Does too many apps slow down iphone's performance?

does too many apps slow down iphone's performance?

31 apps is nothing. I have 130 apps XD. Then again, I'm using an iPhone 4S which has more RAM compared to the 3GS. RAM is everything when it comes to speed. To use the app switcher, press the home button twice quickly and a list of your recently opened apps will appear. Then hold down on any app and all the apps will go to wiggle mode (like they do when you're deleting apps. Now, simply tap on the red icon that appears at the top left corner of any app you don't want running in the background. This will free up RAM and should make your phone faster.

  • Will having too many apps slow down ur iphone4

    just like the topic says, will it slow the phone down? or drain the battery faster?

    Having apps shouldn't affect anything.
    Using apps will obviously use battery, as will using the phone, the ipod,etc.

  • Can too many Photos slow down a Mac Pro?

    Hi, I have atleast 100,000 photos on my pc, would this many photos slow down a 2.66GHz quad core mac pro with 6 gigs of memory? thanks

    I have 60,000. I use non-boot drive of course for data. Some people have huge music and video libraries of 2TB spanning 2-3 drives on stripped RAIDs.
    Mac Pro and OS X really likes RAM, and the base for DDR3 8-core is to have 6 DIMMs and I'd go with 6 x 2GB, either Apple or 3rd party RAM, then add 3 x 640GB drives (WD Black Caviar). Stripe two, even if you partition it as 400GB each. http://www.barefeats.com/nehal04.html
    And keep the boot drive to OS and applications primarily.

  • Satellite Pro A10 - Does SP2 or 3 slow down the XP performance?

    Hi,
    I have a Satellite Pro A10 PSA15E which over the years had become very slow.
    Recently I upgraded it's RAM from 256 to the maximum 1gb to try to speed things up but it did not help.
    Next I reformatted the hard disc and reloaded the system using the Toshiba recovery disks. This worked fine and the system performance was excellent. However, with on-line security in mind, I loaded Windows SP2 ( with a view to subsequently go to SP3) and this has taken the system back to where I started - very, very slow, in fact pretty well unusable.
    Does anyone know if Toshiba support SP2 and SP3 on this model of laptop?
    If so how do you install them without killing performance?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi!
    I think SP2 or SP3 is supported on this Toshiba notebook because both Service Packs are contains really important security updates and I think this is not the problem.
    If you install SP2 or SP3 you will also get the Security center and better Windows firewall. Maybe you should disable both services because the slow down the system performance (I always disable both services).
    Just go to start => run => services.msc and disable both services and set the start up type to disabled.

  • Too many albums slows down iTunes?

    I've never used iTunes to organize my massive music library, but I want to give it a try.
    I don't think in terms of songs.  I think in terms of albums - ripped CDs.  I have over 3,500 physical CDs and FLACs I'm converting to ALAC.
    I read some very old forum posts that discussed iTunes bogging down, sometimes hanging or crashing, because someone had "too large" a library.   But those comments I read were several years old, obviously discussing older versions of iTunes.
    Assuming that lossy compression is completely out of the question, is a person going to notice iTunes 11.1 responding slowly or hanging with that many lossless albums in his library?  A drag to use?
    Without resorting to multiple libraries, how many ALAC albums is "too many" for iTunes?

    I think a LARGE PART of what you're dealing with is format...
    I have 41,742 songs (3212 albums) and 673 audiobooks in my iTunes library with album art for ALL of it.
    It ONLY lags when adding new tracks, and even that's just for a second or two at most.
    BUT...
    My collection is MP3 (192kpbs maximum) and M4B (128kbps maximum). EVERYTHING comes to 267Gb.
    As FLAC or ALAC, you're looking at a substantially larger library that's going to be slower to update...
    Updating a 23mb ALAC track's ID3 tags... takes longer than a 4mb MP3.
    Updating artwork for an album of ALAC tracks... takes longer than an album of MP3 tracks.
    Renaming an album of ALAC tracks...  and so on.
    Not being a music professional I don't NEED to have lossless music. I listen to most of my stuff through earbuds while riding. Too much outside noise to really appreciate the nuances of a studio quality rendition of Beethoven's 9th.
    If you DO need that quality, the lag is a trade off.

  • ITunes wants to download too many apps to my iPhone.

    After getting an iPad Air the other day, when I went to back up my iPhone, iTunes keeps trying to download all the big apps that came free with the iPad into the iPhone. I don't want Garage Band, Numbers, iPhoto, etc. on my iPhone. It doesn't have enough memory to hold them all. There must be a way to tell iTunes which apps are for which device.

    Well I let them download, then deleted them. We'll see what happens the next time I try to back up the iPhone.

  • How much can too many imports slow inititialization down?

    How much can too many imports slow applet inititialization down?
    I have seen our company's sorce code for some huge applets they have written. In many, many cases, the imports at the beginning of each file are written something like this...
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.event.*;
    import java.util.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    import javax.swing.border.*;
    import javax.swing.event.*;Only certain portion of these imports are actually used. Does this sort of thing really impact the applets loading speed? I know it will obviously take at least a little longer but will the user even notice?

    You are not actually importing the classes, but rather making the names of the classes available.

    Do deleted iphone apps slow down the iphone?
    When I delete an app off my iPhone 4s, does the cookie or "what ever is left of it" slow down the iPhone at all?
    Thanks

    No. Apps are all self-contained, so nothing will be left after you delete an app. And even if you leave the app on the iPhone, unless it's running it doesn't slow down your iPod.
    This is the iPod touch forum, by the way. Just FYI for future questions.

  • Does having too many apps (like more than 100) affect the iPod Touch 5g's battery

    So with today being the App Store's 5 year anniversary, there are a LOT of top notch apps becoming free, which I have wanted.
    However this worries me - can having too many apps downloaded affect my iPod Touch 5g's performance & battery life?
    Extra Details:
    iPod Touch 5g 32gb, just got it two days ago.
    iI already have over 70 apps

    I say they will only adversely effect performance and battery life if the apps do things when the apps are completely shut down. By shutdown I mean the app are not in the recently used row when yo double click the Homne button. By doing something I mean that sme apps are always checking for things like when you get a notification.

    Thanks a lot! Is there a list anywhere of which apps are coded poorly? I was just curious as I deleted some apps with the idea that it might help me out some. My phone is not much slower, but I have noticed it seems to be a bit shakier.

  • Too Many Apps Resuming on Startup

    Hey so I'm having an issue that's seriously driving me crazy. Here are the symptoms:
    -When I restart or shut down/turn on my computer, way too many apps are opening. Like I quit some apps, continue using my computer, eventually restart it, and the apps I quit re-open, even though they were not running when Lion shut down.
    NOTE: This happens even if I uncheck "Re-open windows when logging back in"!! It still opens up all my apps again!
    -When I do things in apps like sticky notes such as creating new notes/editing existing notes and then quit the application, it opens from the state it started at (all new notes dissapear, edited notes revert).
    -I open apps such as minecraft, and it loses all it's saved data and reverts me to a save I made like a week ago, but all future saves are gone.
    -In system preferences, if I uncheck "restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps", then exit out of system prefs, when I open it back up it's checked again.
    -I also tried turning Number of Recent Items: Applications to "Never" and when I restarted this was back to 10.
    My Computer:
    Macbook Pro (May 2011)
    i5 Processor
    8GB Ram
    OSX Lion (latest version)
    Does anyone know what's going on?
    Thanks,
    Emory

    hey all,
    just a quick thing. I saw a genius today, because like many of you, i'm not only dealing with antenna issues but also have some really bad proximity sensor stuff. I mean, seriously, i've done three way calls, face timed everyone, end calls of 50-60 percent of my calls, searched maps, made new contacts, etc. all with my face! rrrgggg but what i was more puzzled about was what the genius told me was,
    "you have no memory because there are too many apps running in the background" when i questioned and said, didn't steve say, "if you have to think about it, you've done it wrong" yet now i'm having issues with my phone, it is because of the multitasking? does this make any sense...it didn't to me. does he not know what he is talking about....or if he is right, there is nothing i can do about it right? he said there isn't a way to turn multi tasking off, just have manually quit programs.........any advice onto if he is correct...

    The genius is incorrect. The apps that are suspended in the background are told to release memory, and if there is a shortage of memory or they don't comply as required they will be terminated at will by the OS (freeing memory). This is all done behind the scenes and will not cause you any memory issues. And the upside is you can switch to them much faster.
    Shorter version: memory not an issue with background tasks.

  • How can I tell which apps or programs are open at any time. At a recent visit to the Genius at my local Apple store, the "Genius" told me that too many apps or programs are running in the background. I'm using Mountain Lion on a McBook Pro

    I was told that my Mac has to work extra hard because there are too many apps and/or programs open in the background. How can one tell what is open?? It must be something which is not normally visible to the user??
    Hans

    Thanks, I have looked at that several times but I can't detect any one item which would indicate overusage. The small chart (indicator bars) are much on the low side and the onse which show are basically green? Not sure what the person at the Genius Bar saw so I'm somewhat puzzled.
