Does UMI-7774 need power source?

This may seem like an obvious question, but I need to ask it anyway:
I am using the PCI-7334 and UMI-7774 to control my E-DC drive and step motor. Does the UMI needs any power? For now, the UMI is plugged to the PCI-7334 and the step motor and power source are plugged to the E-DC drive which is plugged to the UMI.
Please help me!!
Thanks

A regulated power supply will hold its rated voltage.  An unregulated one will not.  Stepper drives typically don't get along with regulated power supplies because at start up there is a larger current draw.  The power supply may think this is a short-circuit and either foldback or trip.  Regulated supplies are also more expensive.

What is the current rating of the UMI-7774 internal 5Vdc power supply?  This is the power on pin 8 feedback connector.  User manual doesn't specify rating.  This is not the ISO power.  This relates to page 3-18 of manual.

    Hi,
From the following PDF: http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/373359c.pdf: "Provides 1 A maximum output current, shared between Control connector pin 3, Feedback connector pins 4 and 8, and Trigger/Breakpoint connector pin 3."
It is on page 30, table 8.

  • Does my bashrc need to source /etc/bashrc

In Fedora/Centos, my local .bashrc file seems to need to have a line to source global definitions:
    if [ -f /etc/bashrc ]; then
            . /etc/bashrc
    fi
On Mountain Lion and Mavericks, it appears that /etc/bashrc is always sourced whether I have a local .bashrc or not. Verified with echo statements inside various files to show me what is being executed.
I am trying to get confirm if this is true (for both interactive shells and child processes spawned by parent process) and, if so, does it do any harm to keep the sourcing of /etc/bashrc. I'd prefer to not have to have different .bashrc files for Linux and OSX.
Thanks in advance for any advice

I've got my answer for an interactive earlier in this thread (or at least enough to begin figuring out what I need to do regarding interactive shells and my local .bashrc). I pretty well understand the order that things are sourced in interactive, but was unprepared for the difference of OSX /etc/profile sourcing /etc/bashrc (which doesn't seem to happen on Linux).
As for non-interactive, I tried to do as much research before querying on this forum. I know that they just do .bashrc. Hence why I see advice (and I have long followed such) to have .bash_profile source .bashrc to have all "my stuff" in one file that both interactive and non-interactive source. However, I can not figure out whether a non-interactive / subshell inherits and/or sources /etc/bashrc (which on OSX I now know comes through /etc/profile). My sense is that it does on OSX based on the other reply I got. Which would mean that whether I need to source /etc/bashrc is the same for interactive and non-interactive since, on OSX, I get the sense that any shell, interactive or non-interactive, is going to first call /etc/profile. As you can tell, I am having to make this final statement based on "best understanding".
If I am misunderstanding non-interactive, can you please point me to a good link(s) that pertain to what OSX does (now that I know there is a very real difference between Linux and OSX and info for one might/will not work for the other).
    Thanks for your reply

  • Why does Merge Join needs its sources to be sorted

    Hi,
Can anyone explain why Merge Join needs its sources to be sorted ?
I saw an explanation in another thread that this is the way to not load all the data to memory, but isnt the data that is about to be merged already all in memory becuase the SORT component waits for all the rows to arrive ?
Why are there no options for Full cache, Partial Cache and No Cache like in the Lookup component ?

MERGE Join is one of Join algorithms in SQL Server needs sorted inputs and efficient for large set of records.
    You may refer the below(Craig

I have a MacBook Pro laptop purchased in June 2011, and the superdrive no longer works.  Rather than have it replaced, I'll buy a 3rd party superdrive that plugs into the USB port.  Does the external superdrive need it's own power source, or will the USB port provide enough power?

The Apple external SuperDrive actually exceeds the allowed power draw. Because of this, it is only trouble-free on certain models that accommodate this excess.
All others require an external Power source.

  • I have new hard drive in macbook pro(08) and have SATA cable with external power source to old hard drive (10.5.8)via. USB port and newer drive(10.6.8) will not recognize older drive..Do I need to partition newer drive with older disk to recover data?

I have new HD 750GB Hybrid in 2008 Macbook Pro 17" w/ Snow Leopard 10.6.8  connected to old Hard drive(250GB that had 10.5.8 on it at time of failure) via SATA cable to USB port with external power source.. Computer not acknowledging old HD at all in Disk Utility or otherwise (that I'm aware of)..Do I need to partition New HD and load old(10.5.8) onto partition to recognize older drive for data recovery? Thanks Wayno08

You do not need to load 10.5.8 onto your new drive in order for a 10.6.8 system to see the contents of a 10.5.8 system.
You might want to check out the hard drive troubleshooting bootk in the downloads section of this web site:
    http://scsc-online.com
They also sell a product named Phoenix that can do OS extraction  and volume copying/cloning, but to be honest I don't know if it's appropriate in this case.
    I would suggest the following:
Open up Terminal.app (under utilities) and type "diskutil list" without the quotes. This is the command line version of Disk Utility. If the external drive doesn't show up at all, then it's likely not connected properly, not getting power, or just plain dead. If it shows up with only a devce name like disk0s16 but no volume it means the drive is seen, the OS just can't make sense of it.
Assuming the drive shows up, I would try to boot off the original installl disks for the system and run Disk Utility from that. I'm assuming the drive will show up. You'll want to select the option to repair the drive and then perform the option to repair the permissions.
If the unit isn't showing up, as per step 1, try a different USB port. More importantly with your unit, try it on another side of the unit if possible. If you read the book I referenced above, some of those units have I/O boards that are separated from the logic board. If the cable from the logic board to the I/O card goes bad or has problems, which isn't all that uncommon, some or all of the ports on the I/O card may appear to be bad as well. If you use a USB port on another side, it would be routing out of a completely different I/O path, so that's a potential problem.
If the drive is only seen with a device name such as disk0s16, it's likely either the index files are corrupt beyond Disk Utility's ability to see them. The  only thing that I think would help would be a product named DIsk Warrior, but I can't guarantee that.
Disk Warrior can be found at:
    http://www.alsoft.com/diskwarrior/
The company that I linked in the first link above also makes a product named Scannerz that does HD and system testing. The Scannerz/Disk Warrior combination make a good pair because the complement each other....Scannerz does what Disk Warriror can't and Disk Warrior does what Scannerz can't. However, at this point I'm not too sure getting a tool like Scannerz would be of much use because it sounds like the  damage has already been done.
    Let us know what happens.

Here's the steps to follow if your printer isn't turning on.

My apologies, I read your post the wrong way. I see now that the original poster was confused about the specs and you were simply responding with the appropriate info.
I've gotten defensive after reading the forums. The forums are full of posters just looking to prove someone wrong or stupid, rather than being helpful. I shouldn't have assumed you were one of those people. Sorry.
I did my homework and discovered that my PowerPC will run Leopard. It can be purchased for $129 by calling 1-800-MY-APPLE. This is much cheaper than replacing my laptop.
I hope to upgrade my Mac soon, though! Can't believe this thing is still ticking. I love Apple.

  • What does Apple mean by "For best battery performance, leave your device connected to a power source until the restore is complete."

I just recently returned an IPad air and exchanged it for another. I first set up this new one as a new IPad but then deleted all content and settings right away (since I wasn't getting the progress I had made in apps and games) in order to restore it from my previous IPad Air. I then checked after on how to backup via icloud and saw this line under the subtitle of how to restore from a backup, "For best battery performance, leave your device connected to a power source until the restore is complete." What does Apple mean by "for best battery performance"? Im just a bit worried of issues.
p.s. And yes I did have it connected to the power. And the ios is the default ios for new IPad Airs.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
It only means you should restore whilst it is connected to a power supply, so that your battery doesn't go flat during the process.

Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you're experiencing unexpected behavior when switching power sources, I'd suggest resetting the SMC first:
