Does turning off push in Mail, Calendar and Contacts affect only mail or all apps as well?

Hey guys. I'm trying to save some battery in my iPhone here. So, when you turn off push in Mail, Calendar and Contacts, does it turn it off for mail only or for all apps? Thanks!

I keep push for everything off. Just don't need/want "instant gratification" .

I turned off icloud on my calendar and it deleted my entire calendar. I did this because I wanted to add a sport site to auto add my daughters hockey schedule.  For some reason it was not accepting this URL?   Is there a way of getting my calendar back?

Perfect, that worked.  But I still cannot get this certain URL to work.  It gives me an error message 1.  Any ideas on that?

  • Btinternet and Bt yahoo calendar and contacts fail...

I have set up my btinternet account on my iphone using the Yahoo account options under "add account". It has working perfectly (email, calendar and contacts) and as BT services are powered by yahoo this should continue to be the case. But for the past month or since ios 5 was released(?), now the calendar and contacts don't sync at all. In fact, the calender doesn't load up at all. I have even set them up separately as Caldav (calendar) and carddav (contacts) but neither works.
I have deleted all the accounts, and started again but still nothing works. In fact I have resorted to having to use hotmail calendar now because of the prbblems. Not ideal when all your contacts and emails are with btinternet.
I contacted yahoo who because it is a btinternet email address would not help and said that I had to contct BT. Now how can BT help when the service is powered by yahoo?!
Has anybody else had such issues and how did you reslove them?

I have exactly the same problem and also find that my Iphone lists 2 BT Yahoo Calendars, neither of which syncs either way.
I am using an IPhone4, OS 5 and have follwed the follwoing instruction re Synching on the BT Yahoo Calendar help System:
Can I sync BT Yahoo! Calendar with my iPhone and iPod Touch over the air?
If you are running iPhone 3.0 software or newer, you will be able to sync your BT Yahoo! Calendar to your iPhone or iPod Touch without plugging into your computer. You can check your current version by going to Settings, then choose General. From there, select About, then Version on your iPhone or iPod Touch device.
If you are running iPhone 4.x software or newer:
Go to your iPhone or iPod Touch settings application.
    Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
If you have a BT Yahoo! Mail account setup click on that account and turn Onthe Calendar sync option.
If you do not have an account setup you, click Add Accountand then click BT Yahoo!.
Fill in the fields requested and click Next.
If you are successfully logged in you will be allowed to turn on and off specific sync services. Make sure Calendar is in the Onposition.
The next time you open up your iPhone or iPod Touch Calendar you will see a page allowing you to select which BT Yahoo! Mail layer you would like to view or edit.
    Help!

I'm using a TravelSIM to make calls and texts home to Australia on my iPhone 4S while I'm overseas. Do I need to change settings, or do anything else, to make sure I don't pay too much?
I have advice to turn off push data and don't use Google maps

thanks for any answers from experienced iPhone using travellers!
    kind regards,   Di

It's not entirely impossible actually as someone has pointed out to me that I can turn on Call Forwarding and that stops any incoming calls. I've just forwarded it to my google voice number and then turned on "do not disturb" in google voice and whenever I get a call it goes straight to my google voice voicemail and my phone does nothing. The only thing now is I still get text messages but I think the phone calls bugged me more because they would make my music turn off for much longer.
Even though this isn't a perfect solution it's something so far so maybe you shouldn't just come out and say there's NOTHING I can do because so far I've found part of a solution. If you don't have anyting productive to say then just don't reply and close the tab. Thanks.
At this point I'm wondering if anyone knows of any Jailbreak tweaks that can enable what I want. Unless of course it's agaisnt the rules of this forum to mention jailbreak stuff...

  • Turn off push for Exchange account?

I don't want to use push for my work Exchange account. In Settings, when looking at "Mail Folders to Push" for that account, I can't uncheck "Inbox". However, I have turned off push in the "Fetch New Data" global setting. Which one takes precedence? Is push on or off for this account?

If you go to settings, mail, fetch new data, advanced, and select your exchange account, you should be able to turn fetch settings to manual for that account. If you have pushed turned off under fetch new data, then no accounts should get push mail.

  • How do you turn off Verizon voice mail?

I have an answering machine, I would like to turn off Verizon voice mail so that all unanswered calls go directly to my answering machine.  The tech that installed my service said it was possible, but the directions he gave me led to a dead end.  Does anyone know how to turn off Verizon voice mail?  Is there a way to do this on-line or via the telephone (without having to contact a representative)?

Since the Verizon Voicemail will answer calls to you number when you are using your phone, a second incoming call to your number while your own answering machine is taking a message WILL BE forwarded the the Verizon Voicemail system --possibly giving you recorded messages in 2 places. Note that each increase in the ring count will add 6 seconds to the amount of time it takes to forward the call to the Verizon Voicemail system.
If you really don't what the  Verizon Voicemail system which can handle multiple calls simultanteously (something you own answering machine cannot do), your only option is to phone Verizon's business office and request that they remove the Verizon Voicemail service from your line.

  • 2 day old iphone 5s turns off at 95% battery life and will not turn back on. HELP

So I had an iphone 4s for two years, the battery started to not last as long, so with my upgrade I got the iphone 5s (greatttt). Anyways I had it for a month then all of a sudden I wasn't getting calls, it took over a minute for me to even get a call to send, then once I was on the call others couldn't hear me well, then it would drop (no problems with service, always happened with full bars).  Brought it to Apple store, they told me it was a combination between the phone and my SIM card.  They gave me a new one and recommended I go to verizon to get a new SIM card.  That same day literally 3 hours later, the phone turned off randomly at 65% battery and WOULD NOT turn back on.  I had to go back to the apple store, they restored my phone and almost gave me another new one. However they tested the battery and everything and came to the conclusion it was okay and that I needed to restore the phone and set it up as if I did not already have an iphone (not use icloud to bring EVERYTHING over) So we did that and it started to work, that was two days ago.  Over the course of the last two days I have SLOWLY downloaded my previous APPS, however the only way to download those are to do it from the "cloud" because apparently I can't just get them from the app store.  Well yesterday I got the blue screen of death, however it came back, I thought nothing except that it was over worked.  Tonight it went down to 1%, I left it on the charger until it was at 96%.  I had NO APPS open. Went to my calendar and added a event for tomorrow, put my phone down and then ten minutes later looked at it and its turned off.  It will not turn on, I tried rebooting pressing both buttons, Ive plugged it back it, switched outlets, switched cords, NOTHING.
Of course I wish I never got the iphone 5s at this point.
    What now?
    Back to Apple again?

    Yep.
Just like cars, you lucked on a lemon.

  • HT4929 I have 2nd generation I-pod which does not meet requirements for ICloud.  However, I was told that after I moved to ICloud if I connected my iPod to my Mac via the USB connection that my calendar and contacts would sync, but this didn't happen.

I have a 2nd generation Ipod and just moved to Icloud.  I had been told my an Apple tech that although my contacts and calendar would not sync automatically I could connect the Ipod to my Mac via the USB port and ITunes would sync the calendar.  Now I find that this is not happening.  I am not happy that I will have to enter/edit calendar and contact info on two devices.  Is there something I can do to fix this problem?  Thanks.

one more detail, after a restore, when I attempt to reload music to the ipod, if I try and move, say, 20 files, the transfer seems to work as it should but then stalls on the last file.  Eventually, the status will change to "Updates Files on (my ipod)" a and suggests the iPod is syncing  even though I have the auto sync feature turned off.
This process eventually works itself out, and seems to take longer relative to the number of files I attempt to transfer.   Once done, howver, if I try and eject and dismount the iPod, iTunes stalls with the spinning pinwheel and I am warned that the iPod is syncing again with the spinning candy cane status bar.     Eventually thisd works itself out and the iPod dismounts from iTunes and the desktop and eventually the iPod is free to disconnect.
Then if I try and play the music I just transfered, the iPod says there is no music loaded.
    Ideas?

  • HT3576 HOW Do I TURN OFF PUSH NOTIFICATIONS THRU ITUNES

How do I turn off push notifications when using words with friends on my iphone. It tells me to go thru itunes. Where do I do this??

    1. Provide your iOS version
    2. Define: "using words with friends."  Are you referring to text messages or a specific 3rd party app?  In any case, this is not controlled by iTunes.
Settings > Notification Center > select app you're using (Messages??) > select what type of notifications you do and don't want.

I use Touchdown from Nitodesk for my work email. Its a little pricey, but it works with your companys OWA (Outlook Web Access) portal. They do have a 30 day trial that they insist that you try to make sure it will work for you before you shell out any money for the app. It syncs the Calendar, notes, tasks, emails etc.
It has a discovery feature that it will figure out what it needs to configure. All you need to provide is how you log into OWA (Username/password, website) and the program does the rest. It works very well for me.
No I am not employed by Nitrodesk. I only use the program. There was no need to ask my IT people to set anything up for me.
Give it a try, it might work as well for you too.
One day I will have to give this app a try, I am just use to configuring my device to sync without a 3rd party app but I have heard that Touchdown seems to be the best thing going to setup a corp sync process..
