Does using Malwarebytes interfer with Firefox Malware Protection?

Just wondering if there is any problem using Malwarebytes and Webroot Security with Firefox Malware Protection?

Firefox's built in protection only protects you while surfing. It's best to have an antivirus so it can protect your whole system as opposed to just Firefox.
But no, MalwareBytes and Firefox's built in protection shouldn't conflict with each other. If they do, it's the first time I'd hear of it.

    After several years of use very satisfied with Firefox, recently loaded version (4.0.1) severely slows my browsing, and even my system, especially when there are pictures or videos. I said that this was not the case before and my system is Windows XP SP3.

    I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
    When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
    At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
    I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6.

  • Does McAfee siteadvisor work with Firefox - if not, why not?

    does McAfee siteadvisor work with Firefox - if not, why not? Is there a way to make it work?

    No, it is blocklisted by Mozilla due to that Site Advisor extension being the #2 cause of crashing the Firefox 5.0 betas. McAfee was notified of the problem long before that extension was added to the blocklist. Now it is up to them to fix it. <br /> https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/blocked/
    I have read that McAfee is working on a re-written version that is projected to be available in the 3rd week of July.

  • I want to save with alt s in the program Exact Online. This function is not working. this is the first time that i use this program with firefox.

    Question
    I want to save with <nowiki><alt><s></nowiki> in the program Exact Online. This function is not working. this is the first time that i use this program with firefox.
    '''edit''', mod escaped the '''<nowiki><s></nowiki>''' to prevent line through question

    Submitted too soon... To change your accelerator key for accesskeys to Alt alone (or a different combination), you can change a setting using Firefox's about:config preferences page.
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the filter box, type or paste '''ui.k''' and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) Make sure '''ui.key.generalAccessKey''' is set to its default value of -1 (or right-click and choose Reset if it is not).
    (4) Double-click '''ui.key.contentAccess''' to open a dialog box to change the value from its current default (on Windows, 5) to your choice of the following:
    * 2 = '''Ctrl''' (Fx default on Mac thru Fx13)
    * 3 = Ctrl + Shift
    * 4 = '''Alt''' (IE/Chrome/Safari default on Win/Linux)
    * 5 = '''Alt + Shift''' (Fx default on Windows & Linux)
    * 6 = '''Ctrl + Alt''' (Fx default on Mac from Fx14) (Chrome/Safari default on Mac)
    * 7 = Ctrl + Alt + Shift
    This should take effect as soon as you OK the dialog, so you can experiment in a separate tab. Other combinations are available if you want to try them. See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Ui.key.contentAccess (inaccessible at the moment?)

  • Is Google interfering with Firefox? Why is it when using Google Search engine, Firefox is always Not Responding? Doesn't appear to happen with other Search Engs

    Really tired of waiting for Firefox Not Responding Msgs of late when opening a new tab and searching for something. It is not the speed of my Internet connection that is to blame and doesn't seem to happen if I use Yahoo or Google via Chrome for example. This problem only appeared some weeks/months ago and why, I have no idea.
    I am a computer user, not a programmer and can only follow basic computer instructions - if I cannot resolve this frustrating 'Not Responding' message every time I wish to search for something then, I'll have to drop Firefox and use Chrome or similar as life is just too short.
    Thank you.

  • Does anyone have problems using Dragon NaturallySpeaking with Firefox

    I have just started using Dragon NaturallySpeaking version 13 premium and I am encountering a few problems using it with Firefox. Completing text fields to login to various websites seems to be a major problem. With the cursor in the actual text field Dragon seems to not recognise the username or password that I dictate. I have made sure that the Dragon add-on within Firefox is activated and most of the other commands within the browser seem to work perfectly well.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    This is most likely more of a Dragon problem than Firefox. I would suggest also opening a ticket on their end to. Most likely it just is not familiar with new versions of Firefox and has yet to be updated.

  • When I try to use Google Chrome with FireFox installed my computer slows down and also crashes. How can I use both together?

    I have tried several times to use Firefox and Google Chrome on my computer at the same time. When I do the computer runs slow, page scrolling is erratic, and occasionally it will crash. If I uninstall Chrome the computer returns to normal. How can I fix this issue?

    You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox (you need to close and restart Firefox).

  • Cannot compose or reply using yahoo mail with firefox

    I have done everything Yahoo says to do which is FF's solution to my problem, but it does not solve the problem
    Yahoo mail works fine with IE & CHROME but with FF 33 & 34 it will not allow me to compose or reply to an email!
    And the checkboxes with the icons inside have been there for MANY versions.
    Sad that I will have to switch to Chrome or IE

    I am suddenly having this problem with not being able to
    reply/forward to (certain Gmail conversations).
    Now using, Mac OS 10.5.8 and experienced the presence of this issue with Firefox 3.6.10. AND 3.6.13 but not with Beta 4.
    I have used Safari and the error is not reproducible. This issue is exclusively present to Gmail in FF.
    I can confirm that FF config is presently dom.storage.enabled.
    I have started FF in safemode, disabled, updated and enabled all plugins and add-ons, restarted FF and desktop many times, the issue is still present in FF 3.6.10/3.6.13.
    Only some conversations cause this error. When I click on particular conversations reply/forward tab, the page freezes and the only way to temporarily resolve this, is to click the refresh icon as F5 will not work.
    It does not freeze the whole
    FF browser, just the window with Gmail.
    I need a fix as FF is my primary browser.
    Thanks in advance! :-)

  • Can't use my cardreader with Firefox 8 to connect with my bank.

    Hi!
    I use a cardreader to connect to my bankaccount. It has worked flawlessy with Firefox until ver. 8.0 (Swedish version). Now I have to switch to either IE 8.0 or Google Chrome to make it work - which is vey sad since I've been with Mozilla/Firefox since the days of Netscape Navigator.
    I use XP Professional SP3, Gigabyte EP35-DS4, Intel Quad Q9300, 3,5 GB.
    ESET Smart Security 4.2.71.2, Emsisoft Anti-Malware 6.0.0.49

    Hi,
    Please try to '''Unload''', restart Firefox and '''Load''' the smart card module in '''Tools''' ('''Alt''' + '''T''') > '''Options''' > '''Advanced''' > '''Encryption''' > '''Security Devices''', if it is present. Before that please make sure to know the location of the original module file (usually .dll).

  • Flash player 11.3.300.262 does not stream video with Firefox

    Newest Flash Player update does not function with Firefox.

    Hey Chris,
    I was able to duplicate this issue on my Windows 7 laptop as follows:
         1)  Completely uninstall FlashPlayer (using your tool) as well as Mozilla Firefox and Mozilla Maintenance Service (used Windows 7 - uninstall from Control Panel).  Please note that I checked the box that said "Remove my Firefox personal data and customizations" to ensure that Firefox was completely gone from my laptop.
         2)  I then went out to the Firefox website and downloaded the "Firefox Setup 13.0.1.exe" app to my laptop.  I ran this app to install Firefox.
         3)  I then went to the following website http://www.ishmael.org.uk/karaoke02.php as I know that this URL uses Flash Player (obviously you can go to any URL that uses Flash Player - I'm just letting you know which one I used).  I then clicked on the icon on this page to install Flash Player.
    Once the install was completed, the URL stops responding and appears to be locked up (although it will occassionally hiccup and display portions of the page and then lock up again).  You will eventually get a pop-up notice from Firefox that has the header "Warning:  Unresponsive script" and says the following:
         A script on this page may be busy or it may have stopped responding.  You can stop the script now, or you can continue to to see of the script will complete.  Script:  chrome://browser/content/browser.js:6551
    Selecting "Stop script" will get Firefox working until you hit another page that uses Flash Player.
    To ensure that the above URL is not the culprit, I used one from your website http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/find-version-flash-player.html and had the same results.
    Hope this info helps!
    Jeff
    NOTE:  As a reminder, I do not have RealPlayer installed on my laptop (and never have had it installed)
