer will work just fine with the Time Capsule when you are using Mavericks, provided that you have installed the printer correctly.....but you will not "see" the printer in AirPort Utility, like you did with earlier operating systems in Leopard and Snow Leopard.

  • Does time capsule back-up files which I am currently working on in a program?

    Hey everybody,
If I am working on a file in a program, does time capsule back this file up? So if the program(third party) crashes after half an hour for example, can I still get the file back or would it be incomplete because it was open during back-up?
    Thanks in advance.
    Jelle

Most apps don't work with the actual file on disk; they copy it into memory and make the changes there.
Like most backup apps, Time Machine doesn't (can't) back up anything in memory, only things on disk.
When you Save a file you're working on, or done with, it goes to disk and will be included on the next backup.
Similarly, if the app has an "autosave" facitity, that will copy the "working" version to disk.  Many apps do that to a separate file (often named the same as the original, but with something like "autosaved" appended).  Lion apps that support Lion's AutoSave facility save it to the original file.

  • Airport Express Model A1088 with Time Capsule Model A1254 configuration problems.

I have a Time Capsule Model A1254 and an Airport Express Model A1264. I run OSX 10.7.4. When I try to configure an older Airport Express Model A1088 the Time capsule does not recognise the older Airport Express after I configure it using Airport Utility version 5.6.
    Can anyone help please.

What do you mean "the Time Capsule does not recognize the older AirPort Express"?
Sounds like the AirPort Express needs to be reset and reconfigured.

  • Does Time Capsule works as a External Hard Drive?

Does Time Capsule works as a External Hard Drive?

The Time Capsule works as a network drive.
An external drive connects to your Mac using either the USB or FireWire ports.
If your real question is to ask whether you can store other data on the Time Capsule drive....you can.

  • How does Time Capsule handle the same files on multiple computers?

I'm a writer who works on my MacBook Pro, the family's desktop PC and soon hope to have my own Apple desktop.
Is it possible to have the most current document(s) available no matter which machine I'm on?
Does Time Capsule go to each computer, find the most recent version and back it up?
Does it even work with PCs?

Is it possible to have the most current document(s) available no matter which machine I'm on?
    Sorry, but no.
Does Time Capsule go to each computer, find the most recent version and back it up?
Time Machine will backup any changes to each Mac hourly
Does it even work with PCs?
Only if you manually drag/drop or copy/paste PC files to the Time Capsule drive

  • Does time capsule make duplicate copies of the files those are already exist in it?

Does time capsule make duplicate copies of the files those are already exist in it?

It's not clear just what you mean.
If you're backing-up your Mac, via the Time Machine software, to a Time Capsule or external HD, then yes, by default, Time Machine will copy everything the first time.  Subsequent backups will copy only what's new or changed.
If you mean, can you back up other data on a Time Capsule, no, not with Time Machine.  It can only back up TO a network location, not FROM one.

  • Does Time Capsule back up everything on my computer? If I inadvertently delete photos from iPhoto can they be retrieved from Time Capsule?

Does Time Capsule back up everything on my computer? If I inadvertently delete photos from iPhoto can they be retrieved from Time Capsule?

About TM "Backup Drive is Full"
Alert TM only deletes older files if they have been deleted from the source and when TM needs space on the backup drive for a new incremental backup. Time Machine "thins" it's backups; hourly backups over 24 hours old, except the first of the day; those "daily" backups over 30 days old, except the first of the week. The weeklies are kept as long as there's room.
So, how long a backup file remains depends on how long it was on your Mac before being deleted, assuming you do at least one backup per day. If it was there for at least 24 hours, it will be kept for at least a month. If it was there for at least a week, it will be kept as long as there's room.
Note, that on a Time Capsule the sparsebundle grows in size as needed, but doesn't shrink. Thus, from the user's view of the TC it appears that no space has been freed, although there may be space in the sparsebundle.
Once TM has found it cannot free up enough space for a new backup it reports the disk is full. You can either erase the backup drive and start your backups anew or replace the drive with a larger drive.

  • HT3728 Why does time capsule every day or so stop backing up? Wifi still seems to work. Time capsule is only a few weeks old and is connected via Ethernet to the router and iMac.

Why does time capsule go missing from the network. The green light is lit at all times. I am unable to use the software the only thing I can do is power cycle time capsule, by unplugging and plugging the mains back in.
My time capsule is only a few weeks old, any ideas?
I am new to apple products very impressed with iPhone 5, I pad, iMac. Really not sure about time capsule!
    Thanks

An external drive is much more reliable.. the issue has to do with network connection and loss of something.. although I am sorry I cannot tell you exactly what. The computer is still connected, still works on internet but has actually lost the hard disk.. lost and cannot find it without a restart.
If you want to try a few changes it can help.
    1. If you are connected by ethernet make sure wireless is off in the imac.. having only one network connection is better than two.
    2. Redo the TC setup with all short names.. no spaces.. pure alphanumeric. Apple has these long names with spaces and characters like apostrophe by default but they are not a help.
    3. If the TC is the main router then reduce the dhcp lease time.. make it 20min.. that keeps everything refreshed and up to date.
None of those fix it but they may help stretch out the interval.
