Does Touch lose Latest Update when I sink to new computer?
I've got to sync my sons ipod Touch to a new computer which is a PC.
It was originally synced to his sisters iMAC. And we've just recently purchaes that $20 update for the Touch. Can anyone tell me if when we sync to the PC will we lose the update, and will we have to re-download and pay another $20?
I've seen in other posts that when you've downloaded the update it is saved to a specific folder on the MAC. But can that same file be transferred to the PC if in fact it is wiped out when the Touch is synced to the PC?
If you have more than one iPod Touch associated with your iTunes you
will be able to apply the software upgrade to all units. You can not
apply the update to a Touch that is not associated with your library
and if you take an upgraded Touch to another library and do a
complete restore that upgrade will no longer be active.
The iPod touch January Software Upgrade can only be synced to iPod touch from the primary iTunes library. If the user is manually managing music and video on iPod, this is the computer where they first set up the iPod or first set it up after restoring the iPod. The "iPod touch App Pack 4A93.ipa" file can be copied from the computer where you purchased it to your primary iTunes library computer, and sync the iPod from there.
The file is located here:
Mac OS X:
~/Library/iTunes/Mobile Applications
Windows XP
C:\Documents and Settings\[user name]\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\Mobile Applications\
Windows Vista:
C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Roaming\\Apple Computer\iTunes\Mobile Applications\
Note: These locations are hidden by default in Windows. You can these locations by choosing "Show hidden files and folder" in the View tab of the Folder Options Control Panel.
Once you have copied the "iPod touch App Pack 4A93.ipa" file to the computer with your home library, make a new folder named Mobile Applications in the correct location, and place the "iPod touch App Pack 4A93.ipa" file there. Open iTunes and sync your iPod touch.

Why did I lose 2000 songs when I got this new computer?
All songs lost except purchased itunes. i had at least 2000 songs
Did you move your library from the old one? Like moving furniture when you move house, it will not magically transfer without action on your part. Most things are only on the computer, not somewhere out in Internet land somewhere. Purchases do appear but not because they are transferring but because you are connecting to the Store and have automatic downloads activated which will download any available purchases you have made to any computer you own.

Every time since the latest update when I access the Internet I am asked for my apple password, what's up?
Hi Gizzymoeaiden,
If you are having an issue with your iPhone asking for your iCloud password each time you try to send mail, it may be necessary to reset the password of the Apple ID you are using for iCloud. See this article for how -

I installed the latest update of iTunes and now my computer is extremely slow and it freezes. When I click on the itunes icon, nothing happens, if it opens is a long time afterwards. Most of the time it does not even open, but the computer is very slow. It is a PC desktop running windos xp.
Hey ArgentoSB!
I have an article for you that can help you troubleshoot these issues:

When I add a folder to the library, does that mean that 'later' when I drop a new file into that folder (already added) it will automatically end up in iTunes? (or do I have to add file/folder to library every time I have a new file??) I'm using XP...
iTunes does not actively scan the media folders. If you manually add content to a folder, then you must add that content to iTunes manually via the File > Add File/Folder feature.
The only folder that gets scanned is the "Automatically add to iTunes" folder. -
My computer(A toshiba) crashed and when I bought a new computer(a Mac), my previous apple ID does not word and I was only able to get songs that I bought in 2004. I am unable to authorize my account to get to songs that I purchased recently. Please help.

If you have exceeded your allowance of 5 machines then Apple will not allow you to authorise additional Computers. If you still have access to your old toshiba fire it up de-authorise it and then try again with the new computer.
While this won't help if you are having password problems, I did want to point out that you do not need to access old machines to de-authorize them. Once you are signed in at the iTunes store, access "my account" by clicking on your username in the top navigation bar. Then "manage devices". You can remove any old machines that way. -
I lost my latest photos when I mirrored my new iPhone 5 with my previous iPhone 4, and I don't know how to access the Cloud to check if they're still there. Can someone help me how to access the Cloud to check my content?
Thanks, gdIf you backed up your iPhone 5 before you did this, photo in the camera roll would be included in the backup. You would have to restore the entire backup to recover them. Also, you can see what's in the backup ahead of time. You can only find out what photos are there by restoring the backup.

I had an HP laptop with Itunes on it and kept my library on an external hard drive. I had a 160gb classic Ipod.
My computer died and i am buying a new one (mac is out of budget)
When I get my new computer, obviously I will download Itunes. My Ipod still has all the music on it and the external hard drive is ok.
I don't want to "erase" or lose any information when I sync with a new itunes that is "empty"
What are the steps? After I download Itunes and set the folder location to my external harddrive what is next? Will Itunes recognize my IPOD? Will it load the music/list from my ipd or external into itunes?
Thanks in advanceThe following user tip is worth checking through:

My computer crashed and I have to buy a new one. What happens to my Contacts, Photos, etc when i use the new computer? I do not have an iTunes backup.
Do you have the iCloud set up? If you don't you need to buy a third party software that will do it for you when you plug your phone into the new computer. You can google: iPad/iPhone/iPod to Computer Transfer. You have to pay for the software but it's really a life saver and you get free updates for life. It'll save you a lot of pain and suffering in the future. I've used it many times.

when I bought a new computer with Windows8.1, iTunes wouldn't accept my old ID and password. After entering a new ID and password I got in, but now I can't sync the music that was in my original library. When I try to sync a message says that music will be removed from "other" libraries, so I know they're out there somewhere. Just can't get to them. Any ideas?
- Is the computer authorized for the iTunes account(s) used on the iPod?
- Are you syncing or manually managing music?
- In iTunes if you go to Preferences and then go to the Devices tab, what date is show for the iPod backup? Is if before you switched computers?
- Your iPod sees the new computer as a new library/computer and you can only sync to one library. You need to restore you iPod from a backup. If that bacup is hosw in Preferences, restore from that backup.
- If the backup is after you switched computers, you have two options:
--- Try to make a backup by right clicking on the iPd under Devices in iTunes and selecting backup.
--- If you can't make a backu, can you get one from the backup of your old computer. It is located here and yu may have to have show hidden files turned on.
Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/

My laptop is about to die. Can I store my entire itunes library in icloud, then access it when I get a new computer?
That will take ages, buy an external drive (or a large enough flash drive) and copy it there, do it soon.

My computer was totally destroyed & I do not have backup or external hard drive with my saved iTunes library from it. That was the only computer authorized to play library. I do not have an iPod or iPhone with any of that library (which has over $2K in music purchases & over 5K in songs I ripped). Will I be able to access my iTunes library when I purchase a new computer?
You should be able to access your past iTunes purchases. You'll need to re-rip your CDs See: HT2519 - Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store.
See also this backup tip so you don't get caught out again.

How do I update I pad on a new computer without loosing data. Old computer got virus and it's got my I tunes account on it.
You simply sync the iPad to the new computer. It will tell you that it is already synced with another one though, and will give you the option to erase it or transfer its contents to the new one. An iPad can only be synced with one computer at a time.
Beware that only your iTunes and App Store purchases will sync. If your iTunes library contained music obtained from other sources, you have to find a way to transfer them directly from your sick computer to the new one.
I hope your new computer is a Mac, a replacement PC will eventually suffer the same fate. -
Can you still access Adobe PDF SAVED FILES WHEN YOU GET A NEW COMPUTER
Can you still access Adobe PDF SAVED FILES WHEN YOU GET A NEW COMPUTER ? Do you loose the files you have saved on you old computer when you get another computer?
I may not be clear on what you are asking here but I'll try an answer anyway since that's the type of guy I am.
If you have PDF files on your old computer, you will need to transfer them to your new computer. You can use a flash drive or CD if needed.
But again, I think I'm not getting what you are really wanting to know. If I'm not, can you give us some more details?
