Does Too Many Applications Effect Phone

Hello! First time poster. Great board. I have about five pages of applications on my iPhone 3G. Does having this many apps slow my phone down or cause any negative effects on the performance of my phone?
Thanks!
Tom

Thanks a lot! Is there a list anywhere of which apps are coded poorly? I was just curious as I deleted some apps with the idea that it might help me out some. My phone is not much slower, but I have noticed it seems to be a bit shakier.

I just want to make sure I understand correctly.  Have you removed your battery while your phone is powered on then replaced it a few seconds later?  This won't free up any Application memory but it will free up RAM memory, which could be part of the problem.
If you haven't done so already, please perform this action and post back with your results.

does too many apps slow down iphone's performance?

31 apps is nothing. I have 130 apps XD. Then again, I'm using an iPhone 4S which has more RAM compared to the 3GS. RAM is everything when it comes to speed. To use the app switcher, press the home button twice quickly and a list of your recently opened apps will appear. Then hold down on any app and all the apps will go to wiggle mode (like they do when you're deleting apps. Now, simply tap on the red icon that appears at the top left corner of any app you don't want running in the background. This will free up RAM and should make your phone faster.

  • Craberry "too many application loaded"

I come here just to express my anger to the stupid craberry becuase it show's the error "too many application loaded" again and again.
I am not searching for solution because the only way to solve it is to reinstall the OS. The craberry support would tell you won't lose your information (ONLY if you have backup), but they won't tell you it will take you a long time to re-install the applications you have owned. And you will lose all you status of your application. Everything has to start over again.
DO NOT install any new application!!! DO NOT try to upgrade application!!!! Any of this could lead you to reinstall the OS.
I would not choose blackberry again and it deserve to be abandoned.
A user has to reinstall OS for 12 times in 12 months.

    "craberry" ?

  • Does installing many applications in Lumia 800 (Wi...

I have installed many applications and games in my Lumia 800 (windows 7.5), but I am worried whether installing many applications in a windows phone will ultimately slows down my mobile?

Actually I heard that microsoft designed the Windows Mobile OS in such a way that there will be no any background application running while running a particular application. So I don't understand how the mobile device will perform slow in case of a large no of aplications installed in it, because the RAM memory space will not be occupied by additional applications because of no background process.
Could you please shed some light on this technical thing if I am wrong?

  • What does too many http redirects mean and how do I fix it

Does anyone know what the **** "Too many http redirects" means, and how the **** do I fix it ??

500 errors in the HTTP cycle
Any client (e.g. your Web browser or our CheckUpDown robot) goes through the following cycle when it communicates with the Web server:
Obtain an IP address from the IP name of the site (the site URL without the leading 'http://'). This lookup (conversion of IP name to IP address) is provided by domain name servers (DNSs).
Open an IP socket connection to that IP address.
Write an HTTP data stream through that socket.
Receive an HTTP data stream back from the Web server in response. This data stream contains status codes whose values are determined by the HTTP protocol. Parse this data stream for status codes and other useful information.
This error occurs in the final step above when the client receives an HTTP status code that it recognises as '500'. Frank Vipond. September 2010.
    Fixing 500 errors - general
This error can only be resolved by fixes to the Web server software. It is not a client-side problem. It is up to the operators of the Web server site to locate and analyse the logs which should give further information about the error.
    Fixing 500 errors - CheckUpDown
Please contact us (email preferred) whenever you encounter 500 errors on your CheckUpDown account. We then have to liaise with your ISP and the vendor of the Web server software so they can trace the exact reason for the error. Correcting the error may require recoding program logic for the Web server software, which could take some time.

  • Too many application errors.

I am experiencing too many apllication errors, where memory could not be 'written' or 'read'.
Something, like Flight Simulator will occasionally freeze (or encounter error) etc.
Memtest and Prime95 seems to be running fine without any errors(for few days).
    Thanks for any suggestions.

With so little info to go on, I think it is time for me to try Jedi Mind Tricks.
    Sorry, I know that...
but the main thing is - I would like to know, what causes error messages like this -
Application error   The instruction at '0x77c472e3' referenced memory at '0x00000000'. The memory could not be 'written'.
I think - if there is an error message, it tells something(to who understands). Changing PSU is nice thing to do, but in case Windows needs reinstalled, it is still not the right thing to do.
Shouldn't failing PSU cause also system crashes, not only application errors?
Many years ago I had similar problem on my laptop - installing W2k SP3 caused massive application errors like this. Reverting to SP2 cured everything and worked fine...for one year, when there was memory controller failure. I didn't run Prime 95 at that time though...

  • What does "too many HTTP redirects" mean?

When in App Store if I go to "Categories" or "Top 25" it brings up and error message that say "too many HTTP redirects".  I have tried rebooting my IPhone5, tried clearing history, cache and nothing has seemed to work.  Any Ideas?

  • Does having too many project effect FCPX performance?

    I have 100 - 150 projects
    Selecting a project takes about 5 - 10 seconds
Dragging into folder takes a similar time
Does having that number of projects effect the performance?
When loading up, it reads all project names and checks links (I think)
So I'm guessing there HAS to be some sort of performance hit?
    Thanks
    Omar

    james, thanks for the reply
currently i'm working off the hard drive on my macbook pro
the 'events' what are these? are they simply pointers to where the media is stored?
similar with 'projects' - assuming there are a few more parameters stored for specific settings?
apart from rendering files, these files all should be light weight?
i read that link u gave. i'm now going to move events and project folders as mentioned
Event Manager X: is it worth getting?
i read the reviews. it doesnt say whether or not u can specify where the files are hidden to - lets say you want to keep on the current drive - or maybe move to an external drive
some reviews have complained about the lack of response from buyers - doesnt sound too good
EDIT: i've moved events and projects. i closed fcpx and then started again. the event and project names are still there
    what am i doing wrong?
EDIT: lets say i move events called abc. let's say i have a projects folder called xyz which used media in abc. i move xyz this as well
12 months, i need abc and xyz - but i've forgetton how they are connected and i have 100's of project files and events i have taken offline
    what happens then?
    thanks

  • Too many "application services" !

The menu is way too long , it takes time to get the service neede, which is opposite to their reason for existence.
Does someone know how to remove some of them ?
    Thank you in advance,
    Alain

    Hi Alain,
We discussed the Services menu here last winter in the thread, Can I run a shell script from the Services menu? We weren't talking about how to delete items but it did come up. Besides Service Scrubber, we also posted some links to relevant documentation.

  • Does too many extents afftect database performance?

    Hi gurus
There are some tablespaces created with "UNIFORM SIZE 1M" which should be created "SYSTEM" . The database version is 10g. I worry about that too much extents will affect the database performance even
availability cause extent management overhead. Do i need to recreate these tablespace with "SYSTEM" allocation type or just do nothing? Thank u for your reply!!
Edited by: KevinMao on Apr 12, 2009 8:48 PM

"SYSTEM" is for Tablespaces created with AUTOALLOCATE. Here you would have extents sizes beginning at 64K and then growing to 1M, 8M and 64M.
With "UNIFORM 1M" all your extents are 1M in size. If you have tables/indexes/partitions growing into the tens of GBs in size, you would have extent counts of tens of thousands. That, in itself, is not an issue.
"extent management overhead" that you refer to is actually reduced from DMT to LMT. Within LMT, the difference between "UNIFORM 1M" and "AUTOALLOCATE" may not be noticeable unless you have a particular patten of a very large number of DROP and TRUNCATEs being executed frequently. In that case, assuming that such DROP and TRUNCATEs are for small "temporary" tables, "UNIFORM 1M" may actually be better than AUTOALOCATE, except that you would be "wasting" some disk space (as the former would use 1M extents while the latter would use 64K extents for the first MB).
If you think of "AUTOALLOCATE"s 8M and 64M extents for very large tables, you might actually be better of using UNIFORM 32M or UNIFORM 64M for specific tablespaces and tables. Just be careful not to put relatively small tables into such tablespaces !

  • Too many application open. How will I close them?

Hi, I'm  a new user . Pls is there anybody can tell me how to close the application . I found out that all the site and apps that I opened are not off.

Yes. Press the home and power/sleep buttons at the same time and immediately let go. The screen will flash white, and you will get a camera shutter sound. After that the screen shot will be stored in your Camera Roll.

  • Upgraded too many times???

i have recently upgraded my itunes to version 6 or whatever is the latest. after i had done this i decided to upgrade the software on the computer using the 'software update' option. little did i know, the updater updated my itunes. this is a second update, but two different ways. my question is, is it possible to update a program too many times and it getting corrupted or doing too many things? and when a program is updated where does the old version go? does it get stored or thrown out (i am concerned that if the old versions are stored that it would just take up space)?

When Software Update runs, it will only offer newer versions of installed software.
This normally does not corrupt the system or applications.
Sometimes applications are updated and sometimes completely replaced.
Old files are always deleted, so they don't take precious HD space.
Did you encounter problems with the iTunes update?
It's a good habit to always run Disk Utility and perform a 'Repair Disk Permissions' before and after installing/updating software.
This routine maintenance prevents most troubles.

  • Can't add new icloud account to iPhone says that I have too many accounts please help! Forgot old username and email

I Made a new icloud account bc forgot my username and email and now I can't access bc says I have too many accounts on phone please help!

If the messages says the maximum number of accounts have already been created, you will not be able to create a new one on that phone.  All you can do in that case is either reuse one of the accounts previously created or create your new account on a different iOS device or Mac, if you have one.
