Does updating to ios 7.0.4 diminish my space on my new iPhone 5s?
I just bought a brand new iPhone 5s and have an update already to install ios 7.0.4. I have a 16 gig capacity on the phone itself. Does installing ios 7.0.4 take up any of my 16 gigs? Or does it "swap" for the ios 7.0.3 that is already "built in" to the phone? I'm always concerned about updates taking up more space than the old version and would like some clarity on this. Thanks very much!
It would depend on how many changes there are to the software (primarily new features).
Updates always replace existing code but could be larger (in total size) if thay have added functionality.
Minor updates like 7.0.x represent just changes to the software and are (usually) quite small to download.

After updating to ios 5, my calendar sometimes freezes when entering a new event. I have tried syncing but it doesn't fix the problem. Are there any bug fixes for this? Any ideas would be great thanks, I don't really want to have to reset everything!
Try to reset the iPod by pressing the home and sleep button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again. You will not lose data doing a reset, but it can clear some glitches after installing new software or apps.

Just updated to IOS 7 and two issues:
First when I connect my iPhone to my computer I get this error message:itunes was unable to provider data from sync services". I'm not sure what this really means...
The second issue is when I try to select "Manually Manage Music"
The iPhone "My iPhone" is synced with another iTunes libary on "MY-PC". Do you want to erase this iPhone and sync with this iTunes library? An iPhone can be synced with only one iTunes library at a time. Erasing and syncing replaces the contents of this iPhone with the contents of this iTunes library."
So... I don't want to do that, but I do what to be able to Manage my music. I'm not sure what it means by being synced to another iTunes unless it means to an older version of itunes?
Anyone have any ideas?I cannot address the sync services error right now, but the error that you receive when you change from sync to manually manage music is what happens when you change. Once you change to manually manage music, it erases all of the music and will only put the music that you want on the phone, content that you manually drag over to it. I did an icloud backup on my old 4S with iOS 8.3 and wanted to install on my new iPhone 6 but it only has iOS 8.1.3! Can I do/use the backup after I chose "install as new iPhone"?
Because I cannot update the software until I chose if I want to begin with a new phone setting or download a backup.
But the backup is of course not compatible with the old iOS.
So will it be possible to get the new iPhone going, then do the software update to 8.3 and then download / use the data from
my 4S icloud backup?1. Settings > General > Software Update > Update the to 8.3
2. Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content & Settings
3. Reactivate phone and follow prompts to restore iCloud (or iTunes) backup. -

Does updating to iOS 6 on the phone waste available space?
It used to be that updating iOS (as opposed to downloading an update and restoring) would "waste) 500 MB each time. I'm wondering whether that is still the case with in-place updating on the iPhone. It does seem that I have a 400 MB less space available since updating from iOS 5.1.1 to 6.
You probably have corrupted files. The update should remove them.

I just updated to iOS 7 and now my iMessages won't work. It just keeps saying activating iMessage but it's not doing anything; I tried signing in with my Apple ID but then it just lets me send them using my email address and the number the phone was originally set to; even though that is not my actual number that I use as I changed it through Vodafone so the SIM card now has a different number.
It won't even let me click on my number to select it; it is just that faded grey colour and there are no ticks by it;
And when it says "may be a standard SMS charge to activate" I'm not even getting a text through to be able to activate it anyway
How can I fix this?http://theunlockr.com/2013/07/12/how-to-stop-your-email-from-showing-up-in-imess age-video/

Is there a sim in the iPhone?
Has the iPhone been jailbroken or modified to work with other
than the original wireless provider?
If you can get that far, what does it say when you look at
Settings=>General=>About=>Carrier? -

Does updating the iOS wipe iPad contents?
Hi,
First time posting here so hopefully in the right place!
I'm out of the country for a few months as of next week and as many are eagerly awaiting 4.3 on the iPad. My concern is if I update using an iTunes account that is not mine (on a friends or public computer) will it wipe the contents of my iPad? I travel light bringing my laptop isn't an option and I have photos and movies I wouldn't want to be without.
Any advise would be appreciated.
RyanThank you for the responses.
I did a quick experiment. Connected my iPad to my wife's iTunes. It came up with the normal 'iPad can only be synced with one iTunes etc' message, I choose sync purchases with this this iTunes NOT 'Erase and sync'. Pressed cancel on a few more dialog boxes and then had my iPad in the devices section of her iTunes, unsync'd, with an option to update software so looks like it may be possible.
Before I leave I'm going to downgrade my ios and try and actually update that way, will post the results. If it all gets wiped a least I can re sync with my itunes before I leave home.
Good idea about the MobileMe, will have a look at that as well. -
Updating to iOS 8.0.2 - not enough space.
If i delete music to create enough space to download 8.0.2, can i put the music back by syncing with iTunes after the new iOS is installed?
If the music is on your computer, as it should be, then you can sync it back whenever you like.

Updated to iOS 7.0.4, Now speaker doesn't work on iPhone 5s
Just updated to 7.0.4, now my speaker doesn't work. So I can't hear notifications at all, no music, nothing. Tried factory reset - nope. Good thing I just got this last week, because I'm taking it back to Verizon for a new phone, or go back to a Samsung Galaxy S4 which I had before this phone.
Did you check the position of the MUTE switch on the left side of the phone near the top? Have you checked the volume settings?
